Application of nonlinear deformation algebra to a physical system with Pöschl-Teller potential

We comment on a recent paper by Chen, Liu, and Ge (J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. 31 (1998) 6473), wherein a nonlinear deformation of su(1,1) involving two deforming functions is realized in the exactly solvable quantum-mechanical problem with P\" oschl-Teller potential, and is used to derive the well-known su(1,1) spectrum-generating algebra of this problem. We show that one of the defining relations of the nonlinear algebra, presented by the authors, is only valid in the limiting case of an infinite square well, and we determine the correct relation in the general case. We also use it to establish the correct link with su(1,1), as well as to provide an algebraic derivation of the eigenfunction normalization constant.

C$_λ$-extended Oscillator Algebras: Theory and Applications to (Variants) of Supersymmetric Quantum Mechanics

C$_λ$-extended oscillator algebras, where C$_λ$ is the cyclic group of order $λ$, are introduced and realized as generalized deformed oscillator algebras. For $λ=2$, they reduce to the well-known Calogero-Vasiliev algebra. For higher $λ$ values, they are shown to provide in their bosonic Fock space representation some interesting applications to supersymmetric quantum mechanics and some variants thereof: an algebraic realization of supersymmetric quantum mechanics for cyclic shape invariant potentials of period $λ$, a bosonization of parasupersymmetric quantum mechanics of order $p = λ-1$, and, for $λ=3$, a bosonization of pseudosupersymmetric quantum mechanics and orthosupersymmetric quantum mechanics of order two.

Interpretation and Extension of the Green's Ansatz for Paraparticles

The anomalous bilinear commutation relations satisfied by the components of the Green's ansatz for paraparticles are shown to derive from the comultiplication of the paraboson or parafermion algebra. The same provides a generalization of the ansatz, wherein paraparticles of order $p=\sum_{α=1}^r p_α$ are constructed from r paraparticles of order $p_α$, $α$=1,2, ...,r.

suq(2)-Invariant Schrodinger Equation of the Three-Dimensional Harmonic Oscillator

We propose a q-deformation of the su(2)-invariant Schrodinger equation of a spinless particle in a central potential, which allows us not only to determine a deformed spectrum and the corresponding eigenstates, as in other approaches, but also to calculate the expectation values of some physically-relevant operators. Here we consider the case of the isotropic harmonic oscillator and of the quadrupole operator governing its interaction with an external field. We obtain the spectrum and wave functions both for q in R+ and generic q in S1, and study the effects of the q-value range and of the arbitrariness in the suq(2) Casimir operator choice. We then show that the quadrupole operator in l=0 states provides a good measure of the deformation influence on the wave functions and on the Hilbert space spanned by them.

Covariant (hh')-Deformed Bosonic and Fermionic Algebras as Contraction Limits of q-Deformed Ones

$GL_h(n) \times GL_{h'}(m)$-covariant (hh')-bosonic (or (hh')-fermionic) algebras ${\cal A}_{hh'\pm}(n,m)$ are built in terms of the corresponding R_h and $R_{h'}$-matrices by contracting the $GL_q(n) \times GL_{q^{\pm1}}(m)$-covariant q-bosonic (or q-fermionic) algebras ${\cal A}^{(α)}_{q\pm}(n,m)$, $α= 1, 2$. When using a basis of ${\cal A}^{(α)}_{q\pm}(n,m)$ wherein the annihilation operators are contragredient to the creation ones, this contraction procedure can be carried out for any n, m values. When employing instead a basis wherein the annihilation operators, as the creation ones, are irreducible tensor operators with respect to the dual quantum algebra $U_q(gl(n)) \otimes U_{q^{\pm1}}(gl(m))$, a contraction limit only exists for $n, m \in \{1, 2, 4, 6, ...\}$. For n=2, m=1, and n=m=2, the resulting relations can be expressed in terms of coupled (anti)commutators (as in the classical case), by using $U_h(sl(2))$ (instead of sl(2)) Clebsch-Gordan coefficients. Some U_h(sl(2)) rank-1/2 irreducible tensor operators, recently constructed by Aizawa, are shown to provide a realization of ${\cal A}_{h\pm}(2,1)$.

