Electromagnetic Signals from Bacterial DNA

Chemical reactions can be induced at a distance due to the propagation of electromagnetic signals during intermediate chemical stages. Although it is well known at optical frequencies, e.g. photosynthetic reactions, electromagnetic signals hold true for much lower frequencies. In E. coli bacteria such electromagnetic signals can be generated by electric transitions between energy levels describing electrons moving around DNA loops. The electromagnetic signals between different bacteria within a community is a "wireless" version of intercellular communication found in bacterial communities connected by "nanowires". The wireless broadcasts can in principle be of both the AM and FM variety due to the magnetic flux periodicity in electron energy spectra in bacterial DNA orbital motions.

Influence of rotation speed on natural frequency: A short introduction and presentation of an imaginary 'antigravity' world

We present an instructive way to introduce the subject of resonance using a typical spring-mass system without damping. In contrast to the standard approach found in most textbooks, here we propose a way to extend the lectures from common translational systems to rotating ones. In the latter case, particular attention is paid to the role of the variable centripetal force. The students will find analytical solutions of the simplest possible ordinary differential equations of motion and see that the natural frequency strongly depends on the rotation speed, the latter being a simple vector sum. The analysis reveals that always the resultant ground force is harmonic. In order to depict the significance in the influence of rotation on natural frequency, we present an imaginary 'antigravity' world in which the aforementioned dependency is absent.

New Lectures on Supergravity

This essay aims to summarize the main physical features arising from a new supersymmetric theory of gravitation. Based on preliminary discussions about classical field theory, cosmology, algebra and group theory, and taking formal results and theoretical considerations in comparison with several contributions from great authors, present work deals with gravity inside the limits of a meta-field theory, that is, a non-quantized but consistent representation of supergravity, the supersymmetry between gravitons and gravitinos. The introduction of meta-fields furnishes an independent framework for the study of gravity despite of constraints of quantization, treating the supersymmetric partners as deterministic actors of gravitation and not simply probabilistic entities. I explain my belief that gravitational field, by its own nature, is not quantizable in the same foot as the other fields, what does not means that we can not understand gravity by similar formal veins. Also, present work proposes the implementation of the so-called SCYL program (Supersymmetric Cosmology at Yonder Locals), an attempt to apply supergravity as a meta-field theory to solve problems on astrophysical cosmology. The SCYL program is an effort directed to search convergence between the knowledge brought by cosmology and by supersymmetry to attain more clearness about the structure and evolution of the Universe. As an additional motivation, there are some exercises in the final part of the work to aid fixing of the main concepts.

On an intrinsic quantum theoretical structure inside Einstein's gravity field equations

As is well known, Einstein was dissatisfied with the foundation of quantum theory and sought to find a basis for it that would have satisfied his need for a causal explanation. In this paper this abandoned idea is investigated. It is found that it is mathematically not dead at all. More in particular: a quantum mechanical U(1) gauge invariant Dirac equation can be derived from Einstein's gravity field equations. We ask ourselves what it means for physics, the history of physics and for the actual discussion on foundations.

Phenomenology of "dark matter"- from the Everett's quantum cosmology

It is widely accepted that the Everett's (or "many-worlds") interpretation of quantum mechanics is the only one which is appropriate for quantum cosmology because no environment may exist for Universe as a whole. We discuss, in the framework of the Everett's interpretation, the (quasi-) classical stage of evolution of the Universe when there coexist "classically incompatible" configurations of matter, or classical alternative realities ("alternatives" for short). In the framework of the Everett's interpretation the semiclassical gravity (where the gravitational field is classical and the non-gravitational fields are quantum) is more natural than theories including quantizing gravitational field. It is shown that the semiclassical (at least on the astrophysical and cosmological scales) Everett-type gravity leads to the observational effect known as the effect of dark matter. Instead of assuming special forms of matter (weakly interacting with the known matter), the role of the dark matter is played in this case by the matter of the usual kind which however belongs to those alternative realities (Everett's worlds) which remain «invisible», i.e. not perceived with the help of non-gravitational fields.

