Separation of variables for the Ruijsenaars system

We construct a separation of variables for the classical n-particle Ruijsenaars system (the relativistic analog of the elliptic Calogero-Moser system). The separated coordinates appear as the poles of the properly normalised eigenvector (Baker-Akhiezer function) of the corresponding Lax matrix. Two different normalisations of the BA functions are analysed. The canonicity of the separated variables is verified with the use of r-matrix technique. The explicit expressions for the generating function of the separating canonical transform are given in the simplest cases n=2 and n=3. Taking nonrelativistic limit we also construct a separation of variables for the elliptic Calogero-Moser system.

Integrable Structure of Conformal Field Theory II. Q-operator and DDV equation

This paper is a direct continuation of\ \BLZ\ where we begun the study of the integrable structures in Conformal Field Theory. We show here how to construct the operators ${\bf Q}_{\pm}(λ)$ which act in highest weight Virasoro module and commute for different values of the parameter $λ$. These operators appear to be the CFT analogs of the $Q$ - matrix of Baxter\ \Baxn, in particular they satisfy famous Baxter's ${\bf T}-{\bf Q}$ equation. We also show that under natural assumptions about analytic properties of the operators ${\bf Q}(λ)$ as the functions of $λ$ the Baxter's relation allows one to derive the nonlinear integral equations of Destri-de Vega (DDV)\ \dVega\ for the eigenvalues of the ${\bf Q}$-operators. We then use the DDV equation to obtain the asymptotic expansions of the ${\bf Q}$ - operators at large $λ$; it is remarkable that unlike the expansions of the ${\bf T}$ operators of \ \BLZ, the asymptotic series for ${\bf Q}(λ)$ contains the ``dual'' nonlocal Integrals of Motion along with the local ones. We also discuss an intriguing relation between the vacuum eigenvalues of the ${\bf Q}$ - operators and the stationary transport properties in boundary sine-Gordon model. On this basis we propose a number of new exact results about finite voltage charge transport through the point contact in quantum Hall system.

Bispectral algebras of commuting ordinary differential operators

We develop a systematic way for constructing bispectral algebras of commuting ordinary differential operators of any rank $N$. It combines and unifies the ideas of Duistermaat-Grünbaum and Wilson. Our construction is completely algorithmic and enables us to obtain all previously known classes or individual examples of bispectral operators. The method also provides new broad families of bispectral algebras which may help to penetrate deeper into the problem.

Elliptic algebra $A_{q,p}(\hat{sl_2})$ in the scaling limit

The scaling limit $A_{\hbar,η}(\hat{sl_2})$ of the elliptic algebra $A_{q,p}(\hat{sl_2})$ is investigated. The limiting algebra is defined in terms of a continuous family of generators being Fourier harmonics of Gauss coordinates of the $L$-operator. Ding-Frenkel isomorphism between $L$-operator's and current descriptions of the algebra $A_{\hbar,η}(\hat{sl_2})$ is established and is identified with the Riemann problem on a strip. The representations, coalgebraic structure and intertwining operators of the algebra are studied.

Vertex Operators - From a Toy Model to Lattice Algebras

Within the framework of the discrete Wess-Zumino-Novikov-Witten theory we analyze the structure of vertex operators on a lattice. In particular, the lattice analogues of operator product expansions and braid relations are discussed. As the main physical application, a rigorous construction for the discrete counterpart g_n of the group valued field g(x) is provided. We study several automorphisms of the lattice algebras including discretizations of the evolution in the WZNW model. Our analysis is based on the theory of modular Hopf algebras and its formulation in terms of universal elements. Algebras of vertex operators and their structure constants are obtained for the deformed universal enveloping algebras U_q(G). Throughout the whole paper, the abelian WZNW model is used as a simple example to illustrate the steps of our construction.

Quantum Double Actions on Operator Algebras and Orbifold Quantum Field Theories

Starting from a local quantum field theory with an unbroken compact symmetry group $G$ in 1+1-dimensional spacetime we construct disorder fields implementing gauge transformations on the fields (order variables) localized in a wedge region. Enlarging the local algebras by these disorder fields we obtain a nonlocal field theory, the fixpoint algebras of which under the appropriately extended action of the group $G$ are shown to satisfy Haag duality in every simple sector. The specifically 1+1 dimensional phenomenon of violation of Haag duality of fixpoint nets is thereby clarified. In the case of a finite group $G$ the extended theory is acted upon in a completely canonical way by the quantum double $D(G)$ and satisfies R-matrix commutation relations as well as a Verlinde algebra. Furthermore, our methods are suitable for a concise and transparent approach to bosonization. The main technical ingredient is a strengthened version of the split property which should hold in all reasonable massive theories. In the appendices (part of) the results are extended to arbitrary locally compact groups and our methods are adapted to chiral theories on the circle.

