Thermal Casimir Effect in A Schwarzschild-like Wormhole Spacetime

We study the finite-temperature Casimir effect for a massless scalar field confined between two parallel plates in a Schwarzschild-like wormhole spacetime. Imposing Dirichlet boundary conditions, we compute the renormalized Casimir free energy in the comoving frame. We find that the thermal correction to the renormalized Casimir free energy decreases gradually with the temperature and becomes independent of the background geometry in this frame. Thermodynamic quantities derived from the Casimir free energy, namely, the renormalized Casimir entropy, internal energy, and heat capacity at constant volume, exhibit distinct temperature dependence. At low temperatures, all thermodynamic quantities recover the expected behavior, consistent with the fundamental laws of thermodynamics. These results provide a compact framework for analyzing quantum vacuum forces in gravitational backgrounds.

The Preheating Stage on The Starobinsky Inflation after ACT

Recent ACT results favor larger e-fold numbers, which tighten the reheating requirements in Starobinsky inflation. We show that efficient reheating generically requires an additional spectator-assisted preheating stage. The preheating dynamics and reheating temperature must be significantly modified to accommodate the higher reheating temperature. We present viable parameter sets compatible with PBH formation and the preferred reheating mechanism in this model. Furthermore, the momentum spectrum evolves from infrared-dominated modes at the early stage of preheating to higher-momentum modes at later times, supporting our scenario.

Determination of the HERA coherent diffractive $J/ψ$ production cross section via artificial neural network

An exclusive coherent diffractive $J/ψ$ production dataset from HERA, covering a large kinematic range in the photon virtuality $Q^2$, the squared momentum transfer $t$, and the photon-proton center-of-mass energy $W$, has been analyzed using various theoretical models with different approaches. In common model analyses, the inherent assumptions and limited kinematic applicability somewhat restrict the predictive power of the models, resulting in model-dependent prediction results. In this paper, we present our model-independent approach for the same reaction process and dataset, utilizing an artificial neural network (ANN) technique. The prediction of the best ANN model for the HERA differential cross-section dataset over a range of $W$, $Q^2$, and $t$ is obtained. We then extend the ANN model by combining the HERA and LHC data at various values of $W$ to predict the total photoproduction cross-section and demonstrate how to extract the exponential slope $b$. We find that the exponential slope $b$ strongly depends on $Q^2$ and $W$.

Fermionic Casimir effect in the presence of compact dimension in field theory with Lorentz invariance violation

In this study, we investigate the effect of the Lorentz invariance violation on the Casimir energy and pressure of the massive fermion field in the presence of the compact dimensions with topological $R^4\times S^1$, referring to the Kaluza-Klein model. In the system, the Dirac field is confined between two parallel plates with the geometry described by MIT bag boundary conditions, and the compactified dimension satisfies quasi-periodic boundary conditions. We investigate two directions of the Lorentz violation, namely, space- and time-like. The results reveal that in the space-like vector case, the Lorentz violation's strength and the extra dimension affect the Casimir energy and pressure. In contrast, in the time-like vector case, they are only affected by the extra dimension. We also propose an indirect method to estimate the size of the extra dimension by comparing the frequency shift of the massless fermionic case to that of the scaled experimental data for the electromagnetic field.

Vacuum Structure of an Extended Standard Model with $U(1)_D$ Symmetry

In this research, we investigate the vacuum structure of an extended standard model with a $U(1)_D$ global symmetry. The scalar sector consists of two $SU(2)$ doublets as well as one complex singlet and one real singlet, resulting in a more complicated vacuum structure compared to that of the Standard Model. We analyze various theoretical constraints, including the conditions for being bounded from below, the existence of a global minimum, and perturbativity up to the Planck scale. Additionally, we consider experimental constraints from the Higgs invisible decay. Through a detailed statistical analysis using numerical methods, we show that the extended scalar potential can accommodate a stable vacuum while satisfying both theoretical and experimental constraints for a small region of the parameter space.

Spacetime evolution of lepton number densities and wave packet-like effects for neutrino flavor and chiral oscillations in quantum field theory

We present a formulation of lepton family numbers, based on quantum field theory, for neutrino oscillation phenomenology that can be applied to nonrelativistic and relativistic energies for neutrinos. It is formulated for both types of neutrinos, Dirac and Majorana. The formulation is constructed as the time evolution of a lepton family number density operator. Then, the time evolution of the lepton family number density operator becomes dependent on the mass and new features appear. The expectation value of the density operator is evaluated for the initial state with a Gaussian distribution for the momentum amplitude. This enables us to study wave packet-like decoherence effects. We show in the nonrelativistic regime, the type of neutrino mass are distinguishable even under the presence of wave packet-like decoherence effects.

