From Bertotti--Robinson to Vacuum: New Exact Solutions in General Relativity via Harrison and Inversion Symmetries

We construct new vacuum solutions of the Einstein equations generated from electrovacuum configurations embedded in external electromagnetic backgrounds. Starting from accelerating Bertotti--Robinson black holes, we exploit two independent symmetries of the electrovacuum: a Melvin--Bonnor-type magnetization and a magnetic Inversion. In both constructions, the external electromagnetic field can be removed while still leaving a non-trivial gravitational backreaction in the metric, yielding new accelerating vacuum spacetimes of Petrov type I. In the static, non-accelerating limit, the magnetized Bertotti--Robinson--Schwarzschild case reproduces known results, while the Inversion symmetry produces a genuinely new vacuum configuration, a two-parameter extension of the Schwarzschild--Levi-Civita geometry. These constructions provide a systematic method for generating algebraically general vacuum geometries and illustrate how electromagnetic embeddings can induce non-trivial vacuum metrics in General Relativity. The main geometrical properties of these spacetimes are analyzed. Additionally, we present two further results: a stationary generalization of these vacuum geometries and two new static vacuum configurations obtained by applying the same symmetries to the Alekseev--Garc\'ia black hole seed.

Melvin--Bonnor and Bertotti--Robinson spacetimes with Baryonic charge

In this work, we exploit a dictionary that maps solutions of the Einstein--Scalar--Maxwell theory to those of gauged Skyrme--Maxwell--Einstein models in $(3+1)$ dimensions, allowing gravitating scalar-field configurations in external electromagnetic backgrounds to be interpreted in terms of baryonic quantities. Using the definition of Baryonic charge as the integral of a topological density, we derive novel mass formulas that relate the spacetime mass parameter to the Baryonic charge, the external magnetic field, and other solution parameters. As a result, the mass and Baryonic charge are not independent. These closed analytic expressions encode physical information that would otherwise be difficult to extract. In particular, for the class of solutions considered here, the relation between mass and Baryonic charge is linear at large mass, while significant nonlinear deviations appear at intermediate values. This framework provides a useful tool for both extracting new physical insights from known solutions and constructing new baryonic configurations using the solution-generating techniques available for Einstein--Scalar--Maxwell theory.

Magnetized dynamical black holes

We construct a novel exact solution of the Einstein-scalar-Maxwell equations describing a dynamical black hole immersed in an external, time-dependent electromagnetic field. Motivated by the need for more realistic analytical black hole models, our construction incorporates two key ingredients often neglected in exact solutions: a fully dynamical cosmological background and the non-perturbative backreaction of external electromagnetic fields. The compact object is obtained by dressing a Schwarzschild black hole with a radially and temporally dependent scalar field, yielding a time-dependent generalization of the Fisher-Janis-Newman-Winicour solution within the Fonarev framework. The external electromagnetic field is generated via a Lie point symmetry of the Einstein-scalar-Maxwell system, which exports the effect of a Harrison transformation to dynamical settings provided a spacelike Killing vector is present. The resulting spacetime combines a spherically symmetric dynamical horizon with an axisymmetric electromagnetic field and exhibits a rich asymptotic structure mixing Friedmann-Lema\^itre-Robertson-Walker and Levi-Civita geometries. We show that the time dependence of the configuration plays a crucial role in potentially cloaking curvature singularities, which would otherwise be generically naked in the stationary limit. We analyze the geometric and physical properties of the solution, including its asymptotic behavior, algebraic classification, and the structure of trapped surfaces defining the dynamical horizon. Possible implications for primordial black holes and some astrophysical applications, as well as extensions to higher dimensions, are also discussed.

