A spectral cocycle for substitution systems and translation flows

For substitution systems and translation flows, a new cocycle, which we call {\em spectral cocycle}, is introduced, whose Lyapunov exponents govern the local dimension of the spectral measure for higher-level cylindrical functions. The construction relies on the symbolic representation of translation flows and the formalism of matrix Riesz products.

On the Rate of Convergence in the Central Limit Theorem for Linear Statistics of Gaussian, Laguerre, and Jacobi Ensembles

Under the Kolmogorov--Smirnov metric, an upper bound on the rate of convergence to the Gaussian distribution is obtained for linear statistics of the matrix ensembles in the case of the Gaussian, Laguerre, and Jacobi weights. The main lemma gives an estimate for the characteristic functions of the linear statistics; this estimate is uniform over the growing interval. The proof of the lemma relies on the Riemann--Hilbert approach.

The sine-process has excess one

The main result of this paper is that almost every realization of the sine-process with one particle removed is a uniqueness set for the Paley-Wiener space; with two particles removed, a zero set for the Paley-Wiener space.

Patterson-Sullivan measures for point processes and the reconstruction of harmonic functions

The Patterson-Sullivan construction is proved almost surely to recover every harmonic function in a certain Banach space from its values on the zero set of a Gaussian analytic function on the disk. The argument relies on the slow growth of variance for linear statistics of the concerned point process. As a corollary of reconstruction result in general abstract setting, Patterson-Sullivan reconstruction of harmonic functions is obtained in real and complex hyperbolic spaces of arbitrary dimension.

A hierarchy of Palm measures for determinantal point processes with gamma kernels

The gamma kernels are a family of projection kernels $K^{(z,z')}=K^{(z,z')}(x,y)$ on a doubly infinite $1$-dimensional lattice. They are expressed through Euler's gamma function and depend on two continuous parameters $z,z'$. The gamma kernels initially arose from a model of random partitions via a limit transition. On the other hand, these kernels are closely related to unitarizable representations of the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{su}(1,1)$. Every gamma kernel $K^{(z,z')}$ serves as a correlation kernel for a determinantal measure $M^{(z,z')}$, which lives on the space of infinite point configurations on the lattice. We examine chains of kernels of the form $$ \ldots, K^{(z-1,z'-1)}, \; K^{(z,z')},\; K^{(z+1,z'+1)}, \ldots, $$ and establish the following hierarchical relations inside any such chain: Given $(z,z')$, the kernel $K^{(z,z')}$ is a one-dimensional perturbation of (a twisting of) the kernel $K^{(z+1,z'+1)}$, and the one-point Palm distributions for the measure $M^{(z,z')}$ are absolutely continuous with respect to $M^{(z+1,z'+1)}$. We also explicitly compute the corresponding Radon-Nikodým derivatives and show that they are given by certain normalized multiplicative functionals.

Kernels of conditional determinantal measures and the proof of the Lyons-Peres Conjecture

The main result of this paper, Theorem 1.5, establishes a conjecture of Lyons and Peres: for a determinantal point process governed by a reproducing kernel, the system of kernels sampled at the particles of a random configuration is complete in the range of the kernel. A key step in the proof, Lemma 1.11, states that conditioning on the configuration in a subset preserves the determinantal property, and the main Lemma 1.12 is a new local property for kernels of conditional point processes. In Theorem 1.7 we prove the triviality of the tail sigma-algebra for determinantal point processes governed by self-adjoint kernels.

Division subspaces and integrable kernels

In this note we prove that the reproducing kernel of a Hilbert space satisfying the division property has integrable form, is locally of trace class, and the Hilbert space itself is a Hilbert space of holomorphic functions.

On Number Rigidity for Pfaffian Point Processes

Our first result states that the orthogonal and symplectic Bessel processes are rigid in the sense of Ghosh and Peres. Our argument in the Bessel case proceeds by an estimate of the variance of additive statistics in the spirit of Ghosh and Peres. Second, a sufficient condition for number rigidity of stationary Pfaffian processes, relying on the Kolmogorov criterion for interpolation of stationary processes and applicable, in particular, to pfaffian sine-processes, is given in terms of the asymptotics of the spectral measure for additive statistics.

A functional limit theorem for the sine-process

The main result of this paper is a functional limit theorem for the sine-process. In particular, we study the limit distribution, in the space of trajectories, for the number of particles in a growing interval. The sine-process has the Kolmogorov property and satisfies the Central Limit Theorem, but our functional limit theorem is very different from the Donsker Invariance Principle. We show that the time integral of our process can be approximated by the sum of a linear Gaussian process and independent Gaussian fluctuations whose covariance matrix is computed explicitly. We interpret these results in terms of the Gaussian Free Field convergence for the random matrix models. The proof relies on a general form of the multidimensional Central Limit Theorem under the sine-process for linear statistics of two types: those having growing variance and those with bounded variance corresponding to observables of Sobolev regularity $1/2$.

