Thermodynamics and reentrant phase transition for logarithmic nonlinear charged black holes in massive gravity

We investigate a new class of $(n+1)$-dimensional topological black hole solutions in the context of massive gravity and in the presence of logarithmic nonlinear electrodynamics. Exploring higher dimensional solutions in massive gravity coupled to nonlinear electrodynamics is motivated by holographic hypothesis as well as string theory. We first construct exact solutions of the field equations and then explore the behavior of the metric functions for different values of the model parameters. We observe that our black holes admit the multi-horizons caused by a quantum effect called anti-evaporation. Next, by calculating the conserved and thermodynamic quantities, we obtain a generalized Smarr formula. We find that the first law of black holes thermodynamics is satisfied on the black hole horizon. We study thermal stability of the obtained solutions in both canonical and grand canonical ensembles. We reveal that depending on the model parameters, our solutions exhibit a rich variety of phase structures. Finally, we explore, for the first time without extending thermodynamics phase space, the critical behavior and reentrant phase transition for black hole solutions in massive gravity theory. We realize that there is a zeroth order phase transition for a specified range of charge value and the system experiences a large/small/large reentrant phase transition due to the presence of nonlinear electrodynamics.

Critical behavior of Gauss-Bonnet black holes via an alternative phase space

Recently, it was argued that charged Anti-de Sitter (AdS) black holes admit critical behavior, without extending phase space, similar to the Van der Waals fluid system in the $Q^2-Ψ$ plans where $Ψ=1/v$ (the conjugate of $Q^2$) is the inverse of the specific volume \cite{Dehy}. In this picture, the square of the charge of the black hole, $Q^2$, is treated as a thermodynamic variable and the cosmological constant $Λ$ is fixed. In this paper, we would like to examine whether this new approach toward critical behaviour of AdS black holes can work in other gravity such as Gauss-Bonnet (GB) gravity as well as in higher dimensional spacetime. We obtain the equation of state, $Q^2=Q^2(Ψ, T)$, Gibbs free energy and the critical quantities of the system, and study the effects of the GB coupling $\tildeα$ on their behaviour. We find out that the critical quantities have reasonable values, provided the GB coupling constant, $\tildeα$, is taken small and the horizon topology is assumed to be $(d-2)$-sphere. Finally, we calculate the critical exponents and show that they are independent of the model parameters and have the same values as the Van der Waals system which is predicted by the mean field theory.

Tsallis Agegraphic Dark Energy Model

Using the nonextensive Tsallis entropy and the holographic hypothesis, we propose a new dark energy (DE) model with time scale as infrared (IR) cutoff. Considering the age of the Universe as well as the conformal time as IR cutoffs, we investigate the cosmological consequences of the proposed DE models and study the evolution of the Universe filled by a pressureless matter and the obtained DE candidates. We find that although these models can describe the late time acceleration and the density, deceleration and the equation of state parameters show satisfactory behavior by themselves, however, these models are classically unstable unless the interaction between the two dark sectors of the Universe is taken into account. In addition, the results of the existence of a mutual interaction between the cosmos sectors are also addressed. We find out that the interacting models are stable at the classical level which is in contrast to the original interacting agegraphic dark energy models which are classically unstable [1].

A Note on Tsallis Holographic Dark Energy

We explore the effects of considering various infrared (IR) cutoffs, including the particle horizon, Ricci horizon and Granda-Oliveros (GO) cutoffs, on the properties of Tsallis holographic dark energy (THDE) model, proposed inspired by Tsallis generalized entropy formalism \cite{THDE}. Interestingly enough, we find that for the particle horizon as IR cutoff, the obtained THDE model can describe the accelerated universe. This is in contrast to the usual HDE model which cannot lead to an accelerated universe, if one consider the particle horizon as IR cutoff. We also investigate the cosmological consequences of THDE under the assumption of a mutual interaction between the dark sectors of the Universe. It is shown that the evolution history of the Universe can be described by these IR cutoffs and thus the current cosmic acceleration can also been realized. The sound instability of THDE models for each cutoff are also explored, separately.

