From Minkowski to de Sitter Vacua with Various Geometries

New no-scale supergravity models with F-term SUSY breaking are introduced, adopting Kaehler potentials parameterizing flat or curved (compact or non-compact) Kaehler manifolds. We systematically derive the form of the superpotentials leading to Minkowski vacua. Combining two types of these superpotentials we can also determine de Sitter or anti-de Sitter vacua. The construction can be easily extended to multi-modular settings of mixed geometry. The corresponding soft SUSY-breaking parameters are also derived.

E- & T-Model Hybrid Inflation

We consider the impact of a kinetic pole of order one or two on the non-supersymmetric model of hybrid inflation. These poles arise due to logarithmic Kaehler potentials which control the kinetic mixing of the inflaton field and parameterize hyperbolic manifolds with scalar curvature related to the coefficient (-N)<0 of the logarithm. Inflation is associated with the breaking of a local SU(2)xU(1) symmetry, which does not produce any cosmological defects after it, and remains largely immune from the minimal possible radiative corrections to the inflationary potential. For N=1 and equal values of the relevant coupling constants, lambda and kappa, the achievement of the observationally central value of ns requires the mass parameter, m, and the symmetry breaking scale, M, to be of the order of 10^12 GeV and 10^17 GeV respectively. Increasing N above unity the tensor-to-scalar ratio r increases above 0.002 and reaches its maximal allowed value for N~10-20.

Formulating E- & T-Model Inflation in Supergravity

We present novel realizations of E- and T-model inflation within Supergravity which are largely associated with the existence of a pole of order one and two respectively in the kinetic term of the inflaton superfield. This pole arises due to the selected logarithmic Kahler potentials K, which parameterize hyperbolic manifolds with scalar curvature related to the coefficient (-N)<0 of a logarithmic term. The associated superpotential W exhibits the same R charge with the inflaton-accompanying superfield and includes all the allowed terms. The role of the inflaton can be played by a gauge singlet or non-singlet superfield. Models with one logarithmic term in K for the inflaton, require N=2, some tuning -- of the order of 10^-5 -- between the terms of W and predict a tensor-to-scalar ratio r at the level of 0.001. The tuning can be totally eluded for more structured K's, with N values increasing with r and spectral index close or even equal to its present central observational value.

Pole Inflation in Supergravity

We show how we can implement within Supergravity chaotic inflation in the presence of a pole of order one or two in the kinetic mixing of the inflaton sector. The associated superpotential W exhibits the same R charge with the inflaton-accompanying superfield and includes all the allowed terms. An Alternative Framework for E-Model Inflation in Supergravity

We present novel realizations of E-model inflation within Supergravity which are largely associated with the existence of a pole of order one in the kinetic term of the (gauge-singlet) inflaton superfield. This pole arises due to the selected logarithmic Kahler potentials K1 and ~K1, which parameterize the same hyperbolic manifold with scalar curvature R=-2/N, where N>0 is the coefficient of a logarithmic term. The associated superpotential W exhibits the same R charge with the inflaton-accompanying superfield and includes all the allowed renormalizable terms. For K=K1, inflation can be attained for N=2 at the cost of some tuning regarding the coefficients of the W terms and predicts a tensor-to-scalar ratio r at the level of 0.001. The tuning can be totally eluded for K=~K1, which allows for quadratic- and quartic-like models with N values increasing with r and spectral index ns close or even equal to its present central observational value.

Pole-Induced Higgs Inflation With Hyperbolic Kaehler Geometries

We present novel realizations of Higgs inflation within Supergravity which are largely tied to the existence of a pole of order two in the kinetic term of the inflaton field. This pole arises due to the selected Kaehler potentials which parameterize the (SU(1,1)/U(1))^2 or SU(2,1)/(SU(2)xU(1)) manifolds with scalar curvatures R_{(11)^2}=-4/N or R_{21}=-3/N respectively. The associated superpotential includes, in addition to the Higgs superfields, a stabilizer superfield, respects the gauge and an R symmetries and contains the first allowed nonrenormalizable term. If the coefficient of this term is almost equal to that of the renormalizable terms within about 10^-5 and N=1, the inflationary observables can be done compatible with the present data and the scale M of gauge-symmetry breaking may assume its value within MSSM. Increasing M beyond this value, though, inflation may be attained with less tuning. Modifications to the Kaehler potentials associated with the manifolds above allow for inflation, realized with just renormalizable terms, resulting to higher tensor-to-scalar ratios as N approaches its maximum at N=40.

Gravity-Mediated SUSY Breaking, R Symmetry and Hyperbolic Kaehler Geometry

A novel realization of the gravity-mediated SUSY breaking is presented taking into account a continuous global R symmetry. Consistently with it, we employ a linear superpotential for the hidden sector superfield and a Kaehler potential parameterizing the SU(1,1)/U(1) Kaehler manifold with constant curvature -1/2. The classical vacuum energy vanishes without unnatural fine tuning and non-vanishing soft SUSY-breaking parameters, of the order of the gravitino mass, arise. A solution to the mu problem of MSSM may be also achieved by conveniently applying the Giudice-Masiero mechanism. The potentially troublesome R axion may acquire acceptably large mass by explicitly breaking the R symmetry in the Kaehler potential through a quartic term which does not affect, though, the achievements above.