A Circular Disformal Kerr Black Hole

The Kerr solution is the cornerstone of General Relativity (GR) for modelling astrophysical rotating black holes and for testing GR through gravitational-wave observations and black hole imaging. Understanding how the Kerr geometry is modified in alternative theories of gravity is therefore a crucial step toward constraining possible deviations from GR. Despite their importance, exact analytical solutions describing rotating black holes in modified gravity are rare, limiting our ability to explore novel phenomenology and to design robust observational tests of new physics. In this work, we present a new exact rotating black hole solution within a specific scalar-tensor theory belonging to the Horndeski class. The solution is obtained via a disformal transformation acting on a Kerr stealth black hole. Crucially, unlike previous constructions, the disformal transformation of our chosen seed configuration preserves circularity, ensuring that many of the geometrical and physical properties that make the Kerr spacetime so compelling are retained. We refer to the resulting geometry as the Circular Disformal Kerr solution. Remarkably, key features such as the structure of Killing horizons, the ergosphere, and the absence of causality violations closely mirror those of the Kerr metric. The spacetime is algebraically general, corresponding to Petrov type I. This new exact solution therefore provides a rare example of a rotating black hole beyond GR that closely mimics the Kerr geometry, offering a valuable theoretical laboratory to investigate the phenomenology of Kerr-like black holes in modified gravity.

Dynamical axisymmetric compact objects in General Relativity

The search for exact solutions describing asymptotically FLRW compact objects in General Relativity remains a challenging problem. Progress has largely been limited to the spherically symmetric case, with notable exceptions such as the Kerr--de Sitter and Thakurta solutions. In this work, we present two new results that advance the description of axisymmetric compact objects embedded in a cosmological background. First, we introduce a new solution-generating technique that allows for the construction of nonstationary, axisymmetric solutions of the self-interacting Einstein-scalar system. Using this method, we obtain the first exact solution that can describe a dynamical axisymmetric compact object in a FLRW cosmology. We then outline how a detailed analysis of its properties, particularly dynamical trapping (or anti-trapping) horizons, can be carried out. For this purpose, we employ the mean curvature vector (MCV), which provides a natural extension of the Kodama vector beyond spherical symmetry. The norm of the MCV defines a foliation-independent, though embedding-dependent, quantity that can be used to identify trapped, anti-trapped, and untrapped regions, and to characterise the causal structure of the geometry without relying on specific symmetry assumptions. The embedding dependence must be treated carefully, as it determines the extent to which the analysis can be performed analytically while minimising the use of numerical methods. Overall, the solution-generating approach and the associated analysis tools offer a framework to further investigate dynamical axisymmetric compact objects, including black holes in cosmological settings and scenarios involving dynamical scalar accretion.

A new exact rotating spacetime in vacuum: The Kerr--Levi-Civita Spacetime

We construct a new rotating solution of Einstein's theory in vacuum by exploiting the Lie point symmetries of the field equations in the complex potential formalism of Ernst. In particular, we perform a discrete symmetry transformation, known as inversion, of the gravitational potential associated with the Kerr metric. The resulting metric describes a rotating generalization of the Schwarzschild--Levi-Civita spacetime, and we refer to it as the Kerr--Levi-Civita metric. We study the key geometric features of this novel spacetime, which turns out to be free of curvature singularities, topological defects, and closed timelike curves. These attractive properties are also common to the extremal black hole and the super-spinning case. The solution is algebraically general (Petrov-type I), and its horizons lie at the horizon radii of the Kerr black hole. The ergoregions, however, are strongly influenced by the Levi-Civita-like asymptotic structure, producing an effect akin to the magnetized Kerr--Newman and swirling solutions. Interestingly, while its static counterpart permits a Kerr--Schild representation, the Kerr--Levi-Civita metric does not admit such a formulation.

Cardy Entropy of Charged and Rotating Asymptotically AdS and Lifshitz Solutions with a Generalized Chern-Simons term

We consider a three-dimensional gravity model that includes (non-linear) Maxwell and Chern-Simons-like terms, allowing for the existence of electrically charged rotating black hole solutions with a static electromagnetic potential. We verify that a Cardy-like formula, based not on central charges but on the mass of the uncharged and non-spinning soliton, obtained via a double Wick rotation of the neutral static black hole solution, accurately reproduces the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy. Furthermore, we show that a slight generalization of this model, incorporating a dilatonic field and extra gauge fields, admits charged and rotating black hole solutions with asymptotic Lifshitz behavior. The entropy of these solutions can likewise be derived using the Cardy-like formula, with the Lifshitz-type soliton serving as the ground state. Based on these results, we propose a generalized Cardy-like formula that successfully reproduces the semiclassical entropy in all the studied cases.

