Four-loop beta function in N=2 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory, dimensional reduction, and treatment of $γ_5$

Adopting the dimensional-reduction scheme, we diagrammatically compute, at four loops, the beta function of N=2 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory, which is well known to vanish beyond one loop. This provides a formidable testbed for both the treatment of the problematic $γ_5$ Dirac matrix in D dimensions and the implementation of the dimensional-reduction scheme. In the use of the reading-point method of $γ_5$, being preferable for convenience, specific details of implementation start to matter at four loops. We thus rigorously validate these implementation issues, which have previously been advocated for the calculation of the gauge-coupling beta functions at four loops in the Standard Model.

Four-Loop Gluon Anomalous Dimension of General Lorentz Spin: Transcendental Part

We consider the anomalous dimension $γ_{gg}^{(3)}(N)$ of the twist-two gluon operator of arbitrary Lorentz spin $N$ in the quark flavor singlet sector of a general gauge theory at four loops and construct its contribution proportional to $ζ(3)$ in analytic form by applying the Lenstra-Lenstra-Lovász algorithm to the available low-$N$ moments. We exploit generalized Gribov-Liptov reciprocity, establish new self-tuning relations for the anomalous dimension matrix of the singlet sector, and inject information from $\mathcal{N}=1,4$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories. We also present the contribution to the rational part of $γ_{gg}^{(3)}(N)$ with color factor $C_F^2n_f^2$. Exact contributions to the four-loop splitting function $P_{gg}^{(3)}(x)$ hence resulting via inverse Mellin transformation help us to reduce theoretical uncertainties in scaling violations of parton distribution functions in QCD.

Renormalization of three-quark operators with up to two derivatives at three loops

We study in QCD the $\overline{\mathrm{MS}}$ renormalization of three-quark operators with up to two covariant derivatives, which are related to $N=0,1,2$ Mellin moments of baryonic light-cone distributions amplitudes. Apart from general three-quark operators, we also consider those corresponding to spin 3/2 and 1/2 states. We present in analytic form the renormalization constants and anomalous dimensions of these operators through three loops, confirming previous two- and three-loop results for $N=0$. Furthermore, we evaluate through two loops their amputated four-point Green's functions with RI${}^\prime$/MOM four-momentum assignment, which are required for the matching of lattice results with perturbative calculations. We work in linear covariant gauge and find the anomalous dimensions to be gauge independent as expected.

Numerical analytical continuation of multivariate hypergeometric functions

We present a general framework for the high-precision numerical evaluation of multivariate hypergeometric functions defined as solutions of holonomic systems of partial differential equations. Our approach adapts and extends methods originally developed for multi-loop Feynman integrals to the setting of hypergeometric functions of many variables. In particular, we construct Pfaffian systems for arbitrary multivariate hypergeometric functions by applying the Laporta reduction algorithm to suitable systems of differential relations. Next, we construct a numerical scheme based on the Frobenius method, which allows us to compute local power-series solutions with controlled precision and to transport them along prescribed paths in the space of variables. A central part of the paper is devoted to a systematic analysis of multivaluedness and branch structure: we show how the Frobenius method can be used to access different Riemann sheets in a controlled way and to track changes of the solution under analytic continuation around singular loci.

Four-loop anomalous dimension of flavor non-singlet quark operator of twist two and Lorentz spin N for general gauge group: transcendental part

Both for quark flavor asymmetry and valence, we consider the anomalous dimension of the non-singlet twist-two quark operator of arbitrary Lorentz spin N at four loops in SU(nc) color gauge theory and present its term proportional to zeta(3) in closed form. These results have been extracted from published Mellin moments, for N=1,...,16 and N=3,...,15, respectively, by analytic reconstruction using advanced methods of number theory. Via Mellin transformation, we obtain the exact functional forms in x of the respective pieces of Dokshitzer-Gribov-Lipatov-Altarelli-Parisi splitting functions. This allows us to reduce the theoretical uncertainties in the approximations of these splitting functions otherwise amenable from the first few low-N values.