SUSY-Breaking Scenarios With a Mildly Violated R Symmetry

New realizations of the gravity-mediated SUSY breaking are presented consistently with an R symmetry. We employ monomial superpotential terms for the hidden-sector (goldstino) superfield and Kahler potentials parameterizing compact or non-compact Kahler manifolds. Their scalar curvature may be systematically related to the R charge of the goldstino so that Minkowski solutions without fine tuning are achieved. A mild violation of the R symmetry by a higher order term in the Kahler potentials allows for phenomenologically acceptable masses for the R axion. In all cases, non-vanishing soft SUSY-breaking parameters are obtained and a solution to the mu problem of MSSM may be accommodated by conveniently applying the Giudice-Masiero mechanism.

Unitarizing non-Minimal Inflation via a Linear Contribution to the Frame Function

We show that non-minimal inflation, based on the phi^4 potential, may be rendered unitarity conserving and compatible with the Planck results for 4.6x10^(-3)<~r21=c2R/c1R^2<~1, if we introduce a linear contribution (c1R phi) to the frame function which takes the form fR=1+c1R phi+c2R phi^2. Supersymmetrization of this model can be achieved by considering two gauge singlet superfields and combining a linear-quadratic superpotential term, with a class of logarithmic or semi-logarithmic Kaehler potentials with prefactor for the logarithms including the inflaton field -(2n+3) or -2(n+1) where -0.01<~ n<~0.013.

Unitarity-Safe Models of Non-Minimal Inflation in Supergravity

We show that models of chaotic inflation based on the phi^p potential and a linear non-minimal coupling to gravity, fR=1+cR phi, can be done consistent with data in the context of Supergravity, retaining the perturbative unitarity up to the Planck scale, if we employ logarithmic Kahler potentials with prefactors -p(1+n) or -p(n+1)-1, where -0.035<= n<=0.007 for p=2 or -0.0145<= n<=0.006 for p=4. Focusing, moreover, on a model employing a gauge non-singlet inflaton, we show that a solution to the mu problem of MSSM and baryogenesis via non-thermal leptogensesis can be also accommodated.

B-L Higgs Inflation in Supergravity With Several Consequences

We consider a renormalizable extension of the minimal supersymmetric standard model endowed by an R and a gauged B - L symmetry. The model incorporates chaotic inflation driven by a quartic potential, associated with the Higgs field which leads to a spontaneous breaking of U(1)B-L, and yields possibly detectable gravitational waves. We employ semi-logarithmic Kahler potentials with an enhanced symmetry which include only quadratic terms and integer prefactor for the logarithms. An explanation of the mu term of the MSSM is also provided, consistently with the low energy phenomenology, under the condition that one related parameter in the superpotential is somewhat small. Baryogenesis occurs via non-thermal leptogenesis which is realized by the inflaton's decay to the lightest or next-to-lightest right-handed neutrinos.

Gravitational Waves, mu Term & Leptogenesis from B-L Higgs Inflation in Supergravity

We employ quadratic Kahler potentials with a prominent shift-symmetric part proportional to c- and a tiny violation, proportional to c+, included in a logarithm with prefactor -N<0. It also offers an explanation of mu term of the MSSM provided that one related parameter in the superpotential is somewhat small. Baryogenesis occurs via non-thermal leptogenesis which is realized by the inflaton's decay to the lightest or next-to-lightest right-handed neutrino with masses lower than 1.8x10^13 GeV. Our scenario can be confronted with the current data on the inflationary observables, the baryon asymmetry of the universe, the gravitino limit on the reheating temperature and the data on the neutrino oscillation parameters, for 0.012<=c+/c-<1/N and gravitino as light as 1 TeV.

Observable Gravitational Waves From Higgs Inflation in SUGRA

We consider models of chaotic inflation driven by the real parts of a conjugate pair of Higgs superfields involved in the spontaneous breaking of a grand unification symmetry at a scale assuming its supersymmetric value. Employing quadratic Kaehler potentials with a prominent shift-symmetric part proportional to c- and a tiny violation, proportional to c+, included in a logarithm we show that the inflationary observables provide an excellent match to the recent Planck and Bicep2/Keck Array results setting, e.g., 0.012<=c+/c-<1/N where -N<0 is the prefactor of the logarithm. Moreover, we analyze several possible stabilization mechanisms for the non-inflaton accompanying superfield using just quadratic terms. In all cases, inflation can be attained for subplanckian inflaton values with the corresponding effective theories retaining the perturbative unitarity up to the Planck scale.

