Integrable geodesic motion on 3D curved spaces from non-standard quantum deformations

The link between 3D spaces with (in general, non-constant) curvature and quantum deformations is presented. It is shown how the non-standard deformation of a sl(2) Poisson coalgebra generates a family of integrable Hamiltonians that represent geodesic motions on 3D manifolds with a non-constant curvature that turns out to be a function of the deformation parameter z. A different Hamiltonian defined on the same deformed coalgebra is also shown to generate a maximally superintegrable geodesic motion on 3D Riemannian and (2+1)D relativistic spaces whose sectional curvatures are all constant and equal to z. This approach can be generalized to arbitrary dimension.

Quantum (anti)de Sitter algebras and generalizations of the kappa-Minkowski space

We present two different quantum deformations for the (anti)de Sitter algebras and groups. The former is a non-standard (triangular) deformation of SO(4,2) realized as the conformal group of the (3+1)D Minkowskian spacetime, while the latter is a standard (quasitriangular) deformation of both SO(2,2) and SO(3,1) expressed as the kinematical groups of the (2+1)D anti-de Sitter and de Sitter spacetimes, respectively. The Hopf structure of the quantum algebra and a study of the dual quantum group are presented for each deformation. These results enable us to propose new non-commutative spacetimes that can be interpreted as generalizations of the kappa-Minkowski space, either by considering a variable deformation parameter (depending on the boost coordinates) in the conformal deformation, or by introducing an explicit curvature/cosmological constant in the kinematical one; kappa-Minkowski turns out to be the common first-order structure for all of these quantum spaces. Some properties provided by these deformations, such as dimensions of the deformation parameter (related with the Planck length), space isotropy, deformed boost transformations, etc., are also commented.

Integrable potentials on spaces with curvature from quantum groups

A family of classical integrable systems defined on a deformation of the two-dimensional sphere, hyperbolic and (anti-)de Sitter spaces is constructed through Hamiltonians defined on the non-standard quantum deformation of a sl(2) Poisson coalgebra. All these spaces have a non-constant curvature that depends on the deformation parameter z. As particular cases, the analogues of the harmonic oscillator and Kepler--Coulomb potentials on such spaces are proposed. Another deformed Hamiltonian is also shown to provide superintegrable systems on the usual sphere, hyperbolic and (anti-)de Sitter spaces with a constant curvature that exactly coincides with z. According to each specific space, the resulting potential is interpreted as the superposition of a central harmonic oscillator with either two more oscillators or centrifugal barriers. The non-deformed limit z=0 of all these Hamiltonians can then be regarded as the zero-curvature limit (contraction) which leads to the corresponding (super)integrable systems on the flat Euclidean and Minkowskian spaces.

Curvature from quantum deformations

A Poisson coalgebra analogue of a (non-standard) quantum deformation of sl(2) is shown to generate an integrable geodesic dynamics on certain 2D spaces of non-constant curvature. Such a curvature depends on the quantum deformation parameter z and the flat case is recovered in the limit z\to 0. A superintegrable geodesic dynamics can also be defined in the same framework, and the corresponding spaces turn out to be either Riemannian or relativistic spacetimes (AdS and dS) with constant curvature equal to z. The underlying coalgebra symmetry of this approach ensures the existence of its generalization to arbitrary dimension.

Maximally superintegrable Smorodinsky-Winternitz systems on the N-dimensional sphere and hyperbolic spaces

The classical Smorodinsky-Winternitz systems on the ND sphere, Euclidean and hyperbolic spaces S^N, E^N and H^N are simultaneously approached starting from the Lie algebras so_k(N+1), which include a parametric dependence on the curvature k. General expressions for the Hamiltonian and its integrals of motion are given in terms of intrinsic geodesic coordinate systems. Each Lie algebra generator gives rise to an integral of motion, so that a set of N(N+1)/2 integrals is obtained. Furthermore, 2N-1 functionally independent ones are identified which, in turn, shows that the well known maximal superintegrability of the Smorodinsky-Winternitz system on E^N is preserved when curvature arises. On both S^N and H^N, the resulting system can be interpreted as a superposition of an "actual" oscillator and N "ideal" oscillators (for the sphere, these are alike the actual ones), which can also be understood as N "centrifugal terms"; this is the form seen in the Euclidean limiting case.

