Cosmological Tensions with Non-Extensive Entropic Cosmology: A Modified Stress-Energy Approach

We perform a comprehensive cosmographic analysis of Friedmann cosmologies modified by non-extensive entropy frameworks, focusing on Tsallis, Rényi, and Kaniadakis entropies within a novel modified energy-momentum tensor approach. In our approach the microscopic matter density remains $ρ=m~n$ while the horizon thermodynamics of non-extensive entropy modifies the effective source that drives expansion, $ρ_{eff}=f(ρ)ρ$ which reduces to the standard case for $f(ρ)=1$. By deriving the generalized Friedmann equations for each entropy type, we calculate analytical expressions for key cosmographic parameters, including the deceleration ($q_0$), jerk ($j_0$), snap ($s_0$), and lerk ($l_0$) parameters, and examine their behavior compared to the standard $Λ$CDM model. Our results reveal significant differences between the traditional formal approach and the modified energy-momentum approach, particularly in the Tsallis model where cosmographic parameters and the dimensionless Hubble function $E(z)$ show notable deviations for deformation parameters away from unity. Moreover, both Rényi and Kaniadakis models exhibit increasing tension with $Λ$CDM at higher redshifts, while remaining similar at low redshifts. Importantly, given the persistent $\sim5σ$ Hubble tension between local and global measurements, our analysis indicates that the flexibility of the modified entropic cosmology framework to alter the expansion rate could potentially alleviate this discrepancy by modifying the effective expansion history in a way compatible with observations. Future work will involve full Bayesian analyses with Pantheon+, DESI, and Planck data to further assess the viability of these models in resolving current cosmological tensions.

$Λ$CDM Model Against Gravity-Thermodynamics Conjecture: Observational Constraints After DESI 2024

In the context of the gravity-thermodynamics conjecture based on the Tsallis entropy-area relation, we investigate the standard $Λ$CDM cosmology and examine some potential deviations from it. Utilizing recent updates from geometrical datasets, including the DESI BAO measurements (2024), Planck CMB anisotropy measurements (2018), and the Pantheon+ catalogue for SNIa (2022), we conduct a thorough analysis via the window of Tsallis cosmology. In the first step, our analysis reveals no significant deviation from the standard model when using DESI BAO data alone, Pantheon+ data alone, or a combination of both. In the next step, we incorporate all datasets by adding the CMB data to our analysis, indicating a potential deviation from the standard model within the framework of Tsallis cosmology. Imposing the Planck prior to the sound horizon at the baryon drag epoch, we observe support for the standard model and consistency between our constraints on the Hubble constant and the Planck value. Finally, we compare the Tsallis and $Λ$CDM cosmologies using the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC).

Non-Extensive Entropy and Power-Law Inflation: Implications for Observations

This study explores the interaction between non-extensive entropic FLRW cosmology and the power-law inflationary model, with a focus on the overlap between the scalar spectral index `$n_s$' and the tensor-to-scalar ratio `$r$'. Based on a conjecture that non-extensive entropy alters the energy-momentum content of the cosmic fluid, the analysis examines how these overlaps shift with different model parameters and compares the findings to those from Bekenstein-Hawking (BH) entropic cosmology. The study highlights the impact of Tsallis, Rényi, and Sharma-Mittal entropies, uncovering a significant correlation between `$n_s$' and `$r$' that suggests a deeper connection in power-law inflationary dynamics. The results demonstrate that non-extensive entropies not only enable viable inflation with a graceful exit but also address limitations inherent in the standard BH entropic framework, emphasizing the importance of precise parameter estimation. Specifically, Tsallis entropy allows for power-law inflation with $n = 1$ to $n = 2$ in alignment with Planck 2018 data. Moreover, the $α$ parameter in Rényi and Sharma-Mittal entropy models must be extremely small ($α\leq 10^{-8}$ in Planck mass units) to achieve successful power-law inflation with an e-folding number around 55-65, suggesting a unified thermodynamic perspective in cosmological studies.

