The Elusive Monopole

In this brief note, we argue that the elusive magnetic monopole arises due to the strong magnetic effects arising from the non commutative space time structure at small scales. This would also explain why the monopole has eluded detection even after seventy years.

Quantum SuperStrings and Quantized Fractal Space Time

Though Quantum SuperString Theory has shown promise, there are some puzzling features like the extra dimensions, which are curled up in the Kaluza-Klein sense. On the other hand a recent formulation of what may be called Quantized Fractal Space Time leads to a surprising interface with QSS - we deal with the Planck length, the same number of extra dimensions and an identical non-commutative geometry. It is shown that this is not accidental. On the contrary it gives us insight into the otherwise inexplicable features of QSS.

Quantized Fractal Space Time and Stochastic Holism

The space time that is used in relativistic Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Field Theory is the Minkowski space time. Yet, as pointed out by several scholars this classical space time is incompatible with the Heisenberg Uncertainity Principle: We cannot go down to arbitrarily small space time intervals, let alone space time points. Infact this classical space time is at best an approximation, and this has been criticised by several scholars. We investigate, what exactly this approximation entails.

Why a Conjecture of Poincare Doesn't Work

Poincare had conjectured that the fact that closed loops could be shrunk to points on a surface topologically equivalent to the surface of a sphere can be generalised to three (and more) dimensions. After nearly a century the conjecture has remained unproven. We given arguments below to show that the conjecture doesn't work in three dimensions.

Fractal Statistics

We consider the recent description of elementary particles in terms of Quantum Mechanical Kerr-Newman Black Holes, a description which provides a rationale for and at the same time reconciles the Bohm-hydrodynamical formulation on the one hand and the Nelsonian stochastiic formulation on the other. The Boson-Fermion divide is discussed, and it is pointed out that in special situations, anomalous statistics, rather than Bose-Einstein or Fermi-Dirac states, can be encountered.

A Note on $3 + 1$ Dimensionality

Recent work by Castro, Granik and El Naschie has given a rationale for the three dimensionality of our physical space within the framework of cantorian fractal space time using similar ideas of quantized fractal space time and noncommutativity. We also deduce the same result. Interestingly this is also seen to provide a rationale for an unproven conjecture of Poincare.

The Unification of Electromagnetism and Gravitation in the Context of Quantized Fractal Space Time

The attempts to unify electromagnetism and gravitation have included the formulations of Herman Weyl and the Kaluza Klein theory with the fifth dimension. More recently there have been fruitful attempts in the domain of Quantum Superstrings and the author's formulation in terms of Quantum Mechanical Kerr-Newman Black Holes. Though all these appear to be widely divergent approaches, they are shown to have a unified underpinning in the context of quantized fractal space time.

Issues in Quantized Fractal Space Time

In recent years, the picture of discrete space time has been studied in the context of stochastic theory. There are a number of ramifications, which are briefly examined. We argue that the causality of physiics has its roots in the analyticity within the two dimensons of a fractal quantum path and further show how this picture has convergence wth quantum superstrings.

A Brief Note on Discrete Space Effects

We discuss briefly discrete space effects and show that this leads to space reflection asymmetry and also a minor modification of Einstein's energy-mass formula.

A Brief Note on the Magnetic Effects of the Electron

In this paper it is shown that a recent formulation of the electron in terms of a Kerr-Newman type metric, exhibits a short range magnetic effect, as indeed has been observed at Cornell, and also an Aharonov-Bohm type of an effect.

Interstellar Hydrogen and Cosmic Background Radiation

It is shown that a collection of photons with nearly the same frequency exhibits a "condensation" type of phenomenon corresponding to a peak intensity. The observed cosmic background radiation can be explained from this standpoint in terms of the radiation due to fluctuations in interstellar Hydrogen.

An Underpinning for Space Time

We argue, that from a background pre space-time Zero Point Field, physical space-time emerges on averaging over unphysical Compton scales.

Scale Dependent Dimensionality

We argue that dimensionality is not absolute, but that it depends on the scale of resolution, from the Planck to the macro scale.

Scaled Universe II

In an earlier paper we had pointed out that Quantum Mechanical type effects are seen at different scales in the macro universe also. In this paper we obtain a rationale for this, which lies in the picture of bound material systems, spanning a Compton wavelength type extent, separated by much larger and relatively much less dense distances.
