The physical observer I: Absolute and relative fields

Quantum Jet Theory (QJT) is a deformation of QFT where also the quantum dynamics of the observer is taken into account. This is achieved by introducing relative fields, labelled by locations measured by rods relative to the observer's position. In the Hamiltonian formalism, the observer's momentum is modified: p_i \to p_i - P_i, where P_i is the momentum carried by the field quanta. The free scalar field, free electromagnetism and gravity are treated as examples. Standard QFT results are recovered in the limit that the observer's mass M \to \infty and its charge e \to 0. This limit is well defined except for gravity, because e = M in that case (heavy mass equals inert mass). In a companion paper we describe how QJT also leads to new observer-dependent gauge and diff anomalies, which can not be formulated within QFT proper.

Synchrony parameter dependent transformation equations and some of their particular values - Kinematics

We show that alternative relativity theories that are essentially based on varied distant clock synchronization procedures can be recovered by using the standard Lorentz-Einstein transformations for the space-time coordinates of the same event. Through this approach we offer modest support for the Rizzi et al. stating that: "Once correctly and explicitly phrased, the principles of special relativity theory allow for a wide range of theories that differ from the standard Einstein's theory only for the difference in the chosen synchronization procedure, but are wholly equivalent to special relativity theory in predicting empirical facts." Our approach requires of the reader no more then a correct understanding of the physics behind the Lorentz-Einstein transformations equations which we use.

On the violation of the CHSH network model inequality

In the present paper it is demonstrated that the quantum correlation (2-dim unitary parameter vectors) can be arbitrarily close approximated with a local hidden variables model. Moreover, the CHSH inequality can be violated with the present model. This does not conclusively demonstrate that locality and causality can be restored to quantum mechanics. However, it does show that an experimental search for local hidden causality need not be fruitless beforehand.

Mass and Machian General Relativity

Mach's Principle is usually taken to mean that the mass of a particle as measured locally is determined in some way by the other matter in the universe. This is difficult to formalize in 4D,but is feasible in 5D if the scalar potential of non-compactified Kaluza-Klein theory is interpreted as an inertial field. We therefore review 5D space-time-matter theory, but take the local particle mass to be defined by the integral of a global scalar field. This approach smoothly embeds general relativity, and leads to several new effects which can be tested.

Geological flows

In this paper geology and planetology are considered using new conceptual basis of high-speed flow dynamics. Recent photo technics allow to see all details of a flow, 'cause the flow is static during very short time interval. On the other hand, maps and images of many planets are accessible. Identity of geological flows and high-speed gas dynamics is demonstrated. There is another time scale, and no more. All results, as far as the concept, are new and belong to the author. No formulae, pictures only.

Reformulation Instead of Renormalizations

In this article I show why the fundamental constants obtain perturbative corrections in higher orders, why the renormalizations work and how to reformulate the theory in order to avoid these technical and conceptual complications. I demonstrate that the perturbative mass and charge corrections are caused exclusively with the kinetic nature of the interaction Lagrangian. As soon as it is not purely quantum mechanical (or QFT) specific feature, the problem can be demonstrated on a classical two-body problem. The latter can be solved in different ways, one of them being correct and good for applying the perturbation theory (if necessary) and another one being tricky and awkward. The first one is physically and technically natural - it is a center-of-inertia-and-relative-variable formulation. The second one - mixed variable formulation - is unnecessarily complicated and leads to the mass and charge corrections even in the Newtonian mechanics of two bound bodies. The perturbation theory in QFT is factually formulated in the mixed variables - that is why it brings corrections to the fundamental constants. This understanding opens a way of correctly formulating the QFT equations and thus to simplify the QFT calculations technically and conceptually. For example, in scattering problems in QED it means accounting exactly the quantized electromagnetic field influence in the free in and out states of charged particles so no infrared and ultraviolet problems arise. In bound states it means obtaining the energy corrections (the Lamb shift, the anomalous magnetic moment) quite straightforwardly and without renormalizations.

Signature of the Planck scale

A fundamental spacetime scale in the universe leads to noncommutative spacetime and thence to a modified energy - momentum dispersion relation or equivalently to a modification of Lorentz symmetry as shown by the author and others. This latter consideration has also been used by some scholars though based on purely phenomenological models that have been suggested by the observation of Ultra High Energy Cosmic Rays. On the other hand a parallel development has been the proposal of a small but non zero photon mass by some scholars including the author, such a mass being within experimentally allowable limits. This too leads to a small violation of Lorentz symmetry observable in principle in very high energy gamma rays, as in fact is claimed. We show in this paper that the latter mechanism in fact follows from the former, thus unifying two apparently different approaches.

