Quantum-Mechanical Consequences of Five-Dimensional Relativity

I outline a model where a massive particle in 4D spacetime follows a null (photon-like) path in 5D canonical (super-spherically-symmetric) space. This leads to wave-particle duality and quantization, along with other effects which show that it is possible to unify general relativity and wave mechanics in a simple fashion, given an extra dimension.

Longitudinal light clock vs special relativity

In order to respect the Principle of Relativity, the analysis of the behavior of the longitudinal light clock reveals the necessity to extend the Doppler effect also to space and time. As a consequence, the bodies in inertial motion must dilate along the direction of their movement.

Red Shift in a Laboraory Environment

A hypotheses of energy loss for polarization of e-e+ vacuum by a photon passing interstellar space is considered. An excitation and relaxation of vacuum can't run with speed of light due to very small but finite fraction of e-e+ pair mass that creates a retardment in recuperation of deposited energy back to photon. This "forgotten" by many photons energy is finally splashed out in real space as a Relic Radiation. An assumption that such energy loss is proportional to a photon energy conforms to Hubble low of Red Shift and experimental data treated as accelerated expansion of Universe. A possibility of an observation of this type energy loss is considered at high-energy accelerators where energy deposition may reach up hundreds MeV in second.

Propagation of light: Coherent or Monte-Carlo computation ?

Wrong Monte-Carlo computations are used to study the propagation of light in low pressure gas of nebulae. We recall that the incoherent interactions required for Monte Carlo calculations and hindering coherent interactions are due to collisions that disappear at low pressure. Incoherent interactions blur the images while coherent do not. We introduce coherent optical effects or substitute them for Monte Carlo calculations in published papers, improving the results and avoiding the introduction of "new physics". The spectral radiance of novae has the magnitude of the radiance of lasers, and large column densities are available in the nebulae. Several types of coherent interactions (superradiance, multiphoton effects, etc..), well studied using lasers, work in nebulae as in laboratories. The relatively thin shell of plasma containing atoms around a Strômgren sphere is superradiant, so that the limb of the sphere is seen as a circle which may be dotted into an even number of "pearls". The superradiant beams induce a multiphotonic scattering of the light rays emitted by the star, improving the brightness of the limb and darkening the star. Impulsive Stimulated Raman Scatterings (ISRS) in excited atomic hydrogen shift the frequencies of electromagnetic waves: UV-X lines of the Sun are red- or blue-shifted, the microwaves exchanged with the Pioneer 10 and 11 probes are blueshifted (no anomalous acceleration needed), the far stars are redshifted. Without any "new physics", coherent spectroscopy works as a magic stick to explain many observations.

Unified Theory of Wave-Particle Duality, the Schrödinger Equations, and Quantum Diffraction

Individual quantum objects display inseparable coexisting wave-like properties and particle-like properties; such inseparable coexistence can seem paradoxical and mind-boggling. The apparent paradox is resolved by the unified theory of wave-particle duality developed in this paper. Based on the unified theory of wave-particle duality, a straightforward derivation of the Schrödinger equations is presented where previously no such derivation was considered to be possible. A new theory of quantum diffraction is subsequently developed.

The Regular Universe

A regular (i.e., singularity-free) cycling cosmological model is advanced. In the model, there are only two constants: the gravitational constant (or the Planck time) and the cosmic period. The radius of the universe is a simple periodic function of cosmic time. The regularity of the construction is achieved via the condition that the measure associated with metric be the Haar measure on the 3-space. The possibility of the construction is due to dark matter---as long as it is treated not as a particle matter, but as a compensational tensor field. The metrodynamical equation, i.e., an equation for metric, is derived and expressions for the pressure, energy and momentum compensons are obtained.

About mechanics of the structured particles

The principles of creation of the mechanics of structured particles in the frame of the Newton's laws are considered. The explanation how this mechanics leads to the account of dissipative forces is offered. Why the motions of the system determine by two type of symmetry: symmetry of the system and symmetry of space and how it leads to two types of energy and forces accordingly are discussed. How the mechanics of the structured particles leads to thermodynamics, statistical physics and kinetics are explained.

The Genesis of the Big-Bang and Inflation

The standard model of cosmology posits that some time in the remote past, labelled as t=0, a Big-Bang occurred. However, it does not tell what caused the Big-Bang and subsequently the Inflation. In the present work the cause of the Big-Bang and Inflation is suggested on the basis of the hints provided by the experimental findings at CERN and RHIC. The model used is singularity free Newtonian, i.e., non-relativistic, oscillatory model of the universe in which the "space" does not expand whereas all the relativistic cosmological models of the universe including the standard model, except the now discredited Einstein's static model, imply that apart from the matter and the radiation in the universe the "space" is also expanding. However, there is no observational evidence whatsoever of the expansion of the "space" and as such, in all probability, the "space" is not at all expanding. A critique of the singularity theorems is also given on the basis of the experimental findings at CERN and RHIC and it is emphasized that no gravitationally collapsing object can collapse to a singularity, if it does, the time honoured Pauli's exclusion principle would be violated.