Updated determination of light-cone distribution amplitudes of octet baryons in lattice QCD

We present updated results on the wave function normalization constants and the first moments of the light cone distribution amplitudes for the lowest-lying baryon octet. The analysis is carried out on a large number of $n_f=2+1$ lattice gauge ensembles, including ensembles at physical pion (and kaon) masses. These are spread across five different lattice spacings, enabling a controlled continuum limit. The main differences with respect to our earlier work are the use of two-loop conversion factors to an $\overline{\mathrm{MS}}$-like scheme and of an updated set of low-energy constants in the parametrization of the quark mass dependence. As a byproduct, for the first time, the anomalous dimensions for local three-quark operators with one derivative are obtained.

Flavour Non-Singlet Splitting Functions at Four Loops in QCD -- The Fermionic Contributions

We have determined the fourth-order $n_f$ contributions to the two splitting functions governing the evolution of all flavor differences of quark distributions of hadrons in perturbative quantum chromodynamics with $n_f$ light flavors. The analytic forms of these functions are presented in both Mellin $N$-space and momentum-fraction $x$-space for a general gauge group. In the small-$x$ limit double logarithms occur, but the small-$x$ rise of both splitting functions is confined to extremely small $x$-values, $x \lesssim 10^{-6}$. The large-$x$ limit includes the $n_f$-part of the four-loop quark virtual anomalous dimension. Using this result we obtain also the $n_f$ contributions to the corresponding gluonic quantity and the complete threshold-enhanced logarithms from soft-gluon emission for a large class of inclusive observables, including Higgs boson production in gluon-gluon fusion.

Four-loop anomalous dimension of flavor non-singlet twist-two operator of general Lorentz spin in QCD: zeta(3) term

We consider the anomalous dimension of the flavor non-singlet twist-two quark operator of arbitrary Lorentz spin N at four loops in QCD and construct its contribution proportional to zeta(3) in analytic form by applying advanced methods of number theory on the available knowledge of low-N moments. In conjunction with similar results on the zeta(5) and zeta(4) contributions, this completes our knowledge of the transcendental part of the considered anomalous dimension. This also provides important constraints on the as-yet elusive all-N form of the rational part. Via Mellin transformation, we thus obtain the exact functional form in x of the respective piece of the non-singlet Dokshitzer-Gribov-Lipatov-Altarelli-Parisi splitting function at four loops. This allows us to appreciably reduce the theoretical uncertainty in the approximation of that splitting function otherwise amenable from the first few low-N moments.

Nonplanar Four-Loop Anomalous Dimensions of Twist-Two Operators in N=4 Super Yang-Mills Theory: Higher Moment, General Result, and Cusp Anomalous Dimension

We consider the nonplanar universal anomalous dimension of twist-two operators at four loops in N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory and push its direct diagrammatic calculation through Lorentz spin j=20, one unit beyond the state of the art, so as to confirm the correctness of the general, all-j result conjectured previously by us [1] imposing certain constraints on its analytic form. Thanks to our new result, such constraints can be eliminated altogether. By the same token, this allows us to re-derive, in a completely independent way, the nonplanar four-loop cusp anomalous dimension by taking the large-j limit of the general result.

$\texttt{PrecisionLauricella}$: package for numerical computation of Lauricella functions depending on a parameter

We introduce the $\texttt{PrecisionLauricella}$ package, a computational tool developed in Wolfram Mathematica for high-precision numerical evaluations of Lauricella functions with indices linearly dependent on a parameter, $\varepsilon$. The package leverages a method based on analytical continuation via Frobenius generalized power series, providing an efficient and accurate alternative to conventional approaches relying on multi-dimensional series expansions or Mellin--Barnes representations. This one-dimensional approach is particularly advantageous for high-precision calculations and facilitates further optimization through $\varepsilon$-dependent reconstruction from evaluations at specific numerical values, enabling efficient parallelization. The underlying mathematical framework for this method has been detailed in our previous work, while the current paper focuses on the design, implementation, and practical applications of the $\texttt{PrecisionLauricella}$ package.

