Einstein energy-momentum complex for a phantom black hole metric

In this paper we calculate the energy distribution E(r) associated with a static spherically symmetric non-singular phantom black hole metric in Einstein's prescription in general relativity. As required for Einstein energy-momentum complex, we perform calculations in quasi-Cartesian coordinates. We also calculate momentum components and get zero values as expected from the geometry of the metric.

Separable solutions of force-free spheres and applications to solar active regions

In this paper, we present a systematic study of the force-free field equation for simple axisymmetric configurations in spherical geometry and apply it to the solar active regions. The condition of separability of solutions in the radial and angular variables leads to two classes of solutions: linear and nonlinear force-free fields. We have studied these linear solutions and extended the nonlinear solutions for the radial power law index to the irreducible rational form $n= p/q$, which is allowed for all cases of odd $p$ and cases of $q>p$ for even $p$, where the poloidal flux $ψ\propto1/r^n$ and field $\mathbf{B}\propto 1/r^{n+2}$). We apply these solutions to simulate photospheric vector magnetograms obtained using the spectropolarimeter on board Hinode. The effectiveness of our search strategy is first demonstrated on test inputs of dipolar, axisymmetric, and non axisymmetric linear force-free fields. Using the best-fit to these magnetograms, we build three-dimensional axisymmetric field configurations and calculate the energy and relative helicity with two independent methods, which are in agreement. We have analyzed five magnetograms for AR 10930 spanning a period of three days during which two X-class flares occurred which allowed us to find the free energy and relative helicity of the active region before and after the flare; our analysis indicates a peak in these quantities before the flare events which is consistent with the results mentioned in literature. We also analyzed single-polarity regions AR 10923 and 10933, which showed very good fits with potential fields. This method can provide useful reconstruction of the nonlinear force-free (NLFF) fields as well as reasonably good input fields for other numerical techniques.

Models of force-free spheres and applications to solar active regions

Here we present a systematic study of force-free field equation for simple axisymmetric configurations in spherical geometry. The condition of separability of solutions in radial and angular variables leads to two classes of solutions: linear and non-linear force-free fields. We have studied these linear solutions Chandrasekhar (1956) and extended the non-linear solutions given in Low \& Lou (1990) to the irreducible rational form $n= p/q$, which is allowed for all cases of odd $p$ and to cases of $q>p$ for even $p$. We have further calculated their energies and relative helicities for magnetic field configurations in finite and infinite shell geometries. We demonstrate here a method here to be used to fit observed magnetograms as well as to provide good exact input fields for testing other numerical codes used in reconstruction on the non-linear force-free fields.

Ferromagnetic Ordering in CeIr2B2: Transport, magnetization, specific heat and NMR studies

We present a complete characterization of ferromagnetic system CeIr2B2 using powder x-ray diffraction XRD, magnetic susceptibility chi(T), isothermal magnetization M(H), specific heat C(T), electrical resistivity rho(T,H), and thermoelectric power S(T) measurements. Furthermore 11B NMR study was performed to probe the magnetism on a microscopic scale. The chi(T), C(T) and rho(T) data confirm bulk ferromagnetic ordering with Tc = 5.1 K. Ce ions in CeIr2B2 are in stable trivalent state. Our low-temperature C(T) data measured down to 0.4 K yield Sommerfeld coefficient gamma = 73(4) mJ/molK2 which is much smaller than the previously reported value of gamma = 180 mJ/molK2 deduced from the specific heat measurement down to 2.5 K. For LaIr2B2 gamma = 6(1) mJ/molK2 which implies the density of states at the Fermi level D(EF) = 2.54 states/(eV f.u.) for both spin directions. The renormalization factor for quasi-particle density of states and hence for quasi-particle mass due to 4f correlations in CeIr2B2 is 12. The Kondo temperature TK ~ 4 K is estimated from the jump in specific heat of CeIr2B2 at Tc. Both C(T) and rho(T) data exhibit gapped-magnon behavior in magnetically ordered state with an energy gap Eg ~ 3.5 K. The rho data as a function of magnetic field H indicate a large negative magnetoresistance (MR) which is highest for T = 5 K.While at 5 K the negative MR keeps on increasing up to 10 T, at 2 K an upturn is observed near H = 3.5 T. On the other hand, the thermoelectric power data have small absolute values (S ~ 7 μV/K) indicating a weak Kondo interaction. A shoulder in S(T) at about 30 K followed by a minimum at ~ 10 K is attributed to crystal electric field (CEF) effects and the onset of magnetic ordering. 11B NMR line broadening provides strong evidence of ferromagnetic correlations below 40 K.

Gender Based Emotion Recognition System for Telugu Rural Dialects Using Hidden Markov Models

Automatic emotion recognition in speech is a research area with a wide range of applications in human interactions. The basic mathematical tool used for emotion recognition is Pattern recognition which involves three operations, namely, pre-processing, feature extraction and classification. This paper introduces a procedure for emotion recognition using Hidden Markov Models (HMM), which is used to divide five emotional states: anger, surprise, happiness, sadness and neutral state. The approach is based on standard speech recognition technology using hidden continuous markov model by selection of low level features and the design of the recognition system. Emotional Speech Database from Telugu Rural Dialects of Andhra Pradesh (TRDAP) was designed using several speaker's voices comprising the emotional states. The accuracy of recognizing five different emotions for both genders of classification is 80% for anger-emotion which is achieved by using the best combination of 39-dimensioanl feature vector for every frame (13 MFCCs, 13 Delta Coefficients and 13 Acceleration Coefficients) and a classifier using HMM. This outcome very much matches with that acquired with the same database with subjective evaluation by human judges. Both gender-dependent and gender-independent experiments are conducted on TRDAP emotional speech database.

Intermittency transitions to strange nonchaotic attractors in a quasiperiodically driven Duffing oscillator

Different mechanisms for the creation of strange nonchaotic attractors (SNAs) are studied in a two-frequency parametrically driven Duffing oscillator. We focus on intermittency transitions in particular, and show that SNAs in this system are created through quasiperiodic saddle-node bifurcations (Type-I intermittency) as well as through a quasiperiodic subharmonic bifurcation (Type-III intermittency). The intermittent attractors are characterized via a number of Lyapunov measures including the behavior of the largest nontrivial Lyapunov exponent and its variance as well as through distributions of finite-time Lyapunov exponents. These attractors are ubiquitous in quasiperiodically driven systems; the regions of occurrence of various SNAs are identified in a phase diagram of the Duffing system.
