The structure of the moduli of gauged maps from a smooth curve

For a reductive group $G$, Harder-Narasimhan theory gives a structure theorem for principal $G$ bundles on a smooth projective curve $C$. A bundle is either semistable, or it admits a canonical parabolic reduction whose associated Levi bundle is semistable. We extend this structure theorem by constructing a $Θ$-stratification of the moduli stack of gauged maps from $C$ to a projective-over-affine $G$-variety $X$. The open stratum coincides with the previously studied moduli of Mundet semistable maps, and in special cases coincides with the moduli of stable quasi-maps. As an application of the stratification, we provide a formula for K-theoretic gauged Gromov-Witten invariants when $X$ is an arbitrary linear representation of $G$. This can be viewed as a generalization of the Verlinde formula for moduli spaces of decorated principal bundles. We establish our main technical results for smooth families of curves over an arbitrary Noetherian base. Our proof develops an infinite-dimensional analog of geometric invariant theory and applies the theory of optimization on degeneration fans.

On automorphisms of semistable G-bundles with decorations

We prove a rigidity result for automorphisms of points of certain stacks admitting adequate moduli spaces. It encompasses as special cases variations of the moduli of $G$-bundles on a smooth projective curve for a reductive algebraic group $G$. For example, our result applies to the stack of semistable $G$-bundles, stacks of semistable Hitchin pairs, and stacks of semistable parabolic $G$-bundles. Similar arguments apply to Gieseker semistable $G$-bundles in higher dimensions. We present two applications of the main result. First, we show that in characteristic $0$ every stack of semistable decorated $G$-bundles admitting a quasiprojective good moduli space can be written naturally as a $G$-linearized global quotient $Y/G$, so the moduli problem can be interpreted as a GIT problem. Secondly, we give a proof that the stack of semistable meromorphic $G$-Higgs bundles on a family of curves is smooth over any base in characteristic $0$.

Harder-Narasimhan stratification for the moduli stack of parabolic vector bundles

For every set of parabolic weights, we construct a Harder-Narasimhan stratification for the moduli stack of parabolic vector bundles on a curve. It is based on the notion of parabolic slope, introduced by Mehta and Seshadri. We also prove that the stratification is schematic, that each stratum is complete, and establish an analogue of Behrend's conjecture for parabolic vector bundles. A comparison with recent $Θ$-stratification approaches is discussed.

Reduction theory for connections over the formal punctured disc

We give a purely algebraic treatment of reduction theory for connections over the formal punctured disc. Our proofs apply to arbitrary connected linear algebraic groups over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0. We also state and prove some new quantitative results.
