Solutions of the reflection equation for face and vertex models associated with $A_n^{(1)},B_n^{(1)},C_n^{(1)},D_n^{(1)}$ and $A_n^{(2)}$

We present new diagonal solutions of the reflection equation for elliptic solutions of the star-triangle relation. The models considered are related to the affine Lie algebras $A_n^{(1)},B_n^{(1)},C_n^{(1)},D_n^{(1)}$ and $A_n^{(2)}$. We recover all known diagonal solutions associated with these algebras and find how these solutions are related in the elliptic regime. Furthermore, new solutions of the reflection equation follow for the associated vertex models in the trigonometric limit.

Supersymmetry from a braided point of view

We show that one-dimensional superspace is isomorphic to a non-trivial but consistent limit as $q\to-1$ of the braided line. Supersymmetry is identified as translational invariance along this line. The supertranslation generator and covariant derivative are obtained in the limit in question as the left and right derivatives of the calculus on the braided line.

Quantum Deformations of Conformal Algebras Introducing Fundamental Mass Parameters

We consider new class of classical r-matrices for D=3 and D=4 conformal Lie algebras. These r-matrices do satisfy the classical Yang-Baxter equation and as two-tensors belong to the tensor product of Borel subalgebra. In such a way we generalize the lowest order of known nonstandard quantum deformation of sl(2) to the Lie algebras sp(4) = so(5) and sl(4) = so(6). As an exercise we interpret nonstandard deformation of sl(2) as describing quantum D=1 conformal algebra with fundamental mass parameter. Further we describe the D=3 and D=4 conformal bialgebras with deformation parameters equal to the inverse of fundamental masses. It appears that for D=4 the deformation of the Poincare algebra sector coincides with "null plane" quantum Poincare algebra.

Connection Between q-Deformed Anharmonic Oscillators and Quasi-Exactly Soluble Potentials

It is proved that quasi-exactly soluble potentials (QESPs) corresponding to an oscillator with harmonic, quartic and sextic terms, for which the $n+1$ lowest levels of a given parity can be determined exactly, may be approximated by WKB equivalent potentials corresponding to deformed anharmonic oscillators of SU$_q$(1,1) symmetry, which have been used for the description of vibrational spectra of diatomic molecules. This connection allows for the immediate approximate determination of all levels of the QESPs.

Interpolation between para-Bose and para-Fermi statistics

Using deformed Green's oscillators and Green's Ansatz,we construct a multiparameter interpolation between para-Bose and para-Fermi statistics of a given order. When the interpolating parameters $q_{ij}$ satisfy $|q_{ij}|<1 (|q_{ij}|= 1)$, the interpolation statistics is "infinite quon"-like (anyon-like).The proposed interpolation does not contain states of negative norms.

Local realizations of $q$-Oscillators in Quantum Mechanics

Representations of the quantum q-oscillator algebra are studied with particular attention to local Hamiltonian representations of the Schroedinger type. In contrast to the standard harmonic oscillators such systems exhibit a continuous spectrum. The general scheme of realization of the q-oscillator algebra on the space of wave functions for a one-dimensional Schroedinger Hamiltonian shows the existence of non-Fock irreducible representations associated to the continuous part of the spectrum and directly related to the deformation. An algorithm for the mapping of energy levels is described.

Algebraic Bethe Ansatz for XYZ Gaudin model

The eigenvectors of the Hamiltionians of the XYZ Gaudin model are constructed by means of the algebraic Bethe Ansatz. The construction is based on the quasi-classical limit of the corresponding results for the inhomogeneous higher spin eight vertex model.

Connections on central bimodules

We define and study the theory of derivation-based connections on a recently introduced class of bimodules over an algebra which reduces to the category of modules whenever the algebra is commutative. This theory contains, in particular, a noncommutative generalization of linear connections. We also discuss the different noncommutative versions of differential forms based on derivations. Then we investigate reality conditions and a noncommutative generalization of pseudo-riemannian structures.

Towards a loop representation for quantum canonical supergravity

We study several aspects of the canonical quantization of supergravity in terms of the Asthekar variables. We cast the theory in terms of a $GSU(2)$ connection and we introduce a loop representation. The solution space is similar to the loop representation of ordinary gravity, the main difference being the form of the Mandelstam identities. Physical states are in general given by knot invariants that are compatible with the $GSU(2)$ Mandelstam identities. There is an explicit solution to all the quantum constraint equations connected with the Chern-Simons form, which coincides exactly with the Dubrovnik version of the Kauffman Polynomial. This provides for the first time the possibility of finding explicit analytic expressions for the coefficients of that knot polynomial.