Thermodynamics of four-dimensional regular black holes with an infinite tower of regularized curvature corrections

We study the thermodynamics of a class of four-dimensional black hole solutions arising from the compactification of a higher-curvature gravity theory featuring an infinite tower of Lovelock-type invariants. For planar horizons, we identify two distinct branches: a regular black hole supported by a nontrivial scalar field and a non-regular general relativity (GR) solution with a trivial scalar profile. Despite their differing geometries, both branches share the same free energy at fixed temperature, revealing a thermodynamic degeneracy naturally linked to the enhanced symmetry and scale invariance of the planar base manifold. In the case of a spherical horizon, even if the scalarized branch is not obtained in closed form, one can see that the degeneracy persists in the absence of the quadratic curvature contribution. On the other hand, if this quadratic term is taken into account, the regular solution may be thermodynamically favored (or not) over the Schwarzschild-AdS solution depending on the values of the coupling constants of the theory.

Rotating spacetimes with a free scalar field in four and five dimensions

We construct explicit rotating solutions in Einstein's theory of relativity with a minimally coupled free scalar field rederiving and finding solutions in four or five spacetime dimensions. These spacetimes describe, in particular, the back-reaction of a free scalar field evolving in a Kerr spacetime. Adapting the general integrability result obtained many years ago from Eri\c{s}-G\"{u}rses to simpler spherical coordinates, we present a method for rederiving the four-dimensional Bogush-Gal'tsov solution. Furthermore, we find the five-dimensional spacetime featuring a free scalar with two distinct angular momenta. In the static limit, these five-dimensional geometries provide higher-dimensional extensions of the Zipoy-Voorhees spacetime. Last but not least, we obtain the four-dimensional version of a Kerr-Newman-NUT spacetime endowed with a free scalar, where the scalar field's radial profile is extended to incorporate dependence on the polar angular coordinate. Our results offer a comprehensive analysis of several recently proposed four-dimensional static solutions with scalar multipolar hair, representing a unified study of spacetimes with a free scalar field in both four and five dimensions under the general integrability result of Eri\c{s}-G\"{u}rses.

Electromagnetized black holes and swirling backgrounds in nonlinear electrodynamics: The ModMax case

This work focuses on constructing electromagnetized black holes and vortex-like backgrounds within the framework of the ModMax theory--the unique nonlinear extension of Maxwell's theory that preserves conformal symmetry and electromagnetic duality invariance. We begin by constructing the Melvin-Bonnor electromagnetic universe in ModMax through a limiting procedure that connects the spacetime of two charged accelerating black holes with that of a gravitating homogeneous electromagnetic field. Building on this result, we proceed to construct the Schwarzschild and C-metric Melvin-Bonnor black holes within the ModMax theory, representing the first black hole solutions embedded in an electromagnetic universe in the context of nonlinear electrodynamics. While the characteristics of the Melvin-Bonnor spacetime and some of its black hole extensions have been widely examined, we demonstrate for the first time that the Schwarzschild-Melvin-Bonnor configuration exhibits an unusual Kerr-Schild representation. Following this direction, we also unveil a novel Kerr-Schild construction for the spacetime of two accelerating black holes, drawing on the intrinsic relationship between the Melvin-Bonnor spacetime and the C-metric. Finally, we expand the spectrum of exact gravitational solutions within Einstein-ModMax theory by constructing a vortex-like background that coexists with the Melvin-Bonnor universe. In this process, the Taub-NUT spacetime in ModMax has played a crucial role. We present this Taub-NUT solution in a different gauge that facilitates the comparison with the Melvin-Bonnor-Swirling case.

