HMS-BERT: Hybrid Multi-Task Self-Training for Multilingual and Multi-Label Cyberbullying Detection

Cyberbullying on social media is inherently multilingual and multi-faceted, where abusive behaviors often overlap across multiple categories. Existing methods are commonly limited by monolingual assumptions or single-task formulations, which restrict their effectiveness in realistic multilingual and multi-label scenarios. In this paper, we propose HMS-BERT, a hybrid multi-task self-training framework for multilingual and multi-label cyberbullying detection. Built upon a pretrained multilingual BERT backbone, HMS-BERT integrates contextual representations with handcrafted linguistic features and jointly optimizes a fine-grained multi-label abuse classification task and a three-class main classification task. To address labeled data scarcity in low-resource languages, an iterative self-training strategy with confidence-based pseudo-labeling is introduced to facilitate cross-lingual knowledge transfer. Experiments on four public datasets demonstrate that HMS-BERT achieves strong performance, attaining a macro F1-score of up to 0.9847 on the multi-label task and an accuracy of 0.6775 on the main classification task. Ablation studies further verify the effectiveness of the proposed components.

Replicating the behaviour of electric vehicle drivers using an agent-based reinforcement learning model

Despite the rapid expansion of electric vehicle (EV) charging networks, questions remain about their efficiency in meeting the growing needs of EV drivers. Previous simulation-based approaches, which rely on static behavioural rules, have struggled to capture the adaptive behaviours of human drivers. Although reinforcement learning has been introduced in EV simulation studies, its application has primarily focused on optimising fleet operations rather than modelling private drivers who make independent charging decisions. To address the gap, we propose a multi-stage reinforcement learning framework that simulates charging demand of private EV drivers across a national-scale road network. We validate the model against real-world data and identify the training stage that most closely reflects actual driver behaviour, which captures both the adaptive behaviours and bounded rationality of private drivers. Based on the simulation results, we also identify critical 'charging deserts' where EV drivers consistently have low state of charge. Our findings also highlight recent policy shifts toward expanding rapid charging hubs along motorway corridors and city boundaries to meet the demand from long-distance trips.

On Game based Distributed Approach for General Multi-agent Optimal Coverage with Application to UAV Networks

This paper focuses on the optimal coverage problem (OCP) for multi-agent systems with a decentralized optimization mechanism. A game based distributed decision-making method for the multi-agent OCP is proposed to address the high computational costs arising from the large scale of the multi-agent system and to ensure that the game's equilibrium achieves the global performance objective's maximum value. In particular, a distributed algorithm that needs only local information is developed and proved to converge to near-optimal global coverage. Finally, the proposed method is applied to maximize the coverage area of the UAV network for a target region. The simulation results show that our method can require much less computational time than other typical distributed algorithms in related work, while achieving a faster convergence rate. Comparison with centralized optimization also demonstrates that the proposed method has approximate optimization results and high computation efficiency.

Consumption-investment optimization with Epstein-Zin utility in unbounded non-Markovian markets

The paper investigates the consumption-investment problem for an investor with Epstein-Zin utility in an incomplete market. A non-Markovian environment with unbounded parameters is considered, which is more realistic in practical financial scenarios compared to the Markovian setting. The optimal consumption and investment strategies are derived using the martingale optimal principle and quadratic backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs) whose solutions admit some exponential moment. This integrability property plays a crucial role in establishing a key martingale argument. In addition, the paper also examines the associated dual problem and several models within the specified parameter framework.

Optimal consumption and portfolio selection with Epstein-Zin utility under general constraints

The paper investigates the consumption-investment problem for an investor with Epstein-Zin utility in an incomplete market. Closed, not necessarily convex, constraints are imposed on strategies. The optimal consumption and investment strategies are characterized via a quadratic backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE). Due to the stochastic market environment, the solution to this BSDE is unbounded and thereby the BMO argument breaks down. After establishing the martingale optimality criterion, by delicately selecting Lyapunov functions, the verification theorem is ultimately obtained. Besides, several examples and numerical simulations for the optimal strategies are provided and illustrated.

Robust optimized certainty equivalents and quantiles for loss positions with distribution uncertainty

This paper investigates the robust optimized certainty equivalents and analyzes their properties as risk measures under distribution uncertainty. Building on this, robust generalized quantiles are proposed and discussed. We then consider robust expectiles with two specific penalization functions. For the one with a linear penalization function, it is proved to be a coherent risk measure and its dual representation is provided. Furthermore, numerical simulations are conducted to examine the effect of the penalization functions on the robust expectiles and to compare them with classical expectiles.