Topological dyonic dilaton black holes in AdS spaces

We construct a new class of dyonic dilaton black hole solutions in the background of Anti-de Sitter (AdS) spacetime. In order to find an analytical solution which satisfy all the field equations, we should consider the string case where the dilaton coupling is $α=1$. The asymptotic behaviour of the solution ($r\rightarrow\infty$) is exactly AdS, where the dilaton field becomes zero and the metric function reduces to $f(r)\rightarrow -Λr^2/3$. In this spacetime, black hole horizons and cosmological horizons, can be a two-dimensional positive, zero or negative constant curvature surface. We study the physical properties of the solution and show that depending on the metric parameters, these solutions can describe black holes with one or two horizons or a naked singularity. We investigate thermodynamics of the solutions by calculating the charge, mass, temperature, entropy and the electric potential of these solutions and disclose that these conserved and thermodynamic quantities satisfy the first law of black hole thermodynamics. We also analyze thermal stability of the solutions and find the conditions for which we have a stable dyonic dilaton black hole.

Revisiting Agegraphic Dark Energy in Brans-Dicke Cosmology

We explore a spatially homogeneous and isotropic Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) universe which is filled with agegraphic dark energy (ADE) with mutual interaction with pressureless dark matter in the background of Brans-Dicke (BD) theory. We consider both original and new type of agegraphic dark energy (NADE) and further assume the sign of the interaction term can change during the history of the Universe. We obtain the equation of state parameter, the deceleration parameter and the evolutionary equation for the sign-changeable interacting ADE and NADE in BD theory. We find that, in both models, the equation of state parameter, $w_D$, cannot cross the phantom line, although they can predict the Universe evolution from the early deceleration phase to the late time acceleration, compatible with observations. We also investigate the sound stability of these models and find out that both models cannot show a signal of stability for different model parameters.

Ghost dark energy in the DGP braneworld

We investigate the ghost model of dark energy in the framework of DGP braneworld. We explore the cosmological consequences of this model by determining the equation of state parameter, $ω_D$, the deceleration and the density parameters. We also examine the stability of this model by studying the squared of the sound speed in the presence/absence of interaction term between dark energy and dark matter. We find out that in the absence of interaction between two dark sectors of the Universe we have $ω_D\rightarrow -1$ in the late time, while in the presence of interaction $ω_D$ can cross the phantom line $-1$. In both cases the squared of sound speed $v_s^2$ does not show any signal of stability. We also determine the statefinder diagnosis of this model as well as the $ω_D-ω^{\prime}_{D}$ plane and compare the results with the $Λ$CDM model. We find that $ω_D-ω^{\prime}_{D}$ plane meets the freezing region in the absence of interaction between two dark sectors, while it meets both the thawing and the freezing regions in the interacting case.

Implications of the Generalized Entropy Formalisms on the Newtonian Gravity and Dynamics

Employing the Verlinde's hypothesis, and considering two well-known generalized entropy formalisms, two modifications to the Newtonian gravity are derived. In addition, it has been shown that the generalized entropy measures may also provide theoretical basis for the Modified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND) theory and generate its modified forms. Since these entropy measures are also successful in describing the current accelerated universe, our results indicate that the origin of dark sectors of cosmos may be unified to meeting the generalized entropy measures instead of the Boltzmann-Gibbs entropy by the gravitational systems due to the long-range nature of gravity.

Stability of HDE model with sign-changeable interaction in Brans-Dicke theory

We consider the Brans-Dicke (BD) theory of gravity and explore the cosmological implications of the sign-changeable interacting holographic dark energy (HDE) model in the background of Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) universe. As the system's infrared (IR) cutoff, we choose the future event horizon, the Granda-Oliveros (GO) and the Ricci cutoffs. For each cutoff, we obtain the density parameter, the equation of state (EoS) and the deceleration parameter of the system. In case of future event horizon, we find out that the EoS parameter, $w_{D}$, can cross the phantom line, as a result the transition from deceleration to acceleration expansion of the universe can be achieved provided the model parameters are chosen suitably. Then, we investigate the instability of the sign-changeable interacting HDE model against perturbations in BD theory. For this purpose, we study the squared sound speed $v_s^2$ whose sign determines the stability of the model. When $v_s^2<0$ the model is unstable against perturbation. For future event horizon cutoff, our universe can be stable (${v}^{2}_s>0$) depending on the model parameters. Then, we focus on GO and Ricci cutoffs and find out that although other features of these two cutoffs seem to be consistent with observations, they cannot leads to stable dominated universe, except in special case with GO cutoff. Our studies confirm that for the sign-changeable HDE model in the setup of BD cosmology, the event horizon is the most suitable horizon which can passes all conditions and leads to a stable DE dominated universe.

