The Wess-Zumino-Witten-Novikov theory, Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations, and Krichever-Novikov algebras, II

This paper continues the same-named article, Part I (math.QA/9812083). We give a global operator approach to the WZWN theory for compact Riemann surfaces of an arbitrary genus g with marked points. Globality means here that we use Krichever-Novikov algebras of gauge and conformal symmetries (i.e. algebras of global symmetries) instead of loop and Virasoro algebras (which are local in this context). The elements of this global approach are described in Part I. In the present paper we give the construction of conformal blocks and the projective flat connection on the bundle constituted by them.

A construction of admissible $A_1^{(1)}$-modules of level $-{4/3}$

By using generalized vertex algebras associated to rational lattices, we construct explicitly the admissible modules for the affine Lie algebra $A_1 ^{(1)}$ of level $-{4/3}$. As an application, we show that the W(2,5) algebra with central charge c=-7 investigated in math.QA/0207155 is a subalgebra of the simple affine vertex operator algebra $L(-{4/3}Λ_0)$.

Integral theory for Hopf Algebroids

The theory of integrals is used to analyse the structure of Hopf algebroids, introduced in math.QA/0302325. We prove that the total algebra of the Hopf algebroid is a separable extension of the base algebra if and only if it is a semi-simple extension and if and only if the Hopf algebroid possesses a normalized integral. The total algebra of a finitely generated and projective Hopf algebroid is a Frobenius extension of the base algebrahe Hopf algebroid possesses anormalized integral. We give also a sufficient and necessary condition in terms of integrals under which it is a quasi-Frobenius extension and illustrate by an example that this condition does not hold true in general. Our results are generalizations of classical results on Hopf algebras.

Tensor categories attached to double groupoids

The construction of a quantum groupoid out of a double groupoid satisfying a filling condition and a perturbation datum is given. This extends previous work that appeared in math.QA/0308228. Several important classes of examples of tensor categories are shown to fit into this construction. Certain invariants such as a pivotal group-like element and quantum and Frobenius-Perron dimensions of simple objects are computed.

A Simple Algebraic Proof of the Algebraic Index Theorem

In math.QA/0311303 B. Feigin, G. Felder, and B. Shoikhet proposed an explicit formula for the trace density map from the quantum algebra of functions on an arbitrary symplectic manifold M to the top degree cohomology of M. They also evaluated this map on the trivial element of K-theory of the algebra of quantum functions. In our paper we evaluate the map on an arbitrary element of K-theory, and show that the result is expressed in terms of the A-genus of M, the Deligne-Fedosov class of the quantum algebra, and the Chern character of the principal symbol of the element. For a smooth (real) symplectic manifold (without a boundary), this result implies the Fedosov-Nest-Tsygan algebraic index theorem.

Canonical bases of loop algebras via quot schemes II

This paper is a sequel (and contains a better treatment) of math.QA/0404032; We construct some canonical bases for quantum toroidal algebras of types D_4, E_6, E_7, E_8 using perverse sheaves on quot schemes parametrizing equivariant coherent sheaves on elliptic curves. We also study some compatibility properties of these bases with some natural filtrations and modules.

Hopf algebroids and Galois extensions

To a finite Hopf-Galois extension $A | B$ we associate dual bialgebroids $S := \End_BA_B$ and $T := (A ø_B A)^B$ over the centralizer $R$ using the depth two theory in math.RA/0108067. First we extend results on the equivalence of certain properties of Hopf-Galois extensions with corresponding properties of the coacting Hopf algebra \cite{KT,Doi} to depth two extensions using coring theory math.RA/0002105. Next we show that $T^{\rm op}$ is a Hopf algebroid over the centralizer $R$ via Lu's theorem 5.1 in math.QA/9505024 for smash products with special modules over the Drinfel'd double, the Miyashita-Ulbrich action, the fact that $R$ is a commutative algebra in the pre-braided category of Yetter-Drinfel'd modules \cite[Schauenburg]{Sch} and the equivalence of Yetter-Drinfel'd modules with modules over Drinfel'd double \cite[Majid]{Maj}. In our last section, an exposition of results of Sugano \cite{Su82,Su87} leads us to a Galois correspondence between sub-Hopf algebroids of $S$ over simple subalgebras of the centralizer with finite projective intermediate simple subrings of a finite projective H-separable extension of simple rings $A \supseteq B$.

Galois theory for bialgebroids, depth two and normal Hopf subalgebras

We reduce certain proofs in math.RA/0108067, math.RA/0408155, and math.QA/0409589 to depth two quasibases from one side only, a minimalistic approach which leads to a characterization of Galois extensions for finite projective bialgebroids without the Frobenius extension property. We prove that a proper algebra extension is a left $T$-Galois extension for some right finite projective left bialgebroid over some algebra $R$ if and only if it is a left depth two and left balanced extension. Exchanging left and right in this statement, we have a characterization of right Galois extensions for left finite projective right bialgebroids. Looking to examples of depth two, we establish that a Hopf subalgebra is normal if and only if it is a Hopf-Galois extension. We characterize finite weak Hopf-Galois extensions using an alternate Galois canonical mapping with several corollaries: that these are depth two and that surjectivity of the Galois mapping implies its bijectivity.