Rogers-Schur-Ramanujan type identities for the $M(p,p')$ minimal models of conformal field theory

We present and prove Rogers-Schur-Ramanujan (Bose/Fermi) type identities for the Virasoro characters of the minimal model $M(p,p').$ The proof uses the continued fraction decomposition of $p'/p$ introduced by Takahashi and Suzuki for the study of the Bethe's Ansatz equations of the XXZ model and gives a general method to construct polynomial generalizations of the fermionic form of the characters which satisfy the same recursion relations as the bosonic polynomials of Forrester and Baxter. We use this method to get fermionic representations of the characters $χ_{r,s}^{(p,p')}$ for many classes of $r$ and $s.$

Algebra of screening operators for the deformed $W_n$ algebra

We construct a family of intertwining operators (screening operators) between various Fock space modules over the deformed $W_n$ algebra. They are given as integrals involving a product of screening currents and elliptic theta functions. We derive a set of quadratic relations among the screening operators, and use them to construct a Felder-type complex in the case of the deformed $W_3$ algebra.

The sh Lie structure of Poisson brackets in field theory

A general construction of an sh Lie algebra from a homological resolution of a Lie algebra is given. It is applied to the space of local functionals equipped with a Poisson bracket, induced by a bracket for local functions along the lines suggested by Gel'fand, Dickey and Dorfman. In this way, higher order maps are constructed which combine to form an sh Lie algebra on the graded differential algebra of horizontal forms. The same construction applies for graded brackets in field theory such as the Batalin-Fradkin-Vilkovisky bracket of the Hamiltonian BRST theory or the Batalin-Vilkovisky antibracket.

A Trinomial Analogue of Bailey's Lemma and N=2 Superconformal Invariance

We propose and prove a trinomial version of the celebrated Bailey's lemma. As an application we obtain new fermionic representations for characters of some unitary as well as nonunitary models of N = 2 superconformal field theory (SCFT). We also establish interesting relations between N = 1 and N = 2 models of SCFT with central charges $(3/2)( 1 -{2(2 - 4ν)^2}/{2(4ν)})$ and $3(1 - 2/{4ν})$. A number of new mock theta function identities are derived.

Degenerate Solutions of General Relativity from Topological Field Theory

Working in the Palatini formalism, we describe a procedure for constructing degenerate solutions of general relativity on 4-manifold M from certain solutions of 2-dimensional BF theory on any framed surface Sigma embedded in M. In these solutions the cotetrad field e (and thus the metric) vanishes outside a neighborhood of Sigma, while inside this neighborhood the connection A and the field E = e ^ e satisfy the equations of 4-dimensional BF theory. Moreover, there is a correspondence between these solutions and certain solutions of 2-dimensional BF theory on Sigma. Our construction works in any signature and with any value of the cosmological constant. If M = R x S for some 3-manifold S, at fixed time our solutions typically describe `flux tubes of area': the 3-metric vanishes outside a collection of thickened links embedded in S, while inside these thickened links it is nondegenerate only in the two transverse directions. We comment on the quantization of the theory of solutions of this form and its relation to the loop representation of quantum gravity.

The hidden symmetry algebras of a class of quasi-exactly solvable multi dimensional operators

Let $P(N,V)$ denote the vector space of polynomials of maximal degree less than or equal to $N$ in $V$ independent variables. This space is preserved by the enveloping algebra generated by a set of linear, differential operators representing the Lie algebra $gl(V+1)$. We establish the counterpart of this property for the vector space $P(M,V) \oplus P(N,V)$ for any values of the integers $M,N,V$. We show that the operators preserving $P(M,V) \oplus P(N,V)$ generate an abstract superalgebra (non linear if $Δ=\mid M-N\mid\geq 2$). A family of algebras is also constructed, extending this particular algebra by $Δ-1$ arbitrary complex parameters.

