Universal $R$-matrix for non-standard quantum $sl(2,\R)$

A universal $R$-matrix for the non-standard (Jordanian) quantum deformation of $sl(2,\R)$ is presented. A family of solutions of the quantum Yang--Baxter equation is obtained from some finite dimensional representations of this Lie bialgebra quantization of $sl(2,\R)$.

Graded Contractions of Affine Kac-Moody Algebras

The method of graded contractions, based on the preservation of the automorphisms of finite order, is applied to the affine Kac-Moody algebras and their representations, to yield a new class of infinite dimensional Lie algebras and representations. After the introduction of the horizontal and vertical gradings, and the algorithm to find the horizontal toroidal gradings, I discuss some general properties of the graded contractions, and compare them with the Inönü-Wigner contractions. The example of $\hat A_2$ is discussed in detail.

Classical Poisson structures and r-matrices from constrained flows

We construct the classical Poisson structure and $r$-matrix for some finite dimensional integrable Hamiltonian systems obtained by constraining the flows of soliton equations in a certain way. This approach allows one to produce new kinds of classical, dynamical Yang-Baxter structures. To illustrate the method we present the $r$-matrices associated with the constrained flows of the Kaup-Newell, KdV, AKNS, WKI and TG hierarchies, all generated by a 2-dimensional eigenvalue problem. Some of the obtained $r$-matrices depend only on the spectral parameters, but others depend also on the dynamical variables. For consistency they have to obey a classical Yang-Baxter-type equation, possibly with dynamical extra terms.

Quantum Lie algebras associated to $U_q(gl_n)$ and $U_q(sl_n)$

Quantum Lie algebras $\qlie{g}$ are non-associative algebras which are embedded into the quantized enveloping algebras $U_q(g)$ of Drinfeld and Jimbo in the same way as ordinary Lie algebras are embedded into their enveloping algebras. The quantum Lie product on $\qlie{g}$ is induced by the quantum adjoint action of $U_q(g)$. We construct the quantum Lie algebras associated to $U_q(gl_n)$ and $U_q(sl_n)$. We determine the structure constants and the quantum root systems, which are now functions of the quantum parameter $q$. They exhibit an interesting duality symmetry under $q\leftrightarrow 1/q$.

Braid group approach to the derivation of universal Ř matrices

A new method for deriving universal Ř matrices from braid group representation is discussed. In this case, universal Ř operators can be defined and expressed in terms of products of braid group generators. The advantage of this method is that matrix elements of Ř are rank independent, and leaves multiplicity problem concerning coproducts of the corresponding quantum groups untouched. As examples, Ř matrix elements of $[1]\times [1]$, $[2]\times [2]$, $[1^{2}]\times [1^{2}]$, and $[21]\times [21]$ with multiplicity two for $A_{n}$, and $[1]\times [1]$ for $B_{n}$, $C_{n}$, and $D_{n}$ type quantum groups, which are related to Hecke algebra and Birman-Wenzl algebra, respectively, are derived by using this method.

On a Deformation of $sl(2)$ with Paragrassmannian Variables

We propose a new structure ${\cal U}^{r}_{\displaystyle{q}}(sl(2)) $. This is realized by multiplying $δ$ ($q=e^δ$, $δ\in \CC$) by $θ$, where $θ$ is a real nilpotent -paragrassmannian- variable of order $r$ ($θ^{r+1}=0$) that we call the order of deformation, the limit $r\rightarrow \infty$ giving back the standard ${\cal U}_{\displaystyle {q}}(sl(2))$. In particular we show that, for $r=1$, there exists a new ${\cal R}$-matrix associated with $sl(2)$. We also proof that the restriction of the values of the parameters of deformation give nonlinear algebras as particular cases.

Bethe Ansatz for Higher Spin XYZ Models --- Low-lying Excitations ---

A higher spin generalization of the XYZ spin chain defined by the fusion procedure is considered. Energy and momentum of the ground state and low-lying excited states of the model are computed by means of an isomorphism between a space of theta functions on which the Sklyanin algebra acts and a space obtained by the fusion procedure.

Common Algebraic Structure for the Calogero-Sutherland Models

We investigate common algebraic structure for the rational and trigonometric Calogero-Sutherland models by using the exchange-operator formalism. We show that the set of the Jack polynomials whose arguments are Dunkl-type operators provides an orthogonal basis for the rational case.

On the Two q-Analogue Logarithmic Functions

There is a simple, multi-sheet Riemann surface associated with e_q(z)'s inverse function ln_q(w) for 0< q < 1. A principal sheet for ln_q(w) can be defined. However, the topology of the Riemann surface for ln_q(w) changes each time "q" increases above the collision point of a pair of the turning points of e_q(x). There is also a power series representation for ln_q(1+w). An infinite-product representation for e_q(z) is used to obtain the ordinary natural logarithm ln{e_q(z)} and the values of sum rules for the zeros "z_i" of e_q(z). For |z|<|z_1|, e_q(z)=exp{b(z)} where b(z) is a simple, explicit power series in terms of values of these sum rules. The values of the sum rules for the q-trigonometric functions, sin_q(z) and cos_q(z), are q-deformations of the usual Bernoulli numbers.

On Quantum Groups in the Hubbard Model with Phonons

The correct Hamiltonian for an extended Hubbard model with quantum group symmetry as introduced by A. Montorsi and M. Rasetti is derived for a D-dimensional lattice. It is shown that the superconducting SUq(2) holds as a true quantum symmetry only for D = 1 and that terms of higher order in the fermionic operators in addition to phonons are required for a quantum symmetric hamiltonian. The condition for quantum symmetry is "half filling" and there is no local electron-phonon coupling. A discussion of Quantum symmetries in general is given in a formalism that should be readily accessible to non Hopf-algebraists.

Quantum Group Symmetry in Multiple Chern-Simons Theory on a Torus

We discuss $w_\infty$ and $sl_q(2)$ symmetries in multiple Chern-Simons theory on a torus. It is shown that these algebraic structures arise from the dynamics of the non-integrable phases of the Chern-Simons fields. The generators of these algebras are constructed from the Wilson line operators corresponding to these phases. The vacuum states form the basis of cyclic representation of $sl_q (2)$.

Recursion relations and branching rules for simple Lie algebras

The branching rules between simple Lie algebras and its regular (maximal) simple subalgebras are studied. Two types of recursion relations for anomalous relative multiplicities are obtained. One of them is proved to be the factorized version of the other. The factorization property is based on the existence of the set of weights $Γ$ specific for each injection. The structure of $Γ$ is easily deduced from the correspondence between the root systems of algebra and subalgebra. The recursion relations thus obtained give rise to simple and effective algorithm for branching rules. The details are exposed by performing the explicit decomposition procedure for $A_{3} \oplus u(1) \to B_{4}$ injection.

New Generalized Poisson Structures

New generalized Poisson structures are introduced by using suitable skew-symmetric contravariant tensors of even order. The corresponding `Jacobi identities' are provided by conditions on these tensors, which may be understood as cocycle conditions. As an example, we provide the linear generalized Poisson structures which can be constructed on the dual spaces of simple Lie algebras.
