Localized exact solutions of $\mathcal{PT}$ symmetric nonlinear Schrödinger equation with space and time modulated nonlinearities

Using canonical transformations we obtain localized (in space) exact solutions of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) with space and time modulated nonlinearity and in the presence of an external potential depending on space and time. In particular we obtain exact solutions of NLSE in the presence of a number of non Hermitian $\mathcal{PT}$ symmetric external potentials.

On the Schrödinger equation for the free gravitational field

The Hamiltonian of the metric General Relativity derived in our earlier study (Gravitation, {\bf 17}, 314 - 323 (2011)) is analyzed by the methods of Matrix Quantum Mechanics. This Hamiltonian is a quadratic function of the momenta $π^{mn}$ conjugate to the spatial components $g_{mn}$ of the metric tensor $g_{αβ}$. The Hamiltonian is reduced to the new form which is more convenient to derive the Schrödinger equation for the free gravitational field. In turn, this Schrödinger equation is used to study possible motions of the free gravitational field(s). In particular, it is shown that harmonic oscillations of the free gravitational field, or harmonic gravitational waves, cannot be observed as an actual motion of this field. We also investigate the internal structure of the solitary gravitational wave.

An Overview of the Pathway Idea in Statistical and Physical Sciences

Pathway idea is a switching mechanism by which one can go from one functional form to another, and to yet another. It is shown that through a parameter $α$, called the pathway parameter, one can connect generalized type-1 beta family of densities, generalized type-2 beta family of densities, and generalized gamma family of densities, in the scalar as well as the matrix cases, also in the real and complex domains. It is shown that when the model is applied to physical situations then the current hot topics of Tsallis statistics and superstatistics in statistical mechanics become special cases of the pathway model, and the model is capable of capturing many stable situations as well as the unstable or chaotic neighborhoods of the stable situations and transitional stages. The pathway model is shown to be connected to generalized information measures or entropies, power law, likelihood ratio criterion or $λ-$criterion in multivariate statistical analysis, generalized Dirichlet densities, fractional calculus, Mittag-Leffler stochastic process, Krätzel integral in applied analysis, and many other topics in different disciplines. The pathway model enables one to extend the current results on quadratic and bilinear forms, when the samples come from Gaussian populations, to wider classes of populations.

Limiting Approach to Generalized Gamma Bessel Model via Fractional Calculus and its Applications in Various Disciplines

The essentials of fractional calculus according to different approaches that can be useful for our applications in the theory of probability and stochastic processes are established. In addition to this, from this fractional integral one can list out almost all the extended densities for the pathway parameter $q < 1$ and $q \rightarrow 1$. Here we bring out the idea of thicker or thinner tailed models associated with a gamma type distribution as a limiting case of pathway operator. Applications of this extended gamma model in Statistical Mechanics, input-output models, and solar spectral irradiance modeling etc are established.

Notes on a Theorem of Benci-Gluck-Ziller-Hayashi

We use constrained variational minimizing methods to study the existence of periodic solutions with a prescribed energy for a class of second order Hamiltonian systems with a $C^2$ potential function which may have an unbounded potential well. Our result can be regarded as complementary to the well-known theorem of Benci-Gluck-Ziller and Hayashi.

Generalization of the hypervirial and Feynman-Hellman theorems

Using well-known methods we generalize (hyper)virial theorems to case of singular potential. Discussion is carried on for most general second order differential equation, which involves all physically interesting cases, such as Schrödinger and two-body Klein-Gordon equations with singular potentials. Some physical consequences are discussed. The connection with Feynman-Hellmann like theorems are also considered and some relevant differences are underlined.

New and general framework for adsorption processes on dynamic interfaces

We introduce a new and general continuum thermodynamic framework for the mathematical analysis and computation of adsorption on dynamic interfaces. To the best of our knowledge, there is no formulation available that accounts for the coupled dynamics of interfaces and densities of adsorbants. Our framework leads to analytic adsorption isotherms which also take the interfacial geometry fully into account. We demonstrate the utility and physical consistency of our framework with a new computational multi-level discretization strategy. In the computations, we recover the experimentally observed feature that the adsorption of particles minimizes the interfacial tension.

