Self-Trapping Enabled Highly Bright Momentum-Indirect Interlayer Excitons

Interlayer excitons in two dimensional material heterostructures exhibit large exciton binding energies and long lifetimes, making them ideal platforms for studying excitonic devices and many body quantum phenomena. However, the spatially separated electron and hole nature of IXs reduces their oscillator strength by two orders of magnitude compared to intralayer excitons. Achieving high efficiency IX emission remains challenging and requires optimal material selection with appropriate momentum matching and meticulous device fabrication. Here we demonstrate a highly bright momentum indirect IX emission within heterostructures formed between 2D perovskites and monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides. The quantum yield of IX emission reaches 35.2% on average, over 50 times higher than that of the corresponding constituent TMD monolayer, with the highest value exceeding 60%. Notably, the radiative recombination efficiency of this momentum indirect IX exceeds that of momentum direct IXs in monolayer TMD-based heterostructures by two orders of magnitude. We suggest that the remarkably bright IX emission in our heterostructure originates from IX self trapping, induced by strong exciton phonon coupling arising from the soft lattice nature of the 2D perovskite. Our findings provide new insights into achieving high IX emission efficiency and open new avenues for exploring long lifetime excitonic devices.

RIS-Aided E2E Multi-Path Uplink Transmission Optimization for 6G Time-Sensitive Services

The Access Traffic Steering, Switching, and Splitting (ATSSS) defined in the latest 3GPP Release 19 enables traffic flow over the multiple access paths to achieve the lower-latency End-to-end (E2E) delivery for 6G time-sensitive services. However, the existing E2E multi-path operation often falls short of more stringent QoS requirements for 6G time-sensitive services. This work proposes a Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS)-aided E2E multi-path uplink (UL) transmission architecture that explicitly accounts for both radio link latency and N3 backhaul latency, via the coupled designs of the UL traffic-splitting ratio, transmit power, receive combining, and RIS phase shift under practical constraints to achieve the minimum average E2E latency. We develop an alternating optimization framework that updates the above target parameters to be optimized. The simulations were conducted to compare the effectiveness of the proposed E2E optimization framework that lowers the average E2E latency up to 43% for a single user and 32% for the whole system compared with baselines in our prior work [1].

Effects of substrate-surface reconstruction and orientation on spin-valley polarization in MoTe$_2$/EuO

We investigate the spin-valley polarization in MoTe$_2$ monolayer on (111) and (001) surfaces of ferromagnetic semiconductor EuO based on first-principles calculations. We consider surface reconstructions for EuO(111). We find that there is no direct chemical bonding between the reconstructed EuO(111) and the MoTe$_2$ overlayer, in contrast to the case of the ideal EuO(111). However, there is a strong hybridization between the states of MoTe$_2$ and the substrate states, which has a substantial impact on the valleys. The valley polarization due to the magnetic proximity effect is dependent on the detail of the interface structure, which is in the range of a few meV to about 40 meV. These values are at least one order of magnitude smaller than that induced by the ideal EuO(111). When the MoTe$_2$ monolayer is interfaced with EuO(001), the valley polarization is about 3.2 meV, insensitive to the interface structure. By a low-energy effective Hamiltonian model, the effective Zeeman field induced by EuO(001) is about 27 T, comparable to that for WSe$_2$/EuS obtained by experiment.
