PCAsplat: Gaussian Splatting with Local PCA Regularization

Abstract

Gaussian splatting has emerged as a flexible representation for 3D reconstruction from posed images. However, existing methods are optimized primarily using rasterization-based losses, which supervise a splat only when it contributes to sampled camera rays. Gaussians that are occluded or contribute little to the sampled view therefore receive weak or no geometric gradients and may drift away from the underlying surface, producing undesired floaters. We introduce PCAsplat, a geometry-aware regularization framework for Gaussian splatting based on differentiable local principal component analysis (PCA). Our PCA regularizer acts directly on neighborhoods of Gaussian centers and can therefore update Gaussians that do not contribute to the current training view. We regularize the PCA eigenvalues to encourage Gaussians to move to the underlying surface with isotropic tangent-plane coverage. We also align each Gaussian normal with the PCA-estimated neighborhood normal to enforce consistent orientation. Experiments on DTU, Tanks and Temples, and NeRF Synthetic show that the splats produced by PCAsplat better approximate samples of the reference surface while substantially reducing undesired floaters. These surface-aligned splats enable downstream geometry-processing tasks, including point cloud segmentation, and direct Poisson reconstruction. Additionally, PCAsplat remains competitive under conventional novel view synthesis and mesh extraction tasks. Code will be released.

Linear Multi-granular Body Modeling for Text-Driven Motion Generation

Text-to-motion generation is a rapidly growing field at the nexus of multimodal learning and computer graphics, enabling flexible and cost-effective applications in gaming, animation, robotics, and virtual reality. Existing part-aware pipelines typically split the body into segments and then recover whole-body coordination via attention-based fusion, which incurs quadratic complexity and fails to model part-level and whole-body cues simultaneously. Moreover, we observe that naively stacking spatial and temporal modules accumulates redundant features, thereby requiring deeper networks to achieve competitive fidelity. To address these issues, we propose HiSTF Mamba, a linear-time framework composed of Dual-Spatial Mamba, Bi-Temporal Mamba, and the Dynamic Spatiotemporal Fusion Module (DSFM). Dual-Spatial Mamba performs parallel part-based and whole-based modeling to simultaneously capture local joint dynamics and global coordination. Bi-Temporal Mamba employs bidirectional scanning to encode both short-term motion details and long-term dependencies. DSFM further removes redundancy and extracts complementary temporal information before fusing it with spatial features, yielding an expressive spatiotemporal representation. Extensive experiments on HumanML3D and KIT-ML demonstrate that HiSTF Mamba improves generation fidelity and semantic alignment while requiring substantially fewer parameters than existing segment-based architectures.

WorldGenBench: A World-Knowledge-Integrated Benchmark for Reasoning-Driven Text-to-Image Generation

Recent text-to-image (T2I) models achieve high visual fidelity and accurate explicit grounding from input prompts. However, image generation is fundamentally a process of semantic expansion. Beyond surface-level descriptions, generating authentic visual content requires supplementing prompts with unstated cues, a crucial step that current models frequently overlook. In response, we introduce WorldGenBench, a benchmark designed to evaluate how well T2I systems integrate factual grounding with contextual inference. Unlike prior work that isolates these abilities, WorldGenBench emphasizes their synergy, recognizing that true understanding requires both knowing and reasoning. To enable interpretable evaluation, we propose the Knowledge Checklist Score, which assesses whether generated images faithfully reflect key explicit and implicit semantic elements. Evaluating 24 models reveals persistent gaps: proprietary models like GPT-4o show strong integration, while most open-source systems lag, particularly in culturally diverse and scientific scenarios. Our analysis further identifies common failure modes, including semantic hallucination and the underrepresentation of non-Western knowledge, underscoring the limitations of current models in achieving real-world readiness. These findings highlight the need to guide future T2I models toward deeper, knowledge-aware generation. FedHUG: Federated Heterogeneous Unsupervised Generalization for Remote Physiological Measurements

Remote physiological measurement gained wide attention, while it requires collecting users' privacy-sensitive information, and existing contactless measurements still rely on labeled client data. This presents challenges when we want to further update real-world deployed models with numerous user data lacking labels. To resolve these challenges, we instantiate a new protocol called Federated Unsupervised Domain Generalization (FUDG) in this work. Subsequently, the \textbf{Fed}erated \textbf{H}eterogeneous \textbf{U}nsupervised \textbf{G}eneralization (\textbf{FedHUG}) framework is proposed and consists of: (1) Minimal Bias Aggregation module dynamically adjusts aggregation weights based on prior-driven bias evaluation to cope with heterogeneous non-IID features from multiple domains. (2) The Global Distribution-aware Learning Controller parameterizes the label distribution and dynamically manipulates client-specific training strategies, thereby mitigating the server-client label distribution skew and long-tail issue. The proposal shows superior performance across state-of-the-art techniques in estimation with either RGB video or mmWave radar. The code will be released.
