Structure Theory of Parabolic Nodal and Singular Sets

We establish new estimates for the size and structure of the nodal set $\{u=0\}$ and the singular set $\{u=|\nabla u|=0\}$ of solutions $u$ to parabolic inequalities with parabolic Lipschitz coefficients. In particular, we show that almost all of the nodal and singular sets are covered by regular parabolic Lipschitz graphs with estimates, and that both sets satisfy parabolic Minkoswki estimates depending only on a doubling quantity at a point. Many of our results are new even for the heat equation on $\mathbb{R}^{n}\times \mathbb{R}$.

DeepMath-Creative: A Benchmark for Evaluating Mathematical Creativity of Large Language Models

To advance the mathematical proficiency of large language models (LLMs), the DeepMath team has launched an open-source initiative aimed at developing an open mathematical LLM and systematically evaluating its mathematical creativity. This paper represents the initial contribution of this initiative. While recent developments in mathematical LLMs have predominantly emphasized reasoning skills, as evidenced by benchmarks on elementary to undergraduate-level mathematical tasks, the creative capabilities of these models have received comparatively little attention, and evaluation datasets remain scarce. To address this gap, we propose an evaluation criteria for mathematical creativity and introduce DeepMath-Creative, a novel, high-quality benchmark comprising constructive problems across algebra, geometry, analysis, and other domains. We conduct a systematic evaluation of mainstream LLMs' creative problem-solving abilities using this dataset. Experimental results show that even under lenient scoring criteria -- emphasizing core solution components and disregarding minor inaccuracies, such as small logical gaps, incomplete justifications, or redundant explanations -- the best-performing model, O3 Mini, achieves merely 70% accuracy, primarily on basic undergraduate-level constructive tasks. Performance declines sharply on more complex problems, with models failing to provide substantive strategies for open problems. These findings suggest that, although current LLMs display a degree of constructive proficiency on familiar and lower-difficulty problems, such performance is likely attributable to the recombination of memorized patterns rather than authentic creative insight or novel synthesis.

Non-collapsed finite time singularities of the Ricci flow on compact K\"ahler surfaces are of Type I

We show that any non-collapsed finite time singularity of the Ricci flow on a compact K\"ahler surface is of Type I. Combined with a previous result of the first author, Cifarelli, and Deruelle, it follows that any such singularity is modeled on the shrinking Ricci soliton of Feldman-Ilmanen-Knopf on the total space of the line bundle $\mathcal{O}_{\mathbb{P}^1}(-1)\to\mathbb{P}^{1}$.

Local singularities of compact multiply warped Ricci flow solutions

We demonstrate that any four-dimensional shrinking Ricci soliton $(\mathcal B \times {\mathbb S^2}, g)$, where $\mathcal B$ is any two-dimensional complete noncompact surface and $g$ is a warped product metric over the base $\mathcal B$, has to be isometric to the generalized cylinder $\mathbb R^2\times\mathbb S^2$ equipped with the standard cylindrical metric. After completing this classification, we study Ricci flow solutions that are multiply warped products -- but not products -- and provide rigorous examples of the formation of generalized cylinder singularity models $\mathbb R^k\times\mathbb S^\ell$.

On noncollapsed $\mathbb{F}$-limit metric solitons

A noncollapsed $\mathbb{F}$-limit metric soliton is a self-similar singularity model that inevitably arises when studying the Ricci flow with the tool of $\mathbb{F}$-convergence [Bam20a,Bam20b,Bam20c]. In this article, we shall present a systematic study of the noncollapsed $\mathbb{F}$-limit metric soliton, and show that, apart from the known results in [Bam20c], it satisfies many properties of smooth Ricci shrinkers. In particular, we show a quadratic lower bound for the scalar curvature, a local gap theorem, a global Sobolev inequality, and an optimal volume growth lower bound.

