Effective stability and sharp logarithmic time scales for Hamiltonian PDEs on the circle

Abstract

We prove effective stability and matching logarithmic upper bounds for small solutions of Hamiltonian PDEs on the one-dimensional torus. An analytic coefficient-majorant calculus and an explicit normal-form iteration yield stability times with logarithms of order $L^{1+1/p}/(\log L)^{1/p}$ for Gevrey weights and $L^{1+(q-1)/(pq+1)}$ for logarithmic ultra-differentiable weights, where $L=\log(1/\varepsilon)$ and $p\geq1$ measures the order dependence of the small divisors. Even frequencies are organized into the exact blocks $\{n,-n\}$; elementary frequency gaps and constant weights on these blocks close the energy estimate. We verify the hypotheses for convolution NLS, fractional NLS with every fixed noninteger exponent $η>1/2$, and a beam equation with a metric parameter and a variational gradient nonlinearity. Two fixed analytic nonlocal Hamiltonian PDEs admit finite-support solutions whose first prescribed norm amplification occurs on the same logarithmic scales along sequences $\varepsilon_n\to0$. The common lower theorem applies to every sufficiently small datum of each admissible equation. Its combination with these examples establishes sharpness of both regularity-dependent scales under the same analytic and arithmetic hypotheses.

Global well-posedness and asymptotic behavior of large strong solutions to the 3D full compressible Navier-Stokes equations with temperature-dependent coefficients

It is well known that the global well-posedness of the Navier-Stokes equations with temperature-dependent coefficients is a challenging problem, especially in multi-dimensional space. In this paper, we study the 3D Navier-Stokes equations with temperature-dependent coefficients in the whole space. When the initial density and the initial temperature are linearly equivalent to some large constant states, we establish the first result on the global existence of large strong solution. Moreover, the optimal decay rates of the solution to its associated equilibrium are established when the initial data belong to $L^{p_0}(\mathbb{R}^3)$ for some $p_0\in[1,2]$.

Critical $p$-Laplace equations with monotone coefficients: Liouville classification and a Schoen-type Harnack inequality

We investigate positive weak solutions of the critical $p$-Laplace equation $$ -Δ_p u = u^{p^*-1} h(u), \qquad 1 < p < n, $$ where $h$ is a positive, bounded, continuous, and nonincreasing function. Our first main result is a complete classification of normalized, bounded, positive entire solutions for every equation in a compact family determined by $h$: Any such solution must coincide with an Aubin--Talenti profile. Moreover, the existence of an Aubin--Talenti profile as a solution implies that $h$ is constant on the entire interval of values attained by that profile. Subsequently, applying this classification result, we establish the following scale-invariant Schoen-type estimate $$ \left(\sup_{B_R} u\right)\left(\inf_{B_{2R}} u\right)^{p-1} \le C R^{p-n} $$ for nonnegative weak solutions defined in $B_{3R}$. As a direct corollary, we apply the profound result of Ciraolo--Gatti \cite{CG2026} to obtain a fully unrestricted Liouville theorem: Every positive entire solution must coincide with an Aubin--Talenti profile. For the purely critical equation, we also show that the corresponding Liouville classification is equivalent to a Schoen-type Harnack inequality. The arguments in this work give quasilinear versions of the Kelvin transform and the method of moving spheres, which was previously available only in the semilinear setting, and also yield alternative proofs of the classical results. The technique developed here can likely be extended to a wider class of Liouville-type problems for critical equations.

Local Well-Posedness of the Unsteady Boundary Layer System for Dilatant Power-Law Fluids

We establish local-in-time existence and uniqueness of monotone classical solutions to the two-dimensional nonstationary boundary layer equations for dilatant power-law fluids in a periodic half-space, for every fixed exponent $n>1$. The result holds under Oleinik's monotonicity condition and suitable weighted Sobolev, algebraic decay, and compatibility assumptions. The main difficulties are the tangential derivative loss caused by the normal velocity and the degeneracy at infinity of the principal coefficient $nω^{n-1}$ in the nonlinear vorticity diffusion $\partial_y^2(ω^n)$, where $ω=\partial_y u$. We adapt the Masmoudi-Wong energy method and use a good unknown to control the tangential derivative loss. For the nonlinear diffusion, we separate the estimates near the boundary from the treatment of degeneracy in the far field. Nonlinear boundary reduction and localized trace estimates control the boundary terms, while weighted estimates exploit the compensating decay of vorticity derivatives to control the diffusion commutators. Together with tangential regularization and weighted maximum and minimum principles, these estimates yield bounds uniform in the regularization parameter and preserve weighted monotonicity. Under these assumptions, the result provides an affirmative local-in-time answer to the existence and uniqueness question in Open Problem~11 of Oleinik and Samokhin.