The Second-Level Preheating

This paper proposes two levels of preheating for the inflaton that is non-minimally coupled with gravity. The first level, later named by the quadratic regime, corresponds to the matter-dominated era and is responsible for draining the inflaton's energy density. The second level, which we will call the quartic regime, corresponds to the radiation-dominated era and is responsible for the reheating of the universe. We investigate the behavior of non-renormalizable higher dimension operators in both the quadratic and quartic regimes. In the quadratic regime, the preheating is also efficient, even though it is less than the lower dimension. On the other hand, the non-renormalizable higher dimension operators in the quartic regime are extremely inefficient. In our work, we also introduce a simple mechanism controlled by the characteristic momentum $α$ to suppress the particle production during preheating. Additionally, we emphasized the significance of the small momentum of the particles produced during preheating for the abundance of primordial black holes. This result supports the efficient preheating in the quadratic regime. Finally, we evaluate two modes of the reheating temperature, which differ based on the preheating efficiency during the quadratic regime.

Black-Body Radiation in a Uniformly Accelerated Frame

We derive Planck's radiation law in a uniformly accelerated frame expressed in Rindler coordinates. The black-body spectrum is time-dependent by its temperature and Planckian at each instantaneous time, but it is scaled by an emissivity factor that depends on the Rindler spatial coordinate and the acceleration magnitude. The observer in an accelerated frame will perceive the black-body as black, hyperblack, or grey, depending on its position with respect to the source (moving away or towards), the acceleration magnitude, and the case of whether it is accelerated or decelerated. For an observer accelerating away from the source, there exists a threshold on the acceleration magnitude beyond which it stops receiving radiation from the black-body. Since the frequency and the number of modes in Planck's law evolve over time, the spectrum is continuously red or blue-shifted towards lower (or higher) frequencies as time progresses, and the radiation modes (photons) could be created or annihilated, depending on the observer's position and its acceleration or deceleration relative to the source of radiation.

The Phenomenology of Sphaleron in Modified Mirror Model

We investigate sphaleron solutions of the field equations in the modified mirror model. This model is based on SU(3)$_1$ $\otimes$ SU(3)$_2$ $\otimes$ SU(2)$_L$ $\otimes$ SU(2)$_R$ $\otimes$ U(1)$_{Y}$ $\otimes$ U(1)$_{X}$ gauge group. Different from the usual Weinberg-Salam theory, we will have two types of fields, the ordinary (standard model) and its mirror partners. In this paper, we will focus only on the case when the doublet scalar of the mirror sector has a very large vacuum expectation value (VEV) compared to the VEV of the SM Higgs. We study two scenarios related to the sphaleron solutions in this model, depending on the value of the coupling $α$. For the case of $α=0$, each sector has its sphaleron and the sphaleron energy depends on the VEV of scalars for each sector. In the case $α\neq 0$, we find that the sphaleron energy in the SM sector can be either increased or decreased depending on the relative sign of the coupling $α$.

Violation of the two-time Leggett-Garg inequalities for a harmonic oscillator

We investigate the violation of the Leggett-Garg inequalities for a harmonic oscillator in various quantum states. We focus on the two-time quasi-probability distribution function with a dichotomic variable constructed with the position operator of a harmonic oscillator. First, we developed a new formula to compute the two-time quasi-probability distribution function, whose validity is demonstrated in comparison with the formula developed in the recent paper by Mawby and Halliwell[Phys.Rev.A, 107 032216 (2023)]. Second, we demonstrated the variety of the violation of the two-time Leggett-Garg inequalities assuming various quantum states of a harmonic oscillator including the squeezed coherent state and the thermal squeezed coherent state. Third, we demonstrated that a certain type of extension of the dichotomic variable and the corresponding projection operator can boost violation of the Leggett-Garg inequalities for the ground state and the squeezed state. We also discuss when the Leggett-Garg inequalities are violated in an intuitive manner.

Investigating Boson Sector in an Extended Standard Model with $U(1)_D$ Symmetry

We have investigated the boson sector in an extended standard model (SM) with additional $U(1)_D$ symmetry. In the proposed model, the singlet scalar and doublet scalar Higgs are added in addition to the SM-like scalar Higgs. These scalars are also coupled to the gauge boson fields. In this work, we calculate the masses of both gauge and scalar Higgs bosons. Their masses are obtained through spontaneous symmetry breaking using the Higgs fields with non-zero vacuum expectation values. We also study numerically the positivity conditions of the vacuum expectation value of the scalars. In particular, we perform scanning of the parameter space of the potential and study the obtained scalar mass dependence on the parameter of the model.

