On angular limits of quasiregular mappings

We investigate Lindelöf and Koebe type boundary behavior results for bounded quasiregular mappings in $n$-dimensional Euclidean space. Our results give sufficient conditions for the existence of non-tangential limits at a boundary point.

Laplace--Beltrami Equations and Numerical Conformal Mappings on Surfaces

The conjugate function method is an algorithm for numerical computation of conformal mappings for simply and multiply connected domains. In this paper, the conjugate function method is extended to cover conformal mappings between Riemannian surfaces. The main challenge addressed here is the connection between Laplace--Beltrami equations on surfaces and the computation of the conformal modulus of a quadrilateral. We consider mappings of simply, doubly, and multiply connected domains. The numerical computation is based on an $hp$-adaptive finite element method. The key advantage of our approach is that it allows highly accurate computations of mappings on surfaces, including domains of complex boundary geometry involving strong singularities and cusps. The efficacy of the proposed method is illustrated via an extensive set of numerical experiments including error estimates.

Busemann functions and uniformization of Gromov hyperbolic spaces

Uniformization theory of Gromov hypebolic spaces investigated by Bonk, Heinonen and Koskela, generalizes the case where a classical Poincaré ball type model is used as the starting point. In this paper, we develop this approach in the case where the underlying domain is unbounded, corresponding to the classical Poincaré half-space model. More precisely, we study conformal densities via Busemann functions on Gromov hyperbolic spaces and prove that the deformed spaces are unbounded uniform spaces. Furthermore, we show that there is a one-to-one correspondence between the bilipschitz classes of proper geodesic Gromov hyperbolic spaces that are roughly starlike with respect to a point on Gromov boundary and the quasisimilarity classes of unbounded locally compact uniform spaces. Our result can be understood as an unbounded counterpart of the main result of Bonk, Heinonen, and Koskela in "Uniformizing Gromov Hyperbolic Spaces", Astérisque 270 (2001).

Pommerenke's theorem on Gromov hyperbolic domains

We establish a version of a classical theorem of Pommerenke, which is a diameter version of the Gehring-Hayman inequality on Gromov hyperbolic domains of $\mathbb{R}^n$. Two applications are given. Firstly, we generalize Ostrowski's Faltensatz to quasihyperbolic geodesics of Gromov hyperbolic domains. Secondly, we prove that unbounded uniform domains can be characterized in the terms of Gromov hyperbolicity and a naturally quasisymmetric correspondence on the boundary, where the Gromov boundary is equipped with a Hamenstädt metric (defined by using a Busemann function).

Circular arc polygons, numerical conformal mappings, and moduli of quadrilaterals

We study numerical conformal mappings of planar Jordan domains with boundaries consisting of finitely many circular arcs and compute the moduli of quadrilaterals for these domains. Experimental error estimates are provided and, when possible, comparison to exact values or other methods are given. The main ingredients of the computation are boundary integral equations combined with the fast multipole method.

The weak min-max property in Banach spaces

In this paper, we investigate the relationship between the weak min-max property and the diameter uniformity of domains in Banach spaces with dimensions at least $2$. As an application, we show that diameter uniform domains are invariant under relatively quasimöbius mappings.

Lipschitz property of harmonic mappings with respect to the pseudo-hyperbolic metric

In this paper, we show that harmonic Bloch mappings are Lipschitz continuous with respect to the pseudo-hyperbolic metric. This result improves the corresponding result of Theorem 1 of [P. Ghatage, J. Yan, and D. Zheng, Composition operators with closed range on the Bloch space, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 129 (2000), 2039-2044]. Furthermore, we prove the similar property for harmonic quasiregular Bloch-type mappings.

On Lipschitz continuity of solutions of hyperbolic Poisson's equation

In this paper, we investigate solutions of the hyperbolic Poisson equation $Δ_{h}u(x)=ψ(x)$, where $ψ\in L^{\infty}(\mathbb{B}^{n}, \mathbb{R}^n)$ and \[ Δ_{h}u(x)= (1-|x|^2)^2Δu(x)+2(n-2)(1-|x|^2)\sum_{i=1}^{n} x_{i} \frac{\partial u}{\partial x_{i}}(x) \] is the hyperbolic Laplace operator in the $n$-dimensional space $\mathbb{R}^n$ for $n\ge 2$. We show that if $n\geq 3$ and $u\in C^{2}(\mathbb{B}^{n},\mathbb{R}^n) \cap C(\overline{\mathbb{B}^{n}},\mathbb{R}^n )$ is a solution to the hyperbolic Poisson equation, then it has the representation $u=P_{h}[ϕ]-G_{ h}[ψ]$ provided that $u\mid_{\mathbb{S}^{n-1}}=ϕ$ and $\int_{\mathbb{B}^{n}}(1-|x|^{2})^{n-1} |ψ(x)|\,dτ(x)<\infty$. Here $P_{h}$ and $G_{h}$ denote Poisson and Green integrals with respect to $Δ_{h}$, respectively. Furthermore, we prove that functions of the form $u=P_{h}[ϕ]-G_{h}[ψ]$ are Lipschitz continuous.

A note on polyharmonic mappings

In this paper we prove a Radó type result showing that there is no univalent polyharmonic mapping of the unit disk onto the whole complex plane. We also establish a connection between the boundary functions of harmonic and biharmonic mappings. Finally, we show how a close-to-convex biharmonic mapping can be constructed from a convex harmonic mapping.

A note on Väisälä's problem concerning free quasiconformal mappings

In this paper, we provide partial solutions to a problem raised by Väisälä on local properties of free quasiconformal mappings. In particular, we show that a locally free quasiconformal mapping is globally free quasiconformal under the condition of locally relative quasisymmetry.

