The large time asymptotics of nonlinear multichannel Schroedinger equations

We consider the Schroedinger equation with a general interaction term, which is localized in space. The interaction may be x, t dependent and non-linear. Purely non-linear parts of the interaction are localized via the radial Sobolev embedding. Under the assumption of radial symmetry and boundedness in H1(R3) of the solution, uniformly in time. we prove it is asymptotic in L2 (and H1) in the strong sense, to a free wave and a weakly localized solution. The general properties of the localized solutions are derived. The proof is based on the introduction of phase-space analysis of the nonlinear dispersive dynamics and relies on a new class of (exterior) a priory propagation estimates. This approach allows a unified analysis of general linear time-dependent potentials and non-linear interactions.

Decay estimates for Beam equations with potentials in dimension three

This paper is devoted to studying time decay estimates of the solution for Beam equation (higher order type wave equation) with a potential $$u_{t t}+\big(Δ^2+V\big)u=0, \,\ u(0, x)=f(x),\ u_{t}(0, x)=g(x)$$ in dimension three, where $V$ is a real-valued and decaying potential on $\R^3$. Assume that zero is a regular point of $H:= Δ^2+V $, we first prove the following optimal time decay estimates of the solution operators \begin{equation*} \big\|\cos (t\sqrt{H})P_{ac}(H)\big\|_{L^{1} \rightarrow L^{\infty}} \lesssim|t|^{-\frac{3}{2}}\ \ \hbox{and} \ \ \Big\|\frac{\sin(t\sqrt{H})}{\sqrt{H}} P_{a c}(H)\Big\|_{L^{1} \rightarrow L^{\infty}} \lesssim|t|^{-\frac{1}{2}}. \end{equation*} Moreover, if zero is a resonance of $H$, then time decay of the solution operators above also are considered. It is noticed that the first kind resonance does not effect the decay rates for the propagator operators $\cos(t\sqrt{H})$ and $\frac{\sin(t\sqrt{H})}{\sqrt{H}}$, but their decay will be dramatically changed for the second and third resonance types.

A New Paradigm For Scattering Theory of Linear And Nonlinear Waves: Review And Open Problem

I present a review of the recent advancements in scattering theory, which provides a unified approach to studying dispersive and hyperbolic equations with general interaction terms and data. These equations encompass time-dependent potentials, as well as NLS, NLKG, and NLW equations. Additionally, I discuss a series of open problems, along with their significance and potential future applications in scattering and inverse scattering.

A Positivity Criterion for the Wave Equation and Global Existence of Large Solutions

In dimensions one to three, the fundamental solution to the free wave equation is positive. Therefore, there exists a simple positivity criterion for solutions. We use this to obtain large global solutions to two well-studied energy-supercritical semilinear wave equations, as well as some new results in the subcritical and critical cases.

Decay estimates for fourth-order Schrödinger operators in dimension two

In this paper we study the decay estimates of the fourth order Schrödinger operator $H=Δ^{2}+V(x)$ on $\mathbb{R}^2$ with a bounded decaying potential $V(x)$. We first deduce the asymptotic expansions of resolvent of $H$ near the zero threshold in the presence of resonances or eigenvalue, and then use them to establish the $L^1-L^\infty$ decay estimates of $e^{-itH}$generated by the fourth order Schrödinger operator $H$. Our methods used in the decay estimates depend on Littlewood-Paley decomposition and oscillatory integral theory. Moreover, we classify these zero resonances as the distributional solutions of $Hϕ=0$ in suitable weighted spaces. Due to the degeneracy of $Δ^{2}$ at zero threshold and the lower even dimension (i.e. $n=2$), we remark that the asymptotic expansions of resolvent $R_V(λ^4)$ and the classifications of resonances are more involved than Schrödinger operator $-Δ+V$ in dimension two.

