A QCD Survey: 0 < Q**2 < 10**5 Gev**2

Abstract

Selected, recent results, primarily from collider experiments but including some fixed target experiments, are presented as a survey of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). The concepts of leading order and next-to-leading order QCD are introduced. Inclusive proton-antiproton jet and dijet production and deep inelastic electron-proton scattering at very large momentum transfer are shown to be in good agreement with perturbative QCD (pQCD). Dijet, three-jet and multi-jet results from proton-antiproton, electron-proton, and electron-electron colliders at moderate Q**2 are also compared to pQCD. BFKL searches from all three colliders are discussed. Recent measurements of structure functions and contributions to the parton distribution functions are presented. New measurements of the strong coupling constant are summarized, the world average is 0.1184 with an uncertainty of 0.0031.

Search for the decays $B_{(s)}^0\to J/ψγ$ at LHCb

A search for the rare decays $B_{(s)}^0\to J/ψγ$ is performed with proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to integrated luminosities of $3~\rm{fb}^{-1}$ at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, and $6~\rm{fb}^{-1}$ at 13 TeV. Assuming no contribution from $B^0\to J/ψγ$ decay, an upper limit is set on the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(B_{s}^0\to J/ψγ)<2.9\times10^{-6}$ at the 90% confidence level. If instead no contribution from $B_{s}^0\to J/ψγ$ decay is assumed, the limit is $\mathcal{B}(B^0\to J/ψγ)<2.5\times10^{-6}$ at the 90% confidence level. These results supersede the previous LHCb results, with the limit for $B_{s}^0\to J/ψγ$ improved by a factor of 2.5.

Atmospheric Neutrino Oscillations: the Full Picture

We present the first combined oscillation analysis of recent atmospheric neutrino datasets, featuring data from Super-Kamiokande, IceCube-DeepCore, and KM3NeT/ORCA together with reactor data from Daya Bay. Such combinations have long been considered infeasible outside experimental collaborations; we demonstrate that a unified physics model can simultaneously describe all datasets with no significant parameter tensions. Fitting 839\,048 events across 1536 ins with 91 parameters, our combined analysis yields competitive measurements of the neutrino mixing parameters, and prefers the Normal over the Inverted Mass Ordering at $3σ$ significance.

Search for charmonium(like) states $X$ in $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowγX\rightarrowγD^{*0}\bar{D}^{*0}$ at BESIII

A search is performed for a state $X$ decaying into $D^{*0}\bar{D}^{*0}$ produced in the process $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowγX$ using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1667.4 $\rm pb^{-1}$ collected at $\sqrt{s} = 4.682$ GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII. The state $X$ could be one of the $C$-even states $X(4013)$, $η_{c}(3S)$, $χ_{c0}(3P)$, $χ_{c1}(3P)$, or $χ_{c2}(3P)$. No significant signal is observed in the corresponding signal region. Upper limits of $σ_{e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowγX}\cdot {\rm Br}_{X\rightarrow D^{*0}\bar{D}^{*0}}$ at 90% confidence level are provided, where $σ_{e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowγX}$ represents the cross section of the $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowγX$ process, and ${\rm Br}_{X\rightarrow D^{*0}\bar{D}^{*0}}$ is the branching fraction of the $X\rightarrow D^{*0}\bar{D}^{*0}$ process.
