Earth-density effects in long-baseline neutrino experiments in a four-flavor (3+1) sterile-neutrino framework

Earth matter effects are a leading systematic in long-baseline (LBL) determinations of the CP-violating phase delta13, and eV scale sterile neutrinos remain a phenomenologically open extension of the three-flavor paradigm motivated by short-baseline anomalies. We extend the constant density versus realistic Earth profile analysis of Ref. 1 to a four-flavor (3+1) framework, in which a fourth, mostly sterile mass eigenstate with deltam2 41 = 0.30 eV2 and active-sterile mixing angles theta14 = 8.13degree, theta24 = 5.40degree couples to the active sector both through its mixing and through an additional neutral current (NC) matter potential that acts on the active flavors but not on the sterile state. We derive an analytical, leading-order account of how the NC potential ANC enters the reconstructed delta13 bias through an effective non standard interaction like term generated by adiabatically integrating out the fast deltam241 oscillation; replace the four-shell Earth density model with the continuous, polynomial PREM profile of Dziewonski & Anderson (1981) for the layered true trajectory; and extend the baseline scan to four representative values of the sterile CP phase delta14 is 0, pi/2, pi, 3pi/2 and to a non-zero mixing angle theta34 = 5degree. Within this benchmark, the bias remains below our scan resolution for L <= 5000 km. It grows once the trajectory samples the lower mantle and core, with the sterile sector redistributing rather than uniformly amplifying or suppressing the bias across baseline, in agreement with our original finding and now traced to a specific interference mechanism identified analytically below.

Anomalous Matter Potentials in Earth's Inner Core: A Phenomenological Probe of Dark Matter and Light Sterile Neutrinos

Standard treatments of Earth matter effects in neutrino oscillation experiments assume that the coherent forward scattering potential experienced by propagating neutrinos is sourced entirely by the Standard Model electron density predicted by the Preliminary Reference Earth Model (PREM). We examine how an anomalous matter potential localized in Earth's inner core, motivated by gravitationally captured dark matter or resonant mixing of active neutrinos with a light (eV-scale or lighter) sterile state, would distort the vu survival and vutove appearance probabilities relative to the Standard Model PREM expectation. Using a full three-flavor matrix-exponentiation propagation code with a four-shell PREM density profile, we parametrize the new-physics contribution as a fractional enhancement ecore of the electron-sector potential confined to the inner core (r<1221 km) and compute oscillation probabilities for near-vertically upgoing atmospheric neutrinos (L=8000to12742km). Trajectories that do not cross the inner core (L<=12500km) are essentially insensitive to ecore, reproducing the Standard Model expectation to better than 0.1%. In contrast, near-antipodal trajectories crossing the inner core (L>=12505km, corresponding to nadir angles within roughly half a degree of the vertical) show significant effects. The muon-neutrino survival probability is displaced by tens of percent for ecore=0.05to0.15 and by more than 100% at particular energies for the νμ to νe appearance channel, with a pronounced neutrinoantineutrino asymmetry that mimics, but is physically distinct from, intrinsic CP violation. These results indicate that percent-level new-physics potentials confined to the inner core are within the discovery reach of high-statistics atmospheric neutrino telescopes such as IceCube Upgrade, KM3NeT/ORCA, and next-generation megaton-scale detectors.

Matter-Induced CPT Violation and Earth-Density Stratification Effects in Long-Baseline Neutrino Oscillation Experiments

We present a unified analysis of two matter-potential systematics in long-baseline (LBL) neutrino oscillation experiments. Matter-induced extrinsic CPT violation produces a non-zero asymmetry $A_{μe}^{CPT} = (P_{μe} - P_{\barμ\bar{e}})/(P_{μe} + P_{\barμ\bar{e}})$, computed here with exact three-flavour matrix-exponentiation propagators for T2K, NO$ν$A, DUNE, and Hyper-Kamiokande; values range from 0.022 to 0.180 at the respective peak energies and differ by up to 9\% between normal and inverted mass orderings. The three-dimensional surface $A_{μe}^{CPT}(E, δ_{CP})$ at the DUNE baseline reveals an entanglement between extrinsic CPT violation and intrinsic CP violation in the high-$L/E$ regime that requires joint statistical treatment. Concurrently, replacing the Preliminary Reference Earth Model (PREM) with a constant path-averaged density introduces a $δ_{CP}$-reconstruction bias below $0.3^{\circ}$ for $L \leq 5000$ km but growing to $17.8^{\circ}$ at $L = 7000$ km and $172.2^{\circ}$ at $L = 12000$ km. Since both effects share the same matter-potential Hamiltonian they must be modelled jointly; a Poisson log-likelihood $χ^2$ statistic with nuisance-parameter pull terms is used to quantify the bias.