Exploring Modifications to FLRW Cosmology with General Entropy and Thermodynamics: A new Approach

The investigation of modifications to the FLRW cosmology resulting from the consideration of a general entropy for the cosmological apparent horizon is the subject of this study. Building upon the work of Nojiri and collaborators in 2022, who introduced a class of generalized entropies with four parameters capable of converging to familiar entropies and addressing specific cosmological issues, our research explores the impact of correcting the entropy on the energy-momentum tensor of the cosmic fluid from the outset. Our calculations demonstrate that, by employing a correction function $f(ρ)$ to modify the energy-momentum density tensor, the entropic area law (Bekenstein-Hawking entropy) can still be regarded as a general entropy. The construction of the function $f(ρ)$ is facilitated through considerations of the thermodynamics associated with the apparent horizon. Additionally, we investigate the first and second laws of thermodynamics within this framework and illustrate how the limitations imposed on the equation of state of the cosmic fluid can be resolved through the incorporation of this correction function. Finally, we compute cosmography parameters to analyze the kinematics of the universe, with particular attention given to the notable influence of the correction function $f(ρ)$ on these parameters. This paper provides valuable insights into the application of general entropies to the apparent horizon of the universe.

Unifying turnaround-bounce cosmology in a cyclic universe considering a running vacuum model

Among many models which can describe the bouncing cosmology, A matter bounce scenario that is deformed by a running vacuum model of dark energy (RVM-DE) has been interested. In this research, I show that a class of RVM-CDM (cold dark matter) model can also describe a cyclical cosmology in which the universe undergoes cycles of expansion to the contraction phase and vice versa. To this end, following our previous work, I consider one of the most successful class of RVM-CDM model in bouncing cosmology, $ρ_x=n_0+n_2 H^2 +n_4 H^4$, in which the power spectral index gets a red tilt and the running of the spectral index may give a negative value by choosing the appropriate value of parameters ($n_0,~n_2,~n_4$), which is consistent with the cosmological observations. It is worthwhile to mention that most matter bounce models do not produce this negative value. However, the main purpose of this article is to investigate the RVM-CDM model in the turnaround phase. Far from the bounce in a phantom expanding universe, the turnaround conditions are investigated before the occurrence of a sudden big rip. By analyzing the Hubble parameter, equation of state parameter, and deceleration parameter around the turnaround, we show that a successful turnaround may occur after an expansion in an \textbf{interacting} case of RVM-CDM by choosing the appropriate value of parameters. A minimum value for the interaction parameter is obtained and also finds any relation between other model parameters. Finally, the effect of each parameter on a turnaround is studied, and we see that the transition time from accelerating to decelerating expansion can occur earlier for larger values of interaction parameters. Also, in several graphs, the effect of the second term in DE density, including $H^2$, is studied, and we see that by increasing its coefficient, $n_2$, the transition point leads to lower values.

D-class of dark energy against $Λ$CDM in Brans-Dicke cosmology

Three general models of dynamical interacting dark energy (D-class) are investigated in the context of Brans-Dicke cosmology. All cosmological quantities such as equation of state parameters, deceleration parameters, Hubble function, and the density ratio are calculated as a function of redshift parameter. The most important part of this paper is fitting of models to the observational data (SNIa+BAO$_A$+$Omh^{2}$). We obtain a table of best fit value of parameters and report $χ_{tot}^2/dof$ and Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) for each model. By these diagnostic tools, we find that some models have no chance against $Λ$CDM and some (e.g. $\mathcal{BD-D}C2$ and $\mathcal{BD-D}A^*$) render the best fit quality. Specially, the value of AIC analysis and figures show that the interacting $\mathcal{BD-D}C2$ model fit perfectly with overall data and reveals a strong evidence in favor of this model, against $Λ$CDM.