A crucial dipole test of the expansion center Universe - based on high-z SCP Union & Union2 supernovae

The expansion center Universe (ECU) gives a dipole anisotropy to the Hubble ratio, at any Hubble depth D. After a long series of successful dipole tests, here is a crucial multiple dipole test at z bins centred on the mean =z0=1, or Hubble depth D=c/H0, and based on data from SCP Union & Union2 compilation. Table 5abc lists data of two main samples, with 48 SCPU SNe Ia and 58 SCPU2 SNe Ia respectively. The confirmed dipole anisotropy, shown by 6 primary sample tests and by another 27 from 9 encapsulated z bins with DL=D(1+z) assumed and the Hubble Magnitude definition, gives a model independent result, in full accordance with the expansion center model (ECM). That means a maximum cz range of about 50000 km/s at the central redshift z0=1. As a complement to the dipole tests, here is a new computation of the relativistic deceleration parameter q0, based on the extrapolated total M spread, that is the deviation of the Hubble Magnitude M of high-z SCP Union supernovae at a normal or central redshift =z0=z << 1 from the absolute magnitude M0 at z0=0 (cf. parallel paper XVI). A total M spread according to ECM is derived from 249 high-z SCPU SNe listed in paper XVI. In a concordance test with the expansion center model, the obtained new relativistic q0 agrees with the value q0=+2 inferred from the ECM paper I eq. (41), when R0 is the proper distance at t0 of the expansion center from the Galaxy.

The Dirac Field at the Future Conformal Singularity

We examine in detail the effect of the conformal factor associated with the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker spacetimes on the discrete symmetries usually present in the Dirac theory and analyze the behavior of the Dirac wavefunction near the future conformal singularity. We find that only two of the 4 bi-spinor components survive to the boundary, one effect of which is to cause the geodesics to experience a drag towards the Hubble frame. We then present arguments for the existence of a genuine boundary condition on the wavefunction at the future conformal singularity based upon the assumption there is no redundant copy of the universe in the post-conformal singularity era. This future boundary condition affects the spectral decomposition of the wavefunction, and this maybe locally testable at the present time.

Effect of the Earth's time-retarded transverse gravitational field on the motion of the Moon

Classical Newtonian gravitational theory does not satisfy the causality principle because it is based on instantaneous action-at-a-distance. A causal version of Newtonian theory for a large rotating sphere is derived herein by time-retarding the distance between interior circulating point-mass sources and an exterior field-point. The resulting causal theory explains exactly the flyby anomaly reported by NASA scientists in 2008. It also explains exactly an anomalous decrease in the Moon's orbital speed. No other known theory can make both of these claims.

On time-interval transformations in special relativity

We revisit the problem of the Lorentz transformation of time-intervals in special relativity. We base our discussion on the time-interval transformation formula $ cΔt' = γ(cΔt - \vecβ \cdot Δ\vec{r}) $ in which $ Δt'$ and $ Δt $ are the time-intervals between a given pair of events, in two inertial frames $ S $ and $ S'$ connected by an general boost. We observe that the Einstein time-dilation-formula, the Doppler formula and the relativity of simultaneity, all follow when one the frames in the time-interval transformation formula is chosen as the canonical frame of the underlying event-pair. We also discuss the interesting special case $ Δt' = γΔt $ of the time-interval transformation formula obtained by setting $ \vecβ \cdot Δ\vec{r}=0 $ in it and argue why it is really \textbf{not} the Einstein time-dilation formula. Finally, we present some examples which involve material particles instead of light rays, and highlight the utility of time-interval transformation formula as a calculational tool in the class room.

A possible mechanism for the origin of inertia in de Sitter-fantappié-arcidiacono projective relativity

Fantappié-Arcidiacono projective relativity, also known as "de Sitter relativity", provides a formulation of mechanics according to which it is possible to identify an inertial frame of reference by means of kinematic methods. This article presents the hypothesis that inertial frames of reference originated during the so-called "archaic era" of the Universe. A simple mechanism is proposed for this process. Such a process could leave behind cosmic fluid granulation, which could manifest itself in the present Universe as a clustering of dark matter in galaxies.

The unified quantum wave equation

The quaterionic formulation of quantum mechanics yields the unified quantum wave equation (UQWEs). From these equations, Dirac, Klein - Gordon and Schrodinger equations can be derived. While the UQWEs represent a matter wave (de Broglie), the Maxwell equations represent a transverse wave (field). Owing to UQWEs, the spin-0 and spin-1/2 particle are described by a wavepacket consisting of waves traveling to the left and to the right with speed of light. UQWEs show that spin-0 and spin-1/2 are in continuous states of creation and annihilation that are compatible with Heisenberg uncertainty relation. The creation - annihilation process is a result of the time translation property of the particle wavefunction. These are $E'=E-im_0c^2$ and $E'=E\pm m_0c^2$, for Klein-Gordon' and Dirac' particles, respectively. It is found that $\frac{\hbar}{m_0c^2}$ is the period of the creation -annihilation process.

A Stable Massive Charged Particle

We consider the possibility of the existence of a stable massive charged particle by a minimal extension of the standard model particle content. Absolute stability in the case of singly charged particle is not possible if the usual doublet Higgs exists, unless a discrete symmetry is imposed. But a doubly charged particle is absolutely stable.

