Moser Regularization of the CR3BP for Symmetric Orbits: Bifurcation Networks of Lunar Orbits

Abstract

We develop a computational framework based on Moser regularization for the analysis of symmetric periodic orbits in the spatial Circular Restricted Three-Body Problem (CR3BP). The formulation enables the numerical continuation of periodic orbit families through collision with either primary, together with the computation of Floquet multipliers and stability indices entirely in regularized coordinates. We further provide a characterization and numerical detection scheme for symmetric periodic collision orbits. We apply this framework to the Earth-Moon CR3BP and uncover bifurcation networks connecting several classical lunar periodic orbit families. Higher-period vertical bifurcations of the planar $L_1$ Lyapunov family generate spatial bridges reconnecting different regions of the same family across its collision with the Earth, while corresponding bifurcations of the $L_2$ Lyapunov family form bridges to planar families associated with retrograde comet orbits. Furthermore, period-multiplying bifurcations of Near-Rectilinear Halo Orbit (NRHO) families produce a systematic network connecting to planar prograde and retrograde families. These bifurcation connections in the near-Moon dynamics retain the characteristic organization by covering multiplicities of the corresponding bifurcation network in the limiting Hill problem. Conley-Zehnder indices and related symplectic invariants complement the numerical continuation and provide a topological organization of the results.

Geometric Methods for Stochastic Dynamical Systems: A Concise Introduction

There is growing interest in stochastic dynamics in the applied mathematics, interdis-ciplinary science, and artificial intelligence communities. This book is written primarilyfor applied mathematicians and scientists who may not have the necessary backgroundto go directly to advanced reference books or research literature in geometric methodsfor stochastic dynamics. Our goal is to present a few selected geometric methods for understanding solutionsof stochastic differential equations. Some necessary background is reviewed, while moreadvanced materials are referred to relevant literature. It is our hope that this book willprovide a guide to the reader in accessing advanced monographs and research literaturein stochastic dynamics. We have tried to strike a balance between mathematical precisionand accessibility for the readers of this book. For example, some proofs are presented, whereas some are outlined and others are directed to references. Some definitions arepresented in separate paragraphs starting with Definition, but others are introduced lessformally as they occur in the body of the text. This book may be used as a textbook or a reference for advanced doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, researchers and practitioners in applied mathematics, machinelearning, artificial intelligence, engineering and applied science.

Reciprocal Dynamics in Polynomial Congruence Jumping: Integral Orbits and Valuation Cones

Alternating reciprocal transformations of polynomial divisibility systems couple an orbit of integer points to a rational dynamical system on polynomial coefficients. For fixed positive degrees $n,m$, we prove universal four-step return to rational gauge classes. Weighted primitive representatives preserve integral continuation through nondegenerate jumps using only exact division and coefficient gcds; the stronger requirement of monic integral representatives is governed by endpoint $p$-adic valuation defects. After one integral block, constant-term valuations evolve by an explicit unimodular matrix whose trace depends only on $nm$. This gives finite-order behavior for $nm<4$, parabolic dilations for $nm=4$, and hyperbolic dynamics for $nm>4$. In the hyperbolic case, invariant thresholds, irrational eigencones, and discrete valley formulas give finite criteria for forward and bi-infinite integral coefficient orbits, although failure can be delayed arbitrarily long. Every positive-constant canonical monic coefficient chain admits an explicit positive rational four-phase gauge. At $nm=4$, geometric gauges reduce nondegenerate compatible rational point orbits to two-periodic affine recurrences, hence to sequences satisfying linear recurrences with constant coefficients. Polynomial identities of degree at most $h$ on each invariant conic admit certificates from $2h+1$ initial phase states, while integral unimodular recurrence models yield periodic modular obstructions. For $nm>4$, eventually positive normalized point orbits tending to infinity have hyperbolic logarithmic growth and cannot satisfy such linear recurrences. Finally, separated auxiliary-relation transport reduces rational rank to at most one after two alternating jumps; quadratic specialization gives exact local saturation criteria and persistence results across periodic, parabolic, and hyperbolic orbits.

A coupling normal form for reversible center-center Hamiltonians with application to the restricted three-body problem

Near a reversible center-center equilibrium, the Birkhoff normal form does not describe the families bifurcating from the continued tori, which resonant normal forms capture through a reduced system. With a reflection symmetry, we develop a coupling normal form in which the bifurcating families also appear as tori of action normal forms. Along a selected coupling direction, the first harmonic in the angle difference is absorbed into an action-dependent counterterm. We prove that the coupled recursion determines unique counterterm coefficients, a formal action normal form, and an exact counterterm factorization. The factorization gives a recovery constraint, whose trivial factor corresponds to the Birkhoff normal form. At every finite order, a symmetric pair of bifurcating branches leaves the trivial branch at a critical curve, carrying approximately invariant tori and circles with residual estimates. In the spatial circular restricted three-body problem, these give approximate halo orbits and quasi-halo tori.
