Lie rackoids integrating Courant algebroids

We construct an infinite dimensional Lie rackoid Y which hosts an integration of the standard Courant algebroid. As a set, Y = C $\infty$ ([0, 1], T * M) for a compact manifold M. The rackoid product is by automorphisms of the Dorfman bracket. The first part of the article is a study of the Lie rackoid Y and its tangent Leibniz algebroid a quotient of which is the standard Courant algebroid. In a second part, we study the equivalence relation related to the quotient on the rackoid level and restrict then to an integrable Dirac structure. We show how our integrating object contains the corresponding integrating Weinstein Lie groupoid in the case where the Dirac structure is given by a Poisson structure.

Properties of field functionals and characterization of local functionals

Functionals (i.e. functions of functions) are widely used in quantum field theory and solid-state physics. In this paper, functionals are given a rigorous mathematical framework and their main properties are described. The choice of the proper space of test functions (smooth functions) and of the relevant concept of differential (Bastiani differential) are discussed. The relation between the multiple derivatives of a functional and the corresponding distributions is described in detail. It is proved that, in a neighborhood of every test function, the support of a smooth functional is uniformly compactly supported and the order of the corresponding distribution is uniformly bounded. Relying on a recent work by Yoann Dabrowski, several spaces of functionals are furnished with a complete and nuclear topology. In view of physical applications, it is shown that most formal manipulations can be given a rigorous meaning. A new concept of local functionals is proposed and two characterizations of them are given: the first one uses the additivity (or Hammerstein) property, the second one is a variant of Peetre's theorem. Finally, the first step of a cohomological approach to quantum field theory is carried out by proving a global Poincaré lemma and defining multi-vector fields and graded functionals within our framework.

Cotangent paths as coisotropic subsets for local functions

We establish a local function version of a classical result claiming that a bivector field on a manifold $M$ is Poisson if and only if cotangent paths form a coisotropic set of the infinite dimensional symplectic manifold of paths valued in $T^*M$. Our purpose here is to prove this result without using the Banach manifold setting, setting which fails in the periodic case because cotangent loops do not form a Banach sub-manifold. Instead, we use local functions on the path space, a point of view that allows to speak of a coisotropic set.

Lie rackoids

We define a new differential geometric structure, called Lie rackoid. It relates to Leibniz algebroids exactly as Lie groupoids relate to Lie algebroids. Its main ingredient is a selfdistributive product on the manifold of bisections of a smooth precategory. We show that the tangent algebroid of a Lie rackoid is a Leibniz algebroid and that Lie groupoids gives rise via conjugation to a Lie rackoid. Our main objective are large classes of examples, including a Lie rackoid integrating the Dorfman bracket without the cocycle term of the standard Courant algebroid.

A cohomological framework for homotopy moment maps

Given a Lie group acting on a manifold $M$ preserving a closed $n+1$-form $ω$, the notion of homotopy moment map for this action was introduced in Callies-Fregier-Rogers-Zambon [6], in terms of $L_{\infty}$-algebra morphisms. In this note we describe homotopy moment maps as coboundaries of a certain complex. This description simplifies greatly computations, and we use it to study various properties of homotopy moment maps: their relation to equivariant cohomology, their obstruction theory, how they induce new ones on mapping spaces, and their equivalences. The results we obtain extend some of the results of [6].

Global Action-Angle Variables for Non-Commutative Integrable Systems

In this paper we analyze the obstructions to the existence of global action-angle variables for regular non-commutative integrable systems (NCI systems) on Poisson manifolds. In contrast with local action-angle variables, which exist as soon as the fibers of the momentum map of such an integrable system are compact, global action-angle variables rarely exist. This fact was first observed and analyzed by Duistermaat in the case of Liouville integrable systems on symplectic manifolds and later by Dazord-Delzant in the case of non-commutative integrable systems on symplectic manifolds. In our more general case where phase space is an arbitrary Poisson manifold, there are more obstructions, as we will show both abstractly and on concrete examples. Our approach makes use of a few new features which we introduce: the action bundle and the action lattice bundle of the NCI system (these bundles are canonically defined) and three foliations (the action, angle and transverse foliation), whose existence is also subject to obstructions, often of a cohomological nature.

Forme semi-locale des feuilletages legendriens

We describe a semi-local canonical form for Legendrian foliations on contact manifolds in the neighbourhood of a Legendrian submanifold. This result generalizes local results by Libermann and Pang on Legendrian foliations on contact manifolds, and is analogeous to a semi-local result by Weinstein in the symplectic case. For the proof, we introduce and use a class of cohomology that obstructs the possibility to make a Legendrian foliation flat.

Coupling symmetries with Poisson structures

We study local normal forms for completely integrable systems on Poisson manifolds in the presence of additional symmetries. The symmetries that we consider are encoded in actions of compact Lie groups. The existence of Weinstein's splitting theorem for the integrable system is also studied giving some examples in which such a splitting does not exist, i.e. when the integrable system is not, locally, a product of an integrable system on the symplectic leaf and an integrable system on a transversal. The problem of splitting for integrable systems with additional symmetries is also considered.