The logarithmic derivative for point processes with equivalent Palm measures

The logarithmic derivative of a point process plays a key role in the general approach, due to the third author, to constructing diffusions preserving a given point process. In this paper we explicitly compute the logarithmic derivative for determinantal processes on $\mathbb{R}$ with integrable kernels, a large class that includes all the classical processes of random matrix theory as well as processes associated with de Branges spaces. The argument uses the quasi-invariance of our processes established by the first author.

On ergodic averages for parabolic product flows

We consider a direct product of a suspension flow over a substitution dynamical system and an arbitrary ergodic flow and give quantitative estimates for the speed of convergence for ergodic integrals of such systems. Our argument relies on new uniform estimates of the spectral measure for suspension flows over substitution dynamical systems. The paper answers a question by Jon Chaika.

Conditional measures of generalized Ginibre point processes

The main result of this paper is that conditional measures of generalized Ginibre point processes, with respect to the configuration in the complement of a bounded open subset on $\mathbb{C}$, are orthogonal polynomial ensembles with weights found explicitly. An especially simple formula for conditional measures is obtained in the particular case of radially-symmetric determinantal point processes, including the classical Ginibre point process.

Equivalence of Palm measures for determinantal point processes governed by Bergman kernels

For a determinantal point process induced by the reproducing kernel of the weighted Bergman space $A^2(U, ω)$ over a domain $U \subset \mathbb{C}^d$, we establish the mutual absolute continuity of reduced Palm measures of any order provided that the domain $U$ contains a non-constant bounded holomorphic function. The result holds in all dimensions. The argument uses the $H^\infty(U)$-module structure of $A^2(U, ω)$. A corollary is the quasi-invariance of our determinantal point process under the natural action of the group of compactly supported diffeomorphisms of $U$.

The Hoelder Property for the Spectrum of Translation Flows in Genus Two

The paper is devoted to generic translation flows corresponding to Abelian differentials with one zero of order two on flat surfaces of genus two. These flows are weakly mixing by the Avila-Forni theorem. Our main result gives first quantitative estimates on their spectrum, establishing the Hoelder property for the spectral measures of Lipschitz functions. The proof proceeds via uniform estimates of twisted Birkhoff integrals in the symbolic framework of random Markov compacta and arguments of Diophantine nature in the spirit of Salem, Erdos and Kahane.

Quasi-Symmetries of Determinantal Point Processes

The main result of this paper is that determinantal point processes on the real line corresponding to projection operators with integrable kernels are quasi-invariant, in the continuous case, under the group of diffeomorphisms with compact support (Theorem 1.4); in the discrete case, under the group of all finite permutations of the phase space (Theorem 1.6). The Radon-Nikodym derivative is computed explicitly and is given by a regularized multiplicative functional. Theorem 1.4 applies, in particular, to the sine-process, as well as to determinantal point processes with the Bessel and the Airy kernels; Theorem 1.6 to the discrete sine-process and the Gamma kernel process. The paper answers a question of Grigori Olshanski.

Determinantal point processes associated with Hilbert spaces of holomorphic functions

We study determinantal point processes on $\mathbb{C}$ induced by the reproducing kernels of generalized Fock spaces as well as those on the unit disc $\mathbb{D}$ induced by the reproducing kernels of generalized Bergman spaces. In the first case, we show that all reduced Palm measures $\textit{of the same order}$ are equivalent. The Radon-Nikodym derivatives are computed explicitly using regularized multiplicative functionals. We also show that these determinantal point processes are rigid in the sense of Ghosh and Peres, hence reduced Palm measures $\textit{of different orders}$ are singular. In the second case, we show that all reduced Palm measures, $\textit{of all orders}$, are equivalent. The Radon-Nikodym derivatives are computed using regularized multiplicative functionals associated with certain Blaschke products. The quasi-invariance of these determinantal point processes under the group of diffeomorphisms with compact supports follows as a corollary.

Linear rigidity of stationary stochastic processes

We consider stationary stochastic processes $X_n$, $n\in \mathbb{Z}$ such that $X_0$ lies in the closed linear span of $X_n$, $n\neq 0$; following Ghosh and Peres, we call such processes linearly rigid. Using a criterion of Kolmogorov, we show that it suffices, for a stationary stochastic process to be rigid, that the spectral density vanish at zero and belong to the Zygmund class $Λ_{*}(1)$. We next give sufficient condition for stationary determinantal point processes on $\mathbb{Z}$ and on $\mathbb{R}$ to be rigid. Finally, we show that the determinantal point process on $\mathbb{R}^2$ induced by a tensor square of Dyson sine-kernels is $\textit{not}$ linearly rigid.