Soliton resolution for nonlinear Schrödinger type equations in the radial case

We consider the Schrödinger equation with a general interaction term, which is localized in space, for radially symmetric initial data in $n$ dimensions, $n\geq5$. The interaction term may be space-time dependent and nonlinear. Assuming that the solution is bounded in $H^1(\mathbb{R}^n)$ uniformly in time, we prove soliton resolution conjecture (Asymptotic completeness) by demonstrating that the solution resolves into a smooth and localized part and a free radiation in $\mathcal{L}^2_x(\mathbb{R}^n)$ norm. Examples of such equations include inter-critical and super-critical nonlinear Schrödinger equations, saturated nonlinearities, time-dependent potentials, and combinations of these terms.

Almost sure well-posedness and scattering of the 3D cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation

We study the random data problem for 3D, defocusing, cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation in $H_x^s(\mathbb{R}^3)$ with $s<\frac 12$. First, we prove that the almost sure local well-posedness holds when $\frac{1}{6}\leqslant s<\frac 12$ in the sense that the Duhamel term belongs to $H_x^{1/2}(\mathbb{R}^3)$. Furthermore, we prove that the global well-posedness and scattering hold for randomized, radial, large data $f\in H_x^{s}(\mathbb{R}^3)$ when $\frac{17}{40}< s<\frac 12$. The key ingredient is to control the energy increment including the terms where the first order derivative acts on the linear flow, and our argument can lower down the order of derivative more than $\frac12$. To our best knowledge, this is the first almost sure large data global result for this model.

Beyond Bogoliubov Dynamics

We consider a system of N interacting bosons in the mean-field scaling regime and construct corrections to the Bogoliubov dynamics that approximate the true N-body dynamics in norm to arbitrary precision. The N-independent corrections are given in terms of the solutions of the Bogoliubov and Hartree equations and satisfy a generalized form of Wick's theorem. We determine the n-point correlation functions of the excitations around the condensate, as well as the reduced densities of the N-body system, to arbitrary accuracy, given only the knowledge of the two-point functions of a quasi-free state and the solution of the Hartree equation. In this way, the complex problem of computing all n-point correlation functions for an interacting N-body system is essentially reduced to the problem of solving the Hartree equation and the PDEs for the Bogoliubov two-point functions.

On modified scattering for 1D quadratic Klein-Gordon equations with non-generic potentials

We consider the asymptotic behavior of small global-in-time solutions to a 1D Klein-Gordon equation with a spatially localized, variable coefficient quadratic nonlinearity and a non-generic linear potential. The purpose of this work is to continue the investigation of the occurrence of a novel modified scattering behavior of the solutions that involves a logarithmic slow-down of the decay rate along certain rays. This phenomenon is ultimately caused by the threshold resonance of the linear Klein-Gordon operator. It was previously uncovered for the special case of the zero potential in [51]. The Klein-Gordon model considered in this paper is motivated by the asymptotic stability problem for kink solutions arising in classical scalar field theories on the real line.

$L^p$ Boundedness of the Scattering Wave Operators of Schrödinger Dynamics -- Part 2

We give another proof of the $L^p$ boundedness of scattering wave operators, at the low frequency part of the data. The proof also allows the control of the commutator of multiplication by $|x|$ with the wave operator in $L^p$. The method we develop here is geared to proving similar results for \emph{time dependent potentials}, complementing previous work focused on the high frequency part.

Decay estimates for bi-Schrödinger operators in dimension one

This paper is devoted to study the time decay estimates for bi-Schrödinger operators $H=Δ^{2}+V(x)$ in dimension one with decaying potentials $V(x)$. We first deduce the asymptotic expansions of resolvent of $H$ at zero energy threshold without/with the presence of resonances, and then characterize these resonance spaces corresponding to different types of zero resonance in suitable weighted spaces $L_s^2({\mathbf{R}})$. Next we use them to establish the sharp $L^1-L^\infty$ decay estimates of Schrödinger groups $e^{-itH}$ generated by bi-Schrödinger operators also with zero resonances. As a consequence, Strichartz estimates are obtained for the solution of fourth-order Schrödinger equations with potentials for initial data in $L^2({\mathbf{R}})$. In particular, it should be emphasized that the presence of zero resonances does not change the optimal time decay rate of $e^{-itH}$ in dimension one, except at requiring faster decay rate of the potential.