High-precision numerical evaluation of Lauricella functions

We present a method for high-precision numerical evaluations of Lauricella functions, whose indices are linearly dependent on some parameter $\varepsilon$, in terms of their Laurent series expansions at zero. This method is based on finding analytic continuations of these functions in terms of Frobenius generalized power series. Being one-dimensional, these series are much more suited for high-precision numerical evaluations than multi-dimensional sums arising in approaches to analytic continuations based on re-expansions of hypergeometric series or Mellin--Barnes integral representations. To accelerate the calculation procedure further, the $\varepsilon$ dependence of the result is reconstructed from the evaluations of given Lauricella functions at specific numerical values of $\varepsilon$, which, in addition, allows for efficient parallel implementation. The method has been implemented in the $\texttt{PrecisionLauricella}$ package, written in Wolfram Mathematica language.

Anomalous dimensions of twist-two operators in extended N=2 and N=4 super Yang-Mills theories

We perform direct diagrammatic calculations of the anomalous dimensions of twist-two operators in extended N=2 and N=4 super Yang-Mills theories (SYM). In the case of N=4 SYM, we compute the four-loop anomalous dimension of the twist-two operator for several fixed values of Lorentz spin. This is the first direct diagrammatic calculation of this kind, and we confirm results previously obtained by means of integrability. For N=2 SYM, we obtain the general result for the anomalous dimension at third order of perturbation theory and find the three-loop Cusp anomalous dimension.

Matching the Standard Model to Heavy-Quark Effective Theory and Nonrelativistic QCD

We find the leading electroweak corrections to the Lagrangians of heavy-quark effective theory and nonrelativistic QCD. These corrections appear in the Wilson coefficients of the two- and four-quark operators and are considered here at one-loop order through $\mathcal{O}(1/m^3)$ and $\mathcal{O}(1/m^2)$, respectively. The two-quark operators through this order include new parity violating terms, which we derive analogously to the parity preserving QCD result at one-loop order.

Massive Two-Loop Heavy Particle Diagrams

We determine the master integrals for vertex and propagator diagrams that appear in effective field theories containing heavy fields. The integrals involve at least one heavy line, and the standard lines include an arbitrary mass scale. The evaluation is done analytically with modern techniques. We employ the methods of differential equations and dimensional recurrence relations to evaluate said integrals up to two-loop order.

On the physics potential to study the gluon content of proton and deuteron at NICA SPD

The Spin Physics Detector (SPD) is a future multipurpose experiment foreseen to run at the NICA collider, which is currently under construction at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR, Dubna, Russia). The physics program of the experiment is based on collisions of longitudinally and transversely polarized protons and deuterons at $\sqrt{s}$ up to 27 GeV and luminosity up to 10$^{32}$ cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$. The SPD will operate as a universal facility for comprehensive study of unpolarized and polarized gluon content of the nucleon, using different complementary probes such as: charmonia, open charm, and prompt photon production processes. The aim of this work is to make a thorough review of the physics objectives that can potentially be addressed at the SPD, underlining related theoretical aspects and discussing relevant experimental results when available. Among different pertinent phenomena particular attention is drawn to the study of the gluon helicity, gluon Sivers and Boer-Mulders functions in the nucleon, as well as the gluon transversity distribution in the deuteron, via the measurement of specific single and double spin asymmetries.

Operator product expansion for the non-local gluon condensate

We consider the short-distance expansion of the product of two gluon field strength tensors connected by a straight-line-ordered Wilson line. The vacuum expectation value of this nonlocal operator is a common object in studies of the QCD vacuum structure, whereas its nucleon expectation value is known as the gluon quasi-parton distribution and is receiving a lot of attention as a tool to extract gluon distribution functions from lattice calculations. Extending our previous study, we calculate the three-loop coefficient functions of the scalar operators in the operator product expansion up to dimension four. As a by-product, the three-loop anomalous dimension of the nonlocal two-gluon operator is obtained as well.