Quantization of the Algebra of Chord Diagrams

In this paper we define an algebra structure on the vector space $L(Σ)$ generated by links in the manifold $Σ\times [0,1]$ where $Σ$ is an oriented surface. This algebra has a filtration and the associated graded algebra $L_{Gr}(Σ)$ is naturally a Poisson algebra. There is a Poisson algebra homomorphism from the algebra of chord diagrams $ch(Σ)$ on $Σ$ to $L_{Gr}(Σ)$. We show that multiplication in $L(Σ)$ provides a geometric way to define a deformation quantization of the algebra of chord diagrams, provided there is a universal Vassiliev invariant for links in $Σ\times [0,1]$. The quantization descends to a quantization of the moduli space of flat connections on $Σ$ and it is universal with respect to group homomorphisms. If $Σ$ is compact with free fundamental group we construct a universal Vassiliev invariant.

Higher Order Differential Calculus on $SL_q(N)$

Let $Γ$ be an $N^2$-dimensional bicovariant first order differential calculus on a Hopf algebra $SL_q(N)$. There are three possibilities to construct a differential Z-graded Hopf algebra $Γ^\wedge$ which contains $Γ$ as its first order part. Let $q$ be a transcendental complex number. For $N>2$ these three Z-graded Hopf algebras coincide. For Woronowicz' external algebra we calculate the dimensions of the spaces of left-invariant and bi-invariant $k$-forms. In this case each bi-invariant form is closed. In case of $4D_\pm$ calculi on $SL_q(2)$ the universal calculus is strictly larger than the other two calculi. In particular, the bi-invariant 1-form is not closed.

Reflection groups in hyperbolic spaces and the denominator formula for Lorentzian Kac--Moody Lie algebras

This is a continuation of our "Lecture on Kac--Moody Lie algebras of the arithmetic type" \cite{25}. We consider hyperbolic (i.e. signature $(n,1)$) integral symmetric bilinear form $S:M\times M \to {\Bbb Z}$ (i.e. hyperbolic lattice), reflection group $W\subset W(S)$, fundamental polyhedron $\Cal M$ of $W$ and an acceptable (corresponding to twisting coefficients) set $P({\Cal M})\subset M$ of vectors orthogonal to faces of $\Cal M$ (simple roots). One can construct the corresponding Lorentzian Kac--Moody Lie algebra ${\goth g}={\goth g}^{\prime\prime}(A(S,W,P({\Cal M})))$ which is graded by $M$. We show that $\goth g$ has good behavior of imaginary roots, its denominator formula is defined in a natural domain and has good automorphic properties if and only if $\goth g$ has so called {\it restricted arithmetic type}. We show that every finitely generated (i.e. $P({\Cal M})$ is finite) algebra ${\goth g}^{\prime\prime}(A(S,W_1,P({\Cal M}_1)))$ may be embedded to ${\goth g}^{\prime\prime}(A(S,W,P({\Cal M})))$ of the restricted arithmetic type. Thus, Lorentzian Kac--Moody Lie algebras of the restricted arithmetic type is a natural class to study. Lorentzian Kac--Moody Lie algebras of the restricted arithmetic type have the best automorphic properties for the denominator function if they have {\it a lattice Weyl vector $ρ$}. Lorentzian Kac--Moody Lie algebras of the restricted arithmetic type with generalized lattice Weyl vector $ρ$ are called {\it elliptic}

The Igusa modular forms and ``the simplest'' Lorentzian Kac--Moody algebras

We find automorphic corrections for the Lorentzian Kac--Moody algebras with the simplest generalized Cartan matrices of rank 3: A_{1,0} = 2 0 -1 0 2 -2 -1 -2 2 and A_{1,I} = 2 -2 -1 -2 2 -1 -1 -1 2 For A_{1,0} this correction is given by the Igusa Sp_4(Z)-modular form χ_{35} of weight 35, and for A_{1,I} by a Siege modular form of weight 30 with respect to a 2-congruence subgroup. We find infinite product or sum expansions for these forms. Our method of construction of χ_{35} leads to the direct construction of Siegel modular forms by infinite product expansions, whose divisors are the Humbert surfaces with fixed discriminants. Existence of these forms was proved by van der Geer in 1982 using some geometrical consideration. We announce a list of all hyperbolic symmetric generalized Cartan matrices A of rank 3 such that A has elliptic or parabolic type, A has a lattice Weyl vector, and A contains the affine submatrix \tilde{A}_1.
