Look Ahead Before You Distill: Future Trajectory Validation of Teacher Guidance for Agentic On-Policy Distillation

On-policy distillation (OPD) provides teacher supervision on states visited by the student, reducing the distribution gap between training and inference. However, in multi-turn agentic tasks, student deviations may accumulate over time, gradually moving the trajectory away from states where teacher guidance remains effective. Our quantitative analysis further shows that high-disagreement states offer promising opportunities for teacher guidance, but determining whether such guidance is beneficial requires examining its effect on subsequent student trajectories. We propose FutureBridge-OPD (FTB), which executes a short teacher bridge at a high disagreement state and uses the resulting student continuation to assess whether the bridge increases the density of positive distillation signals relative to the teacher. On ALFWorld, WebShop, and ScienceWorld, under the main Qwen3-32B teacher to Qwen3-1.7B student setting, FTB outperforms vanilla OPD and TCOD by an average of 16.6 and 7.6 points, respectively, and remains effective across student scales and teacher settings. C-Koordinator: Interference-aware Management for Large-scale and Co-located Microservice Clusters

Microservices transform traditional monolithic applications into lightweight, loosely coupled application components and have been widely adopted in many enterprises. Cloud platform infrastructure providers enhance the resource utilization efficiency of microservices systems by co-locating different microservices. However, this approach also introduces resource competition and interference among microservices. Designing interference-aware strategies for large-scale, co-located microservice clusters is crucial for enhancing resource utilization and mitigating competition-induced interference. These challenges are further exacerbated by unreliable metrics, application diversity, and node heterogeneity. In this paper, we first analyze the characteristics of large-scale and co-located microservices clusters at Alibaba and further discuss why cycle per instruction (CPI) is adopted as a metric for interference measurement in large-scale production clusters, as well as how to achieve accurate prediction of CPI through multi-dimensional metrics. Based on CPI interference prediction and analysis, we also present the design of the C-Koordinator platform, an open-source solution utilized in Alibaba cluster, which incorporates co-location and interference mitigation strategies. The interference prediction models consistently achieve over 90.3% accuracy, enabling precise prediction and rapid mitigation of interference in operational environments. As a result, application latency is reduced and stabilized across all percentiles (P50, P90, P99) response time (RT), achieving improvements ranging from 16.7% to 36.1% under various system loads compared with state-of-the-art system. These results demonstrate the system's ability to maintain smooth application performance in co-located environments.

How to characterize imprecision in multi-view clustering?

It is still challenging to cluster multi-view data since existing methods can only assign an object to a specific (singleton) cluster when combining different view information. As a result, it fails to characterize imprecision of objects in overlapping regions of different clusters, thus leading to a high risk of errors. In this paper, we thereby want to answer the question: how to characterize imprecision in multi-view clustering? Correspondingly, we propose a multi-view low-rank evidential c-means based on entropy constraint (MvLRECM). The proposed MvLRECM can be considered as a multi-view version of evidential c-means based on the theory of belief functions. In MvLRECM, each object is allowed to belong to different clusters with various degrees of support (masses of belief) to characterize uncertainty when decision-making. Moreover, if an object is in the overlapping region of several singleton clusters, it can be assigned to a meta-cluster, defined as the union of these singleton clusters, to characterize the local imprecision in the result. In addition, entropy-weighting and low-rank constraints are employed to reduce imprecision and improve accuracy. Compared to state-of-the-art methods, the effectiveness of MvLRECM is demonstrated based on several toy and UCI real datasets.
