Generalized supremum convolutions on the tensor product of unit intervals: t-conorms and triangle functions

Abstract

The complete-lattice tensor product $\mathbb{E}=[0,1]\otimes[0,1]$ arises naturally in the algebra of truth values for type-2 fuzzy sets. For a monotone surjective map $S$ that is continuous on $[0,1[^2$ and a monotone map $T$ having $1$ as identity, we consider the generalized supremum convolution \[ (f\otimes_{_{S,T}}g)(x)=\sup_{S(u,v)=x}T(f(u),g(v)) \] on $\mathbb{E}$. Rather than assuming classical algebraic structures for $S$ and $T$ from the outset, we ask when they are forced by requiring the induced convolution itself to be a t-conorm. We prove that $\otimes_{_{S,T}}$ is a t-conorm on $\mathbb{E}$ if and only if $S$ is a continuous t-conorm and either $S=\max$ or $T$ is a right-continuous t-norm; in the exceptional case $S=\max$, the convolution is simply the pointwise maximum for every admissible $T$. The same convolution mechanism also yields an order-dual description of triangle functions on the space of distance distribution functions $Δ^+$. Using an order-reversing isomorphism between $Δ^+$ and a boundary variant of $\mathbb{E}$, we show that $τ_{_{T^*,L}}$ is a triangle function precisely when $L$ is a continuous t-conorm with no zero divisor and, unless $L=\max$, $T^*$ is a left-continuous t-conorm; moreover, when $L\neq\max$, continuity of $τ_{_{T^*,L}}$ is equivalent to continuity of $T^*$. This resolves the remaining $τ_{_{T^*,L}}$ part of the Schweizer--Sklar problem.

The Collatz Conjecture & Non-Archimedean Spectral Theory -- Part II -- $\left(p,q\right)$-Adic Fourier Analysis and Wiener's Tauberian Theorem

This paper gives an overview of $\left(p,q\right)$-adic Fourier theory - the Fourier theory of functions from the $p$-adic numbers to the $q$-adic numbers, where $p$ and $q$ are distinct primes - which we then use to prove a novel $\left(p,q\right)$-adic generalization of Norbert Wiener's celebrated Tauberian Theorem. Letting $K$ be a metrically complete, algebraically closed local field of residue characteristic $q$, letting $C\left(\mathbb{Z}_{p},K\right)$ be the Banach space of continuous functions $\mathbb{Z}_{p}\rightarrow K$, and letting $dμ$ be a $\left(p,q\right)$-adic measure (a continuous linear functional $C\left(\mathbb{Z}_{p},K\right)\rightarrow K)$, the $\left(p,q\right)$-adic Wiener Tauberian Theorem (WTT) we prove establishes that the density of the span of translates of $dμ$'s Fourier-Stieltjes Transform implies the non-vanishing of the Radon-Nikodym derivative of $dμ$ at all points in $\mathbb{Z}_{p}$ where the derivative exists in $K$.

Indefinite integrals of Bessel and Struve functions with half-integer indices, and incomplete gamma functions with integer indices, all multiplied by $Exp(-ax^{2})$ and divided by powers

Indefinite integrals are found for 63 half-integer Bessel and Struve functions, and incomplete gamma functions with integer indices, each multiplied by $Exp(-ax^{2})$ and divided by powers. A series solution is given for the individual terms (of any inverse power) in such functions, split into even and odd portions. Eight integrals are given involving these series. Three infinite sets of auxiliary integrals are also given.
