On S-duality for holographic p-wave superconductors

We consider the generalization of the S-duality transformation previously investigated in the context of the FQHE and s-wave superconductivity to p-wave superconductivity in 2+1 dimensions in the framework of the AdS/CFT correspondence. The vector Cooper condensate transforms under the S-duality action to the pseudovector condensate at the dual side. The 3+1-dimensional Einstein-Yang-Mills theory, the holographic dual to p-wave superconductivity, is used to investigate the S-duality action via the AdS/CFT correspondence. It is shown that in order to implement the duality transformation, chemical potentials both on the electric and magnetic side of the duality have to be introduced. A relation for the product of the nonabelian conductivities in the dual models is derived. We also conjecture a flavor S-duality transformation in the holographic dual to 3+1-dimensional QCD low-energy QCD with non-abelian flavor gauge groups. The conjectured S-duality interchanges isospin and baryonic chemical potentials.

Baryon and chiral symmetry breaking in holographic QCD

We study the relationship between chiral symmetry breaking and baryons in holographic QCD. We construct a soliton with unit baryon charge in the presence of a nonzero mean value of the scalar bifundamental field, which is dual to the chiral condensate. We obtain a relation between the chiral condensate and the mass of the baryon and find in a clear-cut way that at large values of the condensate the holographic soliton is no longer located on the IR wall. Instead it is split into two halves, which are symmetrically located on the left and right flavor branes. On the other hand we find that the local value of the quark condensate is suppressed in the core of the soliton, which is evidence for a partial chiral symmetry restoration inside the baryon.

BPS states in the Omega-background and torus knots

We clarify some issues concerning the central charges saturated by the extended objects in the SUSY $U(1)$ $4d$ gauge theory in the $Ω$-background. The configuration involving the monopole localized at the domain wall is considered in some details. At the rational ratio $\frac{ε_1}{ε_2}=\frac{p}{q}$ the trajectory of the monopole provides the torus $(p,q)$ knot in the squashed three-sphere. Using the relation between the integrable systems of Calogero type at the rational couplings and the torus knots we interpret this configuration in terms of the auxiliary $2d$ quiver theory or $3d$ theory with nontrivial boundary conditions. This realization can be considered as the AGT-like representation of the torus knot invariants.

Atomic collapse in graphene and cyclic RG flow

In this Letter we consider the problem of screening of external charge in graphene from the cyclic RG flow viewpoint. The analogy with conformal Calogero model is used to suggest the interpretation of the tower of resonant states as tower of Efimov states.

BPS States in Omega Background and Integrability

We reconsider string and domain wall central charges in N=2 supersymmetric gauge theories in four dimensions in presence of the Omega background in the Nekrasov-Shatashvili (NS) limit. Existence of these charges entails presence of the corresponding topological defects in the theory - vortices and domain walls. In spirit of the 4d/2d duality we discuss the worldsheet low energy effective theory living on the BPS vortex in N=2 Supersymmetric Quantum Chromodynamics (SQCD). We discuss some aspects of the brane realization of the dualities between various quantum integrable models. A chain of such dualities enables us to check the AGT correspondence in the NS limit.

SQCD, Superconducting Gaps and Cyclic RG Flows

We consider the relation between the Ω-deformed N=2 SQCD with the single deformation parameter and integrable models of the BCS-like superconductivity. It is argued that the vortex string worldsheet theory is related to the Russian Doll(RD) model of the truncated BCS superconductivity. We argue that the Ω-deformed gauge theory manifests the interesting cyclic RG behavior with the period of the RG cycle proportional to ε^{-1}. The deformed gauge theory can develop several non-perturbative scales. We conjecture on the monopole bound state interpretation of the Efimov tower.

Magnetic susceptibility of the quark condensate via holography

We discuss the holographic derivation of the magnetic susceptibility of the quark condensate. It is found that the susceptibility emerges upon the account of the Chern-Simons term in the holographic action. We demonstrate that Vainshtein's relation is not exact in the hard wall dual model but is fulfilled with high accuracy. Some comments concerning the spectral density of the Dirac operator are presented.