Entanglement Signatures of CPT Violation in Neutrino Oscillations

We investigate the joint influence of CPT violation and quantum-gravity-induced Planck-scale corrections on the entanglement entropy of two-flavor neutrino oscillations. Building on the CPT-violating neutrino mass matrix arising from flavour-blind Planck-scale physics, we compute the von Neumann entanglement entropy separately for neutrinos and anti-neutrinos and demonstrate that CPT violation directly imprints an observable asymmetry in their entropy profiles. For a degenerate mass spectrum (m_ν\simeq2\,\mathrm{eV}), non-zero Majorana phases a_{1} and a_{2} are required to reproduce the solar KamLAND discrepancy; these same phases control the amplitude of the entropy asymmetry. Our results establish that entanglement entropy provides a sensitive and novel probe of CPT-violating Planck-scale physics within neutrino phenomenology.

Planck-Scale Signatures in Vacuum Neutrino Oscillations

We present a closed-form perturbative framework for two-flavour vacuum neutrino oscillations in the presence of a weak, flavour-blind Planck-scale mass correction generated by the dimension-five Weinberg operator of the Standard Model Effective Field Theory. The perturbative treatment is developed in direct structural analogy with approaches used to describe weak Earth-matter effects. We derive simple analytical expressions for the modification of the oscillation length, the oscillation phase, and the flavour-conversion probability, valid for arbitrary neutrino mixing and baseline lengths. Unlike matter-induced perturbations, the Planck-scale correction is constant along the neutrino trajectory. Consequently, its effect on the transition probability remains bounded and independent of the baseline at the amplitude level, while the associated modification of the effective mass-squared splitting produces a phase mismatch that increases linearly with propagation distance. We further present illustrative order-of-magnitude sensitivity projections for next-generation long-baseline and reactor neutrino experiments, including DUNE, Hyper-Kamiokande, and JUNO. Our results indicate that the accumulated phase drift provides a particularly promising observable for probing Planck-scale mass corrections and for distinguishing a possible quantum-gravity contribution from conventional matter-induced effects.

Probing Quantum Foundations in Long-Baseline Neutrino Oscillations: Wave Packet Approach from MINOS Data to DUNE Predictions

We investigate neutrino flavor oscillations in the wave packet formalism, extending the standard planewave treatment to incorporate the finite spatial coherence of neutrino mass eigenstates. We derive the full three flavor oscillation probability with MSW matter effects, decoherence, and localization suppression governed by the wave packet width, benchmarking against MINOS disappearance data and extending to DUNE predictions under the same parameters. To quantify how sharply the oscillation data constrain the wave packet width, we compute the classical Fisher information FC as a function of neutrino energy for both MINOS and DUNE, and show that its sensitivity is concentrated precisely in the low-energy regime where the wave-packet and plane-wave predictions diverge. Beyond the oscillation probability analysis, we compute wave particle entanglement complementarity quantities within a quantum information theoretic framework and explore the complete triality description involving entanglement, predictability, and visibility as functions of neutrino energy for both experiments such as MINOS and DUNE. We show that even when the oscillation probability is numerically indistinguishable from the planewave result, the wave packet structure leaves observable imprints in these triality measures. Our results demonstrate that the wave packet approach provides a theoretically consistent and experimentally motivated framework for probing quantum foundations in long-baseline atmospheric neutrino oscillation experiments.

Modified Entanglement Patterns in Two-Flavor Neutrinos from Quantum-Gravity Interactions

In this work, we investigate the influence of quantum gravity induced corrections on the entanglement entropy associated with two flavor neutrino oscillations in vacuum. Using the Von Neumann entropy as a measure of quantum correlations, we analyze how Planck scale suppressed modification implemented through quantum gravity motivated changes in the neutrino dispersion relation affect the evolution of entanglement during successive oscillation cycles. By performing a statistical study over a range of oscillation lengths and neutrino energies, we identify characteristic deviations in the entropy profile arising from quantum gravity effects. Our results suggest that entanglement entropy provides a sensitive probe of small quantum gravity induced departures from standard neutrino oscillation dynamics, highlighting its potential role in testing Planck scale physics within neutrino phenomenology.