One-dimensional backreacting holographic superconductors with exponential nonlinear electrodynamics

In this paper, we investigate the effects of nonlinear exponential electrodynamics as well as backreaction on the properties of one-dimensional $s$-wave holographic superconductors. We continue our study both analytically and numerically. In analytical study, we employ the Sturm-Liouville method while in numerical approach we perform the shooting method. We obtain a relation between the critical temperature and chemical potential analytically. Our results show a good agreement between analytical and numerical methods. We observe that the increase in the strength of both nonlinearity and backreaction parameters causes the formation of condensation in the black hole background harder and critical temperature lower. These results are consistent with those obtained for two dimensional $s$-wave holographic superconductors.

Implications of maximum acceleration on dynamics

Considering the corrected Unruh temperature as well as the entropic force perspective of gravity, we are able to derive the modification of the Newton's law of gravity. In addition, we also investigate the effects of the highest achievable acceleration correction to the Unruh temperature on the Poisson equation. Moreover, we address modifications to the Newtonian cosmology as well as the Friedmann equations corresponding to the upper bound for acceleration.

Tsallis Holographic Dark Energy

Employing the modified entropy-area relation suggested by Tsallis and Cirto \cite{non3}, and the holographic hypothesis, a new holographic dark energy (HDE) model is proposed. Considering a flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) universe in which there is no interaction between the cosmos sectors, the cosmic implications of the proposed HDE are investigated. Interestingly enough, we find that the identification of IR-cutoff with the Hubble radius, can lead to the late time accelerated Universe even in the absence of interaction between two dark sectors of the Universe. This is in contrast to the standard HDE model with Hubble cutoff, which does not imply the accelerated expansion, unless the interaction is taken into account.

Critical behavior and phase transition of dilaton black holes with nonlinear electrodynamics

In this paper, we take into account the dilaton black hole solutions of Einstein gravity in the presence of logarithmic and exponential forms of nonlinear electrodynamics. At first, we consider the cosmological constant and nonlinear parameter as thermodynamic quantities which can vary. We obtain thermodynamic quantities of the system such as pressure, temperature and Gibbs free energy in an extended phase space. We complete the analogy of the nonlinear dilaton black holes with Van der Waals liquid-gas system. We work in the canonical ensemble and hence we treat the charge of the black hole as an external fixed parameter. Moreover, we calculate the critical values of temperature, volume and pressure and show they depend on dilaton coupling constant as well as nonlinear parameter. We also investigate the critical exponents and find that they are universal and independent of the dilaton and nonlinear parameters, which is an expected result. {Finally, we explore the phase transition of nonlinear dilaton black holes by studying the Gibbs free energy of the system. We find that in case of $T>T_c$, we have no phase transition. When $T=T_c$, the system admits a second order phase transition, while for $T=T_{\rm f}<T_c$ the system experiences a first order transition. Interestingly, for $T_{\rm f}<T<T_c$ we observe a \textit{zeroth order} phase transition in the presence of dilaton field. This novel \textit{zeroth order} phase transition is occurred due to a finite jump in Gibbs free energy which is generated by dilaton-electromagnetic coupling constant, $α$, for a certain range of pressure.}

Asymptotically (A)dS dilaton black holes with nonlinear electrodynamics

It is well-known that with an appropriate combination of three Liouville-type dilaton potentials, one can construct charged dilaton black holes in an (anti)-de Sitter [(A)dS] spaces in the presence of linear Maxwell field. However, asymptotically (A)dS dilaton black holes coupled to nonlinear gauge field have not been found. In this paper, we construct, for the first time, three new classes of dilaton black hole solutions in the presence of three types of nonlinear electrodynamics, namely Born-Infeld, Logarithmic and Exponential nonlinear electrodynamics. All these solutions are asymptotically (A)dS and in the linear regime reduce to the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton black holes in AdS spaces. We investigate physical properties and the causal structure, as well as asymptotic behavior of the obtained solutions, and show that depending on the values of the metric parameters, the singularity can be covered by various horizons. Interestingly enough, we find that the coupling of dilaton field and nonlinear gauge field in the background of (A)dS spaces leads to a strange behaviour for the electric field. We observe that the electric field is zero at singularity and increases smoothly until reaches a maximum value, then it decreases smoothly until goes to zero as $r\rightarrow\infty$. The maximum value of the electric field increases with increasing the nonlinear parameter $β$ or decreasing the dilaton coupling $α$ and is shifted to the singularity in the absence of either dilaton field ($α=0$) or nonlinear gauge field ($β\rightarrow\infty$).