Incompleteness of the particle dynamics in microcosm and the skeleton conception of elementary particles as overcoming of this incompleteness

The skeleton conception of elementary particles is considered in the paper. Conventional particle dynamics is formulated in an unaccomplished form, which is adequate only in the continuous space-time geometry. The conventional differential equations of the particle motion cannot be written in the discrete space-time geometry. In the discrete space-time geometry the particle world line is replaced by the world chain. The world chain links has a finite length (not infinitesimal). The world chain appears to be stochastic. Statistical description of stochastic world chains leads to the Schrödinger equation, if the elementary length of the geometry is chosen in a proper way. The quantum principles are founded by existence of the discrete (and multivariant) space-time geometry and lose the role of prime physical principles. In the skeleton conception the particle is described by its skeleton (several rigidly connected space-time points). Skeleton conception of the elementary particles realizes a proper description of the particle state, which appears to be adequate in a discrete space-time geometry. The particle dynamics takes the form of a monistic conception, which is described completely in terms of the world function of the space-time geometry. The skeleton conception accomplishes the transition from nonrelativistic physics to the relativistic one and realizes the total geometrization of particle dynamics.

Morphogenesis and dynamics of quantum state

New construction of 4D dynamical space-time (DST) has been proposed in the framework of unification of relativity and quantum theory. Such unification is based solely on the fundamental notion of generalized coherent state (GCS) of N-level system and the geometry of unitary group SU(N) acting in state space $C^N$. Neither contradictable notion of quantum particle, nor space-time coordinates (that cannot be a priori attached to nothing) are used in this construction. Morphogenesis of the "field shell"-lump of GCS and its dynamics have been studied for N=2 in DST. The main technical problem is to find non-Abelian gauge field arising from conservation law of the local Hailtonian vector field. The last one may be expressed as parallel transport of local Hamiltonian in projective Hilbert space $CP(N-1)$. Co-movable local "Lorentz frame" being attached to GCS is used for qubit encoding result of comparison of the parallel transported local Hamiltonian in infinitesimally close points. This leads to quasi-linear relativistic field equations with soliton-like solutions for "field shell" in emerged DST. The terms "comparison" and "encoding" resemble human's procedure, but here they have objective content realized in invariant quantum dynamics. The dynamical motion of the lump in DST may be associated with "kinesis" time whereas the evolution parameter describing morphogenesis of GCS evolving in $CP(N-1)$, may be naturally identified with "metabole" time.

Vision as Adaptive Epistemology

In the last years the debate on complexity has been developing and developing in transdisciplinary way to meet the need of explanation for highly organized collective behaviors and sophisticated hierarchical arrangements in physical, biological, cognitive and social systems. Unfortunately, no clear definition has been reached, so complexity appears like an anti-reductionist paradigm in search of a theory. In our short survey we aim to suggest a clarification in relation to the notions of computational and intrinsic emergence, and to show how the latter is deeply connected to the new Logical Openness Theory, an original extension of Godel theorems to the model theory. The epistemological scenario we are going to make use of is that of the theory of vision, a particularly instructive one. Vision is an element of our primordial relationship with the world;consequently it comes as no surprise that carefully taking into consideration the processes of visual perception can lead us straight to some significant questions useful to delineate a natural history of knowledge. The common Greek etymological root of theory and vision sounds like a metaphor pointing out the analogy between the modalities of vision and those we use to see and build the world because them both can say us something about the central role of the observer and the semantic complexity of cognitive strategies.

Time and Reality of Worldtubes

In this essay, dedicated to the one hundredth anniversary of Hermann Minkowski's talk "Space and Time", I argue that physicists should face the issue of the reality of spacetime and worldtubes of physical objects for two reasons. First, this issue is not a philosophical question, as some appear to think, since the kinematical special relativistic effects would be impossible, as will be demonstrated, if the physical objects involved in these effects did not exist as four-dimensional worldtubes. Second, taking into account that worldtubes are real four-dimensional objects provides an unexpected insight into the origin of inertia, the nature of the force acting on a body supported in a gravitational field, and possibly even the nature of quantum objects.

