Memory-driven Topological Defects and Unconventional Long-Range Order

We investigate many-body systems with time-delayed self-interactions mediated by a memory-feedback mechanism. We show that such temporal interactions generate non-equilibrium orders and unique topological defects absent in equilibrium-specifically, helical vortices wherein opposite vorticities propagate in reverse directions along domain walls. In one dimension, memory feedback stabilizes true long-range order against weak noise, thereby circumventing the Mermin-Wagner theorem and resulting in an unconventional finite-temperature phase transition with a dynamical exponent $z = 4$. Physical realizations of these memory-driven non-equilibrium systems using active mechatronic metamaterials has also been proposed. These results demonstrate engineered temporal interactions as a powerful paradigm for non-equilibrium many-body physics.

The influence of the transverse electric field on accelerating vortex state in the axisymmetric electric field

The relativistic vortex states of massive charged particles propagating in non-uniform axisymmetric electric field are studied. Starting from the stationary-state equation after the relativistic Foldy-Wouthuysen (FW) transformation and employing the paraxial approximation, the coupled evolution equations for the beam width, wavefront curvature, and Gouy phase are derived. The equations are solved numerically for a quadratic electrostatic potential, an immersion lens, and an einzel lens. The essential influence of the transverse field on beam evolution is demonstrated. The results provide a relativistic quantum framework for controlling accelerated vortex particle beams using electrostatic fields.

CoLVR: Enhancing Exploratory Latent Visual Reasoning via Contrastive Optimization

Due to the potential for exploratory reasoning of Latent Visual Reasoning, recent works tend to enable MLLMs (Multimodal Large Language Models) to perform visual reasoning by propagating continuous hidden states instead of decoding intermediate steps into discrete tokens. However, existing works typically rely on hard alignment objectives to force latent representations to match predefined visual features, thereby severely limiting the exploratory of latent reasoning process. To address this problem, we propose CoLVR (Contrastive Optimization for Latent Visual Reasoning). To obtain a more exploratory visual reasoning, CoLVR introduces a latent contrastive training framework. Firstly, CoLVR learns diverse and exploratory representations with a latent contrastive objective guided by angle-based perturbation, which expands the semantic latent space and avoids over-constrained embedding. Then, CoLVR employs a latent trajectory contrastive reward for RL (Reinforcement Learning) post-training to enable fine-grained optimization of latent visual reasoning process and thus fostering diverse reasoning behaviors. Experiments demonstrate that CoLVR significantly enhances the exploratory capability of latent representations, achieving average improvements of 5.83% on VSP and 8.00% on Jigsaw, while also outperforming existing latent models on out of domain benchmarks, with a 3.40% gain on MMStar. LLM-based Personalized Portfolio Recommender: Integrating Large Language Models and Reinforcement Learning for Intelligent Investment Strategy Optimization

In modern financial markets, investors increasingly seek personalized and adaptive portfolio strategies that reflect their individual risk preferences and respond to dynamic market conditions. Traditional rule-based or static optimization approaches often fail to capture the nonlinear interactions among investor behavior, market volatility, and evolving financial objectives. To address these limitations, this paper introduces the LLM-based Personalized Portfolio Recommender , an integrated framework that combines Large Language Models, reinforcement learning, and individualized risk preference modeling to support intelligent investment decision-making.

SeqUDA-Rec: Sequential User Behavior Enhanced Recommendation via Global Unsupervised Data Augmentation for Personalized Content Marketing