Unique Asymptotics of Steady Ricci Solitons with Symmetry

In this paper we study 4d gradient steady Ricci solitons, which are weak $κ$-solutions, and admit O(3)-symmetry. Under a weak curvature decay condition, we find precise geometric asymptotics of such solitons, which are similar to those for 3d compact $κ$-solutions found in [ABDS22]. This is the first step towards the classification of 4d gradient steady Ricci solitons and more general ancient Ricci flows.

Local smooth convergence of $\mathbb{F}$-limit flows

The metric flow is introduced and extensively studied by Bamler [Bam20b, Bam20c], especially as an $\mathbb{F}$-limit of a sequence of smooth Ricci flows with uniformly bounded Nash entropy, in which case each regular point on the limit is a point of smooth convergence. In this note, we shall consider the $\mathbb{F}$-convergence of a sequence of $\mathbb{F}$-limit flows, and, like Bamler, show that each regular point on the limit is also a point of smooth convergence. The main result will be applied in a forthcoming work of the authors [CMZ23].

Dimension Reduction for Positively Curved Steady Solitons

We consider noncollapsed steady gradient Ricci solitons with nonnegative sectional curvature. We show that such solitons always dimension reduce at infinity. This generalizes an earlier result in [CDM22] to higher dimensions. In dimension four, we classify possible reductions at infinity, which lays foundation for possible classifications of steady solitons. Moreover, we show that any tangent flow at infinity of a general noncollapsed steady soliton must split off a line. This generalizes an earlier result in [BCDMZ21] to higher dimensions. While this article is under preparation, we realized that part of our main results are proved independently in a recent post [ZZ23] under different assumptions.

A local gap theorem for Ricci shrinkers

We prove a local gap theorem for Ricci shrinkers, which states that if the local $μ$-functional at scale $1$ on a large ball centered at the minimum point of the potential function is close enough to $0$, then the shrinker must be the flat gaussian shrinker. In relation to our result, Yokota [Yo09,Yo12] proved the same result assuming the global $μ$-functional to be close enough to $0$. Our result shows an aspect of how the local geometry of a shrinker controls the global geometry, which is also discussed in [LW19,LW20,LW21].

Lower bounds for the scalar curvatures of Ricci flow singularity models

In a series of papers, Bamler [Bam20a,Bam20b,Bam20c] further developed the high-dimensional theory of Hamilton's Ricci flow to include new monotonicity formulas, a completely general compactness theorem, and a long-sought partial regularity theory analogous to Cheeger--Colding theory. In this paper we give an application of his theory to lower bounds for the scalar curvatures of singularity models for Ricci flow. In the case of $4$-dimensional non-Ricci-flat steady soliton singularity models, we obtain as a consequence a quadratic decay lower bound for the scalar curvature.

On Four-dimensional Steady gradient Ricci solitons that dimension reduce

In this paper, we will study the asymptotic geometry of 4-dimensional steady gradient Ricci solitons under the condition that they dimension reduce to $3$-manifolds. We will show that such 4-dimensional steady gradient Ricci solitons either dimension reduce to a spherical space form $\mathbb{S}^3/Γ$ or weakly dimension reduce to the $3$-dimensional Bryant soliton. We also show that 4-dimensional steady gradient Ricci soliton singularity models with nonnegative Ricci curvature outside a compact set either are Ricci-flat ALE $4$-manifolds or dimension reduce to $3$-dimensional manifolds. As an application, we prove that any steady gradient Kähler-Ricci soliton singularity models on complex surfaces with nonnegative Ricci curvature outside a compact set must be hyperkähler ALE Ricc-flat $4$-manifolds.

Four-Dimensional Steady Gradient Ricci Solitons with $3$-Cylindrical Tangent Flows at Infinity

In this paper we consider $4$-dimensional steady soliton singularity models, i.e., complete steady gradient Ricci solitons that arise as the rescaled limit of a finite time singular solution of the Ricci flow on a closed $4$-manifold. In particular, we study the geometry at infinity of such Ricci solitons under the assumption that their tangent flow at infinity is the product of $\mathbb{R}$ with a $3$-dimensional spherical space form. We also classify the tangent flows at infinity of $4$-dimensional steady soliton singularity models in general.