Hubble-rate-dependent Dark Energy in Brans-Dicke Cosmology

Three general cases of dynamical interacting dark energy models ($\mathcal{D}$-class) are investigated in the context of Brans-Dicke cosmology. Some of important cosmological quantities are calculated for every cases as a function of redshift parameter. The most important part of this paper deals with fitting models with two different expansion history: (SNIa+BAO$_A$+$Omh^{2}$ and SNIa+BAO$_A$+H(z)) and with two different sets of data for Hubble parameter. This provides a remarkable feature to could analytically see the effects of each analyzes and each data sets on final results. The best fitted values of parameters according to these analyzes and data points, $χ_{tot}^2/dof$, AIC and BIC are reported. By these diagnostic tools we found that some of these models have no chance against $Λ$CDM, even without need to study the structure formation, and could be ruled out. While some (e.g. $\mathcal{BD-D}C2$ and $\mathcal{BD-D}A^*$) render the best fit quality,i.e. the value of AIC and BIC and figures show that they fit perfectly with overall data and reveals a strong evidence in favor of these two models against $Λ$CDM.

Observational Tests of Gauss-Bonnet Like Dark Energy Model

The consistency of some dynamical dark energy models based on Gauss-Bonnet invariant, ${\cal G}$, is studied compared with cosmological observational tests. The investigated models are modified form of Gauss Bonnet dark energy, MGB-DE and two other versions which are interacting MGB and $n_0$MGB. The energy density of proposed models are combinations of powers of the Hubble rate, H, and its time derivative. To inquire the performance of MGB dark energy models, we have used data analyzing methods and numerical solutions, in both background and perturbed levels, based on recent observational data from SNIa, Baryon Acoustic Oscillations (BAO), Hubble parameter, CMB data, and structure formation data surveys. Employing joint data sets and comparing the results to those of LCDM, show that all versions of MGB-DE predicts the expansion history and evolution of structures appropriately as well as $Λ$CDM. If we use pure late universe data set, we see that all models of MGB-DE are successful in recent epoch, and there is not any significant evidence against or in favor of $Λ$CDM, whereas for early universe, statistical results indicate a significantly better agreement for $Λ$CDM as compared to all versions of MGB-DE models.

Running of the Spectral index in Deformed Matter Bounce Scenarios with Hubble-rate-dependent Dark Energy

As a deformed matter bounce scenario with a dark energy component we propose a deformed one with running vacuum model (RVM) in which the dark energy density is written as a power series of $H^2$ and $\dot H$ with a constant equation of state parameter same as the cosmological constant. Our results in analytical and numerical point of views show that in some cases same as LCDM bounce scenario, although the spectral index may achieve a good consistency with observations, a positive value of running of spectral index is obtained which is not compatible with inflationary paradigm where it predicts a small negative value for $α_s$. However, by extending the power series up to $H^4$, $ρ_Λ=n_0+n_2 H^2+n_4 H^4$, and estimating a set of consistent parameters, we obtain the spectral index $n_s$, a small negative value of running $α_s$ and tensor to scalar ratio $r$, which these reval a degeneracy between deformed matter bounce scenario with RVM-DE and inflationary cosmology.

Higgs potential from extended Brans-Dicke theory and the time-evolution of the fundamental constants

Despite the enormous significance of the Higgs potential in the context of the Standard Model of electroweak interactions and in Grand Unified Theories, its ultimate origin is fundamentally unknown and must be introduced by hand in accordance with the underlying gauge symmetry and the requirement of renormalizability. Here we propose a more physical motivation for the structure of the Higgs potential, which we link to gravity, and more specifically to an extended Brans-Dicke (BD) theory containing two interacting scalar fields. One of these fields is coupled to curvature as in the BD formulation, whereas the other is coupled to gravity both derivatively and non-derivatively through the curvature scalar and the Ricci tensor. By requiring that the cosmological solutions of the model are consistent with observations, we show that the effective scalar field potential adopts the Higgs potential form with a mildly time-evolving vacuum expectation value. Such residual vacuum dynamics could be responsible for the possible time variation of the fundamental constants. The approach is in part reminiscent of Bjorken's ideas on the cosmological constant problem.

