NEST: Stale-Robust Tokenized-Stock Measurement for a Crypto-Treasury LETF Stack

Abstract

Tokenized equities trade while listed markets are closed, so their marks could improve off-hours measurement along layered exposures that link Bitcoin, crypto-treasury stocks, and leveraged ETFs. A token return and the next opening gap, however, share the price move from the previous close to the token mark, so part of their apparent fit is mechanical. We develop NEST, a stale-robust protocol that separates this shared-history fit from conditional measurement value. A shared-history identity and a variance-clock bound show how much fit timing alone can generate. The partial determination index (PDI), the squared partial correlation between token and gap given public controls, measures what remains, and a finite-sample frontier expresses the partial-F decision in PDI units. Product, provenance, timestamp, and execution audits decide whether an informative mark is admissible. For MSTRx, a tracker certificate on MicroStrategy (MSTR), a token-only $R^2$ of 0.916 shrinks to a modest increment once Bitcoin, mark age, and a pre-09:00 MSTR premarket proxy are controlled: the token explains 15.7% of the remaining gap variation (1% frontier 0.031), and 14.0% to 17.0% under stricter clock variants, including one in which every token mark precedes 09:00. A trade-level reconstruction on Gate gives 25.2%; NVDAX and AAPLX clear their frontiers, whereas TSLAX does not. An admitted mark updates, rather than replaces, BTC-unit exposure diagnostics for the BTC-MSTR-LETF chain.

Beyond Anonymous Order Flow: Wallet Identity as a Feature for Short-Horizon Return Prediction

Conventional public order-book data summarize trading without identifying the accounts behind it. Hyperliquid's Level-4 record also exposes persistent pseudonymous wallet addresses. We reconstruct full-depth books from consensus-ordered messages and evaluate wallet identity as a feature for short-horizon return prediction. The July 1-27, 2026 record covers 17.1 billion messages, 14.3 million aggressive orders by 147,113 wallets, and $84.3 billion in taker notional across ten markets. In the three model markets, notional-weighted ten-second markout rankings persist across adjacent ten-day windows (Spearman rho = 0.52); covariate-adjusted validation markouts reach 3.11 basis points in the top ventile. On a 100-millisecond grid, eleven features describing previously scored top-decile wallets raise one-second out-of-sample R2 from 10.88% to 12.

AIDA: An AI Outage Registry with Evidence from On-Chain MEV

Generative AI coding tools have lowered the cost of writing trading software, but no systematic dataset records when these services fail. We introduce the AI Incident and Disruption Archive (AIDA), a multi-vendor registry of 5,868 deduplicated outage incidents across 30 providers from 2025 to 2026, with foundation-model incidents verified against primary status-page or postmortem URLs. Pairing AIDA with 5,041,034 verified maximal extractable value (MEV) transactions by 8,516 Ethereum addresses, their contract creations, and a 22-month Base Layer-2 panel of 1,099,593,191 swaps and 29,120 private executors, we establish two findings. First, entry into MEV expanded where code and public state suffice, as active arbitrage addresses quadrupled from late 2024 to late 2026 and liquidators grew by a third, while sandwich attackers, who need private order flow and builder access, declined. Execution nonetheless remained concentrated, with the top fifty addresses executing two thirds of verified trades. Second, AI outages stall new trading code while deployed bots keep trading. On Ethereum, addresses releasing a private executor fall to 0.67 on the day of an eight-hour disruption (0.68 for executor creations during OpenAI outage hours) and to 0.66 at lag two before rebounding on day three; on Base, operator top-level creations fall to 0.76 during OpenAI hours and executor-deploying operators to 0.88 at lag two. Non-trading creations, automated factory clones, and live arbitrage and sandwich execution across both chains remain unchanged. Cheaper code thus lowers the barrier to building MEV contracts, while private order flow, latency and capital still determine who wins execution.

Tracking High-Frequency Trading Activity in China and Its Effects on Market Quality

We develop a new order-level proxy for high-frequency trading (HFT) activity based on precise order placement and study its effects on market quality. With quotes updating multiple times per second, millisecond-level order-book access makes high-frequency traders more likely to submit active exact-match orders, defined as limit orders priced exactly at the prevailing best opposite-side quote. Using Shenzhen Stock Exchange data, we validate the proxy: active exact-match orders respond faster to quote updates, cancel more rapidly, concentrate when depth imbalance is favorable and spreads are narrow, and predict mid-quote returns from 100 milliseconds through ten minutes. A difference-in-differences design exploiting cross-channel variation in order dissemination latency at the market open shows that lower latency increases active exact-match shares. This variation yields plausibly causal evidence that latency-induced HFT raises short-horizon price variation, wide-spread incidence, and adverse-selection exposure, while realized spreads decline and pricing error falls modestly. Unlike developed markets, China's T+1 constraint, absence of maker-taker rebates, and limits on rapid quote revision tilt speed advantages toward directional liquidity taking, highlighting how market design shapes the channel through which speed affects market quality.
