We present the eigenvalues of the Casimir invariants for the type I quantum superalgebras on any irreducible highest weight module.
Multiparameter quantum gl(N) is not a rigid structure. This paper defines an essential deformation as one that cannot be interpreted in terms of a similarity transformation, nor as a perturbation of the parameters. All the equivalence classes of first order essential deformations are found, as well as a class of exact deformations. This work provides quantization of all the classical Lie bialgebra structures (constant r-matrices) found by Belavin and Drinfeld for sl(n). A special case, that requires the Hecke parameter to be a cubic root of unity, stands out.
Cohomology and deformation theories are developed for Poisson algebras starting with the more general concept of a Leibniz pair, namely of an associative algebra $A$ together with a Lie algebra $L$ mapped into the derivations of $A$. A bicomplex (with both Hochschild and Chevalley-Eilenberg cohomologies) is essential.
A constrained KP hierarchy is discussed that was recently suggested by Aratyn et al. and by Bonora et al. This hierarchy is a restriction of the KP to a submanifold of operators which can be represented as a ratio of two purely differential operators of prescribed orders. Explicit formulas for action of vector fields on these two differential operators are written which gives a new description of the hierarchy and provides a new, more constructive, proof of compatibility of the constraint with the hierarchy. Also the Poisson structure of the constrained hierarchy is discussed.
Given a simple Lie algebra $\gggg$, we consider the orbits in $\gggg^*$ which are of R-matrix type, i.e., which possess a Poisson pencil generated by the Kirillov-Kostant-Souriau bracket and the so-called R-matrix bracket. We call an algebra quantizing the latter bracket a quantum orbit of R-matrix type. We describe some orbits of this type explicitly and we construct a quantization of the whole Poisson pencil on these orbits in a similar way. The notions of q-deformed Lie brackets, braided coadjoint vector fields and tangent vector fields are discussed as well.
In the present note we suggest an affinization of a theorem by Kostrikin et.al. about the decomposition of some complex simple Lie algebras ${\cal G}$ into the algebraic sum of pairwise orthogonal Cartan subalgebras. We point out that the untwisted affine Kac-Moody algebras of types $A_{p^m-1}$ ($p$ prime, $m\geq 1$), $B_r, \, C_{2^m}, D_r,\, G_2,\, E_7,\, E_8$ can be decomposed into the algebraic sum of pairwise or\-tho\-go\-nal Heisenberg subalgebras. The $A_{p^m-1}$ and $G_2$ cases are discussed in great detail. Some possible applications of such decompositions are also discussed.
In the previous author's paper the Macdonald norm conjecture (including the famous constant term conjecture) was proved. This paper contains the proof of the remaining two (the duality and evaluation conjectures). The evaluation theorem is in fact a $q,t$-generalization of the classic Weyl dimension formula. As to the duality theorem, it states that the generalized trigonometric-difference zonal Fourier transform is self-dual (at least formally). We define this transform in terms of double affine Hecke algebras related to elliptic braid groups. The duality appeared to be directly connected with the transposition of the periods of an elliptic curve.
W.~Magnus' representations of submonoids $ E \leq \mbox{End}(F) $ of the endomorphisms of a free group $ F $ of finite rank are generalised by identifying them with the first homology group of $ F $ with particular coefficient modules. By considering a suitable free resolution of the integers over the semidirect product of free groups, a class of representations of the braid group can be obtained on higher homology groups. The resolution shows that the holonomy representations of the braid group and of the Hecke algebra constructed topologically by R.~J.~Lawrence belong to this class.
We present contraction prescription of the quantum groups: from $SU_q(2)$ to $E_κ(2)$. Our strategy is different then one chosen in ref. [P. Zaugg, J. Phys. A {\bf 28} (1995) 2589]. We provide explicite prescription for contraction of $a, b, c$ and $d$ generators of $SL_q(2)$ and arrive at $^*$ Hopf algebra $E_κ(2)$.
