Analytic two-loop results for selfenergy- and vertex-type diagrams with one non-zero mass

For a large class of two-loop selfenergy- and vertex-type diagrams with only one non-zero mass ($M$) and the vertices also with only one non-zero external momentum squared ($q^2$) the first few expansion coefficients are calculated by the large mass expansion. This allows to `guess' the general structure of these coefficients and to verify them in terms of certain classes of `basis elements', which are essentially harmonic sums. Since for this case with only one non-zero mass the large mass expansion and the Taylor series in terms of $q^2$ are identical, this approach yields analytic expressions of the Taylor coefficients, from which the diagram can be easily evaluated numerically in a large domain of the complex $q^2-$plane by well known methods. It is also possible to sum the Taylor series and present the results in terms of polylogarithms.

Applications of the Large Mass Expansion

The method of the large mass expansion (LME) is investigated for selfenergy and vertex functions in two-loop order. It has the technical advantage that in many cases the expansion coefficients can be expressed analytically. As long as only one non-zero external momentum squared, $q^2$, is involved also the Taylor expansion (TE) w.r.t. small $q^2$ yields high precision results in a domain sufficient for most applications. In the case of only one non-zero mass $M$ and only one external momentum squared, the expansion w.r.t. $q^2/M^2$ is identical for the TE and the LME. In this case the combined techniques yield analytic expressions for many diagrams, which are quite easy to handle numerically.

Compact analytical form for a class of three-loop vacuum Feynman diagrams

We present compact, fully analytical expressions for singular parts of a class of three-loop diagrams which cannot be factorized into lower-loop integrals. As a result of the calculations we obtain the analytical expression for the three-loop effective potential of the massive O(N) ϕ^4 model presented recently by J.-M.Chung and B.K.Chung, Phys.Rev. D56, 6508 (1997).

Small x behaviour of parton distributions with soft initial conditions

We present an analytical parametrization of the QCD description of the small x behaviour of parton distribution functions in the leading twist approximation of the Wilson operator product expansion, in the case of soft initial conditions. The results are in very good agreement with deep inelastic scattering experimental data from HERA.

F_2 Structure Function and Higher-twist Contributons (Nonsinglet Case)

We performed the combine fits of SLAC, BCDMS and NMC data at NLO level. The data are fitted very well with different parametrizations of higher twist contributions. The theory-based parametrizations lead to the low values of QCD parameter Λ^{f=4}_{\overfull{MS}} \sim 140 \pm 21 MeV (or α_s(M^2_Z)= 0.103 \pm 0.002).

About Q2 Dependence of the Measured Asymmetry A_1(x)

We propose the new approach for taking into account the Q2 dependence of measured asymmetry A_1. This approach is based on the similarity of the Q2 behaviour and the shape of the spin-dependent structure function g_1(x,Q^2) and spin averaged structure function F_3(x,Q^2). The analysis is applied on the SMC and E154 experimental data.

QCD relations between structure functions at small x

We present very simple non-integral relations between deep inelastic structure functions $F_L$, $F_2$ and the gluon distribution at small $x$ based on perturbative QCD which are useful for the phenomenological analysis of data at low $x$. As an application we extract the deep inelastic scattering cross-sections ratio $R= σ_L/σ_T$ in the range $10^{-4} \leq x \leq 10^{-2}$ from $F_2$ HERA data.

The QCD analysis of the revised CCFR data for xF_3 structure function: the next-to-next-to-leading order and Padé approximants

The next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD analysis of the revised experimental data of the CCFR collaboration for the $xF_3$ structure function of the deep-inelastic scattering of neutrinos and antinuetrinos on the nucleons is made by means of the Jacobi polynomial expansion technique. The NNLO values of the QCD coupling constant are determined both without and with twist--4 contributions taken into account. Theoretical ambiguities of $α_s$ are fixed using the methods of the Padé approximants. We observe that the [0/2] Padé approximant is more appropriate for this purpose than the [1/1] one.

