The electromagnetic "memory" of a dc-conducting resistor: a relativity argument and the electrical circuits

A circuit-field problem is considered. A resistor conducting a constant current is argued to be associated with electromagnetic energy accumulated in the surrounded space, though contrary to the case of an inductor or a capacitor, this energy is always associated with both magnetic and electrical fields. The circuit-theory point of view saying that a resistor has no electromagnetic memory is accepted, but the necessarily involved (in view of the field argument) capacitance and inductiveness are argued then also not be associated with any memory. The mutually completing circuit and physical arguments are presented as a dialog between a physicist and an electrical engineer. How can you call "parasitic" the elements that represent the fields due to which your resistor at all receives the energy?! -- asks the physicist finally.

Mpemba effect, Newton cooling law and heat transfer equation

In this work we suggest a simple theoretical solution of the Mpemba effect in full agreement with known experimental data. This solution follows simply as an especial approximation (linearization) of the usual heat (transfer) equation, precisely linearization of the second derivation of the space part of the temperature function (as it is well-known Newton cooling law can be considered as the effective approximation of the heat (transfer) equation for constant space part of the temperature function).

Universal Spectrum for Atmospheric Suspended Particulates: Comparison with Observations

Atmospheric flows exhibit self-similar fractal space-time fluctuations on all space-time scales in association with inverse power law distribution for power spectra of meteorological parameters such as wind, temperature, etc., and thus implies long-range correlations, identified as self-organized criticality generic to dynamical systems in nature. A general systems theory based on classical statistical physical concepts developed by the author visualizes the fractal fluctuations to result from the coexistence of eddy fluctuations in an eddy continuum, the larger scale eddies being the integrated mean of enclosed smaller scale eddies. The model satisfies the maximum entropy principle and predicts that the probability distributions of component eddy amplitudes and the corresponding variances (power spectra) are quantified by the same universal inverse power law distribution which is a function of the golden mean. Atmospheric particulates are held in suspension by the vertical velocity distribution (spectrum). The atmospheric particulate size spectrum is derived in terms of the model predicted universal inverse power law characterizing atmospheric eddy spectrum. Model predicted spectrum is in agreement with the following four experimentally determined data sets: (i) CIRPAS mission TARFOX_WALLOPS_SMPS aerosol size distributions (ii) CIRPAS mission ARM-IOP (Ponca City, OK) aerosol size distributions (iii) SAFARI 2000 CV-580 (CARG Aerosol and Cloud Data) cloud drop size distributions and (iv) TWP-ICE (Darwin, Australia) rain drop size distributions.

The basis of quantum mechanics' compatibility with relativity--whose impairment gives rise to the Klein-Gordon and Dirac equations

Solitary-particle quantum mechanics' inherent compatibility with special relativity is implicit in Schroedinger's postulated wave-function rule for the operator quantization of the particle's canonical three-momentum, taken together with his famed time-dependent wave-function equation that analogously treats the operator quantization of its Hamiltonian. The resulting formally four-vector equation system assures proper relativistic covariance for any solitary-particle Hamiltonian operator which, together with its canonical three-momentum operator, is a Lorentz-covariant four-vector operator. This, of course, is always the case for the quantization of the Hamiltonian of a properly relativistic classical theory, so the strong correspondence principle definitely remains valid in the relativistic domain. Klein-Gordon theory impairs this four-vector equation by iterating and contracting it, thereby injecting extraneous negative-energy solutions that are not orthogonal to their positive-energy counterparts of the same momentum, thus destroying the basis of the quantum probability interpretation. Klein-Gordon theory, which thus depends on the square of the Hamiltonian operator, is as well thereby cut adrift from Heisenberg's equations of motion. Dirac theory confuses the space-time symmetry of the four-vector equation system with such symmetry for its time component alone, which it fatuously imposes, thereby breaching the strong correspondence principle for the free particle and imposing the starkly unphysical momentum-independence of velocity. Physically sensible alternatives, with external electromagnetic fields, to the Klein-Gordon and Dirac equations are derived, and the simple, elegant symmetry-based approach to antiparticles is pointed out.