Charged Particles are Prevented from Going Faster than the Speed of Light by Light Itself: A Biophysical Cell Biologist's Contribution to Physics

Investigations of living organisms have led biologists and physicians to introduce fundamental concepts, including Brownian motion, the First Law of Thermodynamics, Poiseuille's Law of fluid flow, and Fick's Law of diffusion into physics. Given the prominence of viscous forces within and around cells and the experience of identifying and quantifying such resistive forces, biophysical cell biologists have an unique perspective in discovering the viscous forces that cause moving particles to respond to an applied force in a nonlinear manner. Using my experience as a biophysical cell biologist, I show that in any space consisting of a photon gas with a temperature above absolute zero, Doppler-shifted photons exert a velocity-dependent viscous force on moving charged particles. This viscous force prevents charged particles from exceeding the speed of light. Consequently, light itself prevents charged particles from moving faster than the speed of light. This interpretation provides a testable alternative to the interpretation provided by the Special Theory of Relativity, which contends that particles are prevented from exceeding the speed of light as a result of the relativity of time.

Confusion in Thermodynamics

For a long time now, confusion has existed in the minds of many over the meaning of various concepts in thermodynamics. Recently, this point has been brought to people's attention by two articles appearing on the well-known archive (arxiv) web site. The content of these two pieces serves to illustrate many of the problems and has occasioned the construction of this answer to at least some of them. The position of the axiom proposed by Carathéodory is central in this matter and here its position is clarified and secured within the framework of thermodynamics. In particular, its relation to the First Law is examined and justified.

The true cause of magnetostriction

The cause of magnetostriction is revealed by analyzing this phenomenon in a polydomain crystal of Fe. It is based on the two fundamentals: (a) magnetization is a rearrangement of spins by rearrangement of the crystal structure, and (b) the α-Fe has a tetragonal rather than cubic structure. The magnetostriction results from bringing the shorter tetragonal axis to coincide with, or closer to the direction of the applied magnetic field. It is not rooted in the alleged deformation of crystal unit cell.

H2: entanglement, probability density function, confined Kratzer oscillator, universal potential and (Mexican hat- or bell-type) potential energy curves

We review harmonic oscillator theory for closed, stable quantum systems. The H2 potential energy curve (PEC) of Mexican hat-type, calculated with a confined Kratzer oscillator, is better than the Rydberg-Klein-Rees (RKR) H2 PEC. Compared with QM, the theory of chemical bonding is simplified, since a confined Kratzer oscillator gives the long sought for universal function, once called the Holy Grail of Molecular Spectroscopy. This is validated with HF, I2, N2 and O2 PECs. We quantify the entanglement of spatially separated H2 quantum states, which gives a braid view. The equal probability for H2, originating either from HA+HB or HB+HA, is quantified with a Gauss probability density function. At the Bohr scale, confined harmonic oscillators behave properly at all extremes of bound two-nucleon quantum systems and are likely to be useful also at the nuclear scale.

Astronomical alignments as the cause of ~M6+ seismicity

I here demonstrate empirically my georesonator concept in which tidally induced magnification of Earth masses' resonance causes seismicity on Earth. I show that all strong (~M6+) earthquakes of 2010 occurred during Earth's long (t > 3 days) astronomical alignments within our solar system. I then show that the same holds true for all very strong (~M8+) earthquakes of the decade of 2000's. Finally, strongest (M8.6+) earthquakes of the past century are shown to have occurred during Earth's multiple long alignments, too, whereas half of the high-strongest (M9+) earthquakes occurred during Full Moon. To add robustness, I include alignments to comet C/2010 X1 (Elenin) as the only heavenly body currently in our solar system besides planets, and show that it impacted very strong seismicity since 2007. I conclude my empirical demonstration with a six-month, 100%-successful forecast of M6+ magnification, performed online in near real-time from October 2011 until April 2012, and which shows always the same, fractal pattern of intensifying-peaking-diminishing of strong earthquakes' strength during long alignments, and the absence of the pattern outside alignments. Days without killer quake can now be known exactly, amounting to several months a year of exact seismic forecast (telling with certainty there will be no strong seisms on that-and-that date). Approximate forecast of strength and timing of strong earthquakes is feasible for the rest of the year, as well as of location once the alignment starts. I thus verified my hyperresonator concept too, arrived at earlier as a mathematical-physical solution to the most general extension of georesonator. As gravity can now be expressed in terms of speed of light, hyperresonance is akin to tuning forks triggering each other at a distance, inferring the existence of aether required for propagation of mutually tuning (interfering) oscillations in Space.

Lepton bound states in a fundamental description of elementary forces

In the flavour dependence hadrons and leptons show a mass relation, not expected in the Standard Model. This can be understood in an analysis, based on a particle Lagrangian with Maxwell term, boson-boson coupling and massless fermions (quantons), in which hadrons are described as stationary systems of quantons bound by an electric interaction, whereas leptons represent systems bound magnetically.