Ultraviolet Flavor Transmission to T-Violating Neutrino Oscillation Observables in a Seesaw Framework with Sterile Mixing and Planck-Suppressed Corrections

We construct, numerically validate, and phenomenologically constrain a pipeline connecting a spontaneously CP-violating ultraviolet Type-I seesaw boundary condition to Planck-suppressed corrections of the T-violating oscillation asymmetry and the CP asymmetry in a minimal 3+1 sterile-neutrino framework. The ultraviolet Yukawa structure is reconstructed via Casas-Ibarra parameterization, matched onto the Weinberg operator at seesaw thresholds, and evolved to the electroweak scale using one-loop RGEs. The renormalized operator is combined with a 3+1 sterile sector to build the oscillation Hamiltonian, with Planck-suppressed terms treated perturbatively to yield closed-form first-order corrections. We report three substantive implementation errors identified and corrected during independent module validation. Running transports ultraviolet flavor structure with high fidelity distorting mixing angles and phases at or below the per-mille level despite an overall flavor-blind operator normalization run of about fifty percent. Subjecting the ultraviolet texture to a four-channel phenomenological suite (muon to electron gamma, tau to muon gamma, tau to electron gamma, non-unitarity, and perturbativity) confines the correction to the range between three in one hundred million and three in ten million at the natural scale. We prove the asymmetry correction is exactly independent of Casas-Ibarra angles at all allowed points, affecting the correction only indirectly via allowed heavy spectra. Sterile sector effects are strongly texture-dependent, ranging from suppression to a forty-fold enhancement. Evaluating the corresponding antineutrino Hamiltonian for the CP asymmetry, we find the Planck-induced correction lies two to three orders of magnitude below DUNE's published CP-phase sensitivity floor. We present this as a checked, reproducible negative phenomenological result.

Matter Profile Mismodeling as the Origin of the CP CPT Degeneracy in Long-Baseline Neutrino Oscillation

We demonstrate that approximating the Earth's density profile with a single path averaged value instead of the spatially resolved Preliminary Reference Earth Model PREM generates a joint parameter degeneracy in the $(δ_{\text{CP}}, Δ_{\text{CPT}}, θ_{\text{CPT}})$ space. At long baselines ($L \geq 5000\text{ km}$), this geometric artifact becomes entirely indistinguishable from genuine Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) physics. While previous studies established individual channel biases separately, this work provides the first analytic proof that these biases form an extended two dimensional valley within the full three-parameter space. Furthermore, we rigorously demonstrate that multi channel combinations alone are insufficient to resolve this degeneracy. A Poisson loglikelihood chi square analysis confirms that DUNE like exposures utilizing a constant density approximation would erroneously report this artifact as a $\pm3σ$ BSM discovery. Specifically, at $L = 7000\text{ km}$, the constant-density assumption shifts the recovered $δ_{\text{CP}}$ by $17.8^\circ$ and fabricates a spurious CPT violation at $Δ_{\text{CPT}} = 4.1 \times 10^{-4}\text{ eV}^2$. Consequently, full spatially resolved PREM propagation is established as a strict mathematical requirement rather than an optional refinement for the correct physical interpretation of data from next-generation long baseline experiments, including DUNE, HyperKamiokande, and P2O.

Quantum Fisher Information as a Probe of Sterile Neutrino New Physics:Geometric Advantage of KM3NeT over IceCube

We investigate a reported discrepancy between a high-energy neutrino detection at KM3NeT and its non-observation at IceCube, which suggests a statistical tension of up to 3.5 standard deviations. This gap has been proposed to arise from sterile neutrino oscillations over the 147-kilometer path to KM3NeT, driven by either matter-induced resonances or nonstandard interactions. Using the Quantum Fisher Information framework, we quantify the sensitivity of the neutrino state to these new physics couplings and establish fundamental precision limits via the quantum Cramer-Rao bound. Our analysis shows that the information available at KM3NeT exceeds that at IceCube by three orders of magnitude for matter-induced scenarios. We demonstrate that IceCube would require over thirty times more events to match the precision of a single KM3NeT detection. We identify an optimal baseline of 150 to 200 kilometers, placing KM3NeT in a superior position for these measurements. Our results show that standard detection methods already reach the ultimate quantum precision limit, and that a small number of future events at KM3NeT could provide the first quantum-limited constraints on sterile neutrino couplings.