Casimir effect of Lorentz-violating charged Dirac in background magnetic field

We study the effect of the Lorentz symmetry breaking on the Casimir energy of charged Dirac in the presence of a uniform magnetic field. We use the boundary condition from the MIT bag model to represent the property of the plates. We investigate two cases of the direction of violation, namely, time-like and space-like vector cases. We discuss how the Lorentz violation and the magnetic field affect the structure of the Casimir energy and its pressure. We also investigate the weak and strong magnetic field cases with two different limits, heavy and light masses.

Massive fermion between two parallel chiral plates

We study the system of a massive fermion field confined between two parallel plates, where the properties of both plates are discussed under chiral MIT boundary conditions. We investigate the effects of the chiral angle on the Casimir energy for a massive fermion field with the general momentum. We find that the Casimir energy as a function of the chiral angle is generally symmetric, and the attractive Casimir force in the chiral case is stronger than that in the nonchiral case. In addition, we investigate the approximate Casimir energy for light and heavy mass cases. The behavior of the discrete momentum and changes of spin orientation are also discussed.

Effective theory for universal seesaw model and FCNC

We study the quark sector of the universal seesaw model with SU(2)$_L$ $\times$ SU(2)$_R$ $\times$ $U(1)$.The model incorporates the seesaw mechanism with the vector-like quarks (VLQs). The purpose of this work is to study the model with the effective theory. After integrating the heavy five VLQs, we derive the effective theory with four up-type quark and three down type quark. In this work, the FCNC of Z boson for top quark and top$^\prime$ quark is derived.

A model with light and heavy scalars in view of the effective theory

The low energy effective potential for the model with a light scalar and a heavy scalar is derived. We perform the path integration for both heavy and light scalars and derive the low energy effective potential in terms of only the light scalar. The effective potential is independent of the renormalization scale approximately. By setting the renormalization scale equal to the mass of the heavy scalar, one finds the corrections with the logarithm of the ratio of the two scalar masses. The large logarithm is summed with the renormalization group (RG) and the RG improved effective potential is derived. The improved effective potential includes the one-loop correction of the heavy scalar and the leading logarithmic corrections due to the light scalar. We study the correction to the vacuum expectation value of the light scalar and the dependence on the mass of the heavy scalar.

Lepton family numbers and non-relativistic Majorana neutrinos

In this talk, we have reviewed the recent development on the time evolution of lepton family number carried by Majorana neutrinos \cite{Adam:2021qiq}. This article focuses on the subtle points of the derivation of the lepton family numbers and their time evolution. We also show how the time evolution is sensitive to $m_{ee}$ and $m_{eμ}$ components of the effective Majorana mass matrix by applying the formula to the two family case. The dependence on the Majorana phase is clarified and the implication on CNB (cosmic neutrino background) is also discussed.

Time Evolution of Lepton Number Carried by Majorana Neutrinos

We revisit the time evolution of the lepton family number for a SU(2) doublet consisting of a neutrino and a charged lepton. The lepton family number is defined through the weak basis of the SU(2) doublet, where the charged lepton mass matrix is real and diagonal. The lepton family number carried by the neutrino is defined by the left-handed current of the neutrino family. For this work we assume the neutrinos have Majorana mass. This Majorana mass term is switched on at time $t=0$ and the lepton family number is evolved. Since the operator in the flavor eigenstate is continuously connected to that of the mass eigenstate, the creation and annihilation operators for the two eigenstates are related to each other. We compute the time evolution of all lepton family numbers by choosing a specific initial flavor eigenstate for a neutrino. The evolution is studied for relativistic and nonrelativistic neutrinos. The nonrelativistic region is of particular interest for the Cosmic Neutrino Background predicted from big bang models. In that region we find the lepton family numbers are sensitive to Majorana and Dirac phases, the absolute mass, and mass hierarchy of neutrinos.

Lepton number violation in a unified framework

We study the time evolution of lepton family number for neutrino which forms SU(2) doublet with charged lepton. The lepton family number is defined through a weak basis of SU(2) doublet in which the charged lepton mass matrix is a real and diagonal one. The lepton family number carried by the neutrino is defined with a left-handed current of the neutrino family. We study the time evolution of the lepton family number operator for Majorana neutrino. To be definite, we introduce the mass term at $t=0$ and study the time evolution of the lepton family number for the later time. Since the operator in flavor eigenstate is continuously connected to that of the mass eigenstate, the creation and annihilation operators for flavor eigenstates are related to those of mass eigenstates. The total lepton number of the Majorana neutrino is conserved. By choosing a specific flavor eigenstate of neutrino as an initial state, we compute the time evolution of all lepton family numbers. They are sensitive to Majorana and Dirac phases and also are sensitive to the absolute mass and mass hierarchy of neutrinos.
