Deflection of light by rotating regular black holes using the Gauss-Bonnet theorem

In this paper, we study the weak gravitational lensing in the spacetime of rotating regular black hole geometries such as Ayon-Beato-García (ABG), Bardeen, and Hayward black holes. We calculate the deflection angle of light using the Gauss-Bonnet theorem (GBT) and show that the deflection of light can be viewed as a partially topological effect in which the deflection angle can be calculated by considering a domain outside of the light ray applied to the black hole optical geometries. Then, we demonstrate also the deflection angle via the geodesics formalism for these black holes to verify our results and explore the differences with the Kerr solution. These black holes have in addition to the total mass and rotation parameter, different parameters as electric charge, magnetic charge, and deviation parameter. Newsworthy, we find that the deflection of light has correction terms coming from these parameters which generalizes the Kerr deflection angle.

Falsifying cosmological models based on a non-linear electrodynamics

Recently, the nonlinear electrodynamics (NED) has been gaining attention to generate primordial magnetic fields in the Universe and also to resolve singularity problems. Moreover, recent works have shown the crucial role of the NED on the inflation. This paper provides a new approach based on a new model of NED as a source of gravitation to remove the cosmic singularity at the big bang and explain the cosmic acceleration during the inflation era on the background of stochastic magnetic field. Also, we found a realization of a cyclic Universe, free of initial singularity, due to the proposed NED energy density. In addition, we explore whether a NED field without or with matter can be the origin of the late-time acceleration. For this we obtain explicit equations for $H(z)$ and perform a MCMC analysis to constrain the NED parameters by using $31$ observational Hubble data (OHD) obtained from cosmic chronometers covering the redshift range $0 < z < 1.97$; and with the joint-light-analysis (JLA) SNIa compilation consisting in $740$ data points in the range $0.01<z<1.2$. All our constraints on the current magnetic field give $B_{0}\sim 10^{-31}\mathrm{cm^{-1}}$, which are larger than the upper limit $10^{-33}\mathrm{cm^{-1}}$ by the Planck satellite implying that NED cosmologies could not be suitable to explain the Universe late-time dynamics. However, the current data is able to falsify the scenario at late times. Indeed, one is able to reconstruct the deceleration parameter $q(z)$ using the best fit values of the parameters obtained from OHD and SNIa data sets. If the matter component is not included, the data sets predict an accelerated phase in the early Universe, but a non accelerated Universe is preferred in the current epoch...

Hawking radiation and propagation of massive charged scalar field on a three-dimensional Gödel black hole

In this paper we consider the three-dimensional Gödel black hole as a background and we study the vector particle tunneling from this background in order to obtain the Hawking temperature. Then, we study the propagation of a massive charged scalar field and we find the quasinormal modes analytically, which turns out be unstable as a consequence of the existence of closed time-like curves. Also, we consider the flux at the horizon and at infinity, and we compute the reflection and transmission coefficients as well as the absorption cross section. Mainly, we show that massive charged scalar waves can be superradiantly amplified by the three-dimensional Gödel black hole and that the coefficients have an oscillatory behavior. Moreover, the absorption cross section is null at the high frequency limit and for certain values of the frequency.

Effect of the cosmological constant on the deflection angle by a rotating cosmic string

We report the effect of the cosmological constant and the internal energy density of a cosmic string on the deflection angle of light in the spacetime of a rotating cosmic string with internal structure. We first revisit the deflection angle by a rotating cosmic string and then provide a generalization using the geodesic equations and the Gauss-Bonnet Theorem. We show there is an agreement between the two methods when employing higher order terms of the linear mass density of the cosmic string. By modifying the integration domain for the global conical topology, we resolve the inconsistency between these two methods previously reported in the literature. We show that the deflection angle is not affected by the rotation of the cosmic string; however, the cosmological constant $Λ$ strongly affects the deflection angle, which generalizes the well-known result.

Gravitational lensing by wormholes supported by electromagnetic, scalar, and quantum effects

Wormholes are one of the most interesting topological features in spacetime, offering a rat run between two vastly separated regions of the universe. In this paper, we study the deflection angle of light by wormholes, which are supported by electric charge, magnetic charge, and scalar fields in the weak field limit approximation. To this end, we apply new geometric methods -- the Gauss-Bonnet theorem and the optical geometry -- to compute the deflection angles. We also verify our findings by using the well-known geodesics method. There exists a similarity between the charge and the quantum corrections on a black hole solution, which has been recently discussed in the context of the relativistic Bohmian quantum mechanics. By replacing classical geodesics with Bohmian trajectories, we introduce a new wormhole solution, whose having matter sources and anisotropic pressure supported by Bohmian quantum effects. The problem of fulfillment of the energy conditions of the Morris-Thorne traversable wormhole is also discussed.

$P-v$ criticality of a specific black hole in $f(R)$ gravity coupled with Yang-Mills field

In this paper, we study the $P-v$ criticality of a specific charged AdS type black hole (SBH) in $f(R)$ gravity coupled with Yang-Mills field. In the extended phase space, we treat the cosmological constant as a thermodynamic pressure. After we study the various thermodynamical quantities, we show that the thermodynamic properties of the SBH behave as a Van der Waals liquid-gas system at the critical points and there is a first order phase transition between small-large SBH.

