Property (R) with its stability for analytic functional system and under compact perturbations

Abstract

Let $\mathcal{F}_T$ be the analytic functional system generated by a linear bounded operator $T$ on an infinite dimensional complex Hilbert space. This paper characterizes the stability of property (R), a variant of Weyl's theorem, for $\mathcal{F}_T$ and under compact perturbations in terms of the spectrum on consistency in Weyl. In particular, the stability of property (R) under compact perturbations is shown to imply the (R)-stability of $\mathcal{F}_T$.

Rayleigh's conjecture for vibrating plates: simpler planar proof and nonlinear extensions

We give a simpler proof of Nadirashvili's theorem (Rayleigh's conjecture) that among vibrating clamped plates of prescribed area in the plane, the disk has the lowest fundamental tone. The proof uses a one-shot Talenti type comparison for sign-changing solutions of the Poisson equation with mean-zero data, established in a companion paper. The comparison considers just two rearranged sources, rather than optimizing over all admissible sources as in the traditional two-ball technique. This ``paired comparison'' simplification yields immediate nonlinear extensions: the disk minimizes the clamped quotient $\|Δu\|_q/\|u\|_p$ among bounded open sets of prescribed area, for every $1\le p,q\le\infty$. Equality is characterized for $q>1$, while exceptional behavior at $q=1$ is identified. In higher dimensions, we prove ball minimality for $p=\infty$ and conjecture minimality for all $p,q$ within the compact embedding range. We also establish the corresponding interval inequality in one dimension.

Lower bounds for self-adjoint Sturm-Liouville operators

In this note we provide estimates for the lower bound of the self-adjoint operator associated with the three-coefficient Sturm-Liouville differential expression $$ \frac{1}{r} \left(-\frac{\mathrm d}{\mathrm dx} p \frac{\mathrm d}{\mathrm dx} + q\right) $$ in the weighted $L^2$-Hilbert space $L^2(\mathbb R; rdx)$.

On the Genericity of the Spectrum Intervalization for Multi-Frequency Quasiperiodic Schrödinger Operators

This paper proves a genericity conjecture by Goldstein, Schlag, and Voda[Invent. Math.\textbf{217}(2019)] for multi-frequency quasiperiodic Schrödinger operators. Specifically, we show that for almost all coefficients of real trigonometric polynomial potentials, the spectrum forms a single interval under strong coupling conditions. This confirms a long-standing intuition by Chulaevky and Sinai[Comm.Math.Phys.\textbf{125}(1989)] that the spectrum typically intervals for generic potentials, and extends the existence results of Goldstein et al. to a full measure setting. Our proof relies on tools from differential topology, measure theory, and analytic function theory.
