Reducible Abelian varieties and Lax matrices for Euler's problem of two fixed centres

Abel's quadratures for integrable Hamiltonian systems are defined up to a group law of the corresponding Abelian variety $A$. If $A$ is isogenous to a direct product of Abelian varieties $A\cong A_1\times\cdots\times A_k$, the group law can be used to construct various Lax matrices on the factors $A_1,\ldots,A_k$. As an example, we discuss 2-dimensional reducible Abelian variety $A=E_+\times E_-$, which is a product of 1-dimensional varieties $E_\pm$ obtained by Euler in his study of the two fixed centres problem, and the Lax matrices on the factors $E_\pm$.

On inhomogeneous nonholonomic Bilimovich system

We consider a simple motivating example of a non-Hamiltonian dynamical system with time-dependent constraints obtained by imposing rheonomic non-integrable Bilimovich's constraint on a freely rotating rigid body. Dynamics of this low-dimensional nonlinear nonautonomous dynamic system involves different kinds of stable and unstable attractors, quasi and strange attractors, compact and noncompact invariant attractive curves, etc. To study this cautionary example we apply the Poincaré map method to disambiguate and discover multiscale temporal dynamics, specifically the coarse-grained dynamics resulting from fast-scale nonlinear control via nonholonomic Bilimovich's constraint.

Reduction of divisors for classical superintegrable $GL(3)$ magnetic chain

Variables of separation for classical $GL(3)$ magnetic chain obtained by Sklyanin form a generic positive divisor $D$ of degree $n$ on a genus $g$ non-hyperelliptic algebraic curve. Because $n>g$ this divisor $D$ has unique representative $ρ(D)$ in the Jacobian which can be constructed by using dim$|D|=n-g$ steps of Abel's algorithm. We study properties of the corresponding chain of divisors and prove that the classical $GL(3)$ magnetic chain is a superintegrable system with dim$|D|=2$ superintegrable Hamiltonians.

Discretization and superintegrability all rolled into one

Abelian integrals arise in the mathematical description of various physical processes. According to Abel's theorem these integrals are related to motion of a set of points along a plane curve around fixed points, which are relatively little used in physics applications. We propose to interpret coordinates of the fixed points either as parameters of exact discretization or as additional first integrals for equations of motion reduced to Abelian quadratures.

On rheonomic nonholonomic deformations of the Euler equations proposed by Bilimovich

In 1913 A.D. Bilimovich observed that rheonomic linear and homogeneous in generalized velocities constraints are ideal. As a typical example, he considered rheonomic nonholonomic deformation of the Euler equations which scleronomic version is equivalent to the nonholonomic Suslov system. For the Bilimovich system equations of motion are reduced to quadrature, which is discussed in rheonomic and scleronomic cases.

Superintegrable systems and Riemann-Roch theorem

In algebraic geometry, there is a reduction algorithm that transforms the unreduced divisor into a unique reduced divisor, which existence is guaranteed by the Riemann-Roch theorem. We discuss application of this algorithm to construction of finite-dimensional superintegrable systems with $n$ degrees of freedom identifying coordinates of the reduced divisor with integrals of motion.

The Kepler problem: polynomial algebra of non-polynomial first integrals

The sum of elliptic integrals simultaneously determines orbits in thr Kepler problem and the addition of divisors on elliptic curves. Periodic motion of a body in physical space is defined by symmetries, whereas periodic motion of divisors is defined by a fixed point on the curve. Algebra of the first integrals associated with symmetries is a well-known mathematical object, whereas algebra of the first integrals associated with coordinates of fixed points is unknown. In this paper, we discuss polynomial algebras of non-polynomial first integrals of superintegrable systems associated with elliptic curves.

Hamiltonization and separation of variables for Chaplygin ball on a rotating plane

We discuss a non-Hamiltonian vector field appearing in consideration of a partial motion of the Chaplygin ball rolling on a horizontal plane which rotates with constant angular velocity. In two partial cases this vector field is expressed via Hamiltonian vector fields using a non-algebraic deformation of the canonical Poisson bivector on e^*(3). For the symmetric ball we also calculate variables of separation, compatible Poisson brackets, algebra of Haantjes operators and 2x2 Lax matrices.

Elliptic curve arithmetic and superintegrable systems

Harmonic oscillator and the Kepler problem are superintegrable systems which admit more integrals of motion than degrees of freedom and all these integrals are polynomials in momenta. We present superintegrable deformations of the oscillator and the Kepler problem with algebraic and rational first integrals. Also, we discuss a family of superintegrable metrics on the two-dimensional sphere, which have similar first integrals.

Transformation of the Stackel matrices preserving superintegrability

If we take a superintegrable Stackel system and make variables "faster" or "slower", that is equivalent to a trivial transformation of the Stackel matrix and potentials, then we obtain an infinite family of superintegrable systems with explicitly defined additional integrals of motion. We present some examples of such transformations associated with angle variables expressed via logarithmic functions.

On discretization of the Euler top

Application of the intersection theory to construction of n-point finite-difference equations associated with classical integrable systems is discussed. As an example, we present a few new discretizations of motion of the Euler top sharing the integrals of motion with the continuous time system and the Poisson bracket up to the integer scaling factor.

On exact discretization of the cubic-quintic Duffing oscillator

Application of intersection theory to construction of n-point finite-difference equations associated with classical integrable systems is discussed. As an example, we present a few exact discretizations of one-dimensional cubic and quintic Duffing oscillators sharing form of Hamiltonian and canonical Poisson bracket up to the integer scaling factor.

On superintegrable systems separable in Cartesian coordinates

We continue the study of superintegrable systems of Thompson's type separable in Cartesian coordinates. An additional integral of motion for these systems is the polynomial in momenta of N-th order which is a linear function of angle variables and the polynomial in action variables. Existence of such superintegrable systems is naturally related to the famous Chebyshev theorem on binomial differentials.

Duffing oscillator and elliptic curve cryptography

A new approach to discretization of the Duffing equation is presented. Integrable discrete maps are obtained by using well-studied encrypting operations in elliptic curve cryptography and, therefore, they do not depend upon standard small parameter assumption.

Backlund transformations and divisor doubling

In classical mechanics well-known cryptographic algorithms and protocols can be very useful for construction canonical transformations preserving form of Hamiltonians. We consider application of a standard generic divisor doubling for construction of new auto Bäcklund transformations for the Lagrange top and Hénon-Heiles system separable in parabolic coordinates.

Integrable discretization and deformation of the nonholonomic Chaplygin ball

The rolling of a dynamically balanced ball on a horizontal rough table without slipping was described by Chaplygin using Abel quadratures. We discuss integrable discretizations and deformations of this nonholonomic system using the same Abel quadratures. As a by-product one gets new geodesic flow on the unit two-dimensional sphere whose additional integrals of motion are polynomials in the momenta of fourth order.

New bi-Hamiltonian systems on the plane

We discuss several new bi-Hamiltonian integrable systems on the plane with integrals of motion of third, fourth and sixth order in momenta. The corresponding variables of separation, separated relations, compatible Poisson brackets and recursion operators are also presented in the framework of the Jacobi method.

On auto and hetero Backlund transformations for the Henon-Heiles systems

We consider a canonical transformation of parabolic coordinates on the plain and suppose that this transformation together with some additional relations may be considered as a counterpart of the auto and hetero Bäcklund transformations associated with the integrable Hénon-Heiles systems.