Gauss Bonnet dark energy Chaplygin Gas Model

The correspondence of the Gauss-Bonnet (GB) and its modification (MGB) models of dark energy with the standard and generalized Chaplygin gas-scalar field models (SCG and GCG) have been studied in a °at universe. The exact solution of potentials and scalar fields, which describe the accelerated expansion of the universe, are reconstructed. According to the evolutionary behavior of the GB and MGB models, the same form of dynamics of scalar field and potential for different SCG and GCG models are derived. By calculating the squared sound speed of the MGB, GB model as well as the SCG, GCG, and investigating the GB-Chaplygin gas from the viewpoint of linear perturbation theory, we find that the best results which is consistent with the observation, may be appeared by considering the MGB-GCG. Also we find out some bounds for parameters.

Best values of parameters for interacting HDE with GO IR-cutoff in Brans-Dicke cosmology

We investigate the interacting holographic dark energy (HDE) with Granda-Oliveros (GO) IR-cutoff in the framework of Brans-Dicke (BD) cosmology. We obtain the equation of state (EoS) parameter of HDE, $w_D$, the effective EoS parameter $w_{\mathrm{eff}}$, the deceleration parameter $q $ and the squared of sound speed $v_s^2$ in a flat FRW universe. We show that at late time the cosmic coincidence problem can be alleviated. Also we show that for non-interacting case, HDE can give a unified dark matter-dark energy profile in BD cosmology, except that it cannot solve the coincidence problem in the future. By studying the equation of state parameter, we see that the phantom divide may be crossed. Using the latest observational data, we calculate the best values of the parameters for interacting HDE in BD framework. Computing the deceleration parameter implies that the transition from deceleration to the acceleration phase occurred for redshift $z\geq 0.5$. Finally, we investigate the sound stability of the model, and find that HDE with GO cutoff in the framework of BD cosmology can lead to a stable DE-dominated universe favored by observations, provided we take $β=0.44$ and $b^2<0.35$. This is in contrast to HDE model in Einstein gravity which does not lead to a stable DE dominated universe.

Statefinder diagnostic of logarithmic entropy corrected holographic dark energy with Granda-Oliveros IR cut-off

In this work, we have studied the logarithmic entropy corrected holographic dark energy (LECHDE) model with Granda-Oliveros (G-O) IR cutoff. The evolution of dark energy (DE) density $Ω'_D$, the deceleration parameter, $q$, and equation of state parameter (EoS), $ω_Λ$, are calculated. We show that the phantom divide may be crossed by choosing proper model parameters, even in absence of any interaction between dark energy and dark matter. By studying the statefinder diagnostic and $ω_Λ-ω_Λ^{\prime}$ analysis, the pair parameters $\{r,s\}$ and $(ω_Λ-ω_Λ^{\prime})$ is calculated for flat GO-LECHDE universe. At present time, the pair $\{r,s\}$ can mimic the $Λ$CDM scenario for a value of $α/β\simeq 0.87$, which is lower than the corresponding one for observational data ($α/β=1.76$) and for Ricci scale ($α/β=2$). We find that at present, by taking the various values of ($α/β$), the different points in $r-s$ and $(ω_Λ-ω_Λ^{\prime})$ plans are given. Moreover, in the limiting case for a flat dark dominated universe at infinity ($t\rightarrow \infty$), we calculate $\{r,s\}$ at G-O scale. For Ricci scale ($α= 2$, $β= 1$) we obtain $\{r=0,s=2/3\}$.

