A Novel Approach for Bent Functions with Dillon-like Exponents and Characterizing Three Classes of Bent Functions via Kloosterman Sums

Dillon-like Boolean functions are known, in the literature, to be those trace polynomial functions from $\mathbb{F}_{2^{2n}}$ to $\mathbb{F}_{2}$, with all the exponents being multiples of $2^n-1$ often called Dillon-like exponents. This paper is devoted to bent functions in which we study the bentness of some classes of Dillon-like Boolean functions connected with rational trace functions. Specifically, we introduce a special infinite family of trace rational functions. We shall use these functions as building blocks and generalise notably a criterion due to Li et al. published in [IEEE Trans. Inf. Theory 59(3), pp. 1818-1831, 2013] on the bentness of Dillon-like functions in the binary case, we explicitly characterize three classes of bent functions. These characterizations are expressed in terms of the well-known binary Kloosterman sums. Furthermore, analysis and experiments indicate that new functions not EA-equivalent to all known classes of monomial functions are included in our classes.

A class of APcN power functions over finite fields of even characteristic

In this paper, we investigate the power functions $F(x)=x^d$ over the finite field $\mathbb{F}_{2^{4n}}$, where $n$ is a positive integer and $d=2^{3n}+2^{2n}+2^{n}-1$. It is proved that $F(x)=x^d$ is APcN at certain $c$'s in $\mathbb{F}_{2^{4n}}$, and it is the second class of APcN power functions over finite fields of even characteristic. Further, the $c$-differential spectrum of these power functions is also determined.

Determination of a Class of Permutation Trinomials in Characteristic Three

Let $f(X)=X(1+aX^{q(q-1)}+bX^{2(q-1)})\in\Bbb F_{q^2}[X]$, where $a,b\in\Bbb F_{q^2}^*$. In a series of recent papers by several authors, sufficient conditions on $a$ and $b$ were found for $f$ to be a permutation polynomial (PP) of $\Bbb F_{q^2}$ and, in characteristic $2$, the sufficient conditions were shown to be necessary. In the present paper, we confirm that in characteristic 3, the sufficient conditions are also necessary. More precisely, we show that when $\text{char}\,\Bbb F_q=3$, $f$ is a PP of $\Bbb F_{q^2}$ if and only if $(ab)^q=a(b^{q+1}-a^{q+1})$ and $1-(b/a)^{q+1}$ is a square in $\Bbb F_q^*$.

A Class of Binomial Permutation Polynomials

In this note, a criterion for a class of binomials to be permutation polynomials is proposed. As a consequence, many classes of binomial permutation polynomials and monomial complete permutation polynomials are obtained. The exponents in these monomials are of Niho type.