Correlated Matter Induced Biases in Long-Baseline Neutrino Oscillation Measurements

We demonstrate that treating Earth matter effects via a constant-density approximation introduces a fundamental systematic error in long-baseline neutrino oscillation analyses. Using exact numerical propagation through realistic PREM profiles, we show that matter-profile mismodeling does not merely affect the $ν_μ\rightarrowν_{e}$ appearance probability, but generates correlated biases across the $ν_μ\rightarrowν_τ$ and $ν_μ\rightarrowν_μ$ channels as dictated by PMNS unitarity. Our stochastic analysis reveals that the $ν_μ\rightarrowν_τ$ channel is the most volatile carrier of the geophysical systematic. Across varying correlation lengths at baselines like $5000$ km and $7000$ km, the $τ$-appearance channel consistently carries a larger mean bias and variance than the standard $ν_μ\rightarrowν_{e}$ appearance channel. These findings demonstrate that spatially resolved density treatments are a mathematical necessity for the analysis frameworks of future precision neutrino facilities.

Earth-Density Stratification and Quantum Gravity Corrections in Long-Baseline Neutrino Oscillation Experiments

We present the first unified study of Earth matter-density stratification and Planck-scale quantum-gravity effects in long-baseline neutrino oscillations, treating both as correlated systematic uncertainties within a full three-flavor framework. Neutrino propagation is computed using matrix exponentiation with spatially resolved Preliminary Reference Earth Model (PREM) density profiles, allowing a quantitative assessment of matter-profile effects beyond the constant-density approximation. We find that the resulting bias in the reconstructed CP-violating phase remains below 0.3° for baselines (L \lesssim 5000) km, but increases to 17.8° at (L=7000) km and 172.2° at (L=12000) km, leading to a potential sign reversal of the inferred CP violation. We further incorporate Planck-scale corrections through the unique gauge-invariant dimension-5 operator of the Standard Model effective field theory. For quasi-degenerate neutrino masses ((m \sim 2) eV), the solar mass-squared splitting receives a correction of order ((1.0 \pm 0.5)\times10^{-5},\mathrm{eV}^2), while the atmospheric splitting remains essentially unchanged. Most importantly, we identify a previously unexplored degeneracy regime in which Planck-scale perturbations can partially compensate matter-induced biases. Around (L\approx7000) km, specific Majorana phases reduce the combined bias by about 30%, demonstrating that the two effects cannot be treated independently. These results highlight the necessity of propagating both Earth-density and quantum-gravity uncertainties as correlated systematics in precision measurements of leptonic CP violation.

Earth-Density Effects in Long Baseline Neutrino Experiments

Earth matter density uncertainties play a non trivial role in three flavor neutrino oscillations in matter, particularly for the muon to electron appearance channel that underpins CP violation measurements in long baseline experiments. We demonstrate that when realistic spatial variations of the Earths density are taken into account, the oscillation probabilities acquire additional, energy dependent structures that cannot be captured by path-averaged density approximations. We show that mismodeling of the matter density profile can introduce degeneracies that obscure genuine leptonic CP violating effects, thereby degrading parameter sensitivity and biasing the inference of the CP phase. Identifying energy regions in which CP sensitivity remains robust against matter density uncertainties is therefore essential. These considerations indicate that marginalization over a single effective density parameter is insufficient for next generation precision measurements and motivate the incorporation of spatially resolved Earth density profiles in the analysis frameworks of future long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiments.

Tripartite Entanglement as a Probe of Neutrino Mass Hierarchy, CP Violation, and Non-Standard Interactions

We investigate global tripartite quantum entanglement in three-flavor neutrino oscillations as a tool for probing the neutrino mass hierarchy and CP violation. Using the linear entropy formalism, we compute the global entanglement entropy for an initial electron neutrino state as a function of L/E, comparing Normal Ordering (NO) and Inverted Ordering (IO) across CP phases 0, 90, 120 and 180, in vacuum and in constant-density matter rho = 2.8g/cm^3, L = 1300km). We define the hierarchy sensitivity diagnostic dell S and show that MSW matter effects amplify dell S by roughly a factor of two relative to vacuum, with peak sensitivity at L/E approx 655km/GeV (approx 2GeV at the DUNE baseline). For antineutrinos the diagnostic is near-perfectly antisymmetric to the neutrino case at the MSW resonance, with deviations directly encoding dell CP. ANnother diagonostic defined here separates the matter hierarchy signal from the CP asymmetry signal in the tripartite entanglement. For non-standard interactions (NSI) parameterized by epsilon_{ee}, we find Dell S{max} is approx 0.113 + 0.105epsilon_{ee}, a linear and CP-phase-independent relation. The optimal L/E for hierarchy discrimination is stable at approx 655km/GeV for all epsilon_{ee}less than or equal to 0.2, providing a robust, NSI-independent energy recommendation for DUNE.