Amplitudes in the N=4 SYM from Quantum Geometry of the Momentum Space

We discuss multiloop MHV amplitudes in the N=4 SYM theory in terms of effective gravity in the momentum space with IR regulator branes as degrees of freedom. Kinematical invariants of external particles yield the moduli spaces of complex or Kahler structures which are the playgrounds for the Kodaira-Spencer(KS) or Kahler type gravity. We suggest fermionic representation of the loop MHV amplitudes in the N=4 SYM theory assuming the identification of the IR regulator branes with KS fermions in the B model and Lagrangian branes in A model. The two-easy mass box diagram is related to the correlator of fermionic currents on the spectral curve in B model or hyperbolic volume in the A model and it plays the role of a building block in the whole picture. The BDS-like anzatz has the interpretation as the semiclassical limit of a fermionic correlator. It is argued that fermionic representation implies a kind of integrability on the moduli spaces. We conjecture the interpretation of the reggeon degrees of freedom in terms of the open strings stretched between the IR regulator branes.

On Classification of QCD defects via holography

We discuss classification of defects of various codimensions within a holographic model of pure Yang-Mills theories or gauge theories with fundamental matter. We focus on their role below and above the phase transition point as well as their weights in the partition function. The general result is that objects which are stable and heavy in one phase are becoming very light (tensionless) in the other phase. We argue that the $θ$ dependence of the partition function drastically changes at the phase transition point, and therefore it correlates with stability properties of configurations. Some possible applications for study the QCD vacuum properties above and below phase transition are also discussed.

Condensates near the Argyres-Douglas point in SU(2) gauge theory with broken N=2 supersymmetry

The behaviour of the chiral condensates in the SU(2) gauge theory with broken N=2 supersymmetry is reviewed. The calculation of monopole, dyon, and charge condensates is described. It is shown that the monopole and charge condensates vanish at the Argyres-Douglas point where the monopole and charge vacua collide. This phenomenon is interpreted as a deconfinement of electric and magnetic charges at the Argyres-Douglas point.

Brane tunneling and the Brane World scenario

Fate of branes in external fields is reviewed. Spontaneous creation of the Brane World in $AdS_{5}$ with external field is described. The resulting Brane World consists of a flat 4d spatially finite expanding Universe and curved expanding "regulator" branes. All branes have a positive tension.

Branes and integrability in the N=2 SUSY YM theory

We suggest the brane interpretation of the integrable dynamics behind the exact solution to the N=2 SUSY YM theory. Degrees of freedom of the Calogero type integrable system responsible for the appearance of the spectral Riemann surfaces originate from the collective coordinates of the dynamical branes. The second Whitham type integrable system corresponds to the low energy scattering of branes similar to the scattering of the magnetic monopoles.

Peierls model and vacuum structure in N=2 supersymmetric gauge theories

We suggest the quasiparticle picture behind the integrable structure of N=2 SYM theory, which arises if the Lax operator is considered as a Hamiltonian for the fermionic system. We compare the meaning of BPS states with the one coming from the D-brane interpretation and give some evidence for the compositeness of the selfdual strings. The temperature phase transition with the disappearance of the mass gap is conjectured.

Threshold amplitudes in field theories and integrable systems

We discuss the threshold tree amplitudes in diverse nonintegrable quantum field theories in the framework of integrability. The amplitudes are related to some Baker functions defined on the auxiliary spectral curves and the nullification phenomena are shown to allow a topological interpretation.

Integrable many-body problems from the field theories

We review recent results which clarify the role of the integrable many-body problems in the quantum field theory framework. They describe the dynamics of the topological degrees of freedom in the theories which are obtained by perturbing the topological ones by the proper Hamiltonians and sources. Interpretation of the many-body dynamics as a motion on the different moduli spaces as well as the property of duality is discussed.Tower of many-body systems can be derived from a tower of the field theories with appropriate phase spaces which have a transparent interpretation in terms of the group theory. The appearance of Calogero-type systems in different physical phenomena is mentioned.

Relativistic Calogero-Moser model as gauged WZW theory

We study quantum intergrable systems of interacting particles from the point of view, proposed in our previous paper. We obtain Calogero-Moser and Sutherland systems as well their Ruijsenaars relativistic generalization by a Hamiltonian reduction of integrable systems on the cotangent bundles over semi-simple Lie algebras, their affine algebras and central extensions of loop groups respectively. The corresponding 2d field theories form a tower of deformations. The top of this tower is gauged G/G WZW model on a cylinder with inserted Wilson line in appropriate representation.