Quantum cluster algebras: Oberwolfach talk, February 2005

This is an extended abstract of my talk at the Oberwolfach-Workshop "Representation Theory of Finite-Dimensional Algebras" (February 6 - 12, 2005). It gives self-contained and simplified definitions of quantum cluster algebras introduced and studied in a joint work with A.Berenstein (math.QA/0404446).

McKay's observation and vertex operator algebras generated by two conformal vectors of central charge 1/2

This paper is a continuation of our paper math.QA/0403010 at which several coset subalgebras of the lattice VOA $V_{\sqrt{2}E_8}$ were constructed and the relationship between such algebras with the famous McKay observation on the extended E_8 diagram and the Monster simple group were discussed. In this article, we shall provide the technical details. We completely determine the structure of the coset subalgebras constructed and show that they are all generated by two conformal vectors of central charge 1/2. We also study the representation theory of these coset subalgebras and show that the product of two Miyamoto involutions is in the desired conjugacy class of the Monster simple group if a coset subalgebra U is actually contained in the Moonshine VOA. The existence of U inside the Moonshine VOA for the cases of 1A, 2A, 2B and 4A is also established. Moreover, the cases for 3A, 5A and 3C are discussed.

Representation Theory of W-Algebras

This paper is the detailed version of math.QA/0403477 (T. Arakawa, Quantized Reductions and Irreducible Representations of W-Algebras) with extended results; We study the representation theory of the W-algebra $W_k(g)$ associated with a simple Lie algebra $g$ (and its principle nilpotent element) at level k. We show that the "-" reduction functor is exact and sends an irreducible module to zero or an irreducible module at any level k. Moreover, we show that the character of each irreducible highest weight representation of $W_k(g)$ is completely determined by that of the corresponding irreducible highest weight representation of affine Lie algebra of $g$.

Irreducible highest-weight modules and equivariant quantization

We generalize the results of [KMST] concerning equivariant quantization by means of Verma modules $M(λ)$ for generic weight $λ$ to the case of general $λ$. We consider the relationship between the Shapovalov form on an irreducible highest weight module of a semisimple complex Lie algebra, fusion elements, and equivariant quantization. We also discuss some limiting properties of fusion elements. [KMST] E. Karolinsky and A. Stolin, Dynamical Yang-Baxter equations, quasi-Poisson homogeneous spaces, and quantization, Lett. Math. The GL(m|n) type quantum matrix algebras II: the structure of the characteristic subalgebra and its spectral parameterization

In our previous paper math.QA/0412192 the Cayley-Hamilton identity for the GL(m|n) type quantum matrix algebra was obtained. Here we continue investigation of that identity. We derive it in three alternative forms and, most importantly, we obtain it in a factorized form. The factorization leads to a separation of the spectra of the quantum supermatrix into the "even" and "odd" parts. The latter, in turn, allows us to parameterize the characteristic subalgebra (which can also be called the subalgebra of spectral invariants) in terms of the supersymmetric polynomials in the eigenvalues of the quantum supermatrix. For our derivation we use two auxiliary results which may be of independent interest. First, we calculate the multiplication rule for the linear basis of the Schur functions $s_λ(M)$ for the characteristic subalgebra of the Hecke type quantum matrix algebra. The structure constants in this basis are the Littlewood-Richardson coefficients. Second, we derive a series of bilinear relations in the graded ring $Λ$ of Schur symmetric functions in countably many variables.

The Gromov-Witten potential associated to a TCFT

This is the sequel to my preprint "TCFTs and Calabi-Yau categories", math.QA/0412149. Here we extend the results of that paper to construct, for certain Calabi-Yau A-infinity categories, something playing the role of the Gromov-Witten potential. This is a state in the Fock space associated to periodic cyclic homology, which is a symplectic vector space. Applying this to a suitable A-infinity version of the derived category of sheaves on a Calabi-Yau yields the B model potential, at all genera. The construction doesn't go via the Deligne-Mumford spaces, but instead uses the Batalin-Vilkovisky algebra constructed from the uncompactified moduli spaces of curves by Sen and Zwiebach. The fundamental class of Deligne-Mumford space is replaced here by a certain solution of the quantum master equation, essentially the "string vertices" of Zwiebach. On the field theory side, the BV operator has an interpretation as the quantised differential on the Fock space for periodic cyclic chains. Passing to homology, something satisfying the master equation yields an element of the Fock space.

Generalized Jones traces and Kazhdan--Lusztig bases

We develop some applications of certain algebraic and combinatorial conditions on the elements of Coxeter groups, such as elementary proofs of the positivity of certain structure constants for the associated Kazhdan--Lusztig basis. We also explore some consequences of the existence of a Jones-type trace on the Hecke algebra of a Coxeter group, such as simple procedures for computing leading terms of certain Kazhdan--Lusztig polynomials. The sequel to this paper is math.QA/0509363.