Exponential map and $L_\infty$ algebra associated to a Lie pair

In this note, we unveil homotopy-rich algebraic structures generated by the Atiyah classes relative to a Lie pair $(L,A)$ of algebroids. In particular, we prove that the quotient $L/A$ of such a pair admits an essentially canonical homotopy module structure over the Lie algebroid $A$, which we call Kapranov module.

Hom-Lie algebroids

We define hom-Lie algebroids, a definition that may seem cumbersome at first, but which is justified, first, by a one-to-one corespondence with hom-Gerstenhaber algebras, a notion that we also introduce, and several examples, including hom-Poisson structures.

Hierarchies and compatibility on Courant algebroids

We extend to the context of Courant algebroids several hierarchies that can be constructed on Poisson-Nijenhuis manifolds. More precisely, we introduce several notions (Poisson-Nijenhuis, deformation-Nijenhuis and Nijenhuis pairs) that extend to Courant algebroids the notion of a Poisson-Nijenhuis manifold, by using the idea that both the Poisson and the Nijenhuis structures, although they seem to be different in nature when considered on manifolds, are just $(1,1)$-tensors on the usual Courant algebroid $TM \oplus T^*M $ satisfying several constraints. For each of the generalizations mentioned, we show that there are natural hierarchies obtained by successive deformation by one of the $(1,1)$-tensor.

Jacobi structures in supergeometric formalism

We use the supergeometric formalism, more precisely, the so-called "big bracket" (for which brackets and anchors are encoded by functions on some graded symplectic manifold) to address the theory of Jacobi algebroids and bialgebroids (following mainly Iglesias-Marrero and Grabowski-Marmo as a guideline). This formalism is in particular efficient to define the Jacobi-Gerstenhaber algebra structure associated to a Jacobi algebroid, to define its Poissonization, and to express the compatibility condition defining Jacobi bialgebroids. Also, we claim that this supergeometric language gives a simple description of the Jacobi bialgebroid associated to Jacobi structures, and conversely, of the Jacobi structure associated to Jacobi bialgebroid.

Equivariant resolutions of singularities as differential substacks

We show that there is an one-to-one correspondence between resolutions (equivariant w.r.t. a Lie groupoid action) of a singular subset of a manifold, and substacks (of a certain type) of the differential stack associated to the Lie groupoid in question. In particular, we show how to build an equivariant resolution out of Lie subgroupoids (of a certain type).

Non Abelian Differentiable Gerbes

We study non-abelian differentiable gerbes over stacks using the theory of Lie groupoids. More precisely, we develop the theory of connections on Lie groupoid $G$-extensions, which we call "connections on gerbes", and study the induced connections on various associated bundles. We also prove analogues of the Bianchi identities. In particular, we develop a cohomology theory which measures the existence of connections and curvings for $G$-gerbes over stacks. We also introduce $G$-central extensions of groupoids, generalizing the standard groupoid $S^1$-central extensions. As an example, we apply our theory to study the differential geometry of $G$-gerbes over a manifold.

Holomorphic Poisson Manifolds and Holomorphic Lie Algebroids

We study holomorphic Poisson manifolds and holomorphic Lie algebroids from the viewpoint of real Poisson geometry. We give a characterization of holomorphic Poisson structures in terms of the Poisson Nijenhuis structures of Magri-Morosi and describe a double complex which computes the holomorphic Poisson cohomology. A holomorphic Lie algebroid structure on a vector bundle $A\to X$ is shown to be equivalent to a matched pair of complex Lie algebroids $(T^{0,1}X,A^{1,0})$, in the sense of Lu. The holomorphic Lie algebroid cohomology of $A$ is isomorphic to the cohomology of the elliptic Lie algebroid $T^{0,1}X\bowtie A^{1,0}$. In the case when $(X,π)$ is a holomorphic Poisson manifold and $A=(T^*X)_π$, such an elliptic Lie algebroid coincides with the Dirac structure corresponding to the associated generalized complex structure of the holomorphic Poisson manifold.

Action-angle coordinates for integrable systems on Poisson manifolds

We prove the action-angle theorem in the general, and most natural, context of integrable systems on Poisson manifolds, thereby generalizing the classical proof, which is given in the context of symplectic manifolds. The topological part of the proof parallels the proof of the symplectic case, but the rest of the proof is quite different, since we are naturally led to using the calculus of polyvector fields, rather than differential forms; in particular, we use in the end a Poisson version of the classical Caratheodory-Jacobi-Lie theorem, which we also prove. At the end of the article, we generalize the action-angle theorem to the setting of non-commutative integrable systems on Poisson manifolds.

Modular classes of Lie algebroid morphisms

We study the behavior of the modular class of a Lie algebroid under general Lie algebroid morphisms by introducing the relative modular class. We investigate the modular classes of pull-back morphisms and of base-preserving morphisms associated to Lie algebroid extensions. We also define generalized morphisms, including Morita equivalences, that act on the 1-cohomology, and observe that the relative modular class is a coboundary on the category of Lie algebroids and generalized morphisms with values in the 1-cohomology.