Algebraic Realization of Supersymmetric Quantum Mechanics for Cyclic Shape Invariant Potentials

We study in detail the spectrum of the bosonic oscillator Hamiltonian associated with the $C_3$-extended oscillator algebra \algthree, where $C_3$ denotes a cyclic group of order three, and classify the various types of spectra in terms of the algebra parameters $α_0, α_1$. In such a classification, we identify those spectra having an infinite number of periodically spaced levels, similar to those of cyclic shape invariant potentials of period three. We prove that the hierarchy of supersymmetric Hamiltonians and supercharges, corresponding to the latter, can be realized in terms of some appropriately chosen \algthree algebras, and of Pauli spin matrices. Extension to period-$λ$ spectra in terms of $C_λ$-extended oscillator algebras is outlined.

On Jordanian U_{h,α}(gl(2)) Algebra and Its T Matrices Via a Contraction Method

The $R_h^{j_1;j_2}$ matrices of the Jordanian U$_h$(sl(2)) algebra at arbitrary dimensions may be obtained from the corresponding $R_q^{j_1;j_2}$ matrices of the standard $q$-deformed U$_q$(sl(2)) algebra through a contraction technique. By extending this method, the coloured two-parametric ($h, α$) Jordanian $R_{h,α}^{j_1,z_1;j_2,z_2}$ matrices of the U$_{h,α}$(gl(2)) algebra may be derived from the corresponding coloured $R_{q,λ}^{j_1,z_1;j_2,z_2}$ matrices of the standard ($q, λ$)-deformed U$_{q,λ}$(gl(2)) algebra. Moreover, by using the contraction process as a tool, the coloured $T_{h,α}^{j,z}$ matrices for arbitrary ($j, z$) representations of the Jordanian Fun$_{h,α}$(GL(2)) algebra may be extracted from the corresponding $T_{q,λ}^{j,z}$ matrices of the standard Fun$_{q,λ}$(GL(2)) algebra.

Nonstandard GL_h(n) quantum groups and contraction of covariant q-bosonic algebras

$GL_h(n) \times GL_h(m)$-covariant $h$-bosonic algebras are built by contracting the $GL_q(n) \times GL_q(m)$-covariant $q$-bosonic algebras considered by the present author some years ago. Their defining relations are written in terms of the corresponding $R_h$-matrices. Whenever $n=2$, and $m=1$ or 2, it is proved by using U_h(sl(2)) Clebsch-Gordan coefficients that they can also be expressed in terms of coupled commutators in a way entirely similar to the classical case. Some U_h(sl(2)) rank-1/2 irreducible tensor operators, recently contructed by Aizawa in terms of standard bosonic operators, are shown to provide a realization of the $h$-bosonic algebra corresponding to $n=2$ and $m=1$.

Unitary Representations of Su_q(2) on the Plane for q in R+ or Generic q in S1

Some time ago, Rideau and Winternitz introduced a realization of the quantum algebra su_q(2) on a real two-dimensional sphere, or a real plane, and constructed a basis for its representations in terms of q-special functions, which can be expressed in terms of q-Vilenkin functions. In their study, the values of q were implicitly restricted to q in R^+. In the present paper, we extend their work to the case of generic values of q in S^1 (i.e., q values different from a root of unity). In addition, we unitarize the representations for both types of q values, q in R^+ and generic q in S^1, by determining some appropriate scalar products.

C_λ-extended oscillator algebra and parasupersymmetric quantum mechanics

The C_λ-extended oscillator algebra is generated by {1,a,a^{\dagger},N,T}, where T is the generator of the cyclic group C_λ of order λ. It can be realized as a generalized deformed oscillator algebra (GDOA). Its unirreps can thus be exhibited using the representation theory of GDOAs and their carrier space show a Z_λ grading structure. Within its infinite-dimensional Fock space representation, this algebra provides a bosonization of parasupersymmetric quantum mechanics of order p= λ- 1.

Unitary representations of the quantum algebra su_q(2) on a real two-dimensional sphere for $q \in R^+$ or generic $q \in S^1$

Some time ago, Rideau and Winternitz introduced a realization of the quantum algebra su_q(2) on a real two-dimensional sphere, or a real plane, and constructed a basis for its representations in terms of q-special functions, which can be expressed in terms of q-Vilenkin functions, and are related to little q-Jacobi functions, q-spherical functions, and q-Legendre polynomials. In their study, the values of q were implicitly restricted to $q \in R^+$. In the present paper, we extend their work to the case of generic values of $q \in S^1$ (i.e., q values different from a root of unity). In addition, we unitarize the representations for both types of q values, $q \in R^+$ and generic $q \in S^1$, by determining some appropriate scalar products. From the latter, we deduce the orthonormality relations satisfied by the q-Vilenkin functions.