Optical properties of Born-Infeld-dilaton-Lifshitz holographic superconductors

In this paper, we first study the Lifshitz-dilaton holographic superconductors with nonlinear Born-Infeld (BI) gauge field and obtain the critical temperature of the system for different values of Lifshitz dynamical exponent, $z$, and nonlinear parameter $b$. We find that for fixed value of $b$, the critical temperature decreases with increasing $z$. This indicates that the increase of anisotropy between space and time prevents the phase transition. Also, for fixed value of $z$, the critical temperature decrease with increasing $b$. Then, we investigate the optical properties of ($2+1$) and ($3+1$)-dimensional BI-Lifshitz holographic superconductors in the the presence of dilaton field. We explore the refractive index of the system. For $z=1$ and $(2+1)$-dimensional holographic superconductor, we observe negative real part for permittivity $\textrm{Re}[ε]$ as frequency $ω$ decreases. Thus, in low frequency region our superconductor exhibit metamaterial property. This behaviour is independent of the nonlinear parameter and can be seen for either linear ($b=0$) and nonlinear ($b\neq 0$) electrodynamics. Interestingly, for ($3+1$)-dimensional Lifshitz-dilaton holographic superconductors, we observe metamaterial behavior neither in the presence of linear nor nonlinear electrodynamics.

Microscopic Origin of Black Hole Reentrant Phase Transitions

Understanding the microscopic behavior of the black holes ingredients has been one of the important challenges in black holes physics during the past decades. In order to shed some light on the microscopic structure of black holes, in this paper, we explore a recently observed phenomenon for black holes namely reentrant phase transition, by employing the Ruppeiner geometry. Interestingly enough, we observe two properties for the phase behaviour of small black holes that leads to reentrant phase transition. They are correlated and they are of the interaction type. For the range of pressure in which the system underlies reentrant phase transition, it transits from large black holes phase to small one which possesses higher correlation than the other ranges of pressures. On the other hand, the type of interaction between small black holes near large/small transition line, differs for usual and reentrant phase transitions. Indeed, for usual case, the dominant interaction is repulsive whereas for reentrant case we encounter with an attractive interaction. We show that in reentrant phase transition case, the small black holes behave like a Bosonic gas whereas in the usual phase transition case, they behave like a quantum anyon gas.

Holographic conductivity in the massive gravity with power-law Maxwell field

We obtain a new class of topological black hole solutions in $(n+1)$-dimensional massive gravity in the presence of the power-Maxwell electrodynamics. We calculate the conserved and thermodynamic quantities of the system and show that the first law of thermodynamics is satisfied on the horizon. Then, we investigate the holographic conductivity for the four and five dimensional black brane solutions. For completeness, we study the holographic conductivity for both massless ($m=0$) and massive ($m \neq 0$) gravities with power-Maxwell field. The massless gravity enjoys translational symmetry whereas the massive gravity violates it. For massless gravity, we observe that the real part of conductivity, $\mathrm{Re}[σ]$, decreases as charge $q$ increases when frequency $ω$ tends to zero, while the imaginary part of conductivity, $\mathrm{Im}[σ]$, diverges as $ω\rightarrow 0$. For the massive gravity, we find that $\mathrm{Im}[σ]$ is zero at $ω=0$ and becomes larger as $q$\ increases (temperature decreases), which is in contrast to the massless gravity. Interestingly, we observe that in contrast to the massless case, $\mathrm{Re}[σ]$ has a maximum value at $ω=0$ (known as the Drude peak) for $p=\left( n+1\right) /4$ (conformally invariant electrodynamics) where $p$ is the power parameter of the power-law Maxwell field and this maximum increases with increasing $q$. Finally, we show that for high frequencies, the real part of the holographic conductivity have the power law behavior in terms of frequency, $ω^{a}$ where $a \propto (n+1-4p)$. Some similar behaviors for high frequencies in possible dual CFT systems have been reported in experimental observations.

Revisiting Holographic Dark Energy in Cyclic Cosmology

Considering the holographic dark energy (HDE) with two different Infrared (IR) cutoffs, we study the evolution of a cyclic universe which avoids the Big-Rip singularity. Our results show that, even in the absence of a mutual interaction between the cosmos sectors, the HDE model with the Hubble radius as IR cutoff can mimics a cosmological constant in the framework of a cyclic cosmology. In addition, we find that both the interacting and non-interacting universes may enter into a cycle of sequential contraction and expansion, if the Granda-Oliveros (GO) cutoff is chosen as the IR cutoff in the energy density of the HDE.
