On the stability of displacement energy in toric manifolds

Abstract

We present a quantitative exploration of the behaviour of displacement energy of Lagrangians under stabilization. In particular, we completely characterize the displacement behaviour of toric fibres in Fano 4-manifolds. Our approach relates the geometry of the moment polytope's caustic to the structure of the (bulk-deformed) superpotential and to the presence of symmetric probes.

On the Maslov-type index for general paths of symplectic matrices

In this article, we define an index of Maslov type for general symplectic paths which have two arbitrary end points. This Maslov-type index is a partial generalization of the Conley-Zehnder-Long index in the sense that the degenerate set of symplectic matrices is larger. The method of constructing the index is direct without taking advantage of Maslov index of Lagrangian paths and consistent no matter whether the starting point of the path is identity or not, which is different from the ones for Long's Maslov-type index and Liu's $L_0$-index. Some natural properties for the index are verified. We review other versions of Maslov indices and compare them with our definition. In particular, this Maslov-type index can be regarded as a partial realization of Cappell-Lee-Miller index for a pair of Lagrangian paths from the point of view of index for symplectic paths.

Quantization in polarization via transverse Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt theorem

We construct, for every prequantizable symplectic manifold $(M,ω,L)$ equipped with a nonsingular polarization, a deformation quantization $(C_M^\infty[[\hbar]],\star)$ together with a filtered sheaf of subalgebras $C_{M,\hbar}^{(<\infty)}$ that admits an exact action on polarized sections of $L^{\otimes k}$ for each $k\in\mathbb Z^+$. This extends the Kostant--Souriau action of polarization-preserving functions. The main geometric ingredient is a transverse PBW theory associated with a Nirenberg integrable distribution $P$. For any locally free $P$-modules $E$ and $E'$, we construct a PBW isomorphism for the bundle of transverse differential operators from $E$ to $E'$. This extends the PBW theorem for Lie pairs of Laurent-Gengoux--Stiénon--Xu to the setting of $P$-modules. After specializing $\hbar= \tfrac{\sqrt{-1}}{k}$, we obtain a sheaf $O_k^{(<\infty)}$ of level-$k$ quantizable functions and prove that its action identifies $O_k^{(<\infty)}$ with the sheaf of transverse differential operators on $L^{\otimes k}$. In the Kähler case, this recovers the construction of Chan--Leung--Li. Finally, for standard symplectic tori with real polarizations, we compare our construction with Toeplitz-type operators and obtain their semiclassical asymptotic expansions.

A new look at unitarity in quantization commutes with reduction for toric manifolds

For a symplectic manifold $M$ with the Hamiltonian action of a compact Lie group $G$, we give a new perspective on the problem of unitarity in the quantization commutes with reduction correspondence. We argue that this correspondence leads naturally to the introduction of what we call Fourier polarizations, whose real directions include the Hamiltonian vector fields of all invariant functions of the moment map. For a Fourier polarization, quantization commutes with reduction unitarily. For a general $G$-invariant polarization, $\mathcal{P}$, unitarity in the quantization commutes with reduction correspondence can then be formulated in terms of the existence of a Fourier polarization, $\mathcal{P}_F$, such that the quantizations with respect to $\mathcal{P}$ and to $\mathcal{P}_F$ are unitarily equivalent. We describe this perspective in detail for symplectic toric manifolds, by considering symplectic reductions associated to the action of a subtorus $T^p\subset T^n$. We consider half-form quantization in Fourier (mixed) polarizations $\mathcal{P}_\infty$, whose real directions are generated by(the Hamiltonian vector fields of the)components of the $T^p$ moment map. We show that Fourier mixed polarizations of this type can be obtained by Mabuchi geodesic rays of toric Kähler structures, starting at a given initial structure and with velocity given by the norm square of the moment map of the torus subgroup. We lift these geodesic rays to the quantum bundle via generalized coherent state transforms, which define equivariant isomorphisms between quantum Hilbert spaces for the Kähler and Fourier polarizations, where the later are obtained at infinite geodesic time. Unitarity in quantization commutes with reduction in these cases then becomes equivalent to the unitarity of these isomorphisms. In general, however, in the toric case, these isomorphisms are not unitary.