On 3+1 anti-de Sitter and de Sitter Lie bialgebras with dimensionful deformation parameters

We analyze among all possible quantum deformations of the 3+1 (anti)de Sitter algebras, so(3,2) and so(4,1), which have two specific non-deformed or primitive commuting operators: the time translation/energy generator and a rotation. We prove that under these conditions there are only two families of two-parametric (anti)de Sitter Lie bialgebras. All the deformation parameters appearing in the bialgebras are dimensionful ones and they may be related to the Planck length. Some properties conveyed by the corresponding quantum deformations (zero-curvature and non-relativistic limits, space isotropy,...) are studied and their dual (first-order) non-commutative spacetimes are also presented.

A non-commutative Minkowskian spacetime from a quantum AdS algebra

A quantum deformation of the conformal algebra of the Minkowskian spacetime in $(3+1)$ dimensions is identified with a deformation of the $(4+1)$-dimensional AdS algebra. Both Minkowskian and AdS first-order non-commutative spaces are explicitly obtained, and the former coincides with the well known $κ$-Minkowski space. Next, by working in the conformal basis, a new non-commutative Minkowskian spacetime is constructed through the full (all orders) dual quantum group spanned by deformed Poincaré and dilation symmetries. Although Lorentz invariance is lost, the resulting non-commutative spacetime is quantum group covariant, preserves space isotropy and, furthermore, can be interpreted as a generalization of the $κ$-Minkowski space in which a variable fundamental scale (Planck length) appears.

A new Doubly Special Relativity theory from a quantum Weyl-Poincare algebra

A mass-like quantum Weyl-Poincare algebra is proposed to describe, after the identification of the deformation parameter with the Planck length, a new relativistic theory with two observer-independent scales (or DSR theory). Deformed momentum representation, finite boost transformations, range of rapidity, energy and momentum, as well as position and velocity operators are explicitly studied and compared with those of previous DSR theories based on kappa-Poincare algebra. The main novelties of the DSR theory here presented are the new features of momentum saturation and a new type of deformed position operators.

Classical Dynamical Systems from q-algebras:"cluster" variables and explicit solutions

A general procedure to get the explicit solution of the equations of motion for N-body classical Hamiltonian systems equipped with coalgebra symmetry is introduced by defining a set of appropriate collective variables which are based on the iterations of the coproduct map on the generators of the algebra. In this way several examples of N-body dynamical systems obtained from q-Poisson algebras are explicitly solved: the q-deformed version of the sl(2) Calogero-Gaudin system (q-CG), a q-Poincare' Gaudin system and a system of Ruijsenaars type arising from the same (non co-boundary) q-deformation of the (1+1) Poincare' algebra. Also, a unified interpretation of all these systems as different Poisson-Lie dynamics on the same three dimensional solvable Lie group is given.

Quantum (1+1) extended Galilei algebras: from Lie bialgebras to quantum R-matrices and integrable systems

The Lie bialgebras of the (1+1) extended Galilei algebra are obtained and classified into four multiparametric families. Their quantum deformations are obtained, together with the corresponding deformed Casimir operators. For the coboundary cases quantum universal R-matrices are also given. Applications of the quantum extended Galilei algebras to classical integrable systems are explicitly developed.

