Equivariant Nijenhuis Lie Algebras: Extensions to Classical Lie-Theoretic Structures

We develop a theory of equivariant Nijenhuis Lie algebras (ENL algebras), namely Lie algebras equipped with Nijenhuis operators satisfying an equivariance condition with respect to the adjoint representation. This compatibility condition allows classical Lie bialgebra constructions to extend naturally to the operator-equipped setting. Within this framework, we define ENL bialgebras and establish the associated notions of matched pairs, Manin triples, and Drinfel'd doubles. We show that coboundary ENL bialgebras are characterized by EN $r$-matrices satisfying an equivariant classical Yang-Baxter equation. We further introduce EN-relative Rota-Baxter operators and prove that they provide an operator-theoretic realization of such $r$-matrices, leading to descendant ENL algebras and to solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation on semidirect ENL algebras. In the quadratic case, this construction recovers Rota-Baxter operators of weight zero. Finally, we extend the EN framework to pre-Lie algebras and show that pre-ENL algebras naturally induce associated ENL structures.

Metric degeneracies and gradient flows on symplectic leaves

For a Poisson manifold endowed with a pseudo-Riemannian metric, we investigate degeneracies arising when the metric is restricted to symplectic leaves. Central to this work is the generalized double bracket (GDB) vector field-a geometric construct introduced in our earlier work-which generalizes gradient dynamics to indefinite metric settings. We identify admissible regions where the so-called double bracket metric remains non-degenerate on symplectic leaves, enabling the GDB vector field to function as a gradient flow on the admissible regions with respect to this metric. We illustrate these concepts with a variety of examples and carefully discuss the complications that arise when the pseudo-Riemannian metric fails to induce a non-degenerate metric on certain regions of the symplectic leaves.

Generalized double bracket vector fields

We generalize double bracket vector fields, originally defined on semisimple Lie algebras, to Poisson manifolds equipped with a pseudo-Riemannian metric by utilizing a symmetric contravariant 2-tensor field. We extend the normal metric on an adjoint orbit of a compact semisimple Lie algebra to ensure that these vector fields become gradient vector fields on each symplectic leaf. Furthermore, we apply this construction to enhance the equilibria of Hamiltonian systems, specifically addressing the challenge of asymptotically stabilizing points that are already stable, through dissipation terms derived from generalized double bracket vector fields.

NL bialgebras

In this paper, we introduce the concept of (weak) NL bialgebras. These structures consist of a Lie bialgebra $(\g,[\cdot,\cdot],δ)$ equipped with a Nijenhuis structure on the Lie algebra $(\g,[\cdot,\cdot])$, satisfying specific compatibility conditions. This construction is analogous to Poisson-Nijenhuis structures studied in the context of integrable systems. We further investigate NL bialgebras that generate a compatible hierarchy of bialgebras, both on the original Lie algebra and its deformed versions, through the Nijenhuis structure of any order. Additionally, we demonstrate that the underlying algebraic structure of a particular case of the Euler-top system is a weak NL bialgebra.

VB-structures and generalizations

Motivated by properties of higher tangent lifts of geometric structures, we introduce concepts of weighted structures for various geometric objects on a manifold F equipped with a homogeneity structure. The latter is a smooth action on F of the monoid of multiplicative reals. Vector bundles are particular cases of homogeneity structures with the action being the multiplication of vectors by reals, and weighted structures on them we call VB-structures. In the case of Lie algebroids and Lie groupoids, the weighted structures include the concepts of VB-algebroids and VB-groupoids, intensively studied recently in the literature. Investigating various weighted structures, we prove some interesting results about their properties.

Nonassociative analogs of Lie groupoids

We introduce nonassociative geometric objects generalising naturally Lie groupoids and called (smooth) quasiloopoids and loopoids. We prove that the tangent bundles of smooth loopoids are canonically smooth loopoids again (it is nontrivial in the case of loopoids). We show also that this is not true if the cotangent bundles are concerned. After providing a few natural constructions, we show how the Lie-like functor associates with loopoids skew-algebroids and almost Lie algebroids and how discrete mechanics on Lie groupoids can be reformulated in the nonassociative case.