Climate Change Policies for the XXIst Century: Mechanisms, Predictions and Recommendations

Recent experimental works demonstrated that the Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) hypothesis, embodied in a series of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) global climate models, is erroneous. These works prove that atmospheric carbon dioxide contributes only very moderately to the observed warming, and that there is no climatic catastrophe in the making, independent on whether or not carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced. In view of these developments, we discuss climate predictions for the XXIst century. Based on the solar activity tendencies, a new Little Ice Age is predicted by the middle of this century, with significantly lower global temperatures. We also show that IPCC climate models can't produce any information regarding future climate, due to essential physical phenomena lacking in those, and that the current budget deficit in many EU countries is mainly caused by the policies promoting renewable energies and other AGW-motivated measures. In absence of any predictable adverse climate consequences of carbon dioxide emissions, and with no predictable shortage of fossil fuels, we argue for recalling of all policies aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions and usage of expensive renewable energy sources. The concepts of carbon credits, green energy and green fuels should be abandoned in favor of productive, economically viable and morally acceptable solutions.

A cyclic cosmological model based on the f(ρ) modified theory of gravity

We consider FLRW cosmological models for perfect fluid (with rho as the energy density) in the frame work of the f(rho) modified theory of gravity [V. N. Tunyak, Russ. Phys. J. 21, 1221 (1978); J. R. Ray, L. L. Smalley, Phys. Rev. D. 26, 2615 (1982) ]. This theory, with total Lagrangian R-f(rho), can be considered as a cousin of the F(R) theory of gravity with total Lagrangian F(R)-rho. We can pick proper function forms f(rho) to achieve, as the F(R) theory does, the following 4 specific goals, (1) producing a non-singular cosmological model (Ricci scalar and Ricci tensor curvature are bounded); (2) explaining the cosmic early inflation and late acceleration in a unified fashion; (3) passing the solar system tests; (4) unifying the dark matter with dark energy. In addition we also achieve goal number (5): unify the regular matter/energy with dark matter/energy in a seamless fashion. The mathematics is simplified because in the f(rho) theory the leading terms in Einstein's equations are linear in second order derivative of metric wrt coordinates but in the F(R) theory the leading terms are linear in fourth order derivative of metric wrt coordinates.

Cross-sections of long and short baseline neutrino and antineutrino oscillations of which some change the flavor

The Pontecorvo-Maki-Nakagava-Sakata (PMNS) modified electroweak Lagrangian yields, within the perturbative kinematical procedure in the massive neutrino Fock space, in addition to the Lorentz invariant standard model (SM) neutrino and antineutrino cross-sections, also the "infinitesimal" neutrino and antineutrino cross-sections some of which are either conserving or violating the Lorentz symmetry as well as also either conserving or violating the flavor symmetry. Some of these infinitesimal differential cross-sections can be extended into the space oscillation region beyond the collision point. The extension goes along the baseline defined by the flavor neutrino or antineutrino scattering angle. Each of these oscillation differential cross-sections, being sinusoidal, change sign along the baseline; some start positive and some negative at the collision point. For each of them one seeks the baseline distance to the first differential cross-section maximum.

Plane wave in a moving medium and resolution of the Abraham-Minkowski debate by the special principle of relativity

In this paper, a novel approach for resolution of the Abraham-Minkowski debate is proposed, in which the principle of relativity is used to uniquely determine the light momentum formulation for a plane wave in a moving non-dispersive lossless isotropic uniform medium. It is shown by analysis of the plane-wave solution that, (1) there may be a pseudo-power flow when a medium moves, and the Poynting vector does not necessarily denote the direction of real power flowing, (2) Minkowski's light momentum and energy constitute a Lorentz four-vector in a form of single photon or single EM-field cell, and Planck constant is a Lorentz invariant, (3) there is no momentum transfer taking place between the plane wave and the uniform medium, and the EM momentum conservation equation cannot be uniquely determined without resort to the principle of relativity, and (4) the moving medium behaves as a so-called "negative index medium" when it moves opposite to the wave vector at a faster-than-dielectric light speed. It is also shown by analysis of EM-field Lorentz transformations that, when a static electric (magnetic) field moves in free space, neither Abraham's nor Minkowski's formulation can correctly describe a real electromagnetic momentum; as an application of this principle, the classical electron mass-energy paradox is analyzed and resolved. Finally, a general EM momentum definition is proposed, and according to this new definition, the traditional "Abraham-type" and "Minkowski-type" momentums in the dispersion wave-guiding systems, such as regular dielectric-filled metallic waveguides, are found to be included in the same momentum formulation, but they appear at different frequencies.