Improved Bohr's inequality for mappings defined on simply connected domains

In this paper, we study the Bohr phenomenon for functions that are defined on a general simply connected domain of the complex plane. We improve known results of R. Fournier and St. Ruscheweyh for a class of analytic functions. Furthermore, we examine the case where a harmonic mapping is defined in a disk containing $\mathbb{D}$ and obtain a Bohr type inequality.

Teichmüller's problem for Gromov hyperbolic domains

Let $\mathcal{T}_K(D)$ be the class of $K$-quasiconformal automorphisms of a domain $D\subsetneq \mathbb{R}^n$ with identity boundary values. Teichmüller's problem is to determine how far a given point $x\in D$ can be mapped under a mapping $f\in \mathcal{T}_K(D)$. We estimate this distance between $x$ and $f(x)$ from the above by using two different metrics, the distance ratio metric and the quasihyperbolic metric. We study Teichmüller's problem for Gromov hyperbolic domains in $\mathbb{R}^n$ with identity values at the boundary of infinity. As applications, we obtain results on Teichmüller's problem for $ψ$-uniform domains and inner uniform domains in $\mathbb{R}^n$.

$L^p\to L^q$ norm estimates of Cauchy transforms on the Dirichlet problem and their applications

Denote by $C^α(\mathbb{D})$ the space of the functions $f$ on t}he unit disk $\mathbb{D}$ which are Hölder continuous with the exponent $α$, and denote by $C^{1, α}(\mathbb{D})$ the space which consists of differentiable functions $f$ such that their derivatives are in the space $C^α(\mathbb{D})$. Let $\mathcal{C}$ be the Cauchy transform of Dirichlet problem. In this paper, we obtain the norm estimates of $\|\mathcal{C}\|_{L^p\to L^q}$, where $3/2<p<2$ and $q=p/(p-1)$. As an application, we show that if $3/2<p<2$, then $u\in C^μ(\mathbb{D})$, where $μ=2/p-1$. We also show that if $2<p<\infty$, then $u\in C^{1, ν}(\mathbb{D})$, where $ν=1-2/p$. Finally, for the case $p=\infty$, we show that $u$ is not necessarily in $C^{1, 1}(\mathbb{D})$, but its gradient, i.e., $|\nabla u|$ is Lipschitz continuous with respect to the pseudo-hyperbolic metric. This paper is inspired by Chapter 4 of [Astala, Iwaniec, Martin: Elliptic partial differential equations and quasiconformal mappings in the plane, Princeton Mathematical Series, Vol. 48, Princeton University Press, Princeton, NJ, 2009, p. xviii+677] and [Kalaj, Cauchy transform and Poisson's equation, Adv. Quasimöbius invariance of uniform domains

In this paper, we study quasimöbius invariance of uniform domains in Banach spaces. We first investigate implications of certain geometric properties of domains in Banach spaces, such as the (diameter) uniformity, the $δ$-uniformity and the min-max property. Then we show that all of these conditions are equivalent if the domain is $ψ$-natural. As applications, we answer partially to an open question proposed by Väisälä, and provide a new method to prove a recent result of M. Huang, Y. Li, M. Vuorinen, and X. Wang in [On quasimöbius maps in real Banach spaces, Israel J. Math. 198 (2013), 467-486], which also gives an answer to another question raised by Väisälä.

Koebe and Caratheódory type boundary behavior results for harmonic mappings

We study the behavior of the boundary function of a harmonic mapping from global and local points of view. Results related to the Koebe lemma are proved, as well as a generalization of a boundary behavior theorem by Bshouty, Lyzzaik and Weitsman. We also discuss this result from a different point of view, from which a relation between the boundary behavior of the dilatation at a boundary point and the continuity of the boundary function of our mapping can be seen.

On a subclass of starlike functions associated with a vertical strip domain

In this paper, we consider a subclass of starlike functions associated with a vertical strip domain. Several results concerned with integral representations, convolutions, and coefficient inequalities for functions belonging to this class are obtained. Furthermore, we consider radius problems and inclusion relations involving certain classes of strongly starlike functions, parabolic starlike functions and other types of starlike functions. The results are essential improvements of the corresponding results obtained by Kargar et al., and the derivations are similar to those used earlier by Sun et al. and Kwon et al..

Gromov hyperbolicity, John spaces and quasihyperbolic geodesics

We show that every quasihyperbolic geodesic in a John space admitting a roughly starlike Gromov hyperbolic quasihyperbolization is a cone arc. This result provides a new approach to the elementary metric geometry question, formulated in \cite[Question 2]{Hei89}, which has been studied by Gehring, Hag, Martio and Heinonen. As an application, we obtain a simple geometric condition connecting uniformity of the space with the existence of Gromov hyperbolic quasihyperbolization.

On properties of the solutions to the $α$-harmonic equation

The aim of this paper is to establish properties of the solutions to the $α$-harmonic equations: $Δ_α(f(z))=\partial{z}[(1-{|{z}|}^{2})^{-α} \overline{\partial}{z}f](z)=g(z)$, where $g:\overline{\mathbb{ID}}\rightarrow\mathbb{C}$ is a continuous function and $\overline{\mathbb{D}}$ denotes the closure of the unit disc $\mathbb{D}$ in the complex plane $\mathbb{C}$. We obtain Schwarz type and Schwarz-Pick type inequalities for the solutions to the $α$-harmonic equation. In particular, for $g\equiv 0$, the solutions to the above equation are called $α$-harmonic functions. We determine the necessary and sufficient conditions for an analytic function $ψ$ to have the property that $f\circψ$ is $α$-harmonic function for any $α$-harmonic function $f$. Furthermore, we discuss the Bergman-type spaces on $α$-harmonic functions.