(1+1) Schrodinger Lie bialgebras and their Poisson-Lie groups

All Lie bialgebra structures for the (1+1)-dimensional centrally extended Schrodinger algebra are explicitly derived and proved to be of the coboundary type. Therefore, since all of them come from a classical r-matrix, the complete family of Schrodinger Poisson-Lie groups can be deduced by means of the Sklyanin bracket. All possible embeddings of the harmonic oscillator, extended Galilei and gl(2) Lie bialgebras within the Schrodinger classification are studied. As an application, new quantum (Hopf algebra) deformations of the Schrodinger algebra, including their corresponding quantum universal R-matrices, are constructed.

Integrable deformations of oscillator chains from quantum algebras

A family of completely integrable nonlinear deformations of systems of N harmonic oscillators are constructed from the non-standard quantum deformation of the sl(2,R) algebra. Explicit expressions for all the associated integrals of motion are given, and the long-range nature of the interactions introduced by the deformation is shown to be linked to the underlying coalgebra structure. Separability and superintegrability properties of such systems are analysed, and their connection with classical angular momentum chains is used to construct a non-standard integrable deformation of the XXX hyperbolic Gaudin system.

Integrable deformations of Hamiltonian systems and q-symmetries

The complete integrability of the hyperbolic Gaudin Hamiltonian and other related integrable systems is shown to be easily derived by taking into account their sl(2,R) coalgebra symmetry. By using the properties induced by such a coalgebra structure, it can be proven that the introduction of any quantum deformation of the sl(2,R) algebra will provide an integrable deformation for such systems. In particular, the Gaudin Hamiltonian arising from the non-standard quantum deformation of the sl(2,R) Poisson algebra is presented, including the explicit expressions for its integrals of motion. A completely integrable system of nonlinearly coupled oscillators derived from this deformation is also introduced.

Two-photon algebra deformations

In order to obtain a classification of all possible quantum deformations of the two-photon algebra $h_6$, we introduce its corresponding general Lie bialgebra, which is a coboundary one. Two non-standard quantum deformations of $h_6$, together with their associated quantum universal R-matrix, are presented; each of them contains either a quantum harmonic oscillator subalgebra or a quantum gl(2) subalgebra. One-boson representations for these quantum two-photon algebras are derived and translated into Fock--Bargmann realizations. In this way, a systematic study of `deformed' states of light in quantum optics can be developed.

Multiparametric quantum gl(2): Lie bialgebras, quantum R-matrices and non-relativistic limits

Multiparametric quantum deformations of $gl(2)$ are studied through a complete classification of $gl(2)$ Lie bialgebra structures. From them, the non-relativistic limit leading to harmonic oscillator Lie bialgebras is implemented by means of a contraction procedure. New quantum deformations of $gl(2)$ together with their associated quantum $R$-matrices are obtained and other known quantizations are recovered and classified. Several connections with integrable models are outlined.

On quantum algebra symmetries of discrete Schrödinger equations

Two non-standard quantum deformations of the (1+1) Schrödinger algebra are identified with the symmetry algebras of either a space or time uniform lattice discretization of the Schrödinger equation. For both cases, the deformation parameter of the corresponding Hopf algebra can be interpreted as the step of the lattice. In this context, the introduction of nonlinear maps defining Schrödinger and $sl(2,\R)$ quantum algebras with classical commutation rules turns out to be relevant. The problem of finding a quantum algebra linked to the full space-time discretization is also discussed.

Long range integrable oscillator chains from quantum algebras

Completely integrable Hamiltonians defining classical mechanical systems of $N$ coupled oscillators are obtained from Poisson realizations of Heisenberg--Weyl, harmonic oscillator and $sl(2,\R)$ coalgebras. Various completely integrable deformations of such systems are constructed by considering quantum deformations of these algebras. Explicit expressions for all the deformed Hamiltonians and constants of motion are given, and the long-range nature of the interactions is shown to be linked to the underlying coalgebra structure. The relationship between oscillator systems induced from the $sl(2,\R)$ coalgebra and angular momentum chains is presented, and a non-standard integrable deformation of the hyperbolic Gaudin system is obtained.