Modified Entanglement Patterns in Four-Flavor Neutrinos from Quantum-Gravity Interactions

We investigate the influence of quantum-gravity (QG) induced corrections on the entanglement entropy associated with four-flavor neutrino oscillations in vacuum, incorporating an additional sterile neutrino in the (3+1) framework. Using the von Neumann entropy as a measure of quantum correlations, we analyze how Planck-scale suppressed modifications to the neutrino mass-squared differences and the extended mixing matrix affect the evolution of entanglement during successive oscillation cycles. The quantum-gravity corrections are implemented through a dimension-5 effective field theory operator that modifies the four-flavor PMNS matrix and all six mixing angles above the GUT scale. We find that the atmospheric mixing angle θ_{23} undergoes the largest deviation due to Planck-scale effects, while angles θ_{14}, θ_{24}, and θ_{34} remain essentially unchanged. The resulting QG-corrected oscillation probabilities produce characteristic deviations in the entanglement entropy profile as a function of L/E, providing a sensitive probe of Planck-scale physics within a four-flavor neutrino phenomenology framework.

Sterile Neutrinos as a Dynamical Cosmological Fluid: Implications for the Expansion History and Matter-Radiation Equality

Sterile neutrinos arise naturally in extensions of the Standard Model and can affect cosmological evolution even with subdominant abundance. Their impact is often described by a constant shift in the effective number of relativistic species, Delta Neff, assuming a radiation-like equation of state. However, for finite mass sterile neutrinos with incomplete thermalization, the equation of state evolves with time. In this work, we develop an analytic framework treating sterile neutrinos as a dynamical cosmological fluid with a time-dependent equation of state. Starting from the Boltzmann equation in an expanding Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker background, we show that suppressed active-sterile oscillations lead to a reduced Fermi-Dirac distribution characterized by a thermalization parameter less than unity. We compute the resulting energy density and pressure and incorporate them into the Friedmann equations. We identify distinct regimes, including a relativistic phase, a transition phase, and a matter-like behavior. For GeV scale sterile neutrinos, their contribution at matter-radiation equality is effectively matter-like, shifting the equality epoch in proportion to their energy fraction. Observational constraints indicate that this fraction remains small. This framework connects microscopic production physics to cosmological expansion and goes beyond the standard Delta Neff description.

NeutrinoOsc3Flavor: CP Phase Dependence in Three-Flavor Neutrino Oscillations: A Numerical Study in Vacuum and Matter

We present NeutrinoOsc3Flavor, a lightweight and fully transparent computational framework for exact three flavor neutrino oscillation studies in vacuum and constant density matter. The code numerically solves the Schrodinger evolution equation in the flavor basis using explicit construction and diagonalization of the effective Hamiltonian within the PMNS formalism, including full CP Violating phase dependence. In contrast to large scale oscillation toolkits optimized for experimental simulations, NeutrinoOsc3Flavor is designed as a minimal dependency reference implementation, emphasizing analytical traceability, equation level accessibility, and cross platform portability. The framework relies solely on NumPy for numerical linear algebra and runs natively on both Linux and Windows systems without external compilation or specialized libraries. As an internal consistency and validation feature, we implement an independent analytical determination of the matter modified Hamiltonian eigenvalues using the Cardano method and demonstrate excellent agreement with numerical diagonalization. CP Phase dependence is used as a sensitive diagnostic of numerical stability and correctness of the evolution operator in both vacuum and matter. NeutrinoOsc3Flavor is intended as a verification oriented and pedagogical computational tool, suitable for theoretical cross-checks, educational use, and benchmarking of more complex neutrino oscillation software, rather than as a replacement for full experimental simulation frameworks. Here, we consider the DUNE experiments baseline length in the python implementation but in general we can implement any value of baseline length.