De Sitter geometric inflation from dynamical singularities

Within the framework of geometric inflation, where the Friedmann equation is modified to incorporate an infinite series of higher curvature corrections, we describe the emergence of a de Sitter inflationary phase near the poles of an arbitrary dynamical function. Our analysis is quite general and does not depend on any specific choice of cosmological dynamics.

Revisiting Buchdahl transformations: New static and rotating black holes in vacuum, double copy, and hairy extensions

This paper investigates Buchdahl transformations within the framework of Einstein and Einstein-Scalar theories. Specifically, we establish that the recently proposed Schwarzschild-Levi-Civita spacetime can be obtained by means of a Buchdahl transformation of the Schwarschild metric along the spacelike Killing vector. The study extends Buchdahl's original theorem by combining it with the Kerr-Schild representation. In doing so, we construct new vacuum-rotating black holes in higher dimensions which can be viewed as the Levi-Civita extensions of the Myers-Perry geometries. Furthermore, it demonstrates that the double copy scheme within these new generated geometries still holds, providing an example of an algebraically general double copy framework. In the context of the Einstein-Scalar system, the paper extends the corresponding Buchdahl theorem to scenarios where a static vacuum seed configuration, transformed with respect to a spacelike Killing vector, generates a hairy black hole spacetime. We analyze the geometrical features of these spacetimes and investigate how a change of frame, via conformal transformations, leads to a new family of black hole spacetimes within the Einstein-Conformal-Scalar system.

Rotating and accelerating AdS black holes in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet Gravity

We present new, exact, rotating and accelerating solutions within the framework of five-dimensional Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory at the Chern-Simons point. The rotating solutions describe black holes characterized by a single rotation parameter, a mass parameter, and two extra integration constants that can be interpreted as hairs of a gravitational nature. It is noteworthy that the rotation cannot be removed by a large diffeomorphism. We also extend our procedure to dimension seven, providing a new rotating black hole solution with two rotation parameters pertaining to cubic Lovelock theory with a unique vacuum.

Mixing "Magnetic'' and "Electric'' Ehlers--Harrison transformations: The Electromagnetic Swirling Spacetime and Novel Type I Backgrounds

In this paper, we obtain a complete list of stationary and axisymmetric spacetimes, generated from a Minkowski spacetime using the Ernst technique. We do so by operating on the associated seed potentials with a composition of Ehlers and Harrison transformations. In particular, assigning an additional ``electric'' or ``magnetic'' tag to the transformations, we investigate the new spacetimes obtained either via a composition of magnetic Ehlers and Harrison transformations (first part) or via a magnetic-electric combination (second part). In the first part, the resulting type D spacetime, dubbed electromagnetic swirling universe, features key properties, separately found in swirling and (Bonnor--)Melvin spacetimes, the latter recovered in appropriate limits. A detailed analysis of the geometry is included, and subtle issues are addressed. A detailed proof that the spacetime belongs to the Kundt family, is included, and a notable relation to the planar-Reissner-Nordstr\"om-NUT black hole is also meticulously worked out. This relation is further exploited to reverse-engineer the form of the solution in the presence of a nontrivial cosmological constant. A Schwarzschild black hole embedded into the new background is also discussed. In the second part, we present four novel stationary and axisymmetric asymptotically nonflat type I spacetimes, which are naively expected to be extensions of the Melvin or swirling solution including a NUT parameter or electromagnetic charges. We actually find that they are, under conditions, free of curvature and topological singularities, with the physical meaning of the electric transformation parameters in these backgrounds requiring further investigation.

Endorsing black holes with beyond Horndeski primary hair: An exact solution framework for scalarizing in every dimension

This work outlines a straightforward mechanism for endorsing primary hair into Schwarzschild black holes, resulting in a unique modification within the framework of a special scalar-tensor theory, the so-called beyond Horndeski type. The derived solutions are exact, showcase primary hair with an everywhere regular scalar field profile, and continuously connect with the vacuum geometry. Initially devised to introduce primary hair in spherically symmetric solutions within General Relativity in any dimension, our investigation also explores the conditions under which spherically symmetric black holes in alternative gravitational theories become amenable to the endorsement of primary hair through a similar pattern. As a preliminary exploration, we embark on the process of endorsing primary hair to the Reissner-Nordstr\"om black hole. Subsequently, we extend our analysis to encompass spherically symmetric solutions within Lovelock and cubic quasitopological gravity theories.