Complexity growth rates for AdS black holes with dyonic/ nonlinear charge/ stringy hair/ topological defects

In a seminal paper by Brown et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 116, no. 19, 191301 (2016)] a new conjecture was proposed, namely it was argued that the quantum complexity of a holographic state is equal to action of a Wheeler-DeWitt patch in the late time limit suggesting that the fastest computer in nature are the black holes. Motivated by this conjecture, in the present paper, we study the action growth rate for different types of black holes such as dyonic, nonlinear charge, stringy hair, black hole with a global monopole and a cosmic string. In general we find that action growth rates of the Wheeler-DeWitt patch is finite for these black holes at the late time approach and satisfy the Lloyd bound on the rate of quantum computation. Furthermore, in the case of a charged as well as the neutral black hole with a global monopole and a conical defect we show that the form of the Lloyd bound relation remains unaltered but the energy is modified due to the nontrivial global topology of the spacetime.

Gravitational Lensing by Rotating Wormholes

In this paper the deflection angle of light by a rotating Teo wormhole spacetime is calculated in the weak limit approximation. We mainly focus on the weak deflection angle by revealing the gravitational lensing as a partially global topological effect. We apply the Gauss-Bonnet theorem (GBT) to the optical geometry osculating the Teo-Randers wormhole optical geometry to calculate the deflection angle. Furthermore we find the same result using the standard geodesic method. We have found that the deflection angle can be written as a sum of two terms, namely the first term is proportional to the throat of the wormhole and depends entirely on the geometry, while the second term is proportional to the spin angular momentum parameter of the wormhole. A direct observation using lensing can shed light and potentially test the nature of rotating wormholes by comparing with the black holes systems.

Stability of Effective Thin-shell Wormholes Under Lorentz Symmetry Breaking Supported by Dark Matter and Dark Energy

In this paper, we construct generic, spherically symmetric thin-shell wormholes and check their stabilities using the unified dark sector, including dark energy and dark matter. We give a master equation, from which one can recover, as a special case, other stability solutions for generic spherically symmetric thin-shell wormholes. In this context, we consider a particular solution; namely we construct an effective thin-shell wormhole under Lorentz symmetry breaking. We explore stability analyses using different models of the modified Chaplygin gas with constraints from cosmological observations such as seventh-year full Wilkinson microwave anisotropy probe data points, type Ia supernovae, and baryon acoustic oscillation. In all these models we find stable solutions by choosing suitable values for the parameters of the Lorentz symmetry breaking effect.

Quantum Tunneling and Quasinormal Modes in the Spacetime of Alcubierre Warp Drive

In a seminal paper, Alcubierre showed that Einstein's theory of general relativity appears to allow a super-luminal motion. In the present study, we use a recent eternal-warp-drive solution found by Alcubierre to study the effect of Hawking radiation upon an observer located within the warp drive in the framework of the quantum tunneling method. We find the same expression for the Hawking temperatures associated with the tunneling of both massive vector and scalar particles, and show this expression to be proportional to the velocity of the warp drive. On the other hand, since the discovery of gravitational waves, the quasinormal modes (QNMs) of black holes have also been extensively studied. With this puprpose in mind, we perform a QNM analysis of massive scalar field perturbations in the background of the eternal-Alcubierre-warp-drive (EAWD) spacetime. Our analytical analysis shows that massive scalar perturbations lead to stable QNMs.

Relativistic Bose--Einstein condensates thin-shell wormholes

We construct traversable thin-shell wormholes which are asymptotically Ads/dS applying the cut and paste procedure for the case of an acoustic metric created by a relativistic Bose-Einstein condensate. We examine several definitions of the flare-out condition along with the violation or not of the energy conditions for such relativistic geometries. Under reasonable assumptions about the equation of state of the matter located at the shell, we concentrate on the mechanical stability of wormholes under radial perturbation preserving the original spherical symmetry. To do so, we consider linearized perturbations around static solutions. We obtain that dS acoustic wormholes remain stable under radial perturbations as long as they have small radius, such wormholes with finite radius do not violate the strong/null energy condition. Besides, we show that stable Ads wormhole satisfy some of the energy conditions whereas unstable Ads wormhole with large radii violate them.

Light deflection by charged wormholes in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory

In this paper, we study the deflection of light by a class of charged wormholes within the context of the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory. The primordial wormholes are predicted to exist in the early universe, where inflation driven by the dilaton field. We perform our analysis through optical geometry using the Gibbons-Werner method (GW), by adopting the Gauss-Bonnet theorem and the standard geodesics approach. We report an interesting result for the deflection angle in leading-order terms--namely, the deflection angle increases due to the electric charge $Q$ and the magnetic charge $P$, whereas it decreases due to the dilaton charge $Σ$. Finally, we confirm our findings by means of geodesics equations. Our computations show that the GW method gives an exact result in leading order terms.