Reconstruction of modified gravity with ghost dark energy models

In this work, we reconstruct the $f(R)$ modified gravity for different ghost and generalized ghost dark energy models in FRW flat universe, which describe the accelerated expansion of the universe. The equation of state of reconstructed $f(R)$ - gravity has been calculated. We show that the corresponding $f(R)$ gravity of ghost dark energy model can behave like phantom or quintessence. We also show that the equation of state of reconstructed $f(R)$ gravity for generalized ghost model can transit from quintessence regime to the phantom regime as indicated by recent observations.

Statefinder diagnostic and $w-w^{\prime}$ analysis for interacting polytropic gas dark energy model

The interacting polytropic gas dark energy model is investigated from the viewpoint of statefinder diagnostic tool and $w-w^{\prime}$ analysis. The dependency of the statefinder parameters on the parameter of the model as well as the interaction parameter between dark matter and dark energy is calculated. We show that different values of the parameters of model and different values of interaction parameter result different evolutionary trajectories in $s-r$ and $w-w^{\prime}$ planes. The polytropic gas model of dark energy mimics the standard $Λ$CDM model at the early time.

Interacting Ricci Dark Energy with Logarithmic Correction

Motivated by the holographic principle, it has been suggested that the dark energy density may be inversely proportional to the area $A$ of the event horizon of the universe. However, such a model would have a causality problem. In this work, we consider the entropy-corrected version of the holographic dark energy model in the non-flat FRW universe and we propose to replace the future event horizon area with the inverse of the Ricci scalar curvature. We obtain the equation of state (EoS) parameter $ω_Λ$, the deceleration parameter $q$ and $Ω_D'$ in the presence of interaction between Dark Energy (DE) and Dark Matter (DM). Moreover, we reconstruct the potential and the dynamics of the tachyon, K-essence, dilaton and quintessence scalar field models according to the evolutionary behavior of the interacting entropy-corrected holographic dark energy model.

Statefinder diagnosis and the interacting ghost model of dark energy

A new model of dark energy namely "ghost dark energy model" has recently been suggested to interpret the positive acceleration of cosmic expansion. The energy density of ghost dark energy is proportional to the hubble parameter. In this paper we perform the statefinder diagnostic tool for this model both in flat and non-flat universe. We discuss the dependency of the evolutionary trajectories in $s-r$ and $q-r$ planes on the interaction parameter between dark matter and dark energy as well as the spatial curvature parameter of the universe. Eventually, in the light of SNe+BAO+OHD+CMB observational data, we plot the evolutionary trajectories in $s-r$ and $q-r$ planes for the best fit values of the cosmological parameters and compare the interacting ghost model with other dynamical dark energy models. We show that the evolutionary trajectory of ghost dark energy in statefinder diagram is similar to holographic dark energy model. It has been shown that the statefinder location of $Λ$CDM is in good agreement with observation and therefore the dark energy models whose current statefinder values are far from the $Λ$CDM point can be ruled out.

Interacting entropy-corrected holographic dark energy with apparent horizon as an infrared cutoff

In this work we consider the entropy-corrected version of interacting holographic dark energy (HDE), in the non-flat universe enclosed by apparent horizon. Two corrections of entropy so-called logarithmic 'LEC' and power-law 'PLEC' in HDE model with apparent horizon as an IR-cutoff are studied. The ratio of dark matter to dark energy densities $u$, equation of state parameter $w_D$ and deceleration parameter $q$ are obtained. We show that the cosmic coincidence is satisfied for both interacting models. By studying the effect of interaction in EoS parameter, we see that the phantom divide may be crossed and also find that the interacting models can drive an acceleration expansion at the present and future, while in non-interacting case, this expansion can happen only at the early time. The graphs of deceleration parameter for interacting models, show that the present acceleration expansion is preceded by a sufficiently long period deceleration at past. Moreover, the thermodynamical interpretation of interaction between LECHDE and dark matter is described. We obtain a relation between the interaction term of dark components and thermal fluctuation in a non-flat universe, bounded by the apparent horizon. In limiting case, for ordinary HDE, the relation of interaction term versus thermal fluctuation is also calculated.
