Comment on "Absence of Off-Diagonal Long- Range Order in hcp $^4$He Dislocation Cores"

We contend that the arguments provided in Phys. Rev. Lett. 130, 016001 (2023), purporting to show the absence of off-diagonal long-range order in hcp $^4$He dislocation cores are misleading and incorrect. In particular, the one-body density matrix averaged over the whole crystalline sample provides no useful information on the possible superfluid behavior inside the quasi-one-dimensional core of a dislocation in the crystal.

Quantum phases of hard-core dipolar bosons in coupled 1D optical lattices

Hard-core dipolar bosons trapped in a parallel stack of N>=2 1D optical lattices (tubes) can develop several phases made of composites of particles from different tubes: superfluids, supercounterfluids and insulators as well as mixtures of those. Bosonization analysis shows that these phases are threshold-less with respect to the dipolar interaction, with the key "control knob" being filling factors in each tube, provided the inter-tube tunneling is suppressed. The effective ab-initio quantum Monte Carlo algorithm capturing these phases is introduced and some results are presented.

A Scaling Approach for Interacting Quantum Wires -a Possible Explanation for the 0.7 Anomalous Conductance

We consider a weakly interacting finite wire with short and long range interactions. The long range interactions enhance the $4k_{F}$ scattering and renormalize the wire to a strongly interacting limit. For large screening lengths, the renormalized charge stiffness Luttinger parameter $K_{eff.}$ decreases to $K_{eff.}< {1/2}$, giving rise to a Wigner crystal at T=0 with an anomalous conductance at finite temperatures. For short screening lengths, the renormalized Luttinger parameter $K_{eff.}$ is restricted to ${1/2}\leq K_{eff.}\leq 1$. As a result, at temperatures larger than the magnetic exchange energy we find an interacting metal which for $K_{eff.}\approx {1/2}$ is equivalent to the Hubbard $U\to\infty$ model, with the anomalous conductance $G\approx\frac{e^2}{h}$ .

Superfluid-Superfluid Phase Transitions in Two-Component Bose System

Depending on the Hamiltonian parameters, two-component bosons in an optical lattice can form at least three different superfluid phases in which both components participate in the superflow: a (strongly interacting) mixture of two miscible superfluids (2SF), a paired superfluid vacuum (PSF), and (at a commensurate total filling factor) the super-counter-fluid state (SCF). We study universal properties of the 2SF-PSF and 2SF-SCF quantum phase transitions and show that (i) they can be mapped onto each other, and (ii) their universality class is identical to the (d+1)-dimensional normal-superfluid transition in a single-component liquid. Finite-temperature 2SF-PSF(SCF) transitions and the topological properties of 2SF-PSF(SCF) interfaces are also discussed.

Castaing Instability and Precessing Domains in Confined Alkali Gases

We explore analogy between two-component quantum alkali gases and spin-polarized helium systems. Recent experiments in trapped gases are put into the frame of the existing theory for Castaing instability in transverse channel and formation of homogeneous precessing domains in spin-polarized systems. Analogous effects have already been observed in spin-polarized $% ^{3}He$ and $^{3}He- ^{4}He$ mixtures systems. The threshold effect of the confining potential on the instability is analyzed. New experimental possibilities for observation of transverse instability in a trap are discussed.

Comment on stability of atoms and nuclei in multidimensional TeV scale gravity

We discuss the stability of atoms and nucleons in the presence of multidimensional gravity characterized by the unified energy scale 1TeV. We point out that the multidimensional gravitational attraction can create additional bound states deep inside of atomic and nucleon constituents. These states would be characterized by sizes comparable to the TeV scale distance. We show that shallow gravity induced bound states between an electron and a quark are ruled out, because collapse processes in atoms to such bound states would occur on time scales which are in contradiction to current data on the stability of ordinary matter. The gravitational attraction may also produce diquark states, which should be considered in addition to those discussed in the literature. The estimates indicate that, for TeV scale gravity, the problem of UV divergencies and UV renormalization is crucial. Some universal renormalization mechanism should exist, which stabilizes atoms in the presence of multidimensional gravity.

Echo in Optical Lattices: Stimulated Revival of Breathing Oscillations

We analyze a stimulated revival (echo) effect for the breathing modes of the atomic oscillations in optical lattices. The effect arises from the dephasing due to the weak anharmonicity being partly reversed in time by means of additional parametric excitation of the optical lattice. The shape of the echo response is obtained by numerically simulating the equation of motion for the atoms with subsequent averaging over the thermal initial conditions. A qualitative analysis of the phenomenon shows that the suggested echo mechanism combines the features of both spin and phonon echoes.