Algebras, BPS States, and Strings

We clarify the role played by BPS states in the calculation of threshold corrections of D=4, N=2 heterotic string compactifications. We evaluate these corrections for some classes of compactifications and show that they are sums of logarithmic functions over the positive roots of generalized Kac-Moody algebras. Moreover, a certain limit of the formulae suggests a reformulation of heterotic string in terms of a gauge theory based on hyperbolic algebras such as $E_{10}$. We define a generalized Kac-Moody Lie superalgebra associated to the BPS states. Finally we discuss the relation of our results with string duality.

The Master Field for QCD and $q$-Deformed Quantum Field Theory

The master fields for the large $N$ limit of matrix models and gauge theory are constructed. The master fields satisfy to standard equations of relativistic field theory but fields are quantized according to a new rule. To define the master field we use the Yang-Feldman equation with a free field quantized in the Boltzmannian Fock space. The master field for gauge theory does not take values in a finite-dimensional Lie algebra however there is a non-Abelian gauge symmetry. For the construction of the master field it is essential to work in Minkowski space-time and to use the Wightman correlation functions. The BRST quantization of the master field for gauge theory and a loop equation are considered.

Multinomials and Polynomial Bosonic Forms for the Branching Functions of the $\widehat{su}(2)_{M}\times \widehat{su}(2)_{N}/\widehat{su}(2)_{M+N}$ Conformal Coset Models

We give explicit expressions for the q-multinomial generalizations of the q-binomials and Andrews' and Baxter's q-trinomials. We show that the configuration sums for the generalized RSOS models in regime III studied by Date et al. can be expressed in terms of these multinomials. This generalizes the work of ABF and AB where configuration sums of statistical mechanical models have been expressed in terms of binomial and trinomial coefficients. These RSOS configuration sums yield the branching functions for the $\widehat{su}(2)_{M}\times \widehat{su}(2)_{N}/\widehat{su}(2)_{M+N}$ coset models. The representation in terms of multinomials gives Rocha-Caridi like formulas whereas the representation of Date et al. gives a double sum representation for the branching functions.

Multi-point Local Height Probabilities in the Integrable RSOS Model

By using the bosonization technique, we derive an integral representation for multi-point Local Hight Probabilities for the Andrews-Baxter-Forrester model in the regime III. We argue that the dynamical symmetry of the model is provided by the deformed Virasoro algebra.

Link invariants from $N$-state vertex models: an alternative construction independent of statistical models

We reproduce the hierarchy of link invariants associated to the series of $N$-state vertex models with a method different from the original construction due to Akutsu, Deguchi and Wadati. The alternative method substitutes the `crossing symmetry' property exhibited by the Boltzmann weights of the vertex models by a similar property which, for the purpose of constructing link invariants, encodes the same information but requires only the limit of the Boltzmann weights when the spectral parameter is sent to infinity.

Instantons and affine Lie algebras

Various constructions of the affine Lie algebra action on the homology group of moduli spaces of instantons on 4-manifolds are discussed. The analogy between the local-global principle and the role of mass is also explained. The detailed proofs are given in separated papers \cite{Na-algebra,Na-Hilbert}.

Quantum groups and q-lattices in phase space

Quantum groups lead to an algebraic structure that can be realized on quantum spaces. These are noncommutative spaces that inherit a well defined mathematical structure from the quantum group symmetry. In turn such quantum spaces can be interpreted as noncommutative configuration spaces for physical systems which carry a symmetry like structure. These configuration spaces will be generalized to noncommutative phase space. The definition of the noncommutative phase space will be based on a differential calculus on the configuration space which is compatible with the symmetry. In addition a conjugation operation will be defined which will allow us to define the phase space variables in terms of algebraically selfadjoint operators. An interesting property of the phase space observables will be that they will have a discrete spectrum. These noncommutative phase space puts physics on a lattice structure.

Quantization of the Algebra of Chord Diagrams

In this paper we define an algebra structure on the vector space $L(Σ)$ generated by links in the manifold $Σ\times [0,1]$ where $Σ$ is an oriented surface. This algebra has a filtration and the associated graded algebra $L_{Gr}(Σ)$ is naturally a Poisson algebra. There is a Poisson algebra homomorphism from the algebra of chord diagrams $ch(Σ)$ on $Σ$ to $L_{Gr}(Σ)$. We show that multiplication in $L(Σ)$ provides a geometric way to define a deformation quantization of the algebra of chord diagrams, provided there is a universal Vassiliev invariant for links in $Σ\times [0,1]$. The quantization descends to a quantization of the moduli space of flat connections on $Σ$ and it is universal with respect to group homomorphisms. If $Σ$ is compact with free fundamental group we construct a universal Vassiliev invariant.