Some critical remarks on Landau's (macroscopic) phase transitions theory

This paper explain the existence of a particular formal model (drew from Theoretical Astrophysics) whose thermodynamical phenomenology shows a possible second order phase transition (according to Landau's Thermodynamical Theory) that seems does not verify the (Birman-Goldrich-Jaric) "chain subduction criterion" and the (Ascher's) "maximality criterion" of Landau's Phenomenological Theory. Therefore, it follows that Landau's Phenomenological Theory is more restrictive than the Landau's Thermodynamical Theory.

Positive Energy Wormholes Made from Normal Charges

In this article we look at the class of positive-energy density wormholes introduced by Eiroa and Simeone, and ask the question "How close can we come to building this wormhole with normal, electrically charged matter?" Using a series expansion, we determine that the stress-energy tensor of the metric can be made arbitrarily close to that of a charged line-source by taking the exponent of the radial coordinate to be sufficiently small. We also find terms in the expansion which resemble QED radiative corrections to the Coulomb field of an electron.

Quantum Relativity

Quantum Relativity is supposed to be a new theory, which locally is a deformation of Special Relativity, and globally it is a background independent theory including the main ideas of General Relativity, with hindsight from Quantum Theory. The qubit viewed as a Hopf monopole bundle is considered as a unifying gauge "group". Breaking its chiral symmetry is conjectured to yield gravity as a deformation of electromagnetism. It is already a quantum theory in the context of Quantum Information Dynamics as a discrete, background independent theory, unifying classical and quantum physics. Based on the above, Quantum Gravity is sketched as an open project.

GLLH EM Invisible Cloak With Novel Front Branching And Without Exceeding Light Speed Violation

In this paper, for the first time in the world, we propose a new electromagnetic (EM) cloak without superluminal propagation and without time delay. Using Global and Local (GL) electromagnetic non-scattering modeling and inversion with a distinctive class of materials a_{αβ}\log ^α(b_{αβ}/h) h^β(GLLH Cloak), the named GLLH invisible cloak is developed in arXiv:1005.3999V1 in 2010. After 16 years, this paper is version 3 of arXiv:1005.3999V1 . The refractive index of the GLLH cloak material is greater than or equal to one. Spherical harmonic analysis and the GL modeling and inversion method are used to simulate the electromagnetic wave propagation through the GLLH cloak without superluminal effects and without time delay. The novel EM wave propagation and front branching in the GLLH cloak obtained by GL EM modeling are presented. Find an invisible cloak is the non scattering problem. Using Global and Local (GL) electromagnetic non-scattering modeling and inversion with a distinctive class of materials is one method in our paper in arXiv:1005.3999V1 in 2010. Another method is some 0 to R1 radial coordinate transformations with superluminal and infinite phase velocity. From the GLLH invisible cloak, we discovered positive space and negative space and invisible science. Using a new negative infinity to 0 quasi topological transformation, we discovered new isotropic electromagnetic invisible GLHUA sphere; anisotropic electromagnetic invisible GLHUA cloak. In the GLLH cloak, the wave front is curved as a crescent like and without superluminal and time delay. Open question: Can we construct a 3D Kakeya set where line segments of length represent the vector field of EM wave ray-tracing propagation through GLLH, GLHUA cloaks, and the GLHUA sphere? All copyright and patent of the GLLH EM cloaks and GL modeling and inversion methods are reserved by authors.

Walking Wave as a Model of Particle

The concept of walking wave is introduced from classical relativistic positions. One- and three-dimensional walking waves considered with their wave equations and dispersion equations. It is shown that wave characteristics (de Broglie's and Compton's wavelengths) and corpuscular characteristics (energy-momentum vector and the rest mass) of particle may be expressed through parameters of walking wave. By that the new view on a number concepts of physic related with wave-particle duality is suggested.