Kinetically Modified Non-Minimal Inflation With Exponential Frame Function

We consider Supersymmetric (SUSY) and non-SUSY models of chaotic inflation based on the phi^n potential with n=2 or 4. We show that the coexistence of an exponential nonminimal coupling to gravity, fR=Exp(cR phi^p), with a kinetic mixing of the form fK=cK fR^m can accommodate inflationary observables favored by the Planck and Bicep2/Keck Array results for p=1 and 2, 1<=m<=15 and 2.6x10^(-3)<=rRK=cR/cK^(p/2)<=1, where the upper limit is not imposed for p=1. Inflation is of hilltop type and it can be attained for subplanckian inflaton values with the corresponding effective theories retaining the perturbative unitarity up to the Planck scale. The supergravity embedding of these models is achieved employing two chiral gauge singlet supefields, a monomial superpotential and several (semi)logarithmic or semipolynomial Kaehler potentials.

Linking Starobinsky-Type Inflation in no-Scale Supergravity to MSSM

A novel realization of the Starobinsky inflationary model within a moderate extension of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) is presented. The proposed superpotential is uniquely determined by applying a continuous R and a Z_2 discrete symmetry, whereas the Kahler potential respects a no-scale-type SU(54,1)/SU(54)x U(1)_R x Z_2 symmetry too. The inflaton is identified with a Higgs-like modulus whose the vacuum expectation value controls the gravitational strength. Thanks to a strong enough coupling (with a parameter cT involved) between the inflaton and the Ricci scalar curvature, inflation can be attained even for subplanckian values of the inflaton with cT>76 and the corresponding effective theory being valid up to the Planck scale. The inflationary observables turn out to be in agreement with the current data and the inflaton mass is predicted to be 3x10^13 GeV. At the cost of a relatively small superpotential coupling constant, the model offers also a resolution to the mu problem of the MSSM. Supplementing MSSM by three right-handed neutrinos we show that spontaneously arising couplings between the inflaton and the particle content of MSSM not only ensure a sufficiently low reheating temperature but also support a scenario of non-thermal leptogenesis consistently with the neutrino oscillation parameters for gravitino heavier than about 10^4 GeV.

Starobinsky Inflation: From Non-SUSY To SUGRA Realizations

We review the realization of Starobinsky-type inflation within induced-gravity Supersymmetric (SUSY) and non-SUSY models. In both cases, inflation is in agreement with the current data and can be attained for subplanckian values of the inflaton. The corresponding effective theories retain perturbative unitarity up to the Planck scale and the inflaton mass is predicted to be 3x10^13 GeV. The supergravity embedding of these models is achieved by employing two gauge singlet chiral supefields, a superpotential that is uniquely determined by a continuous R and a discrete Zn symmetry, and several (semi)logarithmic Kaehler potentials that respect these symmetries. Checking various functional forms for the non-inflaton accompanying field in the Kaehler potentials, we identify four cases which stabilize it without invoking higher order terms.

Variants of Kinetically Modified Non-Minimal Higgs Inflation in Supergravity

We consider models of chaotic inflation driven by the real parts of a conjugate pair of Higgs superfields involved in the spontaneous breaking of a grand unification symmetry at a scale assuming its Supersymmetric value. Employing Kaehler potentials with a prominent shift-symmetric part proportional to c- and a tiny violation, proportional to c+, included in a logarithm we show that the inflationary observables provide an excellent match to the recent Planck and Bicep2/Keck Array results setting, e.g., 0.0064<= c+/c-<1/N where N=2 or 3 is the prefactor of the logarithm. Deviations of these prefactors from their integer values above are also explored and a region where hilltop inflation occurs is localized. Moreover, we analyze two distinct possible stabilization mechanisms for the non-inflaton accompanying superfield, one tied to higher order terms and one with just quadratic terms within the argument of a logarithm with positive prefactor Ns<6. In all cases, inflation can be attained for subplanckian inflaton values with the corresponding effective theories retaining the perturbative unitarity up to the Planck scale.

Shift Symmetry and Higgs Inflation in Supergravity with Observable Gravitational Waves

We demonstrate how to realize within supergravity a novel chaotic-type inflationary scenario driven by the radial parts of a conjugate pair of Higgs superfields causing the spontaneous breaking of a grand unified gauge symmetry at a scale assuming the value of the supersymmetric grand unification scale. The superpotential is uniquely determined at the renormalizable level by the gauge symmetry and a continuous R symmetry. We select two types of Kahler potentials, which respect these symmetries as well as an approximate shift symmetry. In particular, they include in a logarithm a dominant shift-symmetric term proportional to a parameter c- together with a small term violating this symmetry and characterized by a parameter c+. In both cases, imposing a lower bound on c-, inflation can be attained with subplanckian values of the original inflaton, while the corresponding effective theory respects perturbative unitarity for r+-=c+/c-<1. These inflationary models do not lead to overproduction of cosmic defects, are largely independent of the one-loop radiative corrections and accommodate, for natural values of r+-, observable gravitational waves consistently with all the current observational data. The inflaton mass is mostly confined in the range (3.7-8.1)x10^10 GeV.
