Creation operators and algebraic Bethe ansatz for the elliptic quantum group $E_{τ,η}(so_3)$

We define the elliptic quantum group $E_{τ,η}(so_3)$ and the transfer matrix corresponding to its simplest highest weight representation. We use Bethe anstaz method to construct the creation operators as polynomials of the Lax matrix elements expressed through a recurrence relation. We give common eigenvectors and eigenvalues of the family of commuting transfer matrices.

QCD and Monte Carlo event generators

Shower Monte Carlo event generators have played an important role in particle physics. Modern experiments would hardly be possible without them. In this talk I discuss how QCD physics is incorporated into the mathematical structure of these programs and I outline recent developments including matching between events with different numbers of hard jets and the inclusion of next-to-leading order effects.

Matching parton showers to NLO computations

We give a prescription for attaching parton showers to next-to-leading order (NLO) partonic jet cross sections in electron-positron annihilation. Our method effectively extends to NLO the scheme of Catani, Krauss, Kuhn, and Webber for matching between m hard jets and (m+1) hard jets. The matching between parton splitting as part of a shower and parton splitting as part of NLO matrix elements is based on the Catani-Seymour dipole subtraction method that is commonly used for removing the singularities from the NLO matrix elements.}

Matching Parton Showers to NLO Computation

In this review a new method is presented for attaching parton shower algorithms to NLO partonic jet cross sections in electron-positron annihilation. Our method is based on the Catani-Seymour dipole subtraction method and also uses an adaptation of the matching scheme of Catani, Krauss, Kuhn, and Webber.

Spin chains from dynamical quadratic algebras

We present a construction of integrable quantum spin chains where local spin-spin interactions are weighted by ``position''-dependent potential containing abelian non-local spin dependance. This construction applies to the previously defined three general quadratic reflection-type algebras: respectively non-dynamical, semidynamical, fully dynamical.

Commuting quantum traces for quadratic algebras

Consistent tensor products on auxiliary spaces, hereafter denoted "fusion procedures", are defined for general quadratic algebras, non-dynamical and dynamical, inspired by results on reflection algebras. Applications of these procedures then yield integer-indexed families of commuting Hamiltonians.

Construction of dynamical quadratic algebras

We propose a dynamical extension of the quantum quadratic exchange algebras introduced by Freidel and Maillet. It admits two distinct fusion structures. A simple example is provided by the scalar Ruijsenaars-Schneider model.

General subtraction method for numerical calculation of one-loop QCD matrix elements

We present a subtraction scheme for eliminating the ultraviolet, soft, and collinear divergences in the numerical calculation of an arbitrary one-loop QCD amplitude with an arbitrary number of external legs. The subtractions consist of local counter terms in the space of the four-dimensional loop momentum. The ultraviolet subtraction terms reproduce MSbar renormalization. The key point in the method for the soft and collinear subtractions is that, although the subtraction terms are defined graph-by-graph and the matrix element is also calculated graph-by-graph, the sum over graphs of the integral of each the subtraction term can be evaluated analytically and provides the well known simple pole structure that arises from subtractions from real emission graphs, but with the opposite sign.

Next-to-leading order calculation of three-jet observables in hadron-hadron collision

The production of the three jets in hadron-hardon collision is the first more complex process which allow us to define a branch of variables in order to do more precise measurement of the strong coupling and the parton distribution function of the proton. This process is also suitable for studying the geometrical properties of the hadronic final state at hadron colliders. This requires next-to-leading order prediction of the three-jet observables. In this paper we describe the theoretical formalism of such a calculation with sufficient details. We use a the dipole method to construct Monte Carlo program for calculating three-jet observables at next-to-leading order accuracy. We present a theoretical prediction for inclusive and exclusive cross section and for some relevant event shape variables like transverse thrust, transverse jet broadening and Et3 variable.

Three-jet cross sections in hadron-hadron collisions at next-to-leading order

We present a new QCD event generator for hadron collider which can calculate one-, two- and three-jet cross sections at next-to-leading order accuracy. In this letter we study the transverse energy spectrum of three-jet hadronic events using the kT algorithm. We show that the next-to-leading order correction significantly reduces the renormalization and factorization scale dependence of the three-jet cross section.

Multi-jet cross sections in deep inelastic scattering at next-to-leading order

We present the perturbative prediction for three-jet production cross section in DIS at the NLO accuracy. We study the dependence on the renormalization and factorization scales of exclusive three-jet cross section. The perturbative prediction for the three-jet differential distribution as a function of the momentum transfer is compared to the corresponding data obtained by the H1 collaboration at HERA.

Four-jet angular distributions and color charge measurements: leading order versus next-to-leading order

We present the next-to-leading order perturbative QCD prediction to the four-jet angular distributions used by experimental collaborations at LEP for measuring the QCD color charge factors. We compare our results to ALEPH data corrected to parton level. We perform a leading order ``measurement'' of the QCD color factor ratios by fitting the leading order perturbative predictions to the next-to-leading order result. Our result shows that in an experimental analysis for measuring the color charge factors the use of the O($α_s^3$) QCD predictions instead of the O($α_s^2$) results may shift the center of the fit by a relative factor of $1+2\as$ in the $T_R/C_F$ direction.

Excluding light gluinos using four-jet LEP events: a next-to-leading order result

Based upon a next-to-leading order perturbative calculation of the four-jet production rate in electron-positron annihilation and assuming 8 % for the theoretical error emerging from hadronization effects in the $0.002\le \ycut \le 0.004$ range for the Durham clustering algorithm, we exclude the existence of the light gluinos at the 95 % confidence level.

Group independent color decomposition of next-to-leading order matrix elements for e^+ e^- \to four partons

We present the next-to-leading order partonic cross sections involving an electroweak vector boson and four massless partons (quarks, gluons or long living gluinos) in a general gauge theory with a simple Lie Group. The vector boson couples to a massless lepton pair and a quark-antiquark pair. The cross sections are given in terms of group independent kinematical functions multiplying the eigenvalues of the Casimir operators of the Lie group. This kind of color decomposition is required for the calculation of O($α_s^3$) corrections to the group independent kinematical functions in the four-jet production cross sections in electron-positron annihilation. The knowledge of these corrections facilitates the simultaneous precision meaurement of the strong coupling and the color charge factors using the four-jet LEP or SLC data as well as the test whether these data favour or exclude the existence of a light gluino.

Four-jet production in $e^+e^-$ annihilation at next-to-leading order

We present a partonic Monte Carlo event generator that can be used for calculating the group independent kinematical functions of any infrared safe four-jet observable at NLO accuracy. As an example, we calculate the differential distribution of the $Π_1$ and $Π_4$ Fox-Wolfram moments. We find large K factors (K $>$ 2). The effect of the radiative correction is to increase the overall normalization, but not to reduce the renormalization scale dependence significantly.