A Fractional Generalization of the Poisson Processes and Some of its Properties

We have provided a fractional generalization of the Poisson renewal processes by replacing the first time derivative in the relaxation equation of the survival probability by a fractional derivative of order $α~(0 < α\leq 1)$. A generalized Laplacian model associated with the Mittag-Leffler distribution is examined. We also discuss some properties of this new model and its relevance to time series. Distribution of gliding sums, regression behaviors and sample path properties are studied. Finally we introduce the $q$-Mittag-Leffler process associated with the $q$-Mittag-Leffler distribution.

Fractional variational problems depending on fractional derivatives of differentiable functions with application to nonlinear chaotic systems

In the present work, we formulate a necessary condition for functionals with Lagrangians depending on fractional derivatives of differentiable functions to possess an extremum. The Euler-Lagrange equation we obtained generalizes previously known results in the literature and enables us to construct simple Lagrangians for nonlinear systems. As examples of application, we obtain Lagrangians for some chaotic dynamical systems.

A Herman-Avila-Bochi formula for higher dimensional pseudo-unitary and hermitian-symplectic cocycles

A Herman-Avila-Bochi type formula is obtained for the average sum of the top d Lyapunov exponents over a one-parameter family of G-cocycles, where G is the group that leaves a certain, non-degenerate hermitian form of signature (c,d) invariant. The generic example of such a group is the pseudo-unitary group U(c,d) or in the case c=d, the hermitian-symplectic group HSp(2d) which naturally appears for cocycles related to Schrödinger operators. In the case d=1, the formula for HSp(2d) cocycles reduces to the Herman-Avila-Bochi formula for SL(2,R) cocycles.

A model with two quantum particles similar to the hydrogen atom

The hydrogen atom with the Coulomb interaction is one of the exactly solvable non-relativistic quantum models. Unlike many other exactly solvable models it describes a real physical object providing the formulas for energy levels and stationary state wave functions of a real hydrogen atom. In this paper we modify the model replacing the Coulomb interaction by the interaction of the proton and the electron with the classical electromagnetic field serving as an intermediary transmitting the electromagnetic interaction of these two charged quantum particles.

The Lie Transform Method for perturbations of contravariant antisymmetric tensor fields and its applications to Hamiltonian dynamics

By means of the Schouten calculus for contravariant antisymmetric tensor fields, we apply the Lie transform method to investigate smooth deformations of tensor fields and, in particular, to perturbations of Hamiltonian systems generated by deformations of the Poisson bracket. Using results by Karasev and Vorobiev on the computation of Poisson cohomology we describe infinitesimal generators for the Lie transformations. We give applications to perturbed Euler equations on six dimensional Lie coalgebras and to Hamiltonian systems on Poisson manifolds equipped with Dirac brackets.

Structure and different realizations of the extended real Clifford-Dirac algebra

The structure of the 64-dimensional extended real Clifford-Dirac (ERCD) algebra, which has been introduced in our paper Phys. Lett. A. 375 (2011) 2479, is under consideration. The subalgebras of this algebra are investigated: the 29-dimensional proper ERCD algebra and 32-dimensional pure matrix algebra of invariance of the Dirac equation in the Foldy-Wouthuysen representation. The last one is the maximal pure matrix algebra of invariance of this equation. The different realizations of the proper ERCD algebra are given. The application of proper ERCD algebra is illustrated on the example of the derivation of the hidden spin (1,0) Poincare symmetry of the Dirac equation.

Method of problem solution of diffraction and scattering theory

Problem solutions in area of diffraction and of scattering theory are considered from one point of view. The method common for them is based on approximate orthogonality of solution constituents, which oscillate on a body long frontier. Method potentiality is discussed.