Large global solutions for nonlinear Schrödinger equations I, mass-subcritical cases

In this paper, we consider the nonlinear Schrödinger equation, $$ i\partial_{t}u+Δu= μ|u|^p u, \quad (t,x)\in \mathbb{R}^{d+1}, $$ with $μ=\pm1, p>0$. In this work, we consider the mass-subcritical cases, that is, $p\in (0,\frac4d)$. We prove that under some restrictions on $d,p$, any radial initial data in the critical space $\dot H^{s_c}(\mathbb{R}^d)$ with compact support, implies global well-posedness.

Asymptotics for 1D Klein-Gordon equations with variable coefficient quadratic nonlinearities

We initiate the study of the asymptotic behavior of small solutions to one-dimensional Klein-Gordon equations with variable coefficient quadratic nonlinearities. The main discovery in this work is a striking resonant interaction between specific spatial frequencies of the variable coefficient and the temporal oscillations of the solutions. In the resonant case a novel type of modified scattering behavior occurs that exhibits a logarithmic slow-down of the decay rate along certain rays. In the non-resonant case we introduce a new variable coefficient quadratic normal form and establish sharp decay estimates and asymptotics in the presence of a critically dispersing constant coefficient cubic nonlinearity. The Klein-Gordon models considered in this paper are motivated by the study of the asymptotic stability of kink solutions to classical nonlinear scalar field equations on the real line.

Large global solutions for nonlinear Schrödinger equations II, mass-supercritical, energy-subcritical cases

In this paper, we consider the defocusing mass-supercritical, energy-subcritical nonlinear Schrödinger equation, $$ i\partial_{t}u+Δu= |u|^p u, \quad (t,x)\in \mathbb R^{d+1}, $$ with $p\in (\frac4d,\frac4{d-2})$. We prove that under some restrictions on $d,p$, any radial function in the rough space $H^{s_0}(\mathbb R^d),\textit{for some } s_0<s_c$ with the support away from the origin, there exists an incoming/outgoing decomposition, such that the initial data in the outgoing part leads to the global well-posedness and scattering forward in time; while the initial data in the incoming part leads to the global well-posedness and scattering backward in time. The proof is based on Phase-Space analysis of the nonlinear dynamics.

Global existences and asymptotic behavior for semilinear heat equation

In this paper, we consider the global Cauchy problem for the $L^2$-critical semilinear heat equations $ \partial_t h=Δh\pm |h|^{\frac4d}h, $ with $h(0,x)=h_0$, where $h$ is an unknown real function defined on $ \R^+\times\R^d$. In most of the studies on this subject, the initial data $h_0$ belongs to Lebesgue spaces $L^p(\R^d)$ for some $p\ge 2$ or to subcritical Sobolev space $H^{s}(\R^d)$ with $s>0$. {\it First,} we prove that there exists some positive constant $γ_0$ depending on $d$, such that the Cauchy problem is locally and globally well-posed for any initial data $h_0$ which is radial, supported away from the origin and in the negative Sobolev space $\dot H^{-γ_0}(\R^d)$. In particular, it leads to local and global existences of the solutions to Cauchy problem considered above for the initial data in a proper subspace of $L^p(\R^d)$ with some $p<2$. {\it Secondly,} the sharp asymptotic behavior of the solutions ( i.e. $L^2$-decay estimates ) as $t\to +\infty$ are obtained with arbitrary large initial data $h_0\in \dot H^{-γ_0}(\R^d)$ in the defocusing case and in the focusing case with suitably small initial data $h_0$.