Stable Dyonic Thin-Shell Wormholes in Low-Energy String Theory

Considerable attention has been devoted to the wormhole physics in the past 30 years by exploring the possibilities of finding traversable wormholes without the need of exotic matter. In particular the thin-shell wormhole formalism has been widely investigated by exploiting the cut-and-paste technique to merge two space-time regions and, to research the stability of these wormholes developed by Visser. This method helps us to minimize the amount of the exotic matter. In this paper we construct a four dimensional, spherically symmetric, dyonic thin-shell wormhole with electric charge $Q$, magnetic charge $P$, and dilaton charge $Σ$, in the context of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory. We have applied Darmois-Israel formalism and the cut-and-paste method by joining together two identical spacetime solutions. We carry out the dyonic thin-shell wormhole stability analyses by using a linear barotropic gas, Chaplygin gas, and logarithmic gas for the exotic matter. It is shown that by choosing suitable parameter values as well as equation of state parameter, under specific conditions we obtain a stable dyonic thin-shell wormhole solution. Finally we argue that, the stability domain of the dyonic thin-shell wormhole can be increased in terms of electric charge, magnetic charge, and dilaton charge.

The Effect of the Gauss-Bonnet term to Hawking Radiation from arbitrary dimensional Black Brane

We investigate the probabilities of the tunneling and the radiation spectrums of the massive spin-1 particles from arbitrary dimensional Gauss-Bonnet-Axions (GBA) Anti-de Sitter (AdS) black brane, via using the WKB approximation to the Proca spin-1 field equation. The tunneling probabilities and Hawking temperature of the arbitrary dimensional GBA AdS black brane is calculated via the Hamilton-Jacobi approach. We also compute the Hawking temperature via Parikh-Wilczek tunneling approach. The results obtained from the two methods are consistent. In our setup, the Gauss-Bonnet (GB) coupling affects the Hawking temperature if and only if the momentum of axion fields is non-vanishing.

Charged Thin-shell Gravastars in Noncommutative Geometry

In this paper we construct a charged thin-shell gravastar model within the context of noncommutative geometry. To do so, we choose the interior of the nonsingular de Sitter spacetime with an exterior charged noncommutative solution by cut-and-paste technique and apply the generalized junction conditions. We then investigate the stability of a charged thin-shell gravastar under linear perturbations around the static equilibrium solutions as well as the thermodynamical stability of the charged gravastar. We find the stability regions by choosing appropriate parameter values which is located sufficiently close to the event horizon.

Effect of Lorentz Symmetry Breaking on the Deflection of Light in a Cosmic String Spacetime

We investigate the Lorentz symmetry breaking effects (LSBE) on the deflection of light by a rotating cosmic string spacetime in the weak limit approximation. We first calculate the deflection angle by a static cosmic string for a fixed spacelike 4-vector case (FSL) with the corresponding effective-string optical metric using the Gauss-Bonnet theorem (GBT). Then, we focus on a more general scenario, namely we calculate the deflection angle by a rotating cosmic string applying the GBT to Randers effective-string metric. We obtain a significant modification in the deflection angle because of the LSBE parameter. We find a first and second order correction terms due to the global effective topology which are proportional to the cosmic string and LSBE parameter, respectively. Finally, for a fixed time-like 4-vector (FTL) case, we show that the deflection angle is not affetced by LSBE parameter.

Thin-Shell Wormholes in Neo-Newtonian Theory

In this paper, we constructed an acoustic thin-shell wormhole (ATW) under neo-Newtonian theory using the Darmois-Israel junction conditions. To determine the stability of the ATW by applying the cut-and-paste method, we found the surface density and surface pressure of the ATW under neo-Newtonian hydrodynamics just after obtaining an analog acoustic neo-Newtonian solution. We focused on the effects of the neo-Newtonian parameters by performing stability analyses using different types of fluids, such as a linear barotropic fluid (LBF), a Chaplygin fluid (CF), a logarithmic fluid (LogF), and a polytropic fluid (PF). We showed that a fluid with negative energy is required at the throat to keep the wormhole stable. The ATW can be stable if suitable values of the neo-Newtonian parameters $ς$, $A$, and $B$ are chosen.

The Effect of GUP to Massive Vector and Scalar Particles Tunneling From a Warped DGP Gravity Black Hole

This paper discusses the effects of the mass and the angular momentum of massive vector and scalar particles on the Hawking temperature manifested under the effects of the generalized uncertainty principle (GUP). In particular, we calculate the Hawking temperature of a black hole in a warped DGP gravity model in the framework of the quantum tunneling method. We use the modified Proca and Klein-Gordon equations previously determined from the GUP Lagrangian in the spacetime background of a warped Dvali-Gabadadze-Porrati (DGP) metric, with the help of Hamilton-Jacobi (HJ) and semiclassical (WKB) approximation methods. We find that as a special case of a warped DGP black hole solution, the Hawking temperature of a Schwarzschild-de Sitter (SdS) black hole can be determined. Furthermore, the Hawking temperature is influenced by the mass and the angular momentum of vector and scalar particles and depends on which of those types of particles is being emitted by the black hole. We conclude that the nonthermal nature of the Hawking spectrum leads to Planck-scale nonthermal correlations, shedding light on the information paradox in black hole evaporation.