Next-to-next-to-leading order QCD analysis of the revised CCFR data for xF_3 structure function and the higher twist contributions

We present the results of the next-to-next-to-leading order QCD analysis of the recently revised experimental data of the CCFR collaboration for the $xF_3$ structure function using the Jacobi polynomial expansion method. The effects of the higher twist contributions are included into the fits following the infrared renormalon motivated model. The special attention is paid to the checks of the predictive abilities of the infrared renormalon model and to the independent extraction of the $x$-shape of the twist-4 contributions to the $xF_3$ structure function in the process of the leading order, next-to-leading order and next-to-next-to-leading order fits of the revised CCFR data. We stress that at the next-to-next-to-leading order the results for $α_s(M_Z)$ turn out to be almost nonsensitive to the higher-twist terms. We obtain the following result $α_s(M_Z)^{NNLO}=0.117 \pm 0.002(stat) \pm 0.005 (syst)\pm 0.003 (theory)$. The comparison of the outcomes of our next-to-leading order and next-to-next-to-leading order analysis indicate that the theoretical QCD uncertainties were underestimated in the process of the next-to-leading order determination of $α_s(M_Z)$, made recently by the CCFR collaboration itself.

The $Q^2$ dependence of the measured asymmetry $A_1$: the test of the Bjorken sum rule

We analyse the proton and deutron data on spin dependent asymmetry $A_1(x,Q^2)$ supposing the DIS structure functions $g_1(x,Q^2)$ and $F_3(x,Q^2)$ have the similar $Q^2$-dependence. As a result, we have obtained that $Γ_1^p - Γ_1^n = 0.190 \pm 0.038$ at $Q^2= 10 GeV^2$ and $Γ_1^p - Γ_1^n = 0.165 \pm 0.026$ at $Q^2= 3 GeV^2$, what is in the best agreement with the Bjorken sum rule predictions.

Compact analytical form for non-zeta terms in critical exponents at order 1/N^3

We simplify, to a single integral of dilogarithms, the least tractable O(1/N^3) contribution to the large-N critical exponent $η$ of the non-linear sigma-model, and hence $ϕ^4$-theory, for any spacetime dimensionality, D. It is the sole generator of irreducible multiple zeta values in epsilon-expansions with $D=2-2ε$, for the sigma-model, and $D=4-2ε$, for $ϕ^4$-theory. In both cases we confirm results of Broadhurst, Gracey and Kreimer (BGK) that relate knots to counterterms. The new compact form is much simpler than that of BGK. It enables us to develop 8 new terms in the epsilon-expansion with $D=3-2ε$. These involve alternating Euler sums, for which the basis of irreducibles is larger. We conclude that massless Feynman diagrams in odd spacetime dimensions share the greater transcendental complexity of massive diagrams in even dimensions, such as those contributing to the electron's magnetic moment and the electroweak $ρ$-parameter. Consequences for the perturbative sector of Chern-Simons theory are discussed.

The DIS cross-sections ratio $R= σ_L/σ_T$ at small x from HERA data

We extract the deep inelastic scattering cross-sections ratio $R= σ_L/σ_T$ in the range $10^{-4} \leq x \leq 10^{-1}$ from $F_2$ HERA data using very simple relations based on perturbative QCD. The result depends on only one parameter $δ$, being $x^{-δ}$ the behavior of the parton densities at low $x$, which has been determined recently with a good accuracy by the H1 group.

On the $Q^2$ Dependence of Asymmetry $A_1$

Next-to-next-to-leading order QCD analysis of the CCFR data for xF_3 and F_2 structure functions of the deep-inelastic neutrino-nucleon scattering

The next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) non-singlet QCD analysis of the experimental data of the CCFR collaboration for the $xF_3$ and $F_2$ structure functions of the deep-inelastic scattering of neutrinos and antineutrinos on the nucleon by means of the Jacobi polinomial expansion method is made. The target mass corrections are also taken into account. We demonstrate that the NNLO corrections have the important: they are decreasing the difference between the values of $α_s(M_Z)$, extracted from the NLO fit of $xF_3$ data and from the NLO non-singlet fit of the combined $xF_3$ and $F_2$ CCFR data. The obtained NNLO results for $α_s(M_Z)$ are :$α_s(M_Z)=0.109 \pm 0.003(stat) \pm 0.005(syst) \pm 0.003 (theor)$ (from $xF_3$ data) and $α_s(M_Z)=0.111\pm 0.002 (stat) \pm 0.003 (syst) \pm 0.003 (theor)$ (from the combined $xF_3$ and $F_2$ data). We also estimate the values of the order $O(α_s^2)$-corrections to the Gottfried sum rule.