Volume growth estimates of gradient Ricci solitons

In this paper, we survey the volume growth estimates for shrinking, steady, and expanding gradient Ricci solitons. Together with the known results, we also prove some new volume growth estimates for expanding gradient Ricci solitons.

The rate of $\mathbb{F}$-convergence for Ricci flows with closed and smooth tangent flows

This article is a continuation of [CMZ21b], where we proved that a Ricci flow with a closed and smooth tangent flow has unique tangent flow, and its corresponding forward or backward modified Ricci flow converges in the rate of $t^{-β}$ for some $β>0$. In this article, we calculate the corresponding $\mathbb{F}$-convergence rate: after being scaled by a factor $λ>0$, a Ricci flow with closed and smooth tangent flow is $|\log λ|^{-θ}$ close to its tangent flow in the $\mathbb{F}$-sense, where $θ$ is a positive number, $λ\gg 1$ in the blow-up case, and $λ\ll 1$ in the blow-down case.

Hamilton-Ivey estimates for gradient Ricci solitons

We first show that any $4$-dimensional non-Ricci-flat steady gradient Ricci soliton singularity model must satisfy $|Rm|\leq cR$ for some positive constant $c$. Then, we apply the Hamilton-Ivey estimate to prove a quantitative lower bound of the curvature operator for $4$-dimensional steady gradient solitons with linear scalar curvatrue decay and proper potential function. The technique is also used to establish a sufficient condition for a $3$-dimensional expanding gradient Ricci soliton to have positive curvature. This sufficient condition is satisfied by a large class of conical expanders. As an application, we remove the positive curvature condition in a classification result by Chodosh 14 in dimension three and show that any $3$-dimensional gradient Ricci expander $C^2$ asymptotic to $\left(C(\mathbb S^2), dt^2+αt^2 g_{\mathbb{S}^2}\right)$ is rotationally symmetric, where $α\in (0,1]$ is a constant and $g_{\mathbb{S}^2}$ is the standard metric on $\mathbb{S}^2$ with constant curvature $1$.

A local Sobolev inequality on Ricci flow and its applications

In this article, we prove a local Sobolev inequality for complete Ricci flows. Our main result is that the local $ν$-functional of a disk on a Ricci flow depends only on the Nash entropy based at the center of the disk, and consequently depends only on the volume of the disk. Furthermore, we introduce some applications of this local Sobolev inequality. These applications reveal the way in which the local geometry evolves along Ricci flow. In particular, we show that several classical theorems related to Perelman's monotonicity formula can be derived from our results.

On Ricci flows with closed and smooth tangent flows

In this paper, we consider Ricci flows admitting closed and smooth tangent flows in the sense of Bamler [Bam20c]. The tangent flow in question can be either a tangent flow at infinity for an ancient Ricci flow, or a tangent flow at a singular point for a Ricci flow developing a finite-time singularity. Among other things, we prove: (1) that in these cases the tangent flow must be unique, (2) that if a Ricci flow with finite-time singularity has a closed singularity model, then the singularity is of Type I and the singularity model is the tangent flow at the singular point; this answers a question proposed in [CCGGIIKLLN10], (3) a dichotomy theorem that characterizes ancient Ricci flows admitting a closed and smooth backward sequential limit.

An optimal volume growth estimate for noncollapsed steady gradient Ricci solitons

In this paper, we prove a volume growth estimate for steady gradient Ricci solitons with bounded Nash entropy. We show that such a steady gradient Ricci soliton has volume growth rate no smaller than $r^{\frac{n+1}{2}}.$ This result not only improves the estimate in [CMZ21b, Theorem 1.3], but also is optimal since the Bryant soliton and Appleton's solitons [Ap17] have exactly this growth rate.