Discrete mechanics on unitary octonions

In this article we generalize the discrete Lagrangian and Hamiltonian mechanics on Lie groups to non-associative objects generalizing Lie groups (smooth loops). This shows that the associativity assumption is not crucial for mechanics and opens new perspectives. As a working example we obtain the discrete Lagrangian and Hamiltonian mechanics on unitary octonions.

Transitive nilpotent Lie algebras of vector fields and their Tanaka prolongations

Transitive local Lie algebras of vector fields can be easily constructed from dilations of $\mathbb{R}^n$ associating with coordinates positive weights (give me a sequence of $n$ positive integers and I will give you a transitive nilpotent Lie algebra of vector fields on $\mathbb{R}^n$). It is interesting that all transitive nilpotent local Lie algebra of vector fields can be obtained as subalgebras of nilpotent algebras of this kind. Starting with a graded nilpotent Lie algebra one constructs graded parts of its Tanaka prolongations inductively as `derivations of degree 0, 1, etc. Of course, vector fields of weight $k$ with respect to the dilation define automatically derivations of weight $k$, so the Tanaka prolongation is in this case never finite. Are they all such derivations given by vector fields or there are additional `strange'ones? We answer this question. Except for special cases, derivations of degree 0 are given by vector fields of degree 0 and the Tanaka prolongation recovers the whole algebra of polynomial vectors defined by the dilation. However, in some particular cases of dilations we can find `strange' derivations which we describe in detail

Some remarks on invariant Poisson quasi-Nijenhuis structures on Lie groups

We study {\em right-invariant (resp., left-invariant) Poisson quasi-Nijenhuis structures} on a Lie group $G$ and introduce their infinitesimal counterpart, the so-called {\em r-qn structures} on the corresponding Lie algebra $\mathfrak g$. We investigate the procedure of the classification of such structures on the Lie algebras and then for clarity of our results we classify, up to a natural equivalence, all $r$-$qn$ structures on two types of four-dimensional real Lie algebras. We mention some remarks on the relation between $r$-$qn$ structures and the generalized complex structures on the Lie algebras $\mathfrak g$ and also the solutions of modified Yang-Baxter equation on the double of Lie bialgebra $\mathfrak g\oplus\mathfrak g^*$. The results are applied to some relevant examples.

Invariant Poisson-Nijenhuis structures on Lie groups and classification

We study right-invariant (resp., left-invariant) Poisson-Nijenhuis structures on a Lie group $G$ and introduce their infinitesimal counterpart, the so-called r-n structures on the corresponding Lie algebra $\mathfrak g$. We show that $r$-$n$ structures can be used to find compatible solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation. Conversely, two compatible r-matrices from which one is invertible determine an $r$-$n$ structure. We classify, up to a natural equivalence, all $r$-matrices and all $r$-$n$ structures with invertible $r$ on four-dimensional symplectic real Lie algebras. The result is applied to show that a number of dynamical systems which can be constructed by $r$-matrices on a phase space whose symmetry group is Lie group $G$, can be specifically determined.

Poisson-Lie groups, bi-Hamiltonian systems and integrable deformations

Given a Lie-Poisson completely integrable bi-Hamiltonian system on $\mathbb{R}^n$, we present a method which allows us to construct, under certain conditions, a completely integrable bi-Hamiltonian deformation of the initial Lie-Poisson system on a non-abelian Poisson-Lie group $G_η$ of dimension $n$, where $η\in \mathbb{R}$ is the deformation parameter. Moreover, we show that from the two multiplicative (Poisson-Lie) Hamiltonian structures on $G_η$ that underly the dynamics of the deformed system and by making use of the group law on $G_η$, one may obtain two completely integrable Hamiltonian systems on $G_η\times G_η$. By construction, both systems admit reduction, via the multiplication in $G_η$, to the deformed bi-Hamiltonian system in $G_η$. The previous approach is applied to two relevant Lie-Poisson completely integrable bi-Hamiltonian systems: the Lorenz and Euler top systems.