Ignition of a deuterium micro-detonation with a gigavolt super marx generator

The Centurion-Halite experiment demonstrated the feasibility of igniting a deuterium-tritium micro-explosion with an energy of not more than a few megajoule, and the Mike test, the feasibility of a pure deuterium explosion with an energy of more than 10^6 megajoule. In both cases the ignition energy was supplied by a fission bomb explosive. While an energy of a few megajoule, to be released in the time required of less than 10^-9 sec, can be supplied by lasers and intense particle beams, this is not enough to ignite a pure deuterium explosion. Because the deuterium-tritium reaction depends on the availability of lithium, the non-fusion ignition of a pure deuterium fusion reaction would be highly desirable. It is shown that this goal can conceivably be reached with a "Super Marx Generator", where a large number of "ordinary" Marx generators charge (magnetically insulated) fast high voltage capacitors of a second stage Marx generator, called a "Super Marx Generator", ultimately reaching gigavolt potentials with an energy output of 100 megajoule. An intense 10^7 Ampere-GeV proton beam drawn from a "Super Marx Generator" can ignite a deuterium thermonuclear detonation wave in a compressed deuterium cylinder, where the strong magnetic field of the proton beam entraps the charged fusion reaction products inside the cylinder. In solving the stand-off problem, the stiffness of a GeV proton beam permits to place the deuterium target at a comparatively large distance from the wall of a cavity confining the deuterium micro-explosion.

Deuterium microbomb rocket propulsion

Large scale manned space flight within the solar system is still confronted with the solution of two problems: 1. A propulsion system to transport large payloads with short transit times between different planetary orbits. 2. A cost effective lifting of large payloads into earth orbit. For the solution of the first problem a deuterium fusion bomb propulsion system is proposed where a thermonuclear detonation wave is ignited in a small cylindrical assembly of deuterium with a gigavolt-multimegampere proton beam, drawn from the magnetically insulated spacecraft acting in the ultrahigh vacuum of space as a gigavolt capacitor. For the solution of the second problem, the ignition is done by argon ion lasers driven by high explosives, with the lasers destroyed in the fusion explosion and becoming part of the exhaust.

Reality - an emerging representation of the world

Some unique source -- the world, W -- must underlie all the information realized in the universe throughout time. Perceived reality, R, is a progressively emerging representation of W in the form of the geometrical universe. Time corresponds to the process of emergence. When first represented in R, information about W is expressed in a non-localized, quantum manner. As the emergence proceeds, most information becomes inaccessible (entropy), supporting the robust, redundant encoding of accessible records. The past is encoded in and inferred from present records; the anticipated future will preserve present information and reveal unpredictable new information about W. Emergence of the future demands non-unitary reduction of quantum states and increased Kolmogorov complexity of the quasi-classical records in terms of which the quantum states are known. Given the limited information content of records, the quasi-classical universe lacks fine details; whereas the future must be uncertain to admit new information.

Sociology of Modern Cosmology

Certain results of observational cosmology cast critical doubt on the foundations of standard cosmology but leave most cosmologists untroubled. Alternative cosmological models that differ from the Big Bang have been published and defended by heterodox scientists; however, most cosmologists do not heed these. This may be because standard theory is correct and all other ideas and criticisms are incorrect, but it is also to a great extent due to sociological phenomena such as the "snowball effect" or "groupthink". We might wonder whether cosmology, the study of the Universe as a whole, is a science like other branches of physics or just a dominant ideology.

Local Inertial Coordinate System and The Principle of Equivalence

In this paper, the local inertial coordinate system is calculated through coordinate transformations from laboratory coordinate system. We derived the same free falling equations as those in General Relativity. However, the definitions of second and higher order covariant derivatives are different. Our results are different from the classic view of the principle of equivalence, and suggest that all the laws of physics in gravitational field can be given by doing coordinate transformations from local inertial coordinate system to lab coordinate system.

Benchmark 3-Flavor Pattern and Small Universal Flavor-Electroweak Parameter

The electroweak theory contains too many empirical parameters. Most of them are related to the flavor part of particle physics. In this paper we discuss a relevant simple idea: the complicated system of actual dimensionless, small versus large, quantities in elementary particle flavor phenomenology is small deviated from an explicitly defined benchmark flavor pattern with no tuning parameters. One small empirical universal dimensionless parameter measures this deviation. Its possible physical connections are discussed. As inferences, quasi-degenerate neutrino type with mass scale m = 0.16-0.18 eV, neutrino and quark mixing matrices, large neutrino oscillation 3-flavor hierarchy and quark-neutrino complementarity are predicted.