Physics geometrization in microcosm: discrete space-time and relativity theory

The presented paper is a review of papers on the microcosm physics geometrization in the last twenty years. These papers develop a new direction of the microcosm physics. It is so-called geometric paradigm, which is alternative to the quantum paradigm, which is conventionally used now. The hypothesis on discreteness of the space-time geometry appears to be more fundamental, than the hypothesis on quantum nature of microcosm. Discrete space-time geometry admits one to describe quantum effects as pure geometric effects. Mathematical technique of the microcosm physics geometrization (geometric paradigm) is based on the physical geometry, which is described completely by the world function. Equations, describing motion of particles in the microcosm, are algebraic (not differential) equations. They are written in a coordinateless form in terms of world function. The geometric paradigm appeared as a result of overcoming of inconsistency of the conventional elementary particle theory. In the suggested skeleton conception the state of an elementary particle is described by its skeleton (several space-time points). The skeleton contains all information on the particle properties (mass, charge, spin, etc.). The skeleton conception is a monistic construction, where elementary particle motion is described in terms of skeleton and world function and only in these terms. The skeleton conception can be constructed only on the basis of the physical geometry. Unfortunately, most mathematicians do not accept the physical geometries, because these geometries are nonaxiomatizable. It is a repetition of the case, when mathematicians did not accept the non-Euclidean geometries of Lobachevsky-Bolyai. As a result this review is a review of papers of one author.

The New Wedge-Shaped Hubble Diagram of 398 SCP Supernovae According to the Expansion Center Model

Following the successful dipole test on 53 SCP SNe Ia presented at SAIt2004 in Milan, this 9th contribution to the ECM series beginning in 1999 in Naples (43th SAIt meeting: "Revolutions in Astronomy") deals with the construction of the new wedge-shaped Hubble diagram obtained with 398 supernovae of the SCP Union Compilation (Kowalski et al. 2008) by applying a calculated correlation between SNe Ia absolute blue magnitude MB and central redshift z0, according to the expansion center model. The ECM distance D of the Hubble diagram (cz versus D) is computed as the ratio between the luminosity distance DL and 1 + z. Mathematically D results to be a power series of the light-space r run inside the expanding cosmic medium or Hubble flow; thus its expression is independent of the corresponding z. In addition one can have D = D(z, h) from the ECM Hubble law by using the h convention with an anisotropic HX. It is proposed to the meeting that the wedge-shape of this new Hubble diagram be confirmed independently as mainly due to the ECM dipole anisotropy of the Hubble ratio cz/D.

Remarkable Relation from Minimal Imaginary Action Model

If it is to be true that the history of the universe should be adjusted to minimize the "imaginary part of action" [arXiv:0802.2991, arXiv:0711.3080, arXiv:0707.1919, arXiv:hep-ph/0612032, arXiv:hep-th/0509205, arXiv:hep-th/0701018], it would be "easiest" to have this "imaginary part of the action" to be rather independent of whether the neutrons are converted to electrons and protons (and neutrinos), and therefore of whether the contribution to the imaginary part of the Lagrangian were conserved under this conversion. Under the further assumption - which is reasonable - that the by far dominant term in the imaginary part of the Lagrangian density is the one corresponding to the Higgs mass square term in the Standard Model Lagrangian density mH**2 |phi(x)|**2 we derive a relation: (down mass square minus up mass square) = constituent quark mass times electron mass/"ln", where "ln" is defined by <1/gamma >= "ln"/ < gamma > and is of the order of 1 to 4, where gamma stands for relativity gamma of a valence quark inside a nucleon. This relation is very well satisfied with the phenomeno- logically estimated current algebra quark masses mu, md, and the constituent mass mconstituent for the light quarks, taken say to be one third of the nucleon mass. Our model has been criticised on the ground that it should have prevented cosmic rays with energies capable of producing Higgs particles, when hitting say the atmosphere. Indeed there is, however, a well known "knee" in the density curve as function of energy at an order of magnitude for the cosmic ray particle energy close to the effective threshold for Higgs production. A parameter giving the order of magnitude of number of Higgsses to be produced in order to get a significant effect is estimated to be about 300000.