Pleban\'ski-Demia\'nski \`a la Ehlers-Harrison: Exact Rotating and Accelerating Type I Black Holes

Recently, it was shown that type D black holes, encompassed in the large Pleban\'ski--Demia\'nski (PD) family, exhibit a wide class of algebraically general generalizations via the application of Ehlers and Harrison transformations. In this work, we first discuss some mathematical details behind the composition of such transformations, and next, we introduce a qualitative picture of the most general type I generalization of the PD family, dubbed ``Enhanced Pleban\'ski--Demia\'nski'' spacetime. We provide the exact form of the solution in the original PD coordinates, obtained via the simultaneous action of an Ehlers and a Harrison transformation on the vacuum PD geometry. In order to make the physics more transparent, we explicitly construct a rotating and accelerating black hole which further has NUT parameter and electric charges, both of them entering, not only the event horizon, but the Rindler horizon as well. This solution is directly obtained in the ``physical'' coordinates recently proposed by Podolsk\'y and Vr\'atny. Finally, a pedagogical appendix is thoughtfully included, providing readers with a user-friendly step-by-step guide to the Ernst formalism, in an attempt to address and resolve various minor inconsistencies frequently appearing in the relevant literature.

Exploring Accelerating Hairy Black Holes in $2+1$ Dimensions: The Asymptotically Locally Anti-de Sitter Class and its Holography

In the realm of lower-dimensional accelerating spacetimes, it is well-established that the presence of domain walls, which are co-dimension one topological defects, is a necessary condition for their construction. We expand the geometric framework by adding a conformally coupled scalar field. This endeavor leads to the identification of several new families of three-dimensional accelerating spacetimes with asymptotically locally anti-de Sitter (AdS) behavior. Notably, one of these solutions showcases a hairy generalization of the accelerating BTZ black hole. This solution is constructed at both slow and rapid phases of acceleration, and its connection with established vacuum spacetime models is explicitly elucidated. The inclusion of the scalar field imparts a non-constant Ricci curvature to the domain wall, thereby rendering these configurations particularly suitable for the construction of two-dimensional quantum black holes. To establish a well-posed variational principle in the presence of the domain wall, two essential steps are undertaken. First, we extend the conventional renormalized AdS$_3$ action to accommodate the presence of the scalar field. Second, to establish a well-posed variational principle, we extend the renormalized AdS$_3$ action to include the scalar field and incorporate the Gibbons--Hawking--York term for internal boundaries and domain wall tension. We engage in holographic computations, thereby determining the explicit form of the holographic stress tensor. In this context, the stress tensor can be expressed as that of a perfect fluid situated on a curved background. Additionally, it paves the road to ascertain the spacetime mass. Finally, we close by demonstrating the existence of three-dimensional accelerating spacetimes with asymptotically locally flat and asymptotically locally de Sitter geometries, particularly those embodying black holes.

Accelerating Black Holes in $2+1$ dimensions: Holography revisited

This paper studies the holographic description of $2+1-$dimensional accelerating black holes. We start by using an ADM decomposition of the coordinates suitable to identify boundary data. As a consequence, the holographic CFT lies in a fixed curved background which is described by the holographic stress tensor of a perfect fluid. We compute the Euclidean action ensuring that the variational principle is satisfied in the presence of the domain wall. This requires including the Gibbons--Hawking--York term associated with internal boundaries on top of the standard renormalised AdS$_{3}$ action. Finally, we compute the entanglement entropy by firstly mapping the solution to the Rindler--AdS spacetime in which the Ryu--Takayanagi surface is easily identifiable. We found that as the acceleration increases the accessible region of the conformal boundary decreases and also the entanglement entropy, indicating a loss of information in the dual theory due to acceleration.