$C_λ$-extended harmonic oscillator and (para)supersymmetric quantum mechanics

$C_λ$-extended oscillator algebras are realized as generalized deformed oscillator algebras. For $λ= 3$, the spectrum of the corresponding bosonic oscillator Hamiltonian is shown to strongly depend on the algebra parameters. A connection with cyclic shape invariant potentials is noted. A bosonization of PSSQM of order two is obtained.

Coloured Hopf algebras and their duals

Coloured Hopf algebras, related to the coloured Yang-Baxter equation, are reviewed, as well as their duals. The special case of coloured quantum universal enveloping algebras provides a coloured extension of Drinfeld and Jimbo formalism. The universal $\cal T$-matrix is then generalized to the coloured context, and shown to lead to an algebraic formulation of the coloured RTT-relations, previously proposed by Basu-Mallick as part of a coloured extension of Faddeev, Reshetikhin, and Takhtajan approach to quantum groups and quantum algebras.

Duals of coloured quantum universal enveloping algebras and coloured universal $\cal T$-matrices

We extend the notion of dually conjugate Hopf (super)algebras to the coloured Hopf (super)algebras ${\cal H}^c$ that we recently introduced. We show that if the standard Hopf (super)algebras ${\cal H}_q$ that are the building blocks of ${\cal H}^c$ have Hopf duals ${\cal H}_q^*$, then the latter may be used to construct coloured Hopf duals ${\cal H}^{c*}$, endowed with coloured algebra and antipode maps, but with a standard coalgebraic structure. Next, we review the case where the ${\cal H}_q$'s are quantum universal enveloping algebras of Lie (super)algebras $U_q(g)$, so that the corresponding ${\cal H}_q^*$'s are quantum (super)groups $G_q$. We extend the Fronsdal and Galindo universal ${\cal T}$-matrix formalism to the coloured pairs $(U^c(g), G^c)$ by defining coloured universal ${\cal T}$-matrices. We then show that together with the coloured universal $\cal R$-matrices previously introduced, the latter provide an algebraic formulation of the coloured RTT-relations, proposed by Basu-Mallick. This establishes a link between the coloured extensions of Drinfeld-Jimbo and Faddeev-Reshetikhin-Takhtajan pictures of quantum groups and quantum algebras. Finally, we illustrate the construction of coloured pairs by giving some explicit results for the two-parameter deformations of $\bigl(U(gl(2)), Gl(2)\bigr)$, and $\bigl(U(gl(1/1)), Gl(1/1)\bigr)$.

Generalized Morse Potential: Symmetry and Satellite Potentials

We study in detail the bound state spectrum of the generalized Morse potential~(GMP), which was proposed by Deng and Fan as a potential function for diatomic molecules. By connecting the corresponding Schrödinger equation with the Laplace equation on the hyperboloid and the Schrödinger equation for the Pöschl-Teller potential, we explain the exact solvability of the problem by an $so(2,2)$ symmetry algebra, and obtain an explicit realization of the latter as $su(1,1) \oplus su(1,1)$. We prove that some of the $so(2,2)$ generators connect among themselves wave functions belonging to different GMP's (called satellite potentials). The conserved quantity is some combination of the potential parameters instead of the level energy, as for potential algebras. Hence, $so(2,2)$ belongs to a new class of symmetry algebras. We also stress the usefulness of our algebraic results for simplifying the calculation of Frank-Condon factors for electromagnetic transitions between rovibrational levels based on different electronic states.

Three-body Generalizations of the Sutherland Problem

The three-particle Hamiltonian obtained by replacing the two-body trigonometric potential of the Sutherland problem by a three-body one of a similar form is shown to be exactly solvable. When written in appropriate variables, its eigenfunctions can be expressed in terms of Jack symmetric polynomials. The exact solvability of the problem is explained by a hidden $sl(3,R)$ symmetry. A generalized Sutherland three-particle problem including both two- and three-body trigonometric potentials and internal degrees of freedom is then considered. It is analyzed in terms of three first-order noncommuting differential-difference operators, which are constructed by combining SUSYQM supercharges with the elements of the dihedral group~$D_6$. Three alternative commuting operators are also introduced.