Test for consistence of a flyby anomaly simulation with the observed Doppler residuals for the Messenger flybys of Mercury

In 2007, the observed Earth flyby anomalies have been successfully simulated using an empirical formula (H. J. Busack, 2007). This simulation has led to the prediction of anomaly values, to be expected for the Rosetta flybys of Mars in 2007, and following twice of Earth in 2007 and 2009. While the data for the Mars flyby are yet under evaluation, the predictions of the formula for the last two Earth flybys of Rosetta are fully confirmed now. This is remarkable, since an alternatively proposed formula (Anderson et al., 2007) failed to predict the correct values for the recent flybys. For the Mercury flybys of the Messenger spacecraft, this alternative formula predicts a null result. In the meantime, Doppler residuals of these flybys on 14.01.2008 and 06.10.2008 are availabel. On both flybys, significant residuals were observed, using gravity data derived by Mariner 10 on Mercury (D. E. Smith et al., 2009). According to the authors, these residuals cannot be eliminated totally by adjustment of the second degree gravity coefficients and by assumption of irregular mass concentrations of acceptable value on Mercury. In this investigation, I adapt the output of the simulation program to compare with the measured Doppler residuals of the Mercury flybys without changing the formerly derived parameters for the Earth flybys. The simulation with these parameters leads to Doppler residuals of the Mercury flybys compatible with the measured curves. Additionally, the expected flyby anomalies are calculated. Since the gravity field of Mercury is not explored yet with sufficient accuracy, this result cannot be falsified or confirmed until the evaluation of the coming Mercury orbits of Messenger will be finished. If the proposed empirical formula would be confirmed then again, this would be a strong indication of an underlying physical reality.

Nonlinear Dynamics and Chaos: Applications in Atmospheric Sciences

Atmospheric flows, an example of turbulent fluid flows, exhibit fractal fluctuations of all space-time scales ranging from turbulence scale of mm -sec to climate scales of thousands of kilometers - years and may be visualized as a nested continuum of weather cycles or periodicities, the smaller cycles existing as intrinsic fine structure of the larger cycles. The power spectra of fractal fluctuations exhibit inverse power law form signifying long - range correlations identified as self - organized criticality and are ubiquitous to dynamical systems in nature and is manifested as sensitive dependence on initial condition or 'deterministic chaos' in finite precision computer realizations of nonlinear mathematical models of real world dynamical systems such as atmospheric flows. Though the selfsimilar nature of atmospheric flows have been widely documented and discussed during the last three to four decades, the exact physical mechanism is not yet identified. There now exists an urgent need to develop and incorporate basic physical concepts of nonlinear dynamics and chaos into classical meteorological theory for more realistic simulation and prediction of weather and climate. A review of nonlinear dynamics and chaos in meteorology and atmospheric physics is summarized in this paper.

How to explain the Michelson-Morley experiment in ordinary 3-dimensional space

The Michelson-Morley experiment led Einstein to introduce the concept of spacetime and to propose that all of the laws of physics are Lorentz invariant. However, so far only the Lorentz invariance of electromagnetism has been convincingly confirmed. I would like to propose a new way to explain the Michelson-Morley experiment that retains the Lorentz invariance of Maxwell's equations without requiring the other laws of physics to be Lorentz invariant. In this new theory Lorentz invariance is not fundamental, but instead is simply a consequence of the fact that Maxwell's equations are incomplete because they lack a way to define local inertial reference frames. This new theory explicitly defines 3-dimensional local inertial reference frames in terms of the gravitational potential $\VG{}$ along with a momentum potential $\VP{}$ and a force potential $\VF{}$. This new theory decouples space and time, and explains the Michelson-Morley experiment in ordinary 3-dimensional space.

Does one need to consider superconductivity as Bose-Einstein condensation?

It is shown that the temperature dependence of the value of energy gap in superconductors can be classified as the order-disorder transition with its characteristic features. The obtained relationship between the critical temperature and the critical magnetic field of the condensate of electrically charged particles is in accordance with measurement data of superconductors.

Ten questions and answers about superconductivity

This work answers the basic questions of superconductivity in a question-and-answer format. We extend a basic hypothesis to various superconductors. This hypothesis is that superconductivity requires that the pairing gap locates around the Fermi level. On the basis of this hypothesis our calculations give the so-called three factor theory with which some key problems of the high temperature superconductivity are explained.
