Cohomologies of complex manifolds with symplectic $(1,1)$-forms

Let $(X, J)$ be a complex manifold with a non-degenerated smooth $d$-closed $(1,1)$-form $ω$. Then we have a natural double complex $\overline{\partial}+\overline{\partial}^Λ$, where $\overline{\partial}^Λ$ denotes the symplectic adjoint of the $\overline{\partial}$-operator. We study the Hard Lefschetz Condition on the Dolbeault cohomology groups of $X$ with respect to the symplectic form $ω$. In \cite{TW}, we proved that such a condition is equivalent to a certain symplectic analogous of the $\partial\overline{\partial}$-Lemma, namely the $\overline{\partial}\, \overline{\partial}^Λ$-Lemma, which can be characterized in terms of Bott--Chern and Aeppli cohomologies associated to the above double complex. We obtain Nomizu type theorems for the Bott--Chern and Aeppli cohomologies and we show that the $\overline{\partial}\, \overline{\partial}^Λ$-Lemma is stable under small deformations of $ω$, but not stable under small deformations of the complex structure. However, if we further assume that $X$ satisfies the $\partial\overline{\partial}$-Lemma then the $\overline{\partial}\, \overline{\partial}^Λ$-Lemma is stable.

Differential operators on almost-Hermitian manifolds and harmonic forms

We consider several differential operators on compact almost-complex, almost-Hermitian and almost-Kähler manifolds. We discuss Hodge Theory for these operators and a possible cohomological interpretation. We compare the associated spaces of harmonic forms and cohomologies with the classical de Rham, Dolbeault, Bott-Chern and Aeppli cohomologies.

Aeppli cohomology and Gauduchon metrics

Let $(M,J,g,ω)$ be a complete Hermitian manifold of complex dimension $n\ge2$. Let $1\le p\le n-1$ and assume that $ω^{n-p}$ is $(\partial+\overline{\partial})$-bounded. We prove that, if $ψ$ is an $L^2$ and $d$-closed $(p,0)$-form on $M$, then $ψ=0$. In particular, if $M$ is compact, we derive that if the Aeppli class of $ω^{n-p}$ vanishes, then $H^{p,0}_{BC}(M)=0$. As a special case, if $M$ admits a Gauduchon metric $ω$ such that the Aeppli class of $ω^{n-1}$ vanishes, then $H^{1,0}_{BC}(M)=0$.

Kodaira dimension of almost Kähler manifolds and curvature of the canonical connection

The notion of Kodaira dimension has recently been extended to general almost complex manifolds. In this paper we focus on the Kodaira dimension of almost Kähler manifolds, providing an explicit computation for a family of almost Kähler threefolds on the differentiable manifold underlying a Nakamura manifold. We concentrate also on the link between Kodaira dimension and the curvature of the canonical connection of an almost Kähler manifold, and show that in the previous example (and in another one obtained from a Kodaira surface) the Ricci curvature of the almost Kähler metric vanishes for all the members of the family.

Bott-Chern Harmonic Forms on Stein Manifolds

Let $M$ be an $n$-dimensional $d$-bounded Stein manifold $M$, i.e., a complex $n$-dimensional manifold $M$ admitting a smooth strictly plurisubharmonic exhaustion $ρ$ and endowed with the Kähler metric whose fundamental form is $ω=i\partial\overline{\partial}ρ$, such that $i\overline{\partial}ρ$ has bounded $L^\infty$ norm. We prove a vanishing result for $W^{1,2}$ harmonic forms with respect to the Bott-Chern Laplacian on $M$.

Symplectic cohomologies and deformations

In this note we study the behavior of symplectic cohomology groups under symplectic deformations. Moreover, we show that for compact almost-Kähler manifolds $(X,J,g,ω)$ with $J$ $\mathcal{C}^\infty$-pure and full the space of de Rham harmonic forms is contained in the space of symplectic-Bott-Chern harmonic forms. Furthermore, we prove that the second non-HLC degree measures the gap between the de Rham and the symplectic-Bott-Chern harmonic forms.

