V3DB: Audit-on-Demand Zero-Knowledge Proofs for Verifiable Vector Search over Committed Snapshots

Dense retrieval services increasingly underpin semantic search, recommendation, and retrieval-augmented generation, yet clients typically receive only a top-$k$ list with no auditable evidence of how it was produced. We present V3DB, a verifiable, versioned vector-search service that enables audit-on-demand correctness checks for approximate nearest-neighbour (ANN) retrieval executed by a potentially untrusted service provider. V3DB commits to each corpus snapshot and standardises an IVF-PQ search pipeline into a fixed-shape, five-step query semantics. Given a public snapshot commitment and a query embedding, the service returns the top-$k$ payloads and, when challenged, produces a succinct zero-knowledge proof that the output is exactly the result of executing the published semantics on the committed snapshot -- without revealing the embedding corpus or private index contents. To make proving practical, V3DB avoids costly in-circuit sorting and random access by combining multiset equality/inclusion checks with lightweight boundary conditions. Our prototype implementation based on Plonky2 achieves up to $22\times$ faster proving and up to $40\%$ lower peak memory consumption than the circuit-only baseline, with millisecond-level verification time. OpenTable-R1: A Reinforcement Learning Augmented Tool Agent for Open-Domain Table Question Answering

Open-domain table question answering traditionally relies on a two-stage pipeline: static table retrieval followed by a closed-domain answer. In contrast, we propose an end-to-end agentic framework that embeds multi-turn tool calls-using a BM25+-based search API and a SQLite SQL executor-directly into a large language model. To further adapt a compact 4B-parameter model, we introduce a two-stage fine-tuning process: supervised cold-start on easy questions, then Async GRPO reinforcement learning on harder cases with LoRA adapters and a rollout buffer. This unified approach enables the model to jointly retrieve, reason, and execute queries, yielding a dramatic accuracy improvement from single-digit zero-shot performance to over 0.86 exact match on a held-out test set. Our results underscore the effectiveness of integrating structured tool calls with targeted RL fine-tuning for scalable, accurate table QA. The code is available at https://github.com/TabibitoQZP/OpenTableR1.

TQA-Bench: Evaluating LLMs for Multi-Table Question Answering

The advance of large language models (LLMs) has unlocked great opportunities in complex multi-modal data management tasks, particularly in question answering (QA) over complicated multi-table relational data. Despite significant progress, systematically evaluating LLMs on multi-table QA remains a critical challenge due to the inherent complexity of analyzing the modality of relational data structures and the potentially large scale of serialized tabular data. Existing benchmarks primarily focus on single-table QA, failing to capture the intricacies of connections across multiple relational tables, as required in real-world domains such as finance, healthcare, and e-commerce. We present TQA-Bench, a long-context analytical multi-table QA benchmark derived from real-world public datasets, with a flexible sampling mechanism that varies context length (8K--64K tokens) and symbolic extensions for assessing reasoning beyond retrieval and pattern matching. We systematically evaluate a set of LLMs spanning model scales from 2 billion to 671 billion parameters. Our extensive experiments reveal critical insights into the performance of LLMs in multi-table QA, highlighting both challenges and opportunities for advancing their application in complex, data-driven environments.