Personalized content marketing has become a crucial strategy for digital platforms, aiming to deliver tailored advertisements and recommendations that match user preferences. Traditional recommendation systems often suffer from two limitations: (1) reliance on limited supervised signals derived from explicit user feedback, and (2) vulnerability to noisy or unintentional interactions. To address these challenges, we propose SeqUDA-Rec, a novel deep learning framework that integrates user behavior sequences with global unsupervised data augmentation to enhance recommendation accuracy and robustness. Our approach first constructs a Global User-Item Interaction Graph (GUIG) from all user behavior sequences, capturing both local and global item associations. Then, a graph contrastive learning module is applied to generate robust embeddings, while a sequential Transformer-based encoder models users' evolving preferences. To further enhance diversity and counteract sparse supervised labels, we employ a GAN-based augmentation strategy, generating plausible interaction patterns and supplementing training data. Extensive experiments on two real-world marketing datasets (Amazon Ads and TikTok Ad Clicks) demonstrate that SeqUDA-Rec significantly outperforms state-of-the-art baselines such as SASRec, BERT4Rec, and GCL4SR. Our model achieves a 6.7% improvement in NDCG@10 and 11.3% improvement in HR@10, proving its effectiveness in personalized advertising and intelligent content recommendation.

KARL: Knowledge-Aware Reasoning and Reinforcement Learning for Knowledge-Intensive Visual Grounding

Knowledge-Intensive Visual Grounding (KVG) requires models to localize objects using fine-grained, domain-specific entity names rather than generic referring expressions. Although Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) possess rich entity knowledge and strong generic grounding capabilities, they often fail to effectively utilize such knowledge when grounding specialized concepts, revealing a knowledge-grounding gap between internal knowledge and grounding predictions. To address this challenge, we propose a knowledge-aware training paradigm for KVG. Our approach first constructs knowledge-guided reasoning data to encourage models to activate domain-relevant entity knowledge during grounding, and then introduces KARL, a Knowledge-Aware Reinforcement Learning framework that adaptively modulates reward signals according to the model's estimated knowledge mastery of different entities. To facilitate systematic evaluation, we introduce KVG-Bench, a benchmark spanning 10 domains with 1.3K curated test cases covering 531 images and 882 entities. Extensive experiments show that our approach consistently outperforms a wide range of baseline models and achieves substantially stronger cross-domain generalization on unseen categories. The data, codes, and models are released at https://github.com/thunlp/KARL.

Using prior information to boost power in correlation structure support recovery

Hypothesis testing of structure in correlation and covariance matrices is of broad interest in many application areas. In high dimensions and/or small to moderate sample sizes, high error rates in testing is a substantial concern. This article focuses on increasing power through a frequentist assisted by Bayes (FAB) procedure. This FAB approach boosts power by including prior information on the correlation parameters. In particular, we suppose there is one of two sources of prior information: (i) a prior dataset that is distinct from the current data but related enough that it may contain valuable information about the correlation structure in the current data; and (ii) knowledge about a tendency for the correlations in different parameters to be similar so that it is appropriate to consider a hierarchical model. When the prior information is relevant, the proposed FAB approach can have significant gains in power. A divide-and-conquer algorithm is developed to reduce computational complexity in massive testing dimensions. We show improvements in power for detecting correlated gene pairs in genomic studies while maintaining control of Type I error or false discover rate (FDR).

At the Intersection of Deep Sequential Model Framework and State-space Model Framework: Study on Option Pricing

Inference and forecast problems of the nonlinear dynamical system have arisen in a variety of contexts. Reservoir computing and deep sequential models, on the one hand, have demonstrated efficient, robust, and superior performance in modeling simple and chaotic dynamical systems. However, their innate deterministic feature has partially detracted their robustness to noisy system, and their inability to offer uncertainty measurement has also been an insufficiency of the framework. On the other hand, the traditional state-space model framework is robust to noise. It also carries measured uncertainty, forming a just-right complement to the reservoir computing and deep sequential model framework. We propose the unscented reservoir smoother, a model that unifies both deep sequential and state-space models to achieve both frameworks' superiorities. Evaluated in the option pricing setting on top of noisy datasets, URS strikes highly competitive forecasting accuracy, especially those of longer-term, and uncertainty measurement. Further extensions and implications on URS are also discussed to generalize a full integration of both frameworks.