$\partial\bar{\partial}$-complex symplectic and Calabi-Yau manifolds: Albanese map, deformations and period maps

Let $X$ be a compact complex manifold with trivial canonical bundle and satisfying the $\partial\bar{\partial}$-Lemma. We show that the Kuranishi space of $X$ is a smooth universal deformation and that small deformations enjoy the same properties as $X$. If, in addition, $X$ admits a complex symplectic form, then the local Torelli theorem holds and we obtain some information about the period map. We clarify the structure of such manifolds a little by showing that the Albanese map is a surjective submersion.

On non-Kähler degrees of complex manifolds

We study cohomological properties of complex manifolds. In particular, under suitable metric conditions, we extend to higher dimensions a result by A. Teleman, which provides an upper bound for the Bott-Chern cohomology in terms of Betti numbers for compact complex surfaces according to the dichotomy $b_1$ even or odd.

Complex symplectic structures and the $\partial \bar{\partial}$-lemma

In this paper we study complex symplectic manifolds, i.e., compact complex manifolds $X$ which admit a holomorphic $(2, 0)$-form $σ$ which is $d$-closed and non-degenerate, and in particular the Beauville-Bogomolov-Fujiki quadric $Q_σ$ associated to them. We will show that if X satisfies the $\partial \bar{\partial}$-lemma, then $Q_σ$ is smooth if and only if $h^{2,0}(X) = 1$ and is irreducible if and only if $h^{1,1}(X) > 0$.

On $L_2$-cohomology of almost Hermitian manifolds

Let $(X,J,ω,g)$ be a complete $n$-dimensional Kähler manifold. A Theorem by Gromov \cite{G} states that the if the Kähler form is $d$-bounded, then the space of harmonic $L_2$ forms of degree $k$ is trivial, unless $k=\frac{n}{2}$. Starting with a contact manifold $(M,α)$ we show that the same conclusion does not hold in the category of almost Kähler manifolds. Let $(X,J,g)$ be a complete almost Hermitian manifold of dimension four. We prove that the reduced $L_2$ $2^{nd}$-cohomology group decomposes as direct sum of the closure of the invariant and anti-invariant $L_2$-cohomology. This generalizes a decomposition theorem by Drǎghici, Li and Zhang \cite{DLZ} for $4$-dimensional closed almost complex manifolds to the $L_2$-setting.

Hermitian ranks of compact complex manifolds

We investigate degenerate special-Hermitian metrics on compact complex manifolds, in particular, degenerate Kähler and locally conformally Kähler metrics on special classes of non-Kähler manifolds.

On the cohomology of almost complex and symplectic manifolds and proper surjective maps

Let $(X,J)$ be an almost-complex manifold. In \cite{li-zhang} Li and Zhang introduce $H^{(p,q),(q,p)}_J(X)_{\rr}$ as the cohomology subgroups of the $(p+q)$-th de Rham cohomology group formed by classes represented by real pure-type forms. Given a proper, surjective, pseudo-holomorphic map between two almost-complex manifolds we study the relationship among such cohomology groups. Similar results are proven in the symplectic setting for the cohomology groups introduced in \cite{tsengyauI} by Tseng and Yau and a new characterization of the Hard Lefschetz condition in dimension $4$ is provided.

On Bott-Chern cohomology of compact complex surfaces

We study Bott-Chern cohomology on compact complex non-Kähler surfaces. In particular, we compute such a cohomology for compact complex surfaces in class $\text{VII}$ and for compact complex surfaces diffeomorphic to solvmanifolds.

On geometric Bott-Chern formality and deformations

A notion of geometric formality in the context of Bott-Chern and Aeppli cohomologies on a complex manifold is discussed. In particular, by using Aeppli-Bott-Chern-Massey triple products, it is proved that geometric Aeppli-Bott-Chern formality is not stable under small deformations of the complex structure.

Inequalities à la Frölicher and cohomological decompositions

We study Bott-Chern and Aeppli cohomologies of a vector space endowed with two anti-commuting endomorphisms whose square is zero. In particular, we prove an inequality à la Frölicher relating the dimensions of the Bott-Chern and Aeppli cohomologies to the dimensions of the Dolbeault cohomologies. We prove that the equality in such an inequality à la Frölicher characterizes the validity of the so-called cohomological property of satisfying the $\partial\overline{\partial}$-Lemma. As an application, we study cohomological properties of compact either complex, or symplectic, or, more in general, generalized-complex manifolds.