The most common nonlinear deformations of the su(2) Lie algebra, introduced by Polychronakos and Ro\v cek, involve a single arbitrary function of J_0 and include the quantum algebra su_q(2) as a special case. In the present contribution, less common nonlinear deformations of su(2), introduced by Delbecq and Quesne and involving two deforming functions of J_0, are reviewed. Such algebras include Witten's quadratic deformation of su(2) as a special case. Contrary to the former deformations, for which the spectrum of J_0 is linear as for su(2), the latter give rise to exponential spectra, a property that has aroused much interest in connection with some physical problems. Another interesting algebra of this type, denoted by ${\cal A}^+_q(1)$, has two series of (N+1)-dimensional unitary irreducible representations, where N=0, 1, 2, .... To allow the coupling of any two such representations, a generalization of the standard Hopf axioms is proposed. The resulting algebraic structure, referred to as a two-colour quasitriangular Hopf algebra, is described.
The bicovariant differential calculi on quantum groups of Woronowicz have the drawback that their dimensions do not agree with that of the corresponding classical calculus. In this paper we discuss the first-order differential calculus which arises from a simple quantum Lie algebra. This calculus has the correct dimension and is shown to be bicovariant and complete. But it does not satisfy the Leibniz rule. For sl_n this approach leads to a differential calculus which satisfies a simple generalization of the Leibniz rule.
We present some results concerning the generalized homologies associated with nilpotent endomorphisms $d$ such that $d^N=0$ for some integer $N\geq 2$. We then introduce the notion of graded $q$-differential algebra and describe some examples. In particular we construct the $q$-analog of the simplicial differential on forms, the $q$-analog of the Hochschild differential and the $q$-analog of the universal differential envelope of an associative unital algebra.
We generalize the non-linear one-dimensional equation of a fluid layer for any depth and length as an infinite order differential equation for the steady waves. This equation can be written as a q-differential one, with its general solution written as a power series expansion with coefficients satisfying a nonlinear recurrence relation. In the limit of long and shallow water (shallow channels) we reobtain the well known Korteweg-de-Vries equation together with its single-soliton solution.
We describe two types of Poisson pencils generated by a linear bracket and a quadratic one arising from a classical R-matrix. A quantization scheme is discussed for each. The quantum algebras are represented as the enveloping algebras of ``generalized Lie algebras''.
An interpretation of Hirota bilinear relations for classical $τ$ functions is given in terms of intertwining operators. Noncommutative example of $U_q(sl_2)$ is presented.
We give an explicit description of the vector bundle of WZW conformal blocks on elliptic curves with marked points as subbundle of a vector bundle of Weyl group invariant vector valued theta functions on a Cartan subalgebra. We give a partly conjectural characterization of this subbundle in terms of certain vanishing conditions on affine hyperplanes. In some cases, explicit calculation are possible and confirm the conjecture. The Friedan--Shenker flat connection is calculated, and it is shown that horizontal sections are solutions of Bernard's generalization of the Knizhnik--Zamolodchikov equation.
The wave functions of the Calogero-Sutherland model are known to be expressible in terms of Jack polynomials. A formula which allows to obtain the wave functions of the excited states by acting with a string of creation operators on the wave function of the ground state is presented and derived. The creation operators that enter in this formula of Rodrigues-type for the Jack polynomials involve Dunkl operators.
We study analogues of the Yangian of the Lie algebra $gl_N$ for the other classical Lie algebras $so_N$ and $sp_N$. We call them twisted Yangians. They are coideal subalgebras in the Yangian $Y(gl_N)$ of $gl_N$ and admit homomorphisms onto the universal enveloping algebras $U(so_N)$ and $U(sp_N)$ respectively. In every twisted Yangian we construct a family of maximal commutative subalgebras parametrized by the regular semisimple elements of the corresponding classical Lie algebra. The images in $U(so_N)$ and $U(sp_N)$ of these subalgebras are also maximal commutative.
