Beyond Prompt: Fine-grained Simulation of Cognitively Impaired Standardized Patients via Stochastic Steering

Simulating Standardized Patients with cognitive impairment offers a scalable and ethical solution for clinical training. However, existing methods rely on discrete prompt engineering and fail to capture the heterogeneity of deficits across varying domains and severity levels. To address this limitation, we propose StsPatient for the fine-grained simulation of cognitively impaired patients. We innovatively capture domain-specific features by extracting steering vectors from contrastive pairs of instructions and responses. Furthermore, we introduce a Stochastic Token Modulation (STM) mechanism to regulate the intervention probability. STM enables precise control over impairment severity while mitigating the instability of conventional vector methods. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that StsPatient significantly outperforms baselines in both clinical authenticity and severity controllability.

Fake-Mamba: Real-Time Speech Deepfake Detection Using Bidirectional Mamba as Self-Attention's Alternative

Advances in speech synthesis intensify security threats, motivating real-time deepfake detection research. We investigate whether bidirectional Mamba can serve as a competitive alternative to Self-Attention in detecting synthetic speech. Our solution, Fake-Mamba, integrates an XLSR front-end with bidirectional Mamba to capture both local and global artifacts. Our core innovation introduces three efficient encoders: TransBiMamba, ConBiMamba, and PN-BiMamba. Leveraging XLSR's rich linguistic representations, PN-BiMamba can effectively capture the subtle cues of synthetic speech. Evaluated on ASVspoof 21 LA, 21 DF, and In-The-Wild benchmarks, Fake-Mamba achieves 0.97%, 1.74%, and 5.85% EER, respectively, representing substantial relative gains over SOTA models XLSR-Conformer and XLSR-Mamba. The framework maintains real-time inference across utterance lengths, demonstrating strong generalization and practical viability. The code is available at https://github.com/xuanxixi/Fake-Mamba.

Robust globally divergence-free HDG finite element method for steady thermally coupled incompressible MHD flow

This paper develops an hybridizable discontinuous Galerkin (HDG) finite element method of arbitrary order for the steady thermally coupled incompressible Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) flow. The HDG scheme uses piecewise polynomials of degrees $k(k\geq 1),k,k-1,k-1$, and $k$ respectively for the approximations of the velocity, the magnetic field, the pressure, the magnetic pseudo-pressure, and the temperature in the interior of elements, and uses piecewise polynomials of degree $k$ for their numerical traces on the interfaces of elements. The method is shown to yield globally divergence-free approximations of the velocity and magnetic fields. Existence and uniqueness results for the discrete scheme are given and optimal a priori error estimates are derived. Numerical experiments are provided to verify the obtained theoretical results.

Semi-discrete and fully discrete weak Galerkin finite element methods for a quasistatic Maxwell viscoelastic model

This paper considers weak Galerkin finite element approximations for a quasistatic Maxwell viscoelastic model. The spatial discretization uses piecewise polynomials of degree $k \ (k\geq 1)$ for the stress approximation, degree $k+1$ for the velocity approximation, and degree $k$ for the numerical trace of velocity on the inter-element boundaries. The temporal discretization in the fully discrete method adopts a backward Euler difference scheme. We show the existence and uniqueness of the semi-discrete and fully discrete solutions, and derive optimal a priori error estimates. Numerical examples are provided to support the theoretical analysis.

Semi-discrete and fully discrete HDG methods for Burgers' equation

This paper proposes semi-discrete and fully discrete hybridizable discontinuous Galerkin (HDG) methods for the Burgers' equation in two and three dimensions. In the spatial discretization, we use piecewise polynomials of degrees $ k \ (k \geq 1), k-1$ and $ l \ (l=k-1; k) $ to approximate the scalar function, flux variable and the interface trace of scalar function, respectively. In the full discretization method, we apply a backward Euler scheme for the temporal discretization. Optimal a priori error estimates are derived. Numerical experiments are presented to support the theoretical results.
